Easy RealMedia Producer is a software to generate RM/RMVB files
in batches,with a simple and very easy-to-use interface, and

It failed on converting an AVI (DivX 5.1.1 non-Pro/AC3 encoded).
OK, it failed much faster than a GUI that calls the producer via command line, but it failed.
Same with same AVI, audio encoded as MP3 CBR (128kBit/s).
Both clips can be displayed fine via directshow on my PC.

it would be nice to be able to viw and and edit the audience/job file
it would also be nice to see and edit the commandline
there are more than three ehq modes IIRC
an option to swithc off inloop filtering would be great
does it automatically use the new rate control?
AND, if you are very ambitious, you could try to implement somthing like the functionality of the DVD2svcd-Plugin RoBa (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=64886)

in your video cropping setting
make sure (right-left) is 4 multiple and (bottom-top) is 4 multiple

you may try a new video cropping setting or just set it disabled to look whether it will work well

well, source was 720*576; I cropped left 10, right 10, top 80, bottom 80. That gives an image of 700*416; 700 MOD 4 = 0, 416 MOD 4 = 0.
Or would have been left 10, right 710, top 80, bottom 496 the correct values for cropping 10 left, 10 right, 80 top, 80 bottom? If so, the GUI gives no hint about that.

Unfortunately, when I tried to save as default, this particular setting is not captured i.e. the box remains checked the next time I restart ERM.

The maximum frame rate that the codec will attempt to reach. While the codec will attempt to reach this frame rate and maintain it, the resulting frame rate may be lower than requested if the bit rate is not high enough to achieve a baseline level of quality. The higher the bit rate, the more likely it is the codec will be able to achieve the frame rate specified.

2. I choose english when install, but after install it becomes chinese traditional, maybe due to my chinese winxp? any possibility to change it back to english within the software?

Very nice GUI for Producer! Even though I don't mind the command line window, it is cool to see someone take advantage of another interface to run Producer. I added a link in the RealVideo Info thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=73035) with:
Features supported: RealVideo 10, RealAudio 10.
Not supported: 'Elysian' rate control and inloop filter options.

Great to see frequent updates to my favourite encoder!

Feature Request: Is it possible to seek foward (at least for a couple of seconds) in the crop preview? Many videos have a black background as the first frame and this makes it impossible to manually crop the video correctly cauz I can't tell where the video's edges are.

Black Level Filter
This filter is designed to change shades of near-black to pure black and shades of near-white to pure white. If the source video has a washed out appearance, this filter can be used to help restore proper color. This filter automatically computes reasonable values for the black, white and gamma levels. This filter is applied to all inputs. If option is omitted, no black level filtering occurs.

hum... you should use external gain, using fixed 12 may cause clipping in your sound.

Producers Docs says, audio is only gained if this won't produce any clipping.
But, for normalized sources, +12dB is to much. For Audio Books on my mobile, I mostly stick with +6dB. But for other uses than for speakers that shouldn't be named speakers, a simple normalize via besweet (or similar) would be the best.

Please allow me to make a minor suggestion:
It would be nice to have move up / down buttons to change the order in the job list. Currently one needs to clear everything and re-add if the sequence of jobs is not to one's liking.

an abort after current encoding button (without clearing the whole encode list) or even better, a pause current encoding button would be very handy.
Also I use avs scripts quite a lot. Your prog handles them very well. However for every file i need to click through 3 submenu's to get to the scripting part. A button/option on the main settings menu would be much appreciated ;)

one thing i noticed, maybe a bug, maybe a missudnerstanding on my side:
I encoded a clip, 2 pass, vbr, avr bitrate 800, max bitrate 2400
i'll add the infos from "clip source" in real player at the end of the post
the strange thing is that in real player's playback statistics all 5 values(encoded at, current, minimum, maximum, avarage) are all always at 798.9, which looks much like cbr to me
so maybe the vbr option doesn't work properly?

i did it with directshowsource("whatever.ac3") on a few files out of curiousity awhile back. with no video source, it just did the audio. but it did name the files weirdly sometimes like "audioname.rmvb".

It does preview the clip while encoding.Compared with the Helix real producer,it cost less encoding time! Of course,this function is not possiblely used when encoding! But,when we use additionnal sub or ssa , preview may help us know the effect! Excited,this preview of ERP can be controlled easily .we can stop or go on "preview" when encoding provided we set this function

In the audio codec setting,there is too many kind of profiles.

Some of them are the same idea:
eg:
96 kbps 5.1 multichannel RealAudio 10

and

96 kbps multichannel 6

are the same thing!They both are realaudio 8 cook-30!
And they are 5 channels,not 5.1,neither 6 channels.
They are also not RealAudio 10 obviously!

Here is another bug:
the check box of "RA10 plus",when i choose realaudio 10 codec ,it is grayed out,and can not be chosen.i must turn to multichannel ra10 and turn it back ,then it can be checked.

feature request... an option to save a complete encode list would be very handy.
eg. it happens sometimes that after encoding a list of files the audio codec used has shifted the video/audio streams out of sync. Using another audio codec mostly solves the problem but then you have to enter all data (read avisynth scripts) for every file again.
I know you can save the settings / file but to save a complete list at once would be i think much more practical...

He means like zones xvid uses. When there are creadits it lowers the quatily. I would suggest for the person asking this. To write a avs script and trim it right before the creadits, then lower the bitrate and stream them both together with real edit.

generally, a thri-state checkbox is associated with a bool setting.

checked means: true or enable
unchecked means:false or disable
shaded means : use the default value of the encoder

How to avoid a large file output for 1st pass separate encoding

Tip: when running the first pass as a separate encoding, Producer does not know about this feature yet, and thinks that it is encoding normally. It will therefore output a large file corresponding to the reference encoding. To avoid this, call the output filename something that ends with .null, for instance filename.rmvb.null Then there will be no file output.

However, I'm having some trouble using the bit-rate calculator (I'm getting completely random numbers, like 7 or 4800). Perhaps you could explain to me how to use it?

Also, is there any chance of there being english documentation soon? (I would try and help with that, except a) my chinese is terrible and b) I need a chinese version of Windows (fat chance of that every happening, though :D).

Finally, could somebody point me to good resources for information on all the options and flags for RV encoding (If you're going to suggest reading threads on this forum, page numbers would be great, since some of the posts span more than twenty pages - I'm wondering if there's a nice tuning/tweaking guide somewhere, much like there is for other codecs (e.g. Divx, Xvid etc.)

Often enough, there are errors where 1st pass can't even be started and ERM will skip the problematic task. If I leave the encoding overnight, the dialogue box closes and I have to manually check all my files on the harddisk to ensure nothing screws up during the process.

you can join with ermp, just open up the first half of what u want to join and then go to settings and select paste, then click on add and find the other half that u want to paste in and then press ok. Now Press start and that should work....

This is the way it has always been -- nothing to do with Easy RM Producer.. For medium to high bitrate, encodeAllFrames is just to make sure /all/ frames are always encoded, and none skipped "by accident".

(1) Easy RealMedia Tools.exe seems to try to write a "job file dump" as f:\test.txt, and will get an error if, for instance, there is no "F" drive in your computer. It seems that the tool works perfectly without this test.txt, but it would be always interesting to check the job file generated by the GUI. So, it'd be nice if I could set the path for this test.txt as one of the global settings.

Let me also note that the current feature is potentially risky, if you have a very important file called f:\test.txt already and your tool will overwite it without asking.

(2) In the Settings | Specify a File Name | Browse... you get the GetSaveFileName box, where the Filter is only (*.rm)... I'd like to see *.rmvb there, and probably Def Ext should be *.rmvb because almost all ppl would use .rmvb if not .mkv.

Before I discovered Easy RealMedia Producer a few days ago, I came across a piece of french software called NexusRV10 that seems to be a hack of Easy RealMedia Producer. When I opened this soft with Resource Hacker to attempt to translate it from French to English for my personal use, I noticed there were several dialogs in the resources section that don't show up when you run the program. One of them is titled Easy RealMedia Editor and there are some others as well that are all exact clones of the dialogs that are activable in ERM and there is nothing in NRV10 that is not in ERM. Uncheking "Locate producer SDK" doesn't helps. I have the Helix YUV Codecs installed and it gives the same error. Maybe I need to import some keys into registry to get rid of the "Failed to Set Property: Key chromaModeDecision Value 1" error? The error you get indicate that ERMP is somehow not using the latest version of the encoder DLL, which might be caused by an older Helix Producer SDK being registered on your system.

A couple of things you can try:

1) Search for all copies of helixprodctrl.dll. You will probably find more than one. Open cmd line window, cd to folder, and type 'regsvr32 /u helixprodctrl.dll' for all of them. Un-install and re-install ERMP.

2) Last resort, search for all copies of erv4.dll on your system. Replace all with the latest (1206).

Thanks everyone! I just found how to solve the problem. First of all, I had a producer SDK located in ERMP's directory, I placed it there manually. After it's deleting everything works fine. Of course you need to download the latest update to get rid of this error message, saying that it can't write to f:/test.txt
BTW, I dont have helixprodctrl.dll on my computer, not in C:/Windows/system32, not anywhere, i've searched through all my HD.

It sounds like the source video is of an unknown format. Do you know what the 4cc (codec) is? Can you open it in a media player, preferably media player classic? It will show you which filter (codec) is in use. Perhaps you need to install the proper decoder codec for your AVI file?

I could circumvent this by turning on avisynth, but that way sometimes a video/audio sync problem will occur. Any idea how to solve this?

Sorry for the delayed reply. The answer is straightforward:

Easy RealMedia Producer uses the Producer SDK binary, and RealNetworks licenses this free of charge. The Producer SDK license even allows products that include it to be sold commercially (Adobe Premiere and other editing tools that export to RealVideo and RealAudio is one example), as long as the SDK is distributed according to its license.

Hi Redcheek, I see you have V1.92 out! IMHO, this update is the best I have seen. I'm glad to see that many long sought after features were implemented in this version. However, there is something that I would like to feedback on - no offence intended, but the new icon really sucks big time like some hastily done job from MS Paint.

I am having some trouble with Easy RealMedia Editor 1.73. I am trying to cut a portion from an rmvb file created with ERMP 1.92. When I play the cutout file using WMP 10 (using Real Alternative), it works fine until the second last frame. After it plays the second last frame, the player freezes there for about 2-3 seconds with a terrible "grrrrrrr" sound. I tried cutting out different portions of the video but still I have the same problem.

I tried the video in Crystal Player. What happens then is when the video reaches the 2nd last frame, Crystal stops the video and skips to the next in the playlist.

Any idea?

Thank you very much, but that version of DRG is the same that I have. Unfortunately, there isn't english.lng (or in another words, the file "english.lng" is empty). If the developer maybe translate the *.ini file, I believe it will be enough, if that changes the label of the buttons. So simple and so complicated.

Supose you are encoding in the ERP and it was almost finishing (for example 99,6%) and suddenly occur a blackout. That "temp_7WN1QzgPCEWtevWRkr-eRA==.tmp" generated, can I recover it? I mean: how to convert it in *.rmvb? Considering that practically the whole file was encoded?

As for installing it I didn't try that , but they say on WINE site that directX dll cannot be used instead of those that wine already has .

New Rate Control (RC) aka "Elysian" would be the safest. Key points include:

- Video Codec = RealVideo 10
- Click [RV10/9 Settings...] and:
- Check "Use New Rate Control"
- Check "Use Two Pass" and Select "1st & 2nd"
- Check "Target Video Size" and input the number in KB
- Set "Source fps * 1000" as it should be (eg 23976)

Also, from my experience, I'd check "encodeAllFrames"
B Frames=3 should be ok

Honestly I'm not sure. While ago I got a bad result (frames dropped when they shouldnt be), and the movie got jumpy, without <encodeAllFrames type="bool">true</encodeAllFrames> but it might have been the DropDupe thing (which I now disabled too).

encodeAllFrames only work with the old rate control. the new rc does not drop frames. the use of dropdupe is not recommended with both rate control, since with the old one, you can miss subtil mouth moves and it's useless with the new one.

Yes, it does. it removes half the horizontal lines and makes the image blurier. Best use AVISynth for that, not producer.

im using ERMP v1.94 on win98 se P3 700 mhgz w/ 256 sdram
im almost re-encoded an anime episode for an hour an its good to me.

however when i try it to install to my new pc celeron d processor with 2.4 mhgz w/ 256 ddram with the same configuration i've got a faster re-encoding for just 10 minutes and the output is only audio and no video the audio last only for 10 minutes total file is mostly 10 mb.

One thing I found is that when it's "undefined" it uses a higher bitrate then if it's "checked". Most of the time, this seems to make the end video have higher quality.

Also, how will Real Video 11 compare to DivX, XviD, MPEG-2, MPEG-4, H.264, and X264 AVC? And is there any chance it will be optimized for video game encodes?

Last, I have a lot of highly complex raw avi's (deinterlaced correctly) that i've been testing with. If you ever what any of them to test with let me know. And I would be happy to use them to help test RealVideo 11 beta or something.

1.If I check the option 'shapest image' will this sharpen the source-video?
Or will it just try to maintain the sharpness of the source video (no additional shrpening will occur)?

there is something wrong with my ERMP (easy realmedia producer) v.1.94. when i do a conversion i only get the sound and the entire file comes out to only be about 11MB. i have already tried everything myself, to no avail. is there a way to fix this, i would appreciate any help. thanks for taking the time to read this message and any help you may provide. I use the VBR because it better divides the size of the frames, preventing that a frame is with more kbps that the necessary one.

I do not know if it reads this extenção, but you can simulate false avi using the Avi-Wrapper.

the quality of the archive is proportional to the quality, this says that you are placing much quality in the archive.
I go to pass two archives one with sufficient quality and another one that wheel rapid - it has led - in the PC, is enough to load using the button load.

Hello, I just downloaded the new DivX version and now only one out of 20 or so movies will convert to RMVB. I didnt change anything else. There is no specific error, but all of the movies turn pink.

Sorry for being such a newbie now but... I always seem to get this kind of error immediately after starting my encode. Have tried with different files but all seem to be the same (except for a .rmvb file which started fine).

What is needed for encoding in this program?

I have XP2, CCCP codec pack, xvid, divx, avisynth... I've tried a lot of things. Have I missed anything cruicial? The files play fine in every media player I try. Plain AVI/xvid and such.

I've also tried encoding .rmvb with RealAnime5 but it won't work there either.

Well, which is it?

Your title says convert to rmvb, but your post says convert to avi/mpg (which are very different, in case you didn't know).

The general rule of thumb is to use Avisynth with DirectshowSource and a RealVideo decoder, like Real Alternative. (http://www.videohelp.com/tools/Real_Alternative)

Then load the script into your favorite avi encoder (such as VirtualDub or MeGUI) or mpg encoder (such as HCenc) and press start!

Thanks for the great software which makes encoding to rmvb so much easier.
I will be glad if someone could help me out with two problems I am having:

1. The brightness/Contrast of all the encoded rmvb files (I have tried 8,9,10) comes dark compared to the original one. In some scene's, it is unbearably dark. I played with the Colour settings to increase the values (even as high as 22) and Black level correction, but nothing fixes it, either just the brightness increases or both brightness and contrast are lower than original one. How can I fix it?

2. Whenever I try to encode a file larger than around 600 mb (from xvid), it just creates a 800kb file and finishes. Any suggestions to avoid this?

I do not know what the filesize problem could be. Real (Helix) Producer should not have any problems with large input files on Windows. The output RMVB filesize is limited to 2GB.

I've tried it on RealOne Player, Windows Media Player and Media player classic (RMVB files don't run on VLC on my computer, even though I've installed Real Alternative codec.) The effect is almost the same in all players.

And I haven't encoded with Helix Producer. Should I try with that? Is it free btw? I've tried to find tutorial or manuals for terms and settings for RMVB encodings, but couldn't find any. And FYI, I am encoding from XVID files.

I am sorry I can not help much further. The codec does not change the brightness or contrast.

Either these are changed in the input path to the encoder, maybe another MPEG-4 DirectShow filter is being used to read/decode the file to Producer. The alternative is that brightness/contrast is changed at playback time of the resulting file.

You could always try one of the other free GUI frontends mentioned in this thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=82042).

I've been using ERMP v1.94 for a about 6 months now and I must say that this is one of the best realmedia producer. Sometimes there are a few videos (some .wmv) that won't convert but it rarely happens. Most video converters (commercial and freeware) consumes a lot of memory but what I like the most about ERMP is that its not a memory hogger :)

@terradune: I encountered this before and I've found solution :)

1. Go to Start > Programs > K-Lite Codec Pack > Configuration > ffdshow audio decoder > DirectShow control

2. Check "Don't use ffdshow in:" and click "Edit..."

3. Click "Add", Browse to ERMP installation folder and select "Easy RealMedia Tools.exe"

4. Click all the "Ok" buttons and you're done :D

I do not know what makes people to encode in a rather unsupported format. There is only one player (Real Player) which is buggy, contains adware and ***** your system, because the competition is so weak.

FFmpeg/libavcodec has a RealVideo 9/10 (RV40) decoder (http://codecs.multimedia.cx/?cat=11) and it should also handle most of the RealAudio formats. So, try the latest MPlayer SVN or some other libavcodec-based player. Use SMPlayer if you need a GUI for MPlayer. Maybe ffdshow works too.

I can't get Easy RealMedia ProducerV1.94 to convert the Audio to vorbis . It works with all the other formats (that it is supposed to).
I have done the install with the programs own ogg decoder .This didn't work but interfered with the ogg codec from Xiph.Org
so I reinstalled that one.
So how do I get this program to convert the Audio to vorbis ?
My second problem is with Easy RealMedia EditorV1.73 .
When I try to combine the .rm files created from a full set of movie .vobs it fails.
The 6 .rm files average 85MB.
If I just do a couple of short clips from the same .vobs & convert these to .rm
with the same settings as the large .rm files were converted with the editor successfully combines them.
The only thing I can figure is there is a file size limit in the editor.
Any help for either will be appreciated.

Just a "wild guess", but maybe the problem is "outside of ERMP" ? (on the operating system, for example --- aren't you running Windows Vista or Windows Seven ???)

OTOH, you might as well encode the audio to Vorbis with oggenc2, and later mux with MKVtoolnix (afaik, the RealMedia container does not support Vorbis).

There should not be any problems with those file sizes (individual or combined). When the RM editor fails to combine RM files, it's almost always because they have somehow been encoded with incompatible parameters, or streams. It's rather difficult to figure out which, since it does not report what the problematic parameters are. Sorry I can not be of more help.

Hi there, first of all thanks for the software. I was wondering if anybody could help me with using ermp, I tried converting some avi files which it did but the quality is horrible regardless of the bitrate in the avi file or output settings, also everytime I try to covert another file type like vob it says error and stops converting. What am I doing wrong?
