Thanks everyone! I just found how to solve the problem. First of all, I had a producer SDK located in ERMP's directory, I placed it there manually. After it's deleting everything works fine. Of course you need to download the latest update to get rid of this error message, saying that it can't write to f:/test.txt
BTW, I dont have helixprodctrl.dll on my computer, not in C:/Windows/system32, not anywhere, i've searched through all my HD.
P.S. Have a nice day :)

A couple of really minor suggestions, for any potential updates:
1) BestPSNRMode should be OFF by default. This option is really meant more for experiments than real encoding.
2) Remove the shaded check box state...always so confusing, and means the user needs to know what is default. For first time installations, use what is default for that particular option (listed in my Codec Properties thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=72321). (I just noticed the newest ones are missing .. I will fill those in there).

Gives som real good explanation but I'm not an expert and i still find very complicated to set every option to make the best job possible ::confused:
Hi, I'm trying to set correctly rv10 parameters in ERMP but it's quite hard. Does anybody have recomended settings for "usual" encoding like :
anime low bitrate
movie low bitrate
movie high bitrate...
Thanks for your great work redcheek!

and,in two pass mode the log file looks like that:

I am trying to encode an avi file to rmvb using realmedia producer version 1.85 and avisynth version 2.55 with ffdshow version 20050201 and it is giving me a black screen on my preview when i tick ( Force DirectShow )in the ( More... ) menu but unticked it work fine. What could be the problem, a collegue told me to update my directx and i did it to version 9.0c the newest one and it did not solve the problem, do you have an idea what could make ( Force DirectShow feature ) work?
(I am using a video card asus gforce2 32 meg with the latest nvidia driver)

+didn't notice it before as option is unchecked during install-but free elecard mpeg2 decoder- not available anymore-best in the business-is something for which i bow to thee my lord!!- with double dct precision the quality is simply awesome:D
encodes dvd at almost original quality at 600kbps video-nothing more can be asked:)

uhm, to tell you the truth, i have never used avisynth before. i hardly know what it is.
yeah.
i want to make game exhibition videos, lovely edited and arranged with music and perfectly encoded. will i need avisynth?

It sounds like the source video is of an unknown format. Do you know what the 4cc (codec) is? Can you open it in a media player, preferably media player classic? It will show you which filter (codec) is in use. Perhaps you need to install the proper decoder codec for your AVI file?

without using avisynth the haali media splitter (which i want to use for playing mkv, cause it has better chapter support then gabest's) easy realmedia hangs on when starting encoding.
I could circumvent this by turning on avisynth, but that way sometimes a video/audio sync problem will occur. Any idea how to solve this?

general question,
as far as i know, the realmedia encoders are commercial and not freeware. i can buy them with "realmedia producer". is that correct?
does ermp come with the encoders? if so, is that legal? seeing as you can download ermp for free.
i'm confused.
also, maybe can we make up an english ermp guide together explaining what every option does?

shinsenryu
16th August 2005, 18:44
Yeah, I have 3 installed in my machine: Direct Show Ogg Vorbis, SLD Codec Pack for DivX, and a Matroska Pack. Do I need to disable or uninstall them for ERMP to work properly?
Sirber
16th August 2005, 18:56
the problem may be before encoding, while encoding or after, the playback. Best is to keep away from codec pack.

ok, i have this error and nobody i have talked to can figure it out. i use all the same settings as a guy i know but when i try to convert an .avi to .rm i get this error message.
"QuickTime is missing software required to perform this operation. Unfortunately, it is not available on the QuickTime server."
i didnt realize ermp used quicktime, i tried to uninstall quicktime, reinstall the newest version, everything i could think of. i have no clue what to do. any help would be GREATLY appretiated, thanks

AVI reader fails, so producer tries to use quicktime module. Your are missing a directshow codec or your system is screwed.

Sorry for the delayed reply. The answer is straightforward:
Easy RealMedia Producer uses the Producer SDK binary, and RealNetworks licenses this free of charge. The Producer SDK license even allows products that include it to be sold commercially (Adobe Premiere and other editing tools that export to RealVideo and RealAudio is one example), as long as the SDK is distributed according to its license.

ok, so i have some anime that is in .ogm format and is dual audio with the option of subtitles or not. i was wandering if there was a way to convert it to .rm but keep the dual audio and subtitles options.
Liisachan
31st August 2005, 03:55
Producer can import AVC, so you can use this:
DirectShowSource("c:\your\anime.ogm")
OR: you might want to first demux your OGM (then you have a 'normal' AVI)
I didn't test it myself, but iirc you can embed SSA into RMVB too.
I'm not sure about dual audio.
(rmvb+ssa+dual audio).mkv should be possible but again I've never tried that.

okay, thanks, that helped. i would probably have needed it a bit more in-depth, seeing as i'm not too rm-knowledged.
what still puzzles me are these options;
startup latency, 60s.
a wait before the actually video begins? default is 60s, never changed it, and there was no minute wait. i must be mistaken about something here.
audio gair
a typo, is it? should be "audio gain"?
encode all frames
how could it not encode all frames? because of vfr? enabling this means auto-disabling vfr or am i fantasising?
also, what is "overflow control" and "inloop". i know inloop has been dealt with in the topic i quoted above but when you don't know what it is to begin with it's kinda hard to comprehend, heh.

I still have that question - how use source name in avisynth scripts using ERMP ?
I want to use following script
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\_2DCleanYUY2_for_25.dll")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\AviSynth 2.5\plugins\Convolution3D.dll")
AviSource("<path to avifile>")
ConvertToYUY2
_2DCleanYUY2(0,9,1,1,0,2,2)
Convolution3d (preset="animeBQ")
What shall I write instead of AviSource("<path to avifile>") ?
I think I tried all the combinations with {SOURCE} , but I can't get it work :(

Hi Redcheek, I see you have V1.92 out! IMHO, this update is the best I have seen. I'm glad to see that many long sought after features were implemented in this version. However, there is something that I would like to feedback on - no offence intended, but the new icon really sucks big time like some hastily done job from MS Paint.
I know icons aren't really the meat of the program, but this one is really asthetically unpleasing. Once again, thanks for updating ERMP.

Hi All,
When I try to convert my mpg files to rmvb, the sound and the picture go out of sync. Is there a setting somewhere I can set to keep the in sync? I have used the same setting on other mpg files before and it worked perfectly. Just some of the mpg files will cause this error.
Thank you much
