I have installed this package of MPUI and everything works fine, but is there a way of outputting the audio via SPDIF when playing videos with 5.1 sound?
I have successfully done this with MPC and VLC, but I cannot find any such options in MPUI.

Mplayer is great for playing divx movies with subtitles (text formats). But I have problems with the microdvd style of subtitles (*.SUB)- a timing is strongly asynchronous (with media player classic is all ok).
SubRip style (*.SRT, time based) is ok.

Why? And what can I do for correcting this problem (except subs conversion)?

Thanks for the great package. Love the MPlayer and the MPUI gui. However, I can't figure one thing out... how to make the mouse scroll button fast forward & rewind the video instead of adjusting the volume? I've seen this in other gui's (I think RulezPlayer). Can this also be done in MPUI?

Of course it could be done in MPUI, but in current version the hotkeys are not configurable, sorry. Editing the MPlayer config files won't help here, because MPUI processes all inputs and passes the commands to MPlayer.

I have used the beta official gui, but it sucks. I love the WMP 6.4, MPC look and feel.

Small suggestions for the gui:
- it would be nice a keyboard shortcut to the Information panel (eg.: I )
- it would be nice a keyboard shortcut to the consol output panel (eg.: O )
- like in MPC, if we click on the window it would start/pause the playing
- like in MPC, the UP and Down arrows would set the volume
- in settings: a new option would come in handy, where we can select the channels of the sound output. eg.: 2.0 , 4.0 , 5.1, SPDIF , etc. (if it's easy to implement)

And not play-specific suggestion:
- It would be nice if the gui would have a Conversion Wizard like in VLC gui (or similar, which easier to implement), where major video, audio formats can be set ...

Packaging suggestion:
- a selectable option for mencoder ('cause if I select MPUI/Mplayer , it doesn't intall mencoder ...)

The package now includes only MPlayer.exe, because it's a player package and thus doesn't need MEncoder.exe. If you are looking for an MEncoder GUI, then check out my MEncoder264 app :D

The installer was compiled with NSIS, the MPlayer binaries are provided by Celtic Druid and the MPUI.exe is compiled by myself under Delphi7 Pro. There definitely is no "Trojan" included :mad:

Did you check it back with other AV software? If only one alerts, this says nothing...

It would not be the first time that it gives a false alarm with its weak signatures. Anyways, Gooogle didn't give me any trasonable description in english of that "trojan-downloader.win32.zlob.kz".

Go to "Extras > Options" and add this parameter:
-vf-add scale=x:y
Where x and y is the target resolution. For example:

Backup your MPUI.ini before installing a new version!
But be sure, I will "fix" this in next release :)

I don't know if this is the case. But if so, it won't work with the current version of MPUI. That's for sure...

There is no need for an uninstaller ;)

MPlayer is a self-contained application. There are no files installed to any other directory than the install folder you choose during setup. So for uninstall it's enough to delete this folder in Windows Explorer and you are done. But you won't need to do this for an unpdate! Just run the new installer and let it install to the same directory as before. It will even remember the install location form now on. Old files will be replaced automatically with new versions. Of course you have to make sure MPlayer isn't runing during install.

Not really. Try use this: -sws 9 -vf-add scale=x:y
This will use Lanczos resize, which should give best quality.

Is it possible to make MPUI work around the "slightly" annoying "unpause" problem when using seek bar. What i mean is that if i have the movie on pause and i use the seek(bar) it will automatically start the playback. :(

Otherwise mplayer is pretty impressive...

I think when the host application sends a 'seek' command to MPlayer, then it will unpause the player. This could be worked arround by sending a 'pause' command right after the 'seek' command, but I don't know if it really makes sens. Anyway this would be a feature request for MPUI.

I can't imagine how DVD menu-support should work in MPlayer. Maybe controlling the menu's via Keyboard hotkeys only? But no matter if it is available or not, it would need a lot of changes in MPUI to use it...

It’s really a shame that MPUI doesn’t manage DVD menus: it’s a big minus for people looking for a single reader, because MPUI would have many of the needed features. Also some of the freeware “competitors” do manage DVD menus (although in a non-optimal way such as MPC).

Celtic_Druid, if I remember well the patch you were mentioning was only for Linux, useless then for a user as I am (without the needed skills to port that piece of sw in a windows environment).

When an InstantPlayer is executed, it will extract MPlayer, MPUI and the media file to a temp folder. After playback has ended, this temp folder will be cleaned (deleted). Next time you run the InstantPlayer, the files will be extracted to a new temp folder and so on. This means if you save any settings, then the MPUI.INI will be saved in the temp folder and thus removed after the InstantPlayer is closed. No way to save any settings at this point. Nevertheless MPUI should use your OS's language by default.

I just made a few changes to MPUI. It is now able to handle multiple instances. This means instead of creating a new player, the running instance will play the video! Furthermore you can add files to Playlist via command-line or Explorer (MPUI.exe -enqueue "x:\some path\video.avi"). Not tested very much, but seems to work. Furthermore fixed a problem, that somtimes made "short" file names appear instead of full name.
