i'm quite new to rv10, but i think i found a software to keep
very well done

one thing i noticed, maybe a bug, maybe a missudnerstanding on my side:
I encoded a clip, 2 pass, vbr, avr bitrate 800, max bitrate 2400
i'll add the infos from "clip source" in real player at the end of the post
the strange thing is that in real player's playback statistics all 5 values(encoded at, current, minimum, maximum, avarage) are all always at 798.9, which looks much like cbr to me
so maybe the vbr option doesn't work properly?

Thanks RedCheek, Great GUI !

Well, in accept files there is '*.qt' and '*.mov', but I think mov cannot be directly trascoded to RV, some avs script should be used intermediately.

btw, I tried it on matrix rev trailor...and ERM quited suddenly...:)

the activex dll use itself registed path to locate producer-sdk.
maybe you first registed path is not as same as producer-sdk's

I just tried version 1.61 of ERM, and it keeps getting better. I was just curious:

2004.4.22 producer 1.61
.*fixed a bug in video preview.improved the preview image's definition

Where is the preview..? I was not able to see any button or option for this anywhere. Is it preview while encoding, or preview of source?

The "shaded" boxes are just a little confusing, but I realize there are only so many states in a check box, and this seems the only way to handle the state of "not used".

hi

is it possible to have audio only encoding (i know there is "No Video" option)... but i think this is not true audio-only encoding

if you enable this you could also separate audio and video settings (on the same tab of course)...

thanks

hi iradic, the "no video" does atucally only use the audio with no video at all, ive tested it myself.

i did it with directshowsource("whatever.ac3") on a few files out of curiousity awhile back. with no video source, it just did the audio. but it did name the files weirdly sometimes like "audioname.rmvb".

It does preview the clip while encoding.Compared with the Helix real producer,it cost less encoding time! Of course,this function is not possiblely used when encoding! But,when we use additionnal sub or ssa , preview may help us know the effect! Excited,this preview of ERP can be controlled easily .we can stop or go on "preview" when encoding provided we set this function

U can set this function in the "more settings"

1.preview while encoding
2."checked" enabled
"unchecked" disabled
"shaded" not used

In the audio codec setting,there is too many kind of profiles.

Some of them are the same idea:
eg:
96 kbps 5.1 multichannel RealAudio 10

and

96 kbps multichannel 6

are the same thing!They both are realaudio 8 cook-30!
And they are 5 channels,not 5.1,neither 6 channels.
They are also not RealAudio 10 obviously!

Here is another bug:
the check box of "RA10 plus",when i choose realaudio 10 codec ,it is grayed out,and can not be chosen.i must turn to multichannel ra10 and turn it back ,then it can be checked.

just updated to version 1.7
on first run i can configurate it's style but then every time i start it it crashes :(

UPDATE:
if i don't change anything in that first-run configuration-box it works
(before i changed the style and process priority)

UPDATE2:
"Style: System Default" kills the program, making a re-install needed

I plan to run some encodes over night, i'll post how well they go

feature request... an option to save a complete encode list would be very handy.
eg. it happens sometimes that after encoding a list of files the audio codec used has shifted the video/audio streams out of sync. Using another audio codec mostly solves the problem but then you have to enter all data (read avisynth scripts) for every file again.
I know you can save the settings / file but to save a complete list at once would be i think much more practical...

redcheek
12th July 2004, 02:10
you can get the complete encode list been saved by following steps.
step 1. setup your encode list;
step 2. shutdown the program.
step 3. copy producer.erm to any other filename.
(the program have saved the complete encode list in producer.erm)

i had figured that one out by myself already.. but wondered if there could be 'a real' button made for it... thx for the info anyway.

i do have a new prob.. don't know if it's really an issue that can be solved by easy rm. Some videos nowadays are encoded with xvid variable framerate.. they give a lot of video/audio sync problems while encoding them with avisynth. Without.. they're encoded ok. Do you have a suggestion how to fix/solve this with Easy RM?

Is it just me or does ERMP have a serious Memory-Leak?
On my PC it uses about 130Mbyte of RAM for every pass :-(

karl_lillevold
18th July 2004, 18:19
there is a memory leak in Avisynth or DirectShow. For some reason when used with the DirectShow reader in Producer, it does not free the memory after the 1st pass. See this this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=47893).

I still confused sorry redcheek. About your settings, when something is shaded is it being used or not. When it checked what is the differece between checked and SHADED.

He means like zones xvid uses. When there are creadits it lowers the quatily. I would suggest for the person asking this. To write a avs script and trim it right before the creadits, then lower the bitrate and stream them both together with real edit.

generally, a thri-state checkbox is associated with a bool setting.

checked means: true or enable
unchecked means:false or disable
shaded means : use the default value of the encoder

How to avoid a large file output for 1st pass separate encoding

Tip: when running the first pass as a separate encoding, Producer does not know about this feature yet, and thinks that it is encoding normally. It will therefore output a large file corresponding to the reference encoding. To avoid this, call the output filename something that ends with .null, for instance filename.rmvb.null Then there will be no file output.

thanx for the reply but I also curious to use the old rate control I usually put on a highbitrate reduce to 80 but then would I have to diable the new rate control or put on a checkmark to point it to the new rc settings which is highbitrate reduce?

I am confused too :) I know it works with the producer cmd line. Perhaps it does not work with the SDK. I will ask stevemc.

in order to use highbitrate reduce,you must enable the new rate control, and use two-pass encode,

It depends on the pre-filter. It may work for a couple. How do you think about this being useful in your GUI?

@karl_lillevold:
i want a pre-filter to process only the beging and ending part of the video.
i don't the encoder to waste time on converting color space,while the pre-filter isn't in effect.

@notags:
you let the program run at a low priority, use windows task manager
or use the program's Global settings.

Hi,

Great program, I'm trying to use it to encode some anime movies right now :D.

However, I'm having some trouble using the bit-rate calculator (I'm getting completely random numbers, like 7 or 4800). Perhaps you could explain to me how to use it?

Also, is there any chance of there being english documentation soon? (I would try and help with that, except a) my chinese is terrible and b) I need a chinese version of Windows (fat chance of that every happening, though :D).

Finally, could somebody point me to good resources for information on all the options and flags for RV encoding (If you're going to suggest reading threads on this forum, page numbers would be great, since some of the posts span more than twenty pages - I'm wondering if there's a nice tuning/tweaking guide somewhere, much like there is for other codecs (e.g. Divx, Xvid etc.)

Thanks,
Victor

if you want to calculate bitrate.
1.check the bitrate[kbps] radio button;
2.fill the edit box under [time[d:h:m:s.ms]] with the film time.
eg: 1:12:32.000 [1 hour 12 minutes 32 second]
3. fill the edit box under [size[kb] ] with the expect output filesize .
4. click on the [calculate] button;
