@ChronoCross: can you describe what you do, because I just tested with 0.2.4.2015 and it works fine....

heh I really wish I could provide some type of error message however I did do some testing.

It appears that if megui is manually updated after the autoupdater fails (did you guys change something because it used to work perfectly before) the issue occurs. If reverted back all jobs enqueued show up.

If you get it to update automatically the problem doesn't occur.

I'm going to put this in the bugs that only occur under wierd and not often likely situations.

hello, thanks for fixing the large fonts issue.

this is how megui looks now:
http://rrs.at/external/megui/megui1.jpg
(usable, all ok)

this is the job window:
http://rrs.at/external/megui/megui2.jpg
(usable, but some buttons are misplaced and not clickable)

this is the preview window, with a small bug, but this one was already there in the previous versions:
http://rrs.at/external/megui/megui-prev1.jpg

this happens when i resize it:
http://rrs.at/external/megui/megui-prev2.jpg

so, no big issue.
again, thanks for fixing!

=======================

there is something else i'd like to report.
i'm encoding my audio to ogg vorbis, multichannel, quality 0.6. the size of the resulting files is the same as when i set it to multichannel, quality 0.3. i also tried quality 1 or quality 0.1 - the files are always the same size. what's wrong?

see this screenshot for an example:
http://rrs.at/external/megui/oggerror.jpg

cheers!

I've updated megui today to version 0.2.4.1018 and m2v files can't be opened with Avisynth Script Creator anymore. Until now I've been working with these files without problems to create a d2v file and the related avs file.

I removed that ability. You have to index it first with the D2V Creator.

Aaah, this problem is fixed up in ver. 0.2.4.1017.:thanks:

Yes it is. Thanks

My MeGUI is 0.2.4.1008. I can't update it because update host at 64.74.232.24 doesn't contain neither XML file nor anything else (domain registration expired?).

I've noticed bug in profile handling. If entry in SelectedProfiles.xml points to non-existing video profile(which was deleted manually outside the program) MeGUI just quits during startup.
In order to make MeGUI start I had to manually edit SelectedProfiles.xml and replace <string>My Profile<string> to <string />.

Another bug (0.2.4.1008):
Prelude: I have a profile that uses x264 in 2-pass mode. Profile is tuned to 1st of 2 passes.

1. I open AVS file, then I select my profile and press "Enqueue". Everything is fine in Queue tab.

2. I keep AVS file, keep profile, then press "Config" button and change mode from "2pass - 1st pass" to "2pass - 2nd pass". Then I press "OK" and "Enqueue". And when I go to the Queue tab I see 2 jobs there. Interesting thing that both jobs have mode "2pass - 1st pass".

I think it's a relatively new bug because I didn't have it on earlier builds(dated more that half of year ago).

BTW, where can I get latest sources? I can handle some problems by myself. I've downloaded SVN sources from sourceforge.net, but it contains very old versions in tag folder, and one from branches\dll can't be compiled due to missing of branches\old:
C:\WINDOWS\Microsoft.NET\Framework\v2.0.50727\Microsoft.CSharp.targets(63,9): error MSB3041: Unable to create a manifest resource name for "..\old\megui_profiles\core\gui\PackageManagerForm.resx". Could not find a part of the path 'D:\Projects\C#\MeGUI\branches\old\megui_profiles\core\gui\PackageManagerForm.cs'.

Aaaaaaaaaah. I just uninstalled MeGUI and now am stuck with just the core and x264. Now I appreciate your (and everyone involved) work and realise how good megui is even more than before.

Is there anywhere to download the whole megui pack (other than the autoupdate). I can only find the megui basic install thing and all the other tools and profiles seperately

I tried to delete some done jobs from the queue and it gives this error:

http://img247.imageshack.us/img247/2092/meguierrorrf7.png

It wont even exit, will keep giving the key not found error. I am doing an End Task now.

Even Clear wont work

I could replicate this error again

1. Queue two jobs, let one job abort (for me the mux job aborts frequently)
2. Close MeGUI and enqueue two more (video) jobs
3. Try to delete the first two jobs in the list

The error is thrown and the only way to get out is to do an End Task.

Sharktooth, I recalled another very old bug:

I have Pentuim-4 with HT. I select 1 thread in Config window for x264 (because I need 2nd virtual core for other tasks). But it writes 2 into job file no matter what I do.

I have to exit MeGUI every time before encoding and manually edit job files:
change --threads 2 to --threads 1
and <NbThreads>2</NbThreads> to <NbThreads>1</NbThreads>.

Please fix.

Nothing wrong, just disable "Automatic set number of threads" in megui settings.

Another bug in 0.2.4.1020 - I think somebody already reported it.

It happens when I select 2 jobs in jobs list and press "Delete" button. Something wrong with selection handling:

6582

It never(I think) happens if I use "Clear" button or use "Delete" button when only one job is selected.

johnsmith
26th December 2006, 16:24
And one more thing... I don't know is it bug or something else...

I have following entry in settings window (and settings.xml as well):
x264 path: D:\Programs\MeGUI\tools\x264\x264.exe

MeGUI uses x264 CLI frome above directory for encoding. But during update process updater writes new x264 executable here: C:\Program Files\x264\x264.exe

Why?

johnsmith
26th December 2006, 18:15
And one more bug:

MeGUI can't shutdown locked workstation. However my UPS software does so without installing 0-ring driver, so I think it's possible for MeGUI as well.

johnsmith
26th December 2006, 18:48
And one more:

Problems during load mkv mux job at startup:

I've created mkv mux job: 1 video file (mkv), 2 audio files (mp3 128 VBR), 2 subtitle files (2 idx/sub pairs), 1 chapters file (UTF-8).

If I try to run job immediately after creating it, the job completes successfully. But if I exit MeGUI and start it again, it says that 'Job ".......\job1.xml" could not be loaded. Delete?'.

The old behaviour should still be easily possible. I'll look into it sometime soon.
Thanks, it would be much useable ...
So, at I'm not the one who don't like this new feature (thanks foxyshadis)...

And: has anyone Sharktooth profiles for the last 2.3.xxx branch ? I made this mistake that I haven't zipped the last known config ... :)
(I have searched with google, I have downloded the latest from x264.nl v33, but this can't be imported ...)

Thanks

@chros
No not the only one. I'm a first time MeGUI user, and didn't want to wreck the nicely configured profiles so said no to overwriting/saving changes to profile. I expected that the changes I had made would still be utilised for the session - most programs I've used seem to work this way - choose a preset and it becomes a temporary custom one as soon as you change anything.

I now have to go back and re-encode for another 12 hours to see what my first proper MeGUI output looks like. :(

@berrinam
Thanks for looking into it.

@MeGUI Developers
Thanks for all the work - so far impressed with the program.

not sure on this one but here goes

in dgindex the films are showing as interlaced - but when i go to create avs and i let it scan to see what type of film megui thinks it is it always says progressive, no i have read other places that most pal sources are progrssive and just marked as interlaced but is this a bug?

Hello i dealing the last days with a crash problem when i try to update megui. At the beginning it crashed when it downloads the core update , but i passed it when a frind gave me the updated megui.exe. When i runned the new version it crashed at the next update : "data" exactly after it downloads the update again.

I have installed/uninstalled the NET Framework , cleared the registry from any megui recordings , deleted and re-created the folder of megui trying with the 3 last versions from scratch and from the completed folder that i had before i made format my pc.

The known window of "Megui has encoutered a problem..." appears each time..

This happens whenever I try to erase certain jobs like linked jobs from AutoEncode (especially when megui is encoding something else on the list).

i can confirm this - using 2.4.1022 - if you del say job-1.1 it will delete the job (and all others in the que) and flip up an error, if you try to close megui by pressing the x on the top corner another error pops up and the only way to kill it is to open task manager and kill the process

Another thing with the update:

it doesn't seem to download the TXvid profiles. It says it downloaded but doesn't have anything to import when you update

also, all the cqm files and that that are needed for the xvid encoding profiles aren't there

Sharktooth
27th December 2006, 16:47

@Sharktooth or any dev - any update on the other two issues i posted about - megui saying most of the interlaced films im trying to do are progressive and the queue analysis pass not turning up in the que when selected ?

would it be possible to provide part of the source? So that it can be investigated using your actual conditions.

27th December 2006, 20:51
ye how big a file you need and where do i send em, ones i have tested so far are chopper PAL R2 and lee evans XL tour, i did test al murry giving it both barrels (again pal r2) dgindex says interlaced megui says hybrid intelaced / film

spanky123
27th December 2006, 23:12
It crashes a lot with me now. First it crashed when I just updated the TXvid profiles, then it crashes when I try delete jobs from the queue.

And then it doesn't start again. It just crashes (send error report) before it opens up properly

It's not an unstable system either i dont think. Never had this problem until a couple days ago.

Hi,

Since I have updated to 1020 or 1022 today, MeGUI no longer works for me on my x86_64 Windows.

If I use a x86 version of Windows, I have no issues whatsoever.

The issue(s) I have:

When opening an DV2 file I get an error that looks like it is unable to find the AVS filter to decode the DV2 file. Ahh... I say to myself, maybe my filters are missing / messed up. Nope, they are all in my Avisynth directory.

So then I go check the Settings-Program Paths information on MeGUI. HEY! What happened to my plugins directory?!?!? It's blank now, no listing of a directory. That's OK, I will just manually add it! OK, so I pick my directory and I get-

"MeGUI encountered a fatal error and may not be avle to proceed. Reason: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source of exception: MeGUI stacktrace: at MeGUI.MeGUISettings.set_AvisynthPluginsPath(String value)

at System.Windows.Forms.Control.OnClick(EventArgs e)
at System.Windows.Forms.Button.OnMouseUp(MouseEventArgs mevent)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.WmMouseUp(Message& m, MouseButtons button, Int32 clicks)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control. WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.ButtonBase.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Button.WndProc(Message & m)
at System.Windows.Forms.Control.ControlNativeWindow.WndProc(Message& m)
at System.Windows.Forms.NativeWindow.Callback(IntPtr hWnd, Int32 msg, IntPtr wparam, IntPtr lparam)

Well shoot. So I check to make sure it's not a path issue by moving the directory to a location with no spaces in the path off the root. No luck.

I also tried copying over the settings.xml file from my working x86 Windows machine, and the Avisynth directory is still blank.

Just so I can add as much as possible, this was not an issue prior to 1020 or maybe 1019. I manually updated from the x264.nl site because the auto update server wasn't working any more.

I even tried copying the entire MeGUI directory from my working x86 machine to my x86_64 machine, but the problem happens only on x86_64.

I am going back to using the last available working version (2.3.2193) and update everything I can before it breaks (no profiles, etc). I would appreciate it if the 2.4.1019 or prior version could be made available. I hate going this far back as none of my created profiles work any more.

I am also willing to be a tester for any version you guys produce. I am anxious to go back to using the current version of the best encoder available!

Thanks

Hi,

I reinstalled .net 2.0 x64 as was suggested in prior posts. I still get the same error.

I rolled back to 0.2.4.1005 and the problems went away. I will be staying on this until we can get this issue worked out or until I can get a later version.

Thanks for all the great work!

@spanky, try reinstalling megui, and the .net framework for good measure. It's as stable as a rock here.

Maybe. I've reinstalled megui 2 times already. Maybe I'll reinstall then .NET framework. I've actually got 1.1 and 2.0 on the one machine. There's nothing wrong with that is there ?

Another problem was that the xvid encodings seemed to encode ok, but they turn out kinda blurry and all messed up colours.
Here's a screenshot of what they look like when played in VLC
http://img145.imageshack.us/img145/3317/vlcsnap439668aw2.png
In MPC it's pretty much the same, except the green is grey

I got no idea what's goin on. I also encode to xvid with GK and that's still working perfectly. So I don't think there's anything wrong with any filter or xvid encoder/decoder. The problem is somewhere in my megui xvid profiles or those cqm files i think.
Also, x264 is working perfect also in megui

Sounds like whoever is compiling it has forgotten the /platform:x86 switch. If you really want to use the latest version you'll need a utility called corflags.exe to manually mark MeGUI as a 32-bit runtime.
