Although it's development seems to be frozen, it has some nice features, and it does handle subs better than MPUI.

scale does not just scale it also performs a YUV<−>RGB colorspace conversion!!!
IIRC -vf scale achieves a true colorspace conversion only when accompanied by -vf format. Try for instance enforcing RGB 15/16/24/32.
Now, if only MPUI subtitles options are managed correctly...
Inexact statement. There is no bug/error in the way MPUI handles subs. It is true, though, that it's approach is rather minimalistic... ;)

Thanx for MPF link.Yep, MPUI(as a GUI) subs approach is less then minimalistic...i can't even change default arial font via config. But what's the point of MPUI subs suggestion when MuldeR've already stated: "Too much work" and he's not a developer too. Anyway, I'm grateful for his MPUI releases. It was not my intention to be sarcastic....and please, I've already got answer from LoRd_MuldeR, there's no need to speak in his name. I always accept people as they are, and there's a plenty of mplayer inexperiance people who use MPUI and don't watch German and English movies only and need those GUI subs options. when I put this parameter sound is but I think it is not the same good effect as I have in Media Player Classic and Power DVD.
MPC and PDVD direct audio data to my JBL amplifier and it process sound. And on the panel then I see DIG.OPT/Surround/Dolby. I think direct audio data means SPDIF.
In MPlayer I see only DIG.OPT/Surround/Prologic/PCM and sound is worst :( because software in PC control it :(

Try to change the "Sound output driver" to Win32, and that the "Additional MPlayer parameters" are -sws 9 -afm hwac3,

I got my system to work with those settings.

About "-afm hwac3,"... First of all, it is meant to be used on mixed AC3/DTS content, not on pure AC3 content. Second of all, when specifying codec families, the coma [,] isn't really needed because the fall back is enabled by default.
As a side note, I don't use now, nor do I intend to, Vista. If you tried '-ao win32" and it worked, then it's ok.

BTW, I see you didn't use "-channels". Are you sure that you actually played back multichannel streams ? :)

Yes I think I have, I've played many movies with either DD or DTS, and my receiver decodes it to 5.1. Or are we even talking about the same thing? :)

I just read in an article that Vista disables all Digital Outputs unless you use 'Vista certified' hardware with encrypted output, such as HDMI.
That's part of all that DRM crap!

I highly recommend you uninstall that shit, bring it back to store and get your money back !!!

It only disables digital when protected codepath is activated (which is usually upon inserting an AACS-encrypted disk, possibly when WMV encryption is activated as well). I don't think it activates for CSS at all. Not that I don't agree it's crap.

Then someone of the dev team, who knows about the details, needs to find out what's the difference in the way ffplay and MPlayer handle the file and why MPlayer doesn't work properly. Since I'm not a MPlayer developer, I won't be able to fix your problem. All I can do is updating the build, once it has been fixed. Sorry...

libmpdemux and libavformat both have mov/mp4 parsers. Try adding -demuxer lavf to force lavf since that is what ffplay would use. If it works then at least you know where the problem is.

Yes, there is a reason to tell the user that his browser doesn't work properly. I don't understand why anybody should use a commercial browser that doesn't display validated(!) HTML 4.01 conform code as it should, when there are various free alternatives that work 100% fine :rolleyes:

But nobody will force you to do anything, it's just a friendly advice.
And as long as this software is provided for free, IMHO you can't claim anything...

Nevertheless, if you look at the first post, you'll find more than one DL location :p

There is a bug with mplayer.exe. When I run MPUI.exe, and play a realmedia video (.rmvb), I can only hear audio, not see the video. However, if I replaced the mplayer.exe with the one compiled by someone at oss.netfarm.it/mplayer-win32.php, the video plays perfectly.

MPlayer.exe form my pack is the latest SVN build by Celtic Druid.
Maybe something got broken in ths revision or it's a build issue.
Did you try to select another build in installer? (like Generic instead a CPU specific one)

Got on interesting information:

Previous [MPlayer] builds only loaded binary codecs from PATH, not ./codecs which caused some problems for people with rm/wmv

So I think it will be fixed with the next update ASAP :D

MPlayer builds updated to 2007-01-26. There was a bug introduced in the previous builds, so DLLs from ./codecs folder were not loaded. This broke Real and WMV playback on some systems. Those problems should be fixed now! Furthermore NSIS was updated to v2.23.

Note: For some reason the new builds say "MPlayer dev-SVN-rUNKNOWN-4.0.3 (C) 2000-2007 MPlayer Team", but as far as I can say, this doesn't cause any problems. So you don't need to care about it...

Hmmm, we should be happy to have a working OpenSource h.264 player at all.
Or is there any free decoder available that performs better? I'm not aware of any :(

Why was the PIII CPU option during install taken out in this release? I have a PIII 700mhz computer, and I just chose "Runtime CPU Detection (Generic)" this time.

Also, on the next release can you have all 3 file associations options available during install? It'd be a nice feature to have so we don't have to re-set the file associations after install.

Celtic Druid did not make a special P3 build this time.
I guess he stopped making P3 builds, because he started making Core2 builds.

Nevertheless the Generic builds will work just fine on your P3 CPU.

The "Set File Associations" tool works as expected: The job of this tool is to set file associations for MPlayer, neither to remove those associations nor to make any associations for other applications! So if you uncheck certain options, then associations for those files won't be changed. I'm pretty sure this works properly. Of course if associations were already changed before, then you cannot undo those changes with a second run of the "Set File Associations" tool! If you want to associate files with a different application than MPlayer, that will be the job of that application, not MPlayer's job.
