Hi Karl,
I think you forgot one little thing: one may replace also the Real Video codec of Real Player 10 with the one from the Elysian package in order to get the HFE enabled version. Also I'd recommend getting the fixed DVD2AVI from Donald Graft's site (neuron2.net) and replace the mpeg2dec3.dll with the fixed one by Donald (no more lost frames). And also I think easiest method to get all the VB6 files is just to install AutoRV9 in parallel. They don't hurt each other and the installer registers all those files you mentioned.
Thanks for your continuing support.
Cheers,
tiki4

tiki4: Thanks, I left out the HFE decoder (to simplify a little :p), but it is recommended, you are right. I did not know about those DVD2AVI and mpeg2dec3 fixes, so I tried to get them but it seems Donald Graft has had his neuron2.net account suspended...

hi,
thank u karl for this summarize of all step needed to use the autorv10 beta :)
autorv10 was not in the download section on www.video-tools.com because it was still in beta version (but u can find it in the beta section in the forum of my siteweb but u must first register on the forum). for the vb6 runtime u can find a pack with all .ocx file needed in the "other" download section.
i will try to post a new version this weekend with a lot of improvement and all the dll needed.
Ps: i will also update all the avisynth filers.

The RealVideo sticky points to the RV10 Elysian thread (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?s=&threadid=71022).

You can get them from the download section of doom9.org :)

Hi,
yesterday I tested the beta2 and began to encode a movie (PeterPan 73minutes) with the setting of the rv10-thread. After 14 hours it had only made the first pass and 10 minutes of the second pass!
So I think that it would be very practicle if we could do the two passes separetley! Then I could let it work only during the nights!

* why not setting producer to IDLE so it doesn't botter other process during the day?
* why not upgrading your hardware so you could encode in 4h? :D

hi,
generaly when u have the error : "Failed to Set Property: Key rcHighBitrateReduce Value 0 " it's because u have the wrong erv4.dll file , are u sure u have updated it ? i think yes because u know how to use rv10 :)
i have found this on google but apparently the url have changed on the helix bug report list.
http://lists.helixcommunity.org/pipermail/helix-producer-issues/2003-December/001941.html
sorry i have no idear why u have this crash.

I had the same crash with my own soft (SDK-based). A bug report will be submited as soon as I can log into HC :) Thanks for your time :D

AutoRV10 does not use framerate, so it's okay to have a Producer that does not have the framerate bugfix. However, there appears to be a problem with the filesize as well.
1) It looks like an 4GB overflow problem in the filesize calculation somewhere, either in AutoRV10, the audience XML reader, or the codec's rate control itself.
2) Even if 1) had worked, the resulting file would not have been playable, since the RM fileformat has a 4 GB filesize limitation.
Are there any filesize limitations with Matroska?
EDIT: also, it turns out rmeditor has a 2GB filesize limit, since it's based on an older codebase than Producer and RealPlayer.

hi...
is this a bug - when under subtitles you press "advanced" (but you didnt opened srt file) autorv10 crashes...
also if i use audio within video.avs i suppose producer will recognize audio, but what about video bitrate settings in autorv... i guess they are not reduced to store audio and hit target size?

thanks for the bug report :) i will fix this problem in the subtitle panel.

hi,
i am not sure if it's a good idear to release this version because i still add a lot of features, and i have made a quick build just to ensure that autorv10 was not dead :)
i have clean / re-write a part of the code , and i have only few free time (i am still a student :) ) so there is some feature temporaly removed/disable in this alpha version but all will be fine in the next stable version :)

Great new appearance! and the Advanced settings for the Codec look very promising. Presets to auto-scale the curve for RC, and automatic calculation of inloopCutoffQuant, both from the .pass file! I am happy to see contributions to the new rate control settings that improve RealVideo quality further, that was part of the reason so many parameters were made available to adjust, as well as using the same .pass file format as XviD.

at the end of the second pass it display avg PSNR by reading the rv9log.txt file perhaps autorv10 doesn't have found this file in your folder. normaly your encoding .rmvb file should be in the directory.
i will add a check if the rv9log.txt file exist before trying to open it this bug should be fixed in the next version.
thanks for the bug report :)

i think you should first check does PSNR values exist :) - i disabled calculating psnr (set it to false in audience file)...
also i was using "light" preset and target size of 10 mb - resulting file is 5,7 mb - is this normal?
another thing is that autorv10 window size is not full (exit btn is a little bit out of window) and i cant resize window to get exit button showed at its whole size... although it seems you r working on it (resize arrows are there)...

here are my result on the *experimental* function (autocalc high and low %).
i have only tested on 2 sort sample (15 Mb and 30 Mb for the output size). of course rate control on short sample are not revelant but i have no time to made long tests, so if u want to made more tests feel free :) i will try to made some SSIMQ tests if i found time.

if u have some strange result (undersized or oversized finalfile).
think to post if u have used presets and post the temp_PSNR_log file.

hi
noticed this:
1) set all settings
2) add job -> edit avs -> bicubicresize....
3) cancel
4) change bicubic under video to lanczos
5) add job -> edit avs -> bicubicresize ?!
i didnt wanted to edit script so i deleted that script (not exiting autorv) -> add job -> autorv crashes...
autorv should collect settings from program when add job is pressed, not read avs
also whats the real use of "limiter" filter - compressibility or correcting output ?
Dark-Cracker
23rd April 2004, 02:10
hi,
i am rewritting the function who generate files (.avs for exemple) so for the moment if u try to change a filter after a preview (who generate the file) all other modification (for exemple changing resize filter) will no be taken. wait the next release the time i rewritte the functions.
here is the description of the limiter function :
-----
The standard known as CCIR-601 defines the range of pixel values considered legal for presenting on a TV. These ranges are 16-235 for the luma component and 16-240 for the chroma component.
Pixels outside this range are known to cause problems with some TV sets, and thus it is best to remove them before encoding if that is your intended display device. By default this filter clips (or "clamps") pixels under 16 to 16 and over 235 (or 240) to 235 (or 240).

Hello,
Just test the alphafix but on a PC without sound card. So it doesn't work. How could I desactivate this check ?
the b2 works without sound card.
AutoRV10 will become my favorite GUI (before I used X2Real).
Dark-Cracker
5th May 2004, 10:31
hi,
in fact i have add a check on the soundcard because producer use directsoundoutput to encode the audio stream, and if u don't have a sound card it will show u an error.
perhaps this problem with producer have been fixed ?
i will made u a new version with just a warning msgbox and u will have the possibility to use autorv10.
PS : test with the .exe in the beta3 (not the alpha fix who have this limitation). and try to encode a sample with video+audio and if u can made an encode i will remove this limitation.
PS : if u have an error think to paste the producer.log file (it's copied in the xxx_LogFile.txt file).

hello dark-cracker,
first thanks for that AWESOME tool ! Its just great !!! My #1.
second: if i compare encoding speed with (pretty much) all filters on,
rv10 is sooooo much faster than rv9. (even more than 30% as karl said)
so are all the filters really included in the encoding process in this alpha ?

i am updating the avisynth filter part (ready in next release i think).
in the new filters in the next version the filters used will be :
- remove of dtc/cnr2/nipsmooth/teamporalcleaner
- add of : dup/bifrost/ivtc2/alignfield/smartDecimate
and the possibility to made a dynamic cleaning (depend of the motion of the film) using fluxsmooth and convolution3D.
i will try to release a new version this week.
i have soon finish the dvdripping panel (using DVDdecrypter+DVD2AVI), and i work actually on the subtitle panel :)
stay tuned :)

@DC,
Thank you for your time :)
Btw, is that possible to disable the EHQ mode ?
(I prefer to do simple encode, no EHQ).
Thank you.
Some minor suggestions on the Avisynth part:
1. It would be nice to replace the old DVD2AVI/MPEG2dec3 combo with DVD2AVI Donald Graft version.
2. Decomb / VSFilter update.
3. BeSweet / BeSweet.dll could be updated to current builds.
Also I'd have a suggestion about the audio transcoding part:
When transcoding 2x AC3 to 5.1 Cook (or DTS + AC3 to 5.1 Cook), all temporal WAV files do not get deleted. This eats up a lot of hard disk space. I think the files are no longer needed when the final .rm file has been encoded, so they could get deleted to make room for the next audio files and then for the video part.
Nevertheless, I like the new version and I'm really looking forward for integrated OCR (?).

Any chance of allowing us to specify lower bitrates and mono sound?
I've found that I tend to notice lower quality sound a lot less than video (although I might be a bit biased, seeing as I'm slightly hard-of-hearing =) ). With AutoRV9/10, I basically ripped and encoded the sound separately (MP4), and then muxed it with MKVtoolnix. But it would be great if I could encode the sound using Real Codecs inside of RV10 at, say, 40 kbps and mono.
Thanks,
Victor

hi,
@ookzDVD
for the moment i have disable the possibility to save your previous settings so i will try to enable it in next version so if u want to encode without EHQ once u will set the combo on 60 it will save it as default for the next time u will run autorv10 it will have the combo on 60. i hope it's what u want :)
@tiki4
yep no problem the avisynth filters/and besweet will be updated just let me the time to work on it :)
yes i must improve the audio part when u made multi audio stream.
for the OCR in fact i have add the detection of subtitles in the .ifo file , and i have soon finish the possibility to made a preview of the vobsubfile and for OCR in fact it will use latest Subrip version.
@victorhooi
hum i will perhaps add some low bitrate support but i really hope realnetwork will add more bitrate for the HE-AAC , but i will try to see what i can do :)

could you include these in the audio selections

plus

Thanks for replying =).
Before, I used the Nero AAC plugin to encode a mono file at a really low bitrate (around 20 - 30 kbps, sorry, can't remember exact figure, but I believe the plugin dialogue has a slider to set bitrate anyway). I haven't tried Realaudio codecs, but I think any of the following would work :
20 Kbps Music - RealAudio cook 3 22.05 kHz RealPlayer G2
20 Kbps Music High Response - RealAudio cook 15 44.1 kHz RealPlayer G2
32 Kbps Music - RealAudio cook 4 44.1 kHz RealPlayer G2
32 Kbps Music High Response - RealAudio cook 16 44.1 kHz RealPlayer G2
I'm not sure which would be best, though. The movie is fairly high on dialogue, so perhaps a voice codec would be better. Advice?
16 Kbps Voice - RealAudio sipr 3 16 kHz RealPlayer 5
32 Kbps Voice - RealAudio cook 7 22.05 kHz RealPlayer G2
Thanks,
Victor

hi,
i have release the new beta 4 :
- panel ripping (using dvddecrypter).
- possibility to extract chapters.
- possibility to extract raw subtitles.
- add chapters in rmvb header.
- grab chapter name on the internet.
- updated besweet / mpeg2dec3.dll / dvd2avi rc7.
- support new format of .d2v file.
- updating the menu icones.
- fixed all the bug reported.
URL :
-----
http://dark.pluridis.org/~darkangel/AutoRV10_v1.0_b4.zip
HOW to use chapters :
---------------------
- if u have not extract your chapters simply select your .ifo file (copied on your hard disk when u have backup your .vob files) in the autorv10 subtitle panel, select your movie chain, and click on "extract" button (it use the chapter OGG format to save them).
- if u have already extracted your chapters select it in the chapter textbox (it support microdvd, svcd , bsplayer , dvdmaestro, ogg, vcd easy, matroska chapter format).
- u can change the name by clicking on the "change name" button, u can made an internet search to find the chapters name (only in english) or u can click on the first chapter and directely type the name.
once it's made u can start the encode and if u have select Directshow mode to play the .rmvb file u will see them.
it's also work on all the player using directshow (mplayer2, bsplayer ....)

Aargh! Why does it need avisynth 2.5.5? Just yesterday I finally installed 2.5.4 and now I have to install some alpha version? Is it even safe?
And it says 'you need at least 2.5.5' so is there some even more newer versions somewhere since I couldn't find them in official avisynth page?
Ok. There some more bugs. I can't resize the program window and I really dont know what should read on the right-bottom button?

in fact u need the avisynth version 2.5.5 because there is a writefile function who have been added and without this version u can't use the analyze video function. even if v2.5.5 is still in beta stage, it's very stable.
u can download the latest version here : http://prdownloads.sourceforge.net/avisynth2/AviSynth_200304.exe?download
in fact it's still a beta version and the button u can't see it's not working :) it was the exit button i will arrange the buttons, label ... once i will finish to implement all the new function.
Ps : don't click on the "command1" button i use it to debug some function and i have forget to hide it :) .
sorry i really made some crap beta release :)
Bye.

If I use my own avs as a source file and I use bilinearresize there, does your program use them at all cause Autorv10 makes it's own avs-files and there is used bicubicresize? I wonder if it skips all the other filters in my avs-script also?

hi, one suggestion for anamorphic encoding...
in job file you're setting display size - not ar -> so you can encode at any res you want -> it would be nice if we can set this custom res
why? i find that encoding at 16:9 stretches picture too much (i can see this when playing file) so i always set a little bit higher res manually in avs script -> this option would help me and maybe some others...
thanks...

Well, I have made two excellent encoding now with this latest build. Both filesizes were very accurate 233mb, but unfortunately I couldn't manage to do 2 encodings during the night. First one, was ok, but the second file is missing?
It made the .task, .log, and .rpjf files to the second file also, but no video.

I think that all the frames are send through the frameserver twice. Firsts framserver processes the frames according to your avs script, and handels those frames to the second frameserver running the script from AutoRV10.
Have a look at the resize command in the avs of AutoRV10. Does it actually resize?
If you fear that some of the settings in that avs script will decrease your picture quality and unnecessarily increase encoding time, just delete them. I usually edit the files between adding the job and actually running it.
