Yeah, I get exactly the same plus worse it appears to kill MeGUI altogether for me. I can't restart the program after it's been killed or even start it after a reboot. Only choice is uninstall and reinstall the entire app!I have the same Bug. The Job History is NOT removed if MeGUI is currently processing a job but if megui jumps to the next job (eg. 2nd pass) an error occours and meguis quits.
You can make MeGUI running again by deleting the xml files containing the jobs (check the "jobs" directory in the MeGUI root directory)!
Good luck and a stressless time @ Shark :)

For me, if I have created jobs in megui (then encoding, exit megui), and after restarting megui: it complains about invalid jobs and the only way to restart it when I delete the job xml files from the jobs folder...
@Sharktooth: No problem, just do your own business ... And don't forget rest some time ... :)

the job should be loaded into the main window, you can then edit it and click 'update'

guys I have having problems with the latest version
The problem is I can't load an avs file into megui, it would take a long time to decompress the video and then error occurs, saying that maybe my avisynth is not installed properly and etc. I even uninstall and installed the latest version of avisynth.
I tested the avs in MPC and even VDM and it works fine. Another problem is I can't open any of the video files in my comp, it would just shuts megui off and I need to reopen it again. Can someone help me on this?

did you set the right program path for avisynth in MeGUI's options?

Yup the settings are all automatically set since I update the megui only from my previous versions, all of it can work previously

I found my first bug! (sorry if its been reported already.)
I used megui to convert a 51 minute 29.97fps mpg file to mp4 (took 8 hours!). But after muxing, I found that it had thought that the video was 24fps. I've traced it to the d2v file created from within megui.
I have dgindex installed to it's own directory, but hadn't yet used it. At install, it seems to default to forcing film for pulldowns; the setting is stored in dgindex.ini, which was used when I created the d2v file.
dgindex.ini defaults to force film for pulldowns:
Field_Operation=1
what I needed was for it to honor pulldown flags:
Field_Operation=0
I've set it back and forth, and get the same results. If set to 1, then the d2v mis-classifies my mpg video as being film. When set to 1, it correctly identifies it as video.
I don't know how important this is. I've been hacking away with this program for the better part of 2 months, and am now at a point where I can figure out why my videos aren't as good as I hope.
Thank you for a great program.

Piling on...
Also encountered the job deletion issue
adaptive muxer seems to have a problem with xvid/mp3 output. When I do an autoencode, the xvid and lame encoding output is fine, but the muxed video output in the avi container is junk. File sizes (video+audio != muxed file) don't add up right. I can take the separate video and audo files and mux them with VDM and they're perfect.
Profiles don't import through the update process -- I get a blank selection window when asked to choose the profiles I want to import. This occurred twice with complete uninstall, intall/update passes. However, if I download the profile zips from the megui site and import them via the import command under the file menu, everything works fine.
Specifying output filenames/containers in various places doesn't "stick". For example, if I chood XVID, tell MeGUI to use the MP4 container, I still get an AVI for the video file.

Yeah same. Autoencode is ok, but when done manually it gets all screwed up - i posted a screenshot of what the video looked like a few pages back. So I use VDM to mux now.
Also, MeGUI's hasn't updated anything for over a week. It connects to servers but says there's no updates.
These are the add's im using atm
megui.org/auto
mewiki.project357.com/auto
Are these wrong ? or is there just no updates. There's plenty of bug's being posted so I'd imagine I'm missin out on some updates

Oh yeah. I forgot.
Thanks

Thanks. There's nothing wrong with doing it in VDM is there ?
Btw. Before I said that "if i 'autoencode' with xvid, then it muxes alright" but i take that back. It never muxes alright, whether it's done automatically or manually afterwards
Also, I did use 'autoencode' and now it's been muxed and screwed up. Is there anyway I can get the original video file before it was muxed ? MeGUI seems to have deleted it. Doh

Don't know if this has been reported yet - obviously don't have time to go through the whole thread. :)
version: latest build 0.2.4.1026
If you have multiple jobs queued and shift-select them all then hit the delete button, you get an exception and have to force kill MeGUI in the task manager. This is totally reproducable.
In one instance, I did the above, and MeGUI wouldn't start anymore, even after a reboot. I had to do a clean install/update of it. I haven't been able to reproduce this one yet - but it's definitely linked to the above bug.

When I encode xvid It goes through all steps fine. When It get the muxing stage I end up with an avi with sound and a black screen. This happens using autoencode. I can manually encode the xvid avi and the audio and mux them externally using avimuxgui and everything is fine. this only happens with xvid and avi container.
well looks like im not the only one with this bug but as another user said 94 pages is alot to go through to see if its already posted. ill leave this post if a mod wants to delete its ok.

EDIT: I tried using the plein avisynth script as generated by D2V-creator with no modifications of my own whatsoever.
The problem is still there. Megui reports the job has error, but leves me no clue to what after 39 MB of encode.
Anyone any idea what it could be, or what info do I have to provide for you to take me seriously?
original message:
Hi, can someone help me figure out whats wrong?
I created an AVS script wich displays nicely in AVSp.
Megui also opens it. But after 4 Megs of encode it skips the job saying it contains errors,
Then the next job (same video, other script), same problem.
Twice.
Leaving me with no idea whatsoever.

Hey everyone.. Not sure if this bug has been reported, but I'm not too excited about sifting through 94 pages :D
Anyway, it's still in the latest version and has been there for a long time. Basically, if you go into the configuration for x264, under the RC and ME tab there are lots of options as we all know. Sometimes it's nice to be able to use the 'tab' key on the keyboard to iterate through all the options, especially keyframe interval and min gop size. Unfortunately, when you do this, it doesn't iterate in any logical order! :)
for example, enter a value for keyframe interval, hit tab, and you will be in the noise reduction box two boxes down!!! Not too important, but it irritates me!

Sorry, just saw the bug was psoted before.
---
Got the following problem with MeGui:
- whenever I use AutoEncode to create an avi(xvid/mp3), the avi ist broken.
- if I manually queue the streams there's not problem
- if I use another container, there's no problem
(And no neither avi-mux gui nor the adaptive muxer in megui can remux the stream to avi, so a workaround like first convert to mkv then remux doesn't work :()
Would be nice if this could be fixed.

Thanks. VDM muxes fine.
MeGUI's muxer's got the issues (not just for me but for many people).
It's no real problem. It would just be a lot easier if the Megui muxer would automatically mux - save me about 10 seconds of opening up VDM - or other muxer - and muxing there.

I'm pretty sure this is an issue with the order in which the boxes are drawn.

I figured maybe the VOB vould be corrupt (if even possible)?
I randomly encoded a video,
(avi -> quicktime proflie, no post processing -> x264)
Log says output is succesful, yet displays a weird bitrate
"encoded 21611 frames, 4.77 fps, 1388590.28 kb/s "
And the output shows nothing but black.
I uninstalled Megui, end downloaded megui again,
reinstalled.
encoded a video with standard profile. no pst processing
again same error
Now tell me what did I didnt try yet or havent done to try and figure it out myself?
Nobody wants to help me? no?

Thanks. VDM muxes fine.
MeGUI's muxer's got the issues (not just for me but for many people).
It's no real problem. It would just be a lot easier if the Megui muxer would automatically mux - save me about 10 seconds of opening up VDM - or other muxer - and muxing there.
when i said vdm has issues with ac3 i meant if you try cutting the avi, there have been reports that it knocks it out of sync - believe this only happens with ac3 tho
@bananacreamandpeca
try it without spaces and the + in the folder and file names

Ok. I never really do XviD with AC3 - always do MP3.
But I'll keep that AVI MUX GUI just in case.
Thanks again

MeGui seems to look for the .xcm files under /extra/ in the wrong place.

xvid_encraw - raw mpeg4 bitstream encoder written by Christoph Lampert 2002-2003
Error opening input file extra\eqm_v3ulr_rev3.xcm
Using FileMon, I found that it was actually trying to open:
C:\dvd images\TAS_DISC1\extra\eqm_v3ulr_rev3.xcm
Copying the xcm file to that directory worked.

@bananacreamandpeca
why did you post that log? It's something with x264 crashing. Run x264 from the command line and see if it crashes and or closes without outputting any info.
Your error is likely a result of faulty ram or an overclocked/unstable system.

@ottar
you have to point them to where the file actually sits, defaultly it sits under
eg C:\Program Files\megui\tools\xvid_encraw\extra\some.xcm
or look here :)

@ ottar
When I put them in the directory
\megui\tools\xvidencraw\extra
it doesn't find them
I gotta find it manually (which is no big deal - and only takes about 5 seconds). Then I just update the profile so that I don't have to do it again next time
Click 'config' > zones > quantizer matrix and then just make sure you find the right one (the name is already listed there). Note that for different profiles, the matrix is different.

Not sure if this is a bug or not, but only noticed it since the new x264 revision, so I'm sorry if this is the wrong place.
After finishing a successful encode, MeGUI seems to hold on to 100% cpu usage until it's closed completely (whereas x264 would've been using it during the encode, and then drop to idle afterwards).
Edit: Sorry, ignore this. I noticed it only seems to be the case when Process Explorer is running at the same time (I was checking thread amounts of x264). Probably a bug with PE.

well i updated everything including megui but i still have a problem
there is always a delay when encoding audio in megui
the delay change depending on the source sometime less than 200ms and sometime more than a 1sec
it does not matter what audio codec NeroAAC, lame... i use to encode the audio i still have the delay
the delay amount does not change when i change audio codec only change when using other source (this happen when using audio in video or even at normal mp3)
i tried differents sources in avi, mkv, and ogm and have this problem.
since the amount change everytime i cant keep encoding and trying to guess the amount to adjust it manually :(
Edit:: when i compare the source and megui encoded audio file the megui is shorter
source anime episode: 24min26sec
megui output: 24min13sec
same thing with a mp3
source mp3 music:2min0sec
megui output:1min58sec
whats the cause of this ?

holzi: strange, what is the video source? As for #2, I think that's just lack of bothering on the part of the devs.
We use DirectShowSource not AviSource even for AVIs, because AVISource works less often -- it requires a VFW playback filter, instead of just a DirectShow playback filter.

when deleting a job in MeGUI this error arises:Can you be more specific about this error please? I can't reproduce.
EDIT: Never mind, I found the source of it... it should be fixed.

Profiles don't import through the update process -- I get a blank selection window when asked to choose the profiles I want to import. This occurred twice with complete uninstall, intall/update passes. However, if I download the profile zips from the megui site and import them via the import command under the file menu, everything works fine.Profile import from the web only works from versions 1025 and above. So, if you try to update everything at once, then the profile import will fail. However, profile import should work once you've updated MeGUI (I will check this, though).
Specifying output filenames/containers in various places doesn't "stick". For example, if I chood XVID, tell MeGUI to use the MP4 container, I still get an AVI for the video file.Ummm.... in the main window in MeGUI, you *can't* select XviD and MP4.... please elaborate.

2) "Audio" and "Video" textboxes in second tab of settings don't save the settings.

The number to set not inside max and min.
Does the german Version screw up decimal points?

I have no clue.

23976,xxxxx FPS... is a bit high... it's the usual localization problem (swapped decimal al thousands separators).
Set you windows locale settings to use the dot (.) for separing decimals and the comma (,) for separing thousands...

I upgraded MeGui last night for the first time in months...and now it seems like it crashes every time I try to create an avisynth script. I open an m2ts file in the avisynth script creation dialog and it hangs and eventually crashes.
A friend of mine at work also said that lately megui has been crashing a lot in the middle of encoding. He's running XP 64bit and I'm running Vista 32 bit.
Here is what my crash looks like:
