with MPC-HC you can use LAV Filter as internal filters. no seperate installation required.

Haali Splitter works with ordered chapters too.
but I do not know if VLC can load external filters.

Ok got it. Had to figure out how to go to another version, but it works. Strange though one must go through "Filters". Changing versions via "Navigate" would seem more logical.

During playback in MPC-HC also hickups at the same scene/time-points, but the artifact is different now. Seems as if a couple of tenths of a second is skipped. Again, the hickup doesn't occur in the 1977 theatrical version.
FYI also MPC-HC reports the 1981 special edition's duration as 02:02:49.

the navigation in a mkv-file is diffrent to the dvd-navigation.
you can set in LAV filters the TrayIcon for the filter. with a right click on it, you can navigate through all streams, chapters and editions.

I found one small bug, but i think it will not the solution for the whole problem.

mostly the last chapter is too short to use, but in this case not. all 3 editions have 20 chapters but the last chapter is ignored by default.
so i have implement a "check" for the last chapter duration.
if the chapter duration less then 2 seconds then will the chapter ignored.

I have made a new "test version" of chapterEditor where you can create eac3to log files.
this log-files could i use to test the Bluray (without having the Bluray).




you will find in the output folder a "title.txt" and a "tracks.txt".
can you upload this two files please?


The first edition in the chapters.xml looks good, all chapter times are strung together.

I guess I made a thinking error. Because the same scene, where the hickup occurs, is used in all 3 versions I assumed that they would be the same source. However, in BDInfo, I took a closer look at the order of which .m2ts files are played for each playlist.
In the 2 "faulty" versions, the hickup occurs in the last moments of 00015.m2ts, before going on to 00016.m2ts.
In the 1977 version there is no hickup. Only the same footage is in another m2ts file; 00014.m2ts. At the end, - as said - no hickup and according to the playlist it continues also with 00016.m2ts.
Now, I imported and ran both 2 "hickup" versions directly (as playlist and separately) in mmg earlier. There were no problems with the mkv's playback. I hope this may help you further.

I did 2 tests with your newer version. One with DTS-MA and one with TrueHD (I still think there's something jiffy because of the mentioned HdBr SE log about audio overlaps).
Playback in MPC-HC shows exactly the same hickup in the same versions. Also the 1981 special edition's duration still shows 02:02:49.

Here's your requested files for both DTS-MA and TrueHD in their respective folders.

the duration of all editions should be correct now. it was a small issue, the last m2ts file was sometimes ignored.
LAV filter shows the duration only a second difference to MPC-HC. will certainly be just a rounding error. the 1977 edition plays 2:14:44.681

the muxing process of mmg is sure correct.
tests with the BD T2 were successfully. eac3to also find audio overlaps but the video and sounds plays fine in ever edition.

perhaps mmg muxing incorrect in your case. There is a new button "BD demux". all tracks will be demuxed and then you can add this tracks manually to mmg and load the tags and chapters XML.

or your MPC-HC settings are not the best. i use madVR as video renderer. its only for 32bit MPC-HC. mabye it helps you.

...I ran both 1981 and 1998 versions directly through mmg (direct import of mpls file from BD) to see what happened. Both mkv's with TrueHD or DTS-MA play without problem, so I doubt if the "video hickup" is due to a faulty mmg/mkvmerge itself.

As importing just one "hickup" version results in a mkv without the hickup, mmg would only mux multi-version incorrectly then in this case.
Mmmh, don't know what to think here. Have to try some things out.

i cant rebuild the BD without the m2ts files. the mpls and the eac3to logs is not enough :-)

i used this files and found the issues. but a whole muxing of the BD is not possible.
with the BD demux button you get the right streams. eac3to will apply audio overlaps correction.

or you try to convert a audio track to FLAC. i always convert DTS-MA and TrueHD to FLAC.

the eac3to logs, MPLS's, tracks.xml and chapters.xml helps me only for creating a mmg without having the bluray (m2ts-files).
Only with the whole BD i could make a mkv. So i can't test it completely.


Edit: would it help you to provide you with HdBR SE log maybe?

Direct remuxing by importing the mmg- + xml-files gives the same hickups again.

Your suggested way with the BD Demux button seems to do the job. In MPC-HC no more hickup, the durations are ok. As I do a lot of subtitle editing, it would seem convenient to be able to have the elementary streams of multi editions. Haven't looked into it deeper and will do some playing around with it later though.

A few questions: the demuxed DTS-MA track has .dtsma extension. I thought eac3to demuxed these streams default as .dtshd. It's not a big deal, but the stream doesn't show up initially when browsing in mmg's import window. One has to choose "All files" and then it pops up. Is it much work to make chapterEditor change this elementary stream extension to .dtshd?

I will test with TrueHD, both TrueHD & DTS-MA and edited sup files also, when there's time.

the demux process of eac3to is set with the " *.* " for file generating (normaly: the switch -demux), all extension will be set automaticly by eac3to.
so is the normal extension for DTS-HD MA -> .dtsma
for DTS HiRes -> dtshr and normal .dts extension.
I do not know if it would make sense to change the extension.

the .dtsma file can be loaded with drag and drop into mmg.
maybe Mosu will update this for the import window.

No, it handles TrueHD audio perfectly. I'll try to clarify.

In case of TrueHD audio, it would be convenient to be able to choose between these 3 options in cE's GUI:

a) 1 audiotrack: embedded AC3 only
b) 1 audiotrack: TrueHD only
c) 2 audiotracks: one with embedded AC3 and one with TrueHD

I came across something while testing further. I created a 5 minutes test BD.
Importing this in ChapterEditor gives this message windows from eac3to: HD DVD / Blu-Ray disc structure not found.
I couldn't find a clarifying answer in my search in eac3to and HdBr SE forums.
Any idea what could be wrong? The test-BD plays fine on my pc. Burned it on a BD-RE and plays ok in my standalone.

Strange, found something out. When a BD folder structure is too small, HdBR SE will not retrieve files. Streams-window stays blank. Importing the m2ts as "file" does work though. Don't know what to think of this: is it eac3to or the front-end?
Anyhow, it's also what makes cE giving the eac3to error. Flipping point is approx 15-16 minutes. So my 5 min. test BD won't work.

load everything and for the first test use eac3to audio convert for the DTS-HD or TrueHD track. (add to mmg) and mux it with the converted audio(FLAC or mp4 or AC3).

if there are hiccup during the playing we will know the problem could be the video.

ok. now we know the video produced the hiccups. I think the gaps are not processed correctly. i try to figure out how works the "time-code-file". In the DVDMenuXtractor program such files are generated and processed in mmg. Maybe this will be the solution.

mmh im not sure, but the subs are decoded and displayed by MPC-HC. in the option of mpc-hc -> playback -> open settings you find a checkbox "Auto-load subtitles". this is necessary for the subs.

before there was a bluray, I have the subs loaded with VSFilter. (turned off auto-load). but only mpc-hc can cause wide bluray sups.
but there was an issue. if I jump through the video the sups are not correctly displayed.
often is the last shown sup shows twice before the next sup displayed. or no sup will be displayed for a short time (20 secs).
then i installed madVR and the sup issues are almost gone. madVR is a video renderer and you can after installing it set on the option in mpc-hc in the playback->output->page.(only 32bit)

Yeah this frontend for eac3to comes with MeGUI. But you can put it in any folder with he eac3to.exe.

Have been playing with MPC-HC auto-sub load settings and madVR - can't get SUP to work properly. Text based subs play fine. I wonder if something's wrong with my pc, or maybe different demuxers/decoders/filters conflict.

Earlier I had also often installed to many different codecs.
which was then of course conflicts.

LAV filters is very good and Haali is outdated, but AV Splitter I have installed because the Blurays.

Madshi has also written a subtitle filter. (XySubFilter for madVR)
but i dont know this tool.

because in XML format can also be hidden chapter I have adapted the chapter naming accordingly.
Thus, the chapter numbers remain visible in sequence.

mmh very pity. maybe you have installed too many codecs which interfere now.

if you mux the multi-editions-mkv with the "BD demux procedure" there are still the SUP issues?
or is the SUP issue a generall problem(in mpc-hc)?

SUP is a general issue in MPC-HC. Have been trying out intensively. Maybe found something in SubtitleEdit's output, which maybe is not consistent.
But both export SUP files from EasySUP and BDSup2Sub give problems too.

Yes, I was aware of that, but no luck.
Things seem to have improved with mpc-hc new version.
Thereby, I think I found something with SubtitleEdit's ouput. Will work on it further and if need be post in the author's thread.

since the multi versions editor sometimes the finished mkv seems to stutter, you get the BD demux button, which then demux everything.
you could then load everything in mmg and mux.

the whole is now automated, it is also a chapters.xml, Tags.xml and the mmg-file created ("selectablly" during checkbox).

the checkbox "selectablly" brings even more functionality for BD demuxing.
you can then in the ListView the individual tracks on / deselect track sequence-change and save the video as an optional mkv.
is not a file name for the mmg / mkv "BD_demux" will be awarded automatically used as the name.

at a BD I had to find that eac3to the last small m2ts file can not process properly.
then I have the corresponding mpls file is loaded directly into mmg and behold also there are back mmg an error message.

Error: The track number 2 from the file 'H:\BDMV\STREAM\00003.M2TS'
cannot be appended to the track number 2 from the file 'H:\BDMV\STREAM\00057.M2TS'. The track parameters do not match.

I sent mosu a bug report using eac3to and then we talked a bit. but he could not replicate the error.

the last m2ts is not even a second long, so it may actually be ignored.
I have then Multi Editions Editor also done in a checkbox and installed with which you can choose to omit this.

and a few other minor things have been fixed and improved.

Hi hubblec4,

I came across something. Every now and then I use ChapterGrabber to easily get chapternames from music discs and save them as MKV xml file. In the past chapterEditor accepted these xml outputs - for editing - without a problem.
When I import them now, cE gives me error "This xml file is not supported."

I don't know from what version of cE this behaviour is, but can you have a look at it? As far as I know the version of CG did not change.

ChapterGrabber's XML files do not correctly use the matroskachapters.dtd match.

There are no UIDs for the editions or the chapters, but this are mandatory elements.
The timecodes are not correctly too (but works).

i have not much time at the moment.
the best way for the moment, you save the chapter as "chapter text file.txt"
in Chapter Grabber.

now you can load the chapter file without issues and save it as xml file.
