questions about PS3 as hardware player

ok, my questions are:

1) what is the maximum size of files stored on the ps3 hdd ?

2) which filesystem is used internally? i read external drives must have fat32

3) what is the maximum size of a hdd installed in the ps3 ?

thanx for answering my questions

1).. don't know.. but i copied files over 4gb in size
2) afaik ext3, external must be fat32
3) not a problem, just big as you want (i use a 160gb, but some friends had installed HD near 500gb)

yes, for sure, but the hypervisor would not let linux using all cell cpus, and.. you have only 256mb ram avaiable... (aka... use xfce/fluxbox not gnome/kde)

from linux you cannot access xmb and from xmb you cannot access linux partition... but you can access external harddrives

no sorry even 720p could stutter with high bitrate (but normal SD resolution is ok)

Biggest file I've copied had 8GB and it was .m2t from HDV camera. Played flawlessy all the way through.

Has to be something different inside than fat32, 8GB file copied fine. For external fat32 is true.

I've got 320GB and it works perfectly.

And for divx/ xvid with subtitles search the forum for AviAddXsubs. Works excellent and is very easy to use. It muxes .avi with .srt subtitles to .divx container playable on ps3.

[EDIT]
Found it: AviAddXsubs
