My Elta got this FW

Version = 05.00.02.02
Sub-Version = 00.00.00.01

Seems they changed the site, it no more possible to download the actual firmware.
The 5.00.02.02 is an older one.
Yesterday you came to a second site if you click on "DX3016 Versione : 05.00.03.06"
wich let you decide between 2 different version of players, one with version 5.00.01.06 and one with 5.00.02.02

i flashed my elta8883 with the same amstrad fw Zhnujm did and killed it. my elta8883's serial also begins with 310 and the firmware i used was the rightmost one on the download page. i chose the correct one according to the instructions there.

everything seemed fine, it upgraded well, but after that the player wont read any media. everything else seems to work.

apparently the dvd drive is a bit different and now i have a semi-working player that i cant use.

im pretty much pissed off.

To Mactop

I update my amstrad (firmware ver.05.00.01.06) 27 or 28. April 2004.
On solaris site in that time wrote this:

1)for version 05.00.01.06 new version is 05.00.01.07
MTK.BIN DATE 25.4.2004 12:06

2)for version 05.00.02.02 new version is 05.00.03.06
MTK.BIN DATE 22.4.2004 16:55

NOW ON SOLARIS SITE YOU HAVE:

1) VERSION 05.00.02.02
MTK.BIN DATE 06.4.2004 11:07 *** ( THIS IS OLD, i UPDATE MY AMSTRAD
WITH THIS FIRMWARE 7.4.2004. BEFORE NEW VERSION OF FIRMWARE 05.00.01.07)

2) VERSION 05.00.03.06
MTK.BIN DATE 22.4.2004 16:55 *** (SEE THIS IS SAME VERSION LIKE NO.2 BEFORE SOLARIS CHANGE (DATE 01.05.2004))

I THING THAT YOU CAN USE BOTH FIRMWARE BUT NO.2 HAVE SUBTITLE SUPPORT!!!!!!

ITS THAT HELP YOU ?

Zhnujm
4th May 2004, 20:48
Thanks.
So i think the reason why it wont work is that it is an elta with Amstrad firmware and not an original...
But the subtitle support look promising, if you name the subtitle files film.eng.srt and film.fra.srt you can cycle trough them and it shows the right language in the osd.

Mirko
6th May 2004, 06:23
to Zhnujm
film.eng.srt and film.fra.srt ...this work fine only player when I change subtitle stop on a moment (Like "Pause" then press "play").

In SubRip you must by careful
1. no overlap time
2. no subtitle time withaut any letter.
this works problem

If you open srt file with subtitle studio(subrip software better) with no problem that is subtitle file OK.

Yesterday I try everything about specijal character(ŠĐöäüÄÖÜ...)but nothing dont work.

PROBLEM WITH HOLE in subtitle ?
I think that work only Code Page 437
I need Code Page 1250 or old Code Page 850

hi, I bought the DK Digital DVD-339 player just - got fed up of converting all my avis into dvdr/cvd resolution format again and bought one - only to find that my avi files joined up at 1.36gb always cut out round about the 1gb mark...the mannual doesn't warn about anything alike to that....exactly which chipset is this? the GE one Im guessing as this seems to be the cheaper one. Its a bit inconvenient to me if I have to keep cutting every one of my files into 700mb chunks to be able to watch them, and its not documented...any fixes for this one, and surely if not I'll be covered to return it to my mail order outlet for a refund as its not doing the job that I want? please help, as if I can't get the problem fixed, I'd like to send it back, but I dont want them to turn around and say "theres nothing wrong with it" and to send me it back minus administration charges if they refuse to refund.. what rights do I have with that?

I've got a spanish clone of dkdigital called grunkel DVX-50T.

The website is www.grunkel.com; here you can watch an image from the player; it's the same than yours.

http://www.grunkel.com/fotos/dvd/DVX-50-T.jpg

We have new firmware since 20 march 2004; you can find it at www.conetxion.com in the section called "actualizacion divx". There are three different versions.

Model 29 & Ansonic DIXH10T : Both firms are identical; toy must use this firms if your servo version is 02.06.00.00
(you can see the servo pressing SETUP 1379 in your remote)

Model 31: This firm is suitable if you haver servo version 07.02.00.00.

If you have another servo version DON'T USE this firmws; or your player will die.

Here in Spain thre´s a lot of clones of this player; like ansonic DIXH10T, saivod DIXH, nevir 2046/2047, Sunstech DPVX505.... Actually people use grunkel firms.

The actual firm version is:

MODEL 29 & ANSONIX & SAIVOD after update:

VERSION.- 05.00.02.02
SUBVERSION.- 54.07.00.01
8032.- 05.00.02.02
SERVO.- 02.06.00.00
RISC.- 05.00.02.02
DSP.- 03.03.00.23

MODEL 31 after update:

Version 05.00.02.06
Sub-ver 54.0A.00.04
8032 05.00.02.06
Servo 07.02.00.00
Risc 05.00.02.06
DSP 03.03.00.36

8032 05.00.01.03

risc 05.00.02.05

Oh also had a H&B DX-3220. Monsters Inc does not work on both the Neuneo & H&B. Set the Neuneo to R1. Gets to the warning screen then goes back to the Neuneo/H&B logo. This disc works on a PC and a Sony R1 DVD-Video player.

It's the Canadian R1. 8693616488 EAN number

My guess would be that the Rimax doesn't support anything else than MPEG-2 AAC LC files, maybe even in stereo only, not multichannel. How did you encode your test files, which AAC codec with which settings?

The UK importer of the DK Digital DVD-339 has confirmed the next batch of players should be available by the end of May/early June and will now feature MT1389DE chips, rather than GE chips :)

The player also got 5 stars in the UK gadget magazine, T3 (June 2004 issue) - well done fellas !

hmm

Based on next generation MPEG4 Chipset --- MTK 1389, MTK1389 is DivX™ Certified

that is not 100% true the GE chip is not Certified they lie to the customers

wouldn't that be misleading information couldn't they be sued for it ?

Mr Whippy
15th May 2004, 22:18
No idea- I'm no lawyer :p guess would be depend on your local laws, and whether a internet based company (in another county) has any relevance of chasing up a lawsuit, it's that at all possible in the first place.

Anyway, (if) the GE is the inferior chipset (and is not Divx certified) does this actually mean anything?

For example in audio- just because gear is THX certified does not mean a non-THX amp is inferior in sound quality.

Has anyone actually used a DE & GE chipset player? And compared compatibility/reliability/picture quality, with the version & features of the existing firmware?

For example- the H&B (DE) has superior video connections (SCART) and video adjustments over the Neuneo, but it could not play a certain Divx file. Yet the Neuneo does.

Oh would be great if you could edit your first post, move the Neuneo from EE to GE. Since I bought the Neuneo because you stated the Neuneo is a different chipset, and not the early GE:rolleyes:

Personally speaking I would prefer it if Mpeg4 players were not DivX certified...

I really can't help feeling that DivX's current 'limited' certification program is holding back hardware player progress.

as the two newest chips show, they are able to do far more than the divx certification defines
still with gmc for example we see that chip manufacturers still look at the divx5 implementation of the mpeg-4 standard, which is very weak and only uses gmc with 1 warppoint

imo the only thing which should count are the profiles/levels defined in the mpeg-4 standard!
there simply is no need for a private profile, like the home theater profile as defined for the divx certification
the mpeg-4 standard gives the manufacturers everything what is needed to ensure interoperability already

for me the divx certification is nothing but the try of divxnetworks to brainwash the people and make them think that "divx" is what counts, not mpeg-4

Click on the link again, you won't find any mention of the 1389EE chip. They only mention MT1389.

I've seen the link and at one time it did mention the 1389EE chipset. I think the best way to handle the bad sales practices of NeoDigits is to complain to eBay. When you claim your unit is one thing and it's not, that's called dis-honesty (for lack of a better word)

The best thing to do, is to warn other potential buyers about the less than ethical practices and keep them from sending money to those companies. Perhaps someone will file a complaint with either eBay or PayPal. I know they have been tricking consumers.

NO, it's not the luck of the draw. NeoDigits wants to make buyers believe they are purchasing a player made with a divx certified chip however, they deliver a 1389GE chip! I had the same experience. I strongly doubt many of the very positive reviews I've read about this player. "Roy" at NeoDigits claims he didn't know the player had a GE chip. Let the buyer beware!

Hi,

Ik just bough the Xoro HSD400 Pro player (120€, Netherlands).
Quite impressed. The player uses the MT1389DE chip.
It also has got a lot of outputs like VGA and DD5.1 analoge outputs.

Because I wanted to know the chip xoro uses I opened it up and took some photo's of it. Chech these out ;-)

Front of the player:

Back of the player:

The Inside:
http://home.wanadoo.nl/gjonk/hsd/inside.jpg

The Mainprint with MT1389DE chip:
http://home.wanadoo.nl/gjonk/hsd/mainprint.jpg

I also check the software on delivery:
Version: 05.00.02.08
SUB-VER: 04.03.01.03
8032: 05.00.02.08
Servo: 04.07.00.00
RISC: 05.00.02.08
DSP: 03.03.00.57

After the first sofware update (04.04.27):
SUB-VER: 04.04.01.07

Unforunately I am still waiting for the subtitle support. Perhaps
on the socond software update.

I noticed that he player plays some older divx 3 Low Motion files
out of sync:

DIVX3 Low Motion
VIDEO AUDIO SYNC
===============================
624x336 48Khz 128 Out of sync!
704x352 48Khz 128 GOOD SYNC
576x304 44.1 128 Out of sync!

Also some VCD's are running out of sync.
I hope these problems will be solved within the future software versions.

However I am really happy with it and it can only get better, so no worries here!

Greetings 2 all,
Guido.

I wonder why they installed an analogue VGA output connector, instead of an digital DVI connector!

Hi Folks,

To clear things up I made a few more pictures.
Numbers on the pictures are to give you a better view on where is what on the board. I'm affraid that it is not possible to add VGA support to players wich do not have that function standard. As you can see the pictures do not exacly give the needed information and it is likely that the different components within the chain for VGA support are also hard to resolve.

However, here are the pictures.
1= VGA connection at the back of the player
2= Connection from 1 to the main print
3= The MT1389DE chip

Soon I will let you know something about the quality of the VGA output and progressive scan supported by the unit, when I connect it to a beamer next week.

Greetz @ all ;-)

After reading this long thread, I am confused about the state of "XVID B-frames" in MT1389-based players.
From my short experience:
- two conssecutive B-frames with packed bitstream 'feature', cause the player to skip BOTH frames ("high stuttering")
- two conssecutive B-frames with NO packed bitstream, cause the plaeyr not to play the second frame ("lower suttering, but not perfect")
- single B-frames are fine.
Is this indeed the "agreed wisdom"?
Was there any player that got one of these problems fixed by a firmware upgrade?
Is it a problem only in GE chips?

With my elta 8882 (Sigma) Packet Bitstream had to be enabled to play correctly. But thats long ago, maybe that changed with a new firmware.
And for ESS it does not seems to care if it is enabled or not.
But maybe that also different with different firmware versions :D

It is true that with bframes=2 and NO packed bitstream the playback is smoother than with packed bitstream, but I still see frame drops , compared to playback on the PC (with bframes=2 and without packed bitstream).

Hi all,
In france we had the Lifetec LT7457 Divx player based on MT1389 chip.

Do you have any info about a serial boot protocol or terminal ?

He is right. The serial cable you need to read and load data from the MTK board has MAX3232, with 3.3V interface. This cable works perfectly with the MTK tool.

While I also tried using RS232 cable but that did not work. I guess that’s due to the Voltage supply.

MTK tool is the software which Mediatek provides along with the cable.
Also the card/cable has MAX3232 IC and 5 Capacitors of 100microF each, I guess.. and a 4-wire idc interface to connect to the board.
Their program works both for 1369 and 1379. I did not get to test it for 1389 as of yet.

Mtktool works with MT1389. I confirm it.

...

we'll see what happens next but it looks like theres a chance for us with broken 1389 players.

HOORAY!

oh, and - i can confirm that my elta 8883 has the mentioned pins.

Just wanted to warn the Yamada 6600 owners among us that a new firmware was released yesterday.

The only obvious improvement is support for extended ASCII characters in Latin1 and Latin2 subtitles.
