Looks good now.

I have noticed that the chapters are listed twice...

hubblec4
11th February 2024, 02:51
You mean for the normal mkv creation.
Ahh, I guess I have forgotten to ignore the chapters from the mpls input for the options.json file.
With the .mtxcfg file (create the MKV manually) the mpls-chapters are ignored(not used).

There is a new cE version with several improvements and a few bugs have been fixed.

DGDemux version 1.0.0.73 must now be used for BD2mkv because Rocky has made important improvements.

chapterEditor(cE) rev1.43 is available.
Have tried to open multiple OGM chapters and applied rename checking the 'all tabs'. Rename is ok but when saving with middle click, it doesn't.

hubblec4

....saving with middle click, it doesn't.

Hmm, works fine here with local files in a folder on the desktop.

Try with these (https://www.mediafire.com/file/175xix6i821fdrm/Dark_gathering_BDJP.7z/file).

I used it many times, it's giving me a bad headache now.

EDIT: I downloaded a fresh clean version, deleted everything. It works now. :)

@hubblec4

Thanks for chapterEditor!
But, how do I save all the tabs to .xml in one go? Right now, I have to manually save each tab, one by one, and if there are dozens of them, it can be kinda boring and time-consuming.

hubblec4
11th April 2024, 01:49
Hi marooned2

Welcome to Doom9 forum.

With a middle click on the Save button, all tabs will be saved. You will find this info in the status bar of cE when the mouse is over the Save button.

marooned2
16th April 2024, 17:28
Thanks but it saves just one tab or none at all even though it says "Saving all tabs was successful".
Doesn't work even if I run chE as Admin.

hubblec4
16th April 2024, 19:51
OK, which chapter editor do you use? Matroska, OGG or multiAVCHD?

marooned2
16th April 2024, 20:08
Matroska, and I always save files to .xml (not xml + matroska files).
Can it be fixed by editing chE config file?

hubblec4
16th April 2024, 22:53
It works fine here.

See some posts above, tormento had the same problem.
Please try with a clean fresh install of cE.

marooned2
18th April 2024, 22:09
Well, no luck here even after starting chE from scratch. I even tried adding an exception in Avast but to no avail.
chE does batch-save cue files but can't save all tabs.

hubblec4
19th April 2024, 11:59
Very strange.
Can you try this test version (https://forum.videohelp.com/attachments/77659-1710367632/cE.7z), please?

What means "batch-save cue files"? (cE has no cue editor)

marooned2
19th April 2024, 23:12
The test version doesn't work either.

I meant Converter-->CueSheet.

hubblec4
20th April 2024, 10:32
I need more info about what you are doing.
What file do you load? Which format have the files?
Do you load a folder or multiple files?

Can you share with me some files?

marooned2
21st April 2024, 20:15
I load multiple files, all in txt format.
Here are the some examples in the attachment (currently pending approval)

hubblec4
22nd April 2024, 10:46
Uploading here in this forum is not good. it takes toooooo much time for the approval.

OK, but I guess I see the issue.
You said you load .txt files:
You can only do a direct save when the files already in this format like the editor handles.

.txt files can not be saved as .xml files without an explicit new filename.

marooned2
23rd April 2024, 19:52
So, how can I add "an explicit new filename" ?

hubblec4
23rd April 2024, 21:19
So, how can I add "an explicit new filename" ?

A new file name is always re-entered through a save dialog.
Every program works in this way if the original format was not in the loaded file in the editor.

That's understandable because if cE simply overwrites this loaded file, the original content will be lost. In addition, the file extension is also incorrect.

Once you have loaded your file into the Matroska Chapter Editor and press the "Save" button, a save dialog will appear.
The next time you click on the “Save” button, it will be saved immediately.

The question I have is where do the chapter files come from?
Which program creates it and couldn't cE do it right away?

I also thought about it a long time ago whether it would make sense to allow/incorporate direct saving for "foreign" chapter formats.
The thing looks like this:
A new file name is needed.
We could now simply say: just swap the file extension. For your chapter files it would then be w21_02.xml.
The problem is, it can't be used that generally.
There are also chapter formats that are already stored in an XML structure, and therefore exchanging the file extension would no longer make sense.

Is there a way to batch remove from all tabs trivial chapters as 00:00:00.000?

Thanks.

No, I have many with the first starting at 00:00:00.000.

If you prefer, add a function to add it, as my request comes from episodes saved as one huge m2ts, that I split with MKV to the different episodes. Unfortunately just the first one starts without 00 while the other haven’t that chapter.

I find a bit odd that to apply to all tabs I have to use right click while save all tabs uses middle click.

Could you uniform that behaviour?

hubblec4

Not really, the right click on the save button was first there and has a important function, and a change now will be much work.

Dear hubble,I tested again today following your suggestions, and indeed, after adding the target UID, the settings can be saved. However, both Foobar2000 and AIMP fail to recognize the tags information. If I remove the target UID, it reverts to the default value of "50". I tried adding manually edited tags using mkvtoolnix without the target UID, and both foobar2000 and AIMP can recognize the tags. Additionally, I found a new tag editor on GitHub, https://github.com/Martchus/tageditor, which works without any issues, and they also default to not adding the target UID. When I exported the added tags using gMKVExtractGUI, all tags were without the target UID. However, I noticed in the exported tags.xml that if your chapterEditor disables TargetType and target UID, then all tags lack TargetTypeValue, which doesn't happen in other apps. Could you please test this again? Thank you very much!

Would you please consider the capability to import/export qp files, according to a defined framerate?

I mean, drag and drop qp to create chapters and export chapters (even in batch mode) to qp.

For chapters to qp I can use the utility included with DGToolsNV but the inverse is not available.

When I copy the content, save to a normal text file and load in cE -> works.
I have found that the problem is the file extension. Just rename .txt to .qp and it will stop working.

I use .qp to distinguish from chapters, that usually have .txt extension.

Add .qp to the supported file types, please.

P.S: As QP list defines the I-frames and the chapter file is sometime offset by some frames, it could be nice to load both files and visually compare the differences.

Look at these two files (https://www.mediafire.com/file/cxnwpbkwhgjrts6/S01_D1_001-006.7z/file) to understand what I mean.

As you can see, QP file is huge compared to the chapter one, as it includes all the detected scene changes. I usually give a scan to the video with PySceneDetect (https://github.com/Breakthrough/PySceneDetect), to have clean scene/chapters cuts.

Unfortunately I have to fix the chapter file manually.
