Hi again!

Just wanted to know if AutoMKV also normalises the audio stream just like AutoGK, cos i think its a really good feature, as the sound of some dvds is quite low or unconstant.

thanks!

Just a question , where can I find the manual of automkv ? :( nope... not now.. i must write it... sorry

6of9... my preferred...but in next updated i have greater improved the "auto matrix" selection for xvid (you can use it already, just select auto on matrix)

@Greeneemer

120 dpi... not easy i must look around ...

Second: I would like the option to add srt subtitles instead of the bitmap based subtitles from the disc. Its not much of a problem to add them later, but it would be neat if they could be imported directly into AutoMKV

i have some idea :)

Third: I would like to see a small text describing each of the Profiles. Especially the x264 profiles arent exactly self-explainatory to me. Like, what is AE, CE and HQ? I guess that HQ means High Quality, but is that the quality of my input or how i want my output? (based on how much time i want to spend)

in next full pack i will rework most of profiles.
AE: Anime Encoding
CE: Common Encoding
HQ: high quality and slow encoding
is what you want as output...

Just wanted to know if AutoMKV also normalises the audio stream just like AutoGK, cos i think its a really good feature, as the sound of some dvds is quite low or unconstant.

already present, even more.. in advanced audio is possible to disable it!

Thanx for your reply!

2 more question: when I click on the '!!!' button (which contains the hidden audio options), the Normalize check box is always checked. I thought that AC3 audio can't be normalized, but I'm not so sure anymore... :) So does it normalize the audio stream when I choose AC3 audio output (in other words, when I choose original audio)?

two answer: yes, bitrate is used for all codecs, xvid or x264 or wmv, just check use specified bitrate. Second... is probably that with 2000 bitrate you have saturate (saturated: aka no more quality possible due to other constraints) so the movie cannot growth more...

The 2nd question: so that means, when I enter a specific bitrate, and XviD is checked, AutoMKV will try to use that unless it's already too high so it cannot get more quality? But why was the quality of the movie lower then a normal 2 CD rip of the same film? Actually when I choose a custom matrix, will AutoMKV use different bitrates to match an interval which is best with that custom matrix? For example, if I choose SharkTooth's UHS matrix which is best used when bitrate is over 3000 kbps, will AutoMKV try to give that bitrate? Or in that case is it better to check the Specify bitrate option and manually enter 3000?

Sorry if I sound stupid :lol:

@buzzqw: It seems that in 072b an older bug reappeared. Specifically, I'm queing multiple files. The shutdown flag is enabled for all of them. Two bugs: only the first file in the queue is processed. And when it is finished, instead of shutting down, the system simply logs off

I'm unable to finish encoding with "insane" profile, the file "movie.mp4" is unredeable and is unmuxable.

@papsi

the audio is normalized only when trascoding from ac3 (or other source) to NOT AC3. Isn't possibly to adjust volume if you copy original.

The 2nd question: so that means, when I enter a specific bitrate, and XviD is checked, AutoMKV will try to use that unless it's already too high so it cannot get more quality?
yes, but isn't automkv that cap this is codec. it's called SATURATION

But why was the quality of the movie lower then a normal 2 CD rip of the same film?
a two pass encoding is always better then one pass (at similar average bitrate)

Actually when I choose a custom matrix, will AutoMKV use different bitrates to match an interval which is best with that custom matrix?
no, automkv will simply apply this matrix, whatever could be the bitrate computed

Or in that case is it better to check the Specify bitrate option and manually enter 3000?
better to leave media size 1/2 dvd (or bitrate 3000) and go to sleep... next morning you will have a beautiful movie! :)

Sorry if I sound stupid :lol:
isn't stupid questions, just search in forum there is a loot to learn ! :) :thanks:

@cosmos
should be fixed in next release

@Unrealbr

ADDED: In Advanced settings two HVS_AQ string (take from http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=114811 )
ADDED: Sanity ceck before deleting \temp direcory. if this is a root directory isn't deleted. NOTE: IT IS IMPOSSIBLE THAT AUTOMKV WILL WORK ON A ROOT DIRECTORY SINCE IT CREATES THE \TEMP DIRECTORY!!! (suggestion by mael)
ADDED: Possibility to specify quality. This value overrides encoding mode, all encoding will be done in 1 pass (or 1 pass for autoresize + 1 pass for encoding). AutoMKV will take all values from selected profile's but will do a CQ encoding. Not saved in queue mode. (suggestion by dlflannery). NOTE THE CURVE OF QUANT IS TO TUNE. FEEL FREE TO SUGGESTS
ADDED: Possibility to load external Subtitle file.
FIXED: If <BframePredictionMode> if 0 then --direct none is applyed to x264 command line (suggestion by DDogg) (and fyi 1=--direct spatial , 2=--direct temporal , 3=--direct auto)
FIXED: Some tuning to Auto Matrix choice
FIXED: Sometimes AviMux_GUI not use values written in muxavi but old setting in config.ini.amg file. Now i will change this file every time before muxing. (thanks to DDogg and
FIXED: Switching from queue to standard mode will break the shutdown fuction (thanks to cosmos)
FIXED: If subtitles weren't correctly extract the muxing will not break but will mux without subtitles (thanks to papsi)

and will work on x264 profiles, probably renaming it and tuning, and i hope :fingercrossed: a manual

the problem is that x264 string is too long for dos environment (over 530 character)

please move the input folder to a short path like c:\temp\hmcaste.vob

please try , thanks :)

Good! A few freinds of mine have come to rely upon this little app for their encoding needs. The others I'm introducing to it now are less educated in these matters and would definitely need a few of the fixes mentioned in your list.

Keep up the good work! People do appreciate it.

Buzz, I gotta teach you how to hint better like, "Damn, guys, I am just busting my backside for months, everyday, making AutoMKV solid and dependable for you ... can't a few of you help work on a freaking manual ???" :)

Actually, I wish I understood the Wiki thing as that would be a good place to do something where different folks could add on and expand.

Is a Wikimaster out there ... anybody?

Sorry pals but this weekend i preferred coding some fuctions like Btw, that brings up a request for future consideration. Since you are saving the AutoMKV settings already, it would be helpful to be able to load them by name. and fixing long path name errors (or i hope so :) ) , and a near like system status (that will inform you what automkv is doing, suggest help... ... and btw i need tips to add the fuction)

no manual. but i ufficially added it to todo list :)

I tried a conversion to my usual Zune format (320 width, bitrate = 500 kbps) but using the 1_Pass_Quality_Quick profile (WME9 codec). I noticed the bitrate option was not used on the WME script command line. The video came out at 395 kbps, so the total bitrate was 395+128 = 523 kbps.

I thought the bitrate was for video only and should be passed to the encoder (?).

buzzqw
4th February 2007, 18:27
@dlflannery
very very quick answer: you had selecte a QUALITY profiles, not a BITRATE profiles !

In quality mode i pass "-v_quality 90" (as example) not the bitrate ! :)

@Henrikx
ok, i think i have understud, the user DON'T HAVE Nero AAC Encoder and so automkv will switch to OGG encoder. The question for audio failing is another... i could suppose a problem of bitrate (0.75 quality for ogg). In next version i will use CCT AAC (better compatibility) and correct audio bitrate.

Please tell you friend to not use nero if it haven't installed...

I'm trying to make 1400mb xvid rips with AC3 audio, but every rip I make using AutoMKV and xvid_extra_slow encoding results in a file of ~1.1gb

this is because of the codec saturation, right? Is there a way to increase the quality a bit so I can hit 1400mb?

Two Questions

1.AutoMKV contains a file of Fab.
Fab/DVD Decrypter etc. is forbidden in Germany
So we cannot link more on your program and not more speak about it, in German doom9 Forum !
Is there perhaps a solution?

2.After installing NeroAACEnc.exe into the besweet folder,the same mistake.

this isn't a good thing, neither for Germany or AutoMKV. :angry:

seems that something gone bad with audio delay fix
... is movie t01...xxx.ac3 present ?
is fixed1.ac3 present ? (i suppose not...)

also check in advanced setting to disable delay cut

last question is dvd preprocessed in someway ? this is important to know since i demux only the audio track requested and if in ifo the audio is the second track BUT , due to preprocessing, the audio is now first, i cannot demux anything ! (hope to be understud)

A minor bug in 072b: entering a title in the advanced settings of audio, at "Muxing Options"/"Title" does not make the title appear. Instead the "produced by automkv..." appears.

And a couple of suggestions:
1) If the language in advanced settings is "xxx" ("eng" for example), then:
* default the video stream in mkvtoolnix to have a "xxx" language
* default the audio stream in Audio Track 1 and Audio Track 2 to be the same "xxx" language

This way, when I preselect "eng" and go to the advanced settings of "audio track 1", "eng" is already selected instead of "und". ;)

in this ifo there is only one audio track, a german audio, and it is the first, so when automkv start dgindex it demux the first audio, but is missing... (i need a fragment of vob... but i suppose is a bug this vob..., user can demux manually with dgindex)

Also, with autogk is ok ?

Selecting all audio tracks i start dgindex in "demux all tracks" mode, and so is ok

I am trying this now with "The Gladiator" and am encoding it on the xvid_extra_slow preset

it decided to make the resolution 416x192 with a bitrate of 601kbps, which works out to be about 820mb, which is a bit low since I set it for 1400mb

with the ac3 audio it'd probably be about 1.1ish gb, which is the same as whats happened with all the other movies Ive tried

Here's the first part of the log for an encoding of "Mystic River." I set it for original audio, SAP, and sharktooth LR. (the log was too long to post at once)

I deleted the log for it with Xvid_extra_slow and "auto" for the matrix, and am running it now.

This encoding spat out a file that was 1.18gb in size, and plays the video too fast, so the video stops ~20 minutes early. The audio plays fine, though.

@Unrealbr

already done !

@dyne

This encoding spat out a file that was 1.18gb in size, and plays the video too fast, so the video stops ~20 minutes early.

i need the log, please ! (i suppose FILM type was detected..., but please need the log)

@dyne

THANKS ! got the error for 20 minutes off!

also you got saturated
Movie Width suggested: 800 value based on sample size (111.11% of original width)

in next update the AUTO matrix will be the default value (and should fix this encoding !!!)

@Unrealbr
yes, next update !

thank you for the utlitiy :)

How do people make 2 CD (1400mb) rips with out saturating it?

buzzqw
8th February 2007, 14:36
not every movies goes saturated with 2 cd (try save private ryan or gladiator..) , what to do ? auto matrix (or high rate matrix like didee 6of9), no filtering, high quality resize like lanczosresize

in this way you don't saturated at all (is enough the matrix...)

Update ! TWO New full package !

www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV074.rar -> full as usuall (but without NeroAACEnc.exe)
www.64k.it/andres/data/a/AutoMKV074_NO_RIPPER.rar -> without DvdFabDecrypter AND NeroAACEnc.exe)

0.74 Full Package 09/02/2007
ADDED: On main window a status line. Here i reported automkv works, tips, and more. It's very incomplete, please feel obligated to suggest more display (suggestion by mael)
ADDED: In advanced setting possibility to save and load customizable settings (suggestion by DDogg)
ADDED: BicubicResize with default value, FastBilinearResize, Spline36Resize http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=112594
FIXED: If Nero AAC isn't present Automkv will now switch to CCT AAC, for better compatibility pourpose, also the bitrate will be corrected
FIXED: If selected CCT AAC audio encoder the audio was encoded two times
FIXED: Long path. When encoding string is over 530 characters dos cannot understand the command line. Now i will launch directly the exe with the parameters, this should fix the problem (thanks to karasu)
(thanks to DDogg)
FIXED: Switching from queue to standard mode will break the shutdown fuction (thanks to cosmos)
FIXED: If subtitles weren't correctly extract the muxing will not break but will mux without subtitles (thanks to papsi)
FIXED: AutoMKV is now working on 120 DPI monitor (or i hope so)
FIXED: Now when selecting on Advanced audio setting ABR or CBR for Lame, the bitrate displayed is correct
FIXED: No pop-up after selecting media file (not on ifo). Now bbsummary starts hidden
FIXED: Using CCT AAC encoder AutoMKV will switch to --lc profile if bitrate is over 128
FIXED: Added a sanity check that even on ifo input if dgindex don't demux selected audio tracks it will restart in demux all tracks mode (thanks to Schotenhüter)
FIXED: When using XviD and movie is FILM/Decimating, AutoMKV will pass correct framerate to xvid_encraw (thanks to dyne)
FIXED: If user select the deinteralcer BUT not the Order, AutoMKV will use Hybrid Order.
UPDATE: CCT AAC audio encoder
UPDATE: DgIndex to 1.4.9 beta 13

Regarding the problems I had with DVD-to-WMV (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=947879#post947879), I have not seen a solution (did I miss it?). Is it just a problem with WME and nothing can be done? (This means the user has to analyze the video before putting it into AutoMKV in order to choose the interlace mode -- not "Auto".)

Thanks!

i can try to pass framerate to wmvencoder... but don't know if will be enough (but i hope so!)

wow that was fast. Just a little quibble, in your new status bar there is a typo "star ripping", also "Let's Encoding" sounds funny, might I suggest "Let's Encode!" or "Encoding Started". also it would be nice if the status bar indicated whether it was on the fist or second pass (I don't know if it does that, I'm still on the first pass.)
Keep up the excelent work! AutoMKV just keeps getting better and better.
