impretty sure that MP4Box and YAMB can accept VobSub am i correct?Yes it can.
You load the .IDX file, which automatically pulls in the .SUB file.
If you want to know if such files work with your Xbox 360. I suggest you visit/post the question in the correct section of the forum.

Uninstall of Yamb 2.1.0.0 beta 2 deleted more than it should, knocking out shortcuts and program folders. However, the programs themselves seemed untouched...just the links to them in the program folders were gone. During installation I installed all components btw.
System restore thankfully seemed to have fixed the issues.

@ Kurtnoise
I see there is a new version of MP4Box (MP4Box-0.4.6-dev_20090922.zip) in the MeGUI folder of your site but this version has not been added to the mp4tools folder. So could you please confirm that this new version is fully compatible with YAMB 2.1b2 or is it made/tweaked for MeGUI use only ?

It's because I forgot to upload it there too. You can use it within Yamb safety, yes...

HI Kurtnoise I have a problem occurring with Yamb. The problem relates to multiple input files. Each time I try to convert multiple files at the same time Yamb errors. I ran a very basic test for this after it occurred several times. Basically in log 1, I had multiple files Jimi Hendrix is the 2nd file, the log shows this erroring when attempting to be opened. However in Log 2 I have used Yamb with Jimi being the only conversion queued, and the same file this time does not error.

Hello YAMB community,
first of all I want to thank Kurtnoise for this great GUI which I use quite often when dealing with MP4 and MKV files. :thanks:
As I "tested" the software quite well (several hundred uses with different tasks), I just want to unveil some minor bugs and glitches I noticed during the last weeks:
- Closing YAMB without doing anything (starting any process) results in an access violation
- When concatenating two MP4 files, the output file created always contains multiple streams that are played in parallel (equal to muxing) instead of one after another (which should be the result of a concatenation in my opinion), even if I enable "Always force Concatenation".
This is caused by a wrong command line (the "-add" switch of MP4Box is used on all streams instead of using "-concat" for all streams not from the first file)
- If I uncheck the options "Use it also as a tagger" and "Store file with all media data first" in the MP4Box settings, a program error arises. When finally exiting YAMB after doing so, it results in an access violation.
- The following settings only affect the current session and get reset to their default values when closing and re-opening YAMB:
> Disabling "Overwrite an existing output file" (enabled again - but seems to have no effect as the "Do you want to overwrite...?" question still pops up)
> Disabling "Enable OnFinish Event" (enabled again which results in the "Are you sure you want to quit Yamb ?" question being asked when clicking on "Finish" at the end of a process)
> Enabling "Save log file in Yamb folder" (set back to "Save log file to output folder")
Note: I would prefer an option to disable logging completely as I am doing the same steps with just different files over and over again which doesn't need to be logged...
- Output file extension in Creation -> 3GP file is MP4 and can only be changed manually (even changing output file type in "File browsing" window doesn't affect the extension appended to the file name)
- Output file extension in Editing -> Join is 3GP and can only be changed manually (same problem as with Creation -> 3GP file: A file type change in browsing window has no effect)
I hope my information will help you to reproduce and solve these minor problems. Please feel free to ask if something is unclear so I can be more specific on a certain issue.
Naturally, I am always at your service as a beta (or alpha ;) tester if there are fixes to be tested !

Hey, I'm having a bit of a problem trying to get multiple audio tracks on an MP4 file. I've got an MP4 file with an AAC audio track, then I add another AAC track to it and mux them. The second track is a commentary track. The resulting file plays fine with Zoom Player, but Windows Media Player picks the commentary by default and I can't find a place to change it back. Quicktime plays both at once and doesn't let me change it.
Is there some way to specify that one track is the default track?
RandomEngy
18th October 2009, 23:07
Well I found out that WMP just picks the wrong stream to play, but you can change it by going full screen then right-clicking the video.
With Quicktime you have to disable the audio stream you don't want to play. Mp4Box has an option to do this but it isn't in YAMB yet. Could you add this?

Use the Haali Media Splitter and specify your preferred language in settings...

No, I found out the problem. It has nothing to do with languages: WMP just picks the wrong audio track to play by default.
And I want to disable the stream, not leave it out entirely. If the stream isn't marked as "disabled", Quicktime will attempt to play both streams at once. What I want is an option to add the disable command from Mp4Box to YAMB:
mp4box -new -add source_video.mp4 -add extra_audio.m4a:disable output_file.mp4

I use Zoom Player and love it. But I want to encode videos that will work for people who use other common players. Telling someone that they need to download new player software before being able to watch the video not only is in many cases annoying to do in and of itself, it's a giant middle finger to a lot of potential viewers.

I thought that Yamb designated as beta is allowed to use beta tools, isn't it so? Anyway, looking at the GPAC bug tracker (http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=84101&atid=571738) there really aren't that much bugs to care about for me. I'll leave it to Kurtnoise, it's his decision after all what shall be included...

new question:
Is there a way to auto delay of mp4 file created by nero aac encoder?
I've discovered that nero adds 35ms or more delay encoding.
Mp4box reports a chapter at 00:00:00.054
Reconverting that mp4 into wav with neroaacdec gives a delay 0s.
The player doesn't use that decoder to play, the problem is that i've to mux the track with video.
And once muxed the info from the original mp4 created by nero, is lost.
Cutting 35ms from ac3 before encoding, muxing mkv and extract, convert to wav with foobar gives delay 0s.
Muxing with mp4box i've even more dalay, about 20ms more...that will be removed if demuxed with mp4box
but at this point doesn't matter, is 20ms all tracks, video also i think.
35ms is not that much...but i care ...someone cares about aften's 5ms and set -pad 0... :thanks:

that's quite normal to have delays from the Nero AAC Encoder...Note that this delay will change within profiles [LC/HE/HEv2] used. So pick up the value you noticed in the advanced settings and remux your streams. That's all...the problem is that not all players support delay from mp4 files.

35ms LC and HE ...
Cutting 30ms the resulting will be +5ms, with 40ms -5ms, so the resilting is either better than +35ms
Anyway i will compare with audition always now before muxing...
why such large padding of 35ms?

According to:
http://trac.handbrake.fr/wiki/ChapterMarkers
HandBrake can include chapter markers when you use the MP4 or MKV file formats. These will be placed at the same point where the chapter breaks are on the DVD or in a source MP4 or MKV file.
I've tried encoding a DVD twice, once using HandBrake 0.9.3(Released 23 Nov 2008) as well as HandBrake SVN2907(Released 02 Nov 2009 from here: http://handbrake.fr/snapshot.php). Both times I used the H.264 as the video codec, AC3 as the audio codec, as well as making sure that "Create Chapter Markers" was ticked and I used the MP4 container both times. It detected 18 chapters.
When I start Yamb(I'm using Yamb-2.1.0.0 beta 2 from here: http://yamb.unite-video.com/download.html), I click Editing, then click "Click to split MP4/M4A/MOV/3GP Files.". I used the newly finished encoded file as input but then both "Split by Chapters #:" and "Split All Chapters" immediately grey out. What am I doing wrong? How can I split this one file into multiple files based on chapters?
Activity log is here:
http://handbrake.fr/pastebin/pastebin.php?show=990
As a sidenote they have released HandBrake 0.9.4, which I haven't tested yet but expecting the same result.

I checked "Verbose Mode" for mp4box and "Enable Command Line Preview" for Yamb, and that made Yamb bail out with some error messages -" """" --Overwrite doesn't exist " and an access violation in Yamb.exe. This continued after restarting, and the settings couldn't be unchecked and saved, so I did a re-install.
Also, when trying to fix an audio sync problem adding an audio delay in the properties for mp4 file creation (track 2), the number I add also shows up in the video properties (track 1), which I find strange. The command line preview shows "-delay 1= ", so maybe the gui should only have a media delay field for the track that really is affected to avoid confusion? Or showing the negative value for the rest of the tracks. (Not that I could check to see what actually happened when changing media delay, apparently neither mpc/cccp or vlc respects this info.)

It seems yamb doesn't support recovery points as an alternative to IDR frames. I tried with a special build of ( see open GOP thread ) x264 but also with open GOP streams ripped from bluray. Is it possible to add support for it?

I changed the system font size to 120 dpi.
The bottom of the window is cut off.
I can not see/reach the mux button.
That was 18th May 2005 - still a problem in the latest beta :(
Its not just the mux window, its all windows, the bottom and the right side isn't being displayed because the window size is calculated by using hard coded values instead of reading the system setting.
We don't change it for fun, we change it because our eyes aren't what they used to be :(
So hopefully one day, eh?

O.T. (mp4 size limit on Playstation 3)
Maybe useful...
Made some test after discover that a DVD-DL with a movie of 8.505.000 byte was not working on Ps3
Limit is on mp4 standards in the ps3. Not for other container, such m2ts.
For mp4 i've found the limit something between
6,83 GB (7.343.139.169 byte) works
7,63 GB (8.023.xxx.xxx byte) doesn't work
Movie was full HD 1080p and Ps3 FW 3.40
Using MP4Box_0.4.6-DEV-1(2009-09-26) modified version
With official mp4box is not possible the mux over 4GB
Maybe in the future they will fix this like mkv support...

Some feedback, excuse if any has been mentioned previous here, big thread not easy to find these below after search to many hits.
Extracting video streams to another destination, always extracts file to the source directory for both audio and video.
Input: xvid.avi
Output: xvid_video.cmp
Output: xvid_audio.mp3
Suggestion for use of a valid extension such as, .m4v for video instead of .cmp. For streams to be used with other softwares when needed, without having extension to be renamed first. Since the extracted streams may be used for working with other softwares besides Yamb.
When have four streams on the list for example, four different video and audio streams with different named files. The output save requester doesn't parse the correct file name for the second two streams that are checked only. Instead parses only the last saved filename (which is of the first two streams name).
Subnote: The Create files does output to the correct destination as chosen. Oposite to demux where it saves to source directory.

There is a fix in gpac r2043 that addresses a desync with x264 and baseline files. Are you planning an update to a more recent build in your downloads folder?

Hey Kurt,
I send an email to your free.fe email address. I wan't sure if you recieved, so I'll post it here:
There is one issue I have been having, and it is this error: Access Violation at address 004201EF in module 'Yamb.exe'. Read of address 01000100. Or, Access Violation at address 0056F7E5 in module 'Yamb.exe'. Read of address 00000030. I am running Windows 7 x64 with Intel i7 920 CPU, 6 GB RAM.
And if you don't mind, I have a couple of suggestions that will make YAMB even better yet:
1) Adding MKV extraction was an awesome idea! It would also be cool if you added FLV extraction too. Moitah.net has a program called FLV Extract. The source code is included, so hopefully (with the author's blessing), you could easily add FLV extraction and pipe to YAMB without too much extra work. The author's email is moitah at yahoo dot com.
2) My second suggestion is to add a batch option to YAMB. This would be a great feature when a person has several dozen files to mux and/or demux. While the actual (de)muxing is a fast process, it does get tedious clicking Create, Dragging and Dropping files, clicking Next, click Finish, answering 'No' to Am I sure I want to quit... all for one file.
Well, that's it... please keep up your excellent work, and I hope you'll seriously consider my suggestions.
:thanks:
