Zeul, I have a question about using the "Update_Menu_ifo" dos batch file
I use DIFU 1.4.7.0 followed by NuMenu and then ScenAid 1.7.0.2.
DIFU calls NuMenu and automatically continues after NuMenu completes. The "new menu files" are stored in the VIDEO_TS folder. After this completes, I run Scenaid with Muxman. After Scenaid completes the "auto update ifo's", do I still need to run the "Update_Menu_Ifo" dos batch file created from NuMenu?
Also, if I used the Scenarist method and then Batchupdateifo (using either the reverse or normal batchupdateifo method), would I still need to run this. I'm wondering if I don't use the VIDEO_TS folder as my destination but the Muxman or Scenarist "0" folders if this will cause a problem with "Update_Menu_Ifo" not updating these new files properly or if I need to even use this when the "other" (Scenaid or Batchupdateifo) updates have completed. I hope you understand what I'm trying to ask.
Thanks
Zeul

@pike007
You do not need to run the update_menu.bat file. This is only to be used if full compile was not set in scenarist when numenu was running.
When Scenaid has completed you run batchifoupdate as normal on the main VIDEO_TS folder, and the scenaid/0 folder (use can either normal or reverse)
If using muxman then no further intervention is needed. Scenaid will update the ifos correctly and move all of the non-processed files (which will include any unprocessed VTS's and ALL the menu files) from the VIDEO_TS folder into the muxman/video_ts folder.

On my King Arthur DVD, I've noticed that I can't "delete" 2 FBI warning screens with NuMenu as they are not "seen" by NuMenu. I'm wondering if there may be support in the future for the following removal:
Menu attributes:

(I know this is not directly a "menu" type of problem, but it seems to fall under a Numenu type of job ;) )The FBI warnings are located in this VTS (VTS_02) Title 2, pgc_2, vobid 1 and 2. The 3rd vobid is just a black frame. I thought about just deleting playback of Vobid 1,2,3,4 but I would like 4 to play. If this type of question has been asked before I apologise.
Numenu really does a great job Zeul!

As this is in the Title domain, NuMenu won't do anything about it. My only suggestion is to delete playback of these cells with pgcedit, or which is probably easier - they are all stills so they will have a cellpause > 0. Set the cell pause to = 0 then the stills will show and then disappear immediately.

Error Source: Project1
Error Line: 107
Call Stack:

This line is searching for a m2v file in the new_m2v folder and was not found. So, either a file was not encoded or not copied correctly. shoot me the log file.

vobs 21 & 22 were not encoded , yet they exist in the ecl file. If you manually load in the ecl are 21 & 22 shown?
Also try reducing the #of assets per ecl ( in the encoder settings)
wfn1
7th August 2005, 19:58
Zeul,
If I load the .ecl both 21 and 22 are in there (in .avs'es). I'll try the # of assets reduction trick in a moment and post my results.
wfn1

Zeul

see your pm
Do these last 2 assets actually get encoded? do they exist in the frameserving folder?
wfn1
8th August 2005, 06:09
Zeul,
PM replied.
The frameserving folder contains .d2v, .avs and .log files for vobs # 21 and 22. However, the .vaf file for vob 21 is missing and expectedly 21.m2v is missing from the \NEW_M2V\ folder.
Zeul
8th August 2005, 08:12
@wfn1
which suggests that even though vob#21 gets loaded up via the ecl, it still doesn't get encoded.
Can you try it with quenc / procoder / earlier build of cce and see how that performs. If they work, then there is a problem with cce.
wfn1
8th August 2005, 08:48
Zeul,
Just finished running it with cce 2.66.01.07 - same error. I'm falling asleep so I'll have to try procoder tomorrow.
Zeul
8th August 2005, 18:01
If you watch cce encode (just click the cce icon in the system tray to restore it), does it encode #21 ?
wfn1
8th August 2005, 19:09
Zeul,
Ok, the plot thickens. With .20 using CCE 2.66.01.07 it doesn't even get to 21 or 22. Even 20 doesn't get completely encoded. CCE builds the .vaf for 20 and does 3 passes out of the preset 6 and then the CCE window disappears and I get my error. That's with 25 assets per .ecl, I'm going to try it with a smaller # and see if it does the same thing.

Just a thought - have you checked your free space?
wfn1
8th August 2005, 19:31
Zeul,
When I do 15 assets per .ecl the vobs 20 and 21 are the last ones to be encoded. The encoder dies on vob 20 on the 3rd pass just as I described in my previous message. Then it loads the 2nd .ecl with the remaining vob 22 and encodes that. Do you need me to assemble some files for analysis?
Edit: Yes, I have 65GB free on the drive.
Zeul
8th August 2005, 20:08
very bizarre.
Open the ecl in a text editor and delete everything except 20 & 21. Load the ecl and see what happens. I'm going to review the ecl file again
Zeul
8th August 2005, 20:19
I have just thought , also, open vob #20 (as that seems to be the problem) in mediaplayer and let it run. Are there any problems? It does suggest that vob#20 has something about it that is a problem, although for the life of me i haven't got a clue
btw the ecl for vob#20 & 21 is identical to vob#19 and the log & d2v file correspond also.

8th August 2005, 20:23
my turn my turn :)
this was suggest by another user with another problem but all was an issue w/ CCE
Try replacing in your avs files AddAudio() and the addin w/ KillAudio()
this seems to resolve many issues w/ cce erroring out and or skipping files
I believe you can replace it in the avs editor of Numenu as it re-creates the avs files each time
wfn1
8th August 2005, 22:33
**** EDIT: Substituting KillAudio() for AddAudio() in AVSEditor does not change anything.
Zeul,
Removed everything from .ecl except vobs 20 and 21, the encoding completes without a hitch. Checked the resulting .mpv's in MPC they're completely fine from a visual standpoint.
D3s7,
I'll try your suggestion next and post the results.
Zeul
8th August 2005, 22:40
Well i would say this definately points to a cce problem somewhere. You can always try setting the #of assets per ecl to = 1. This will create an ecl for each vob.

**** UPDATE: figured this error out. for some reason during one of my sessions nm asked me if i wanted to process scripts separately and that switched me to muxman .14
I completely forgot about it till I started to wander thru the menus looking for something suspicious. Switched back to .15 and everything worked. Thanks for your help.

Zeul,
Set the number of assets to 1 and it went all the way and muxed the menus. However it still errors out later on with this:
Procedure Name: NewCorrectProgress
Module Name: GlobalFunctions
Error Number: 380
Error Description: Invalid property value
Error Source: ProgCtrl
Error Line: 8
Call Stack:
NewCorrectProgress --> GlobalFunctions
CopyRemainingFiles --> ReplacementFile
Zeul
9th August 2005, 08:29
I have corrected the error trap for that. That shouldn't have been allowed to happen.
Changing the scripting option for muxman has no bearing on the encoding - it justs outputs a different script file.
I suspect setting the #assets per ecl to 1 was the answer.

new build available see here http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=610301#post610301
NB some install changes
For new users a full install is needed: http://www.numenu4u.com/NuMenu4uFull.exe
For Updates only the UpdateBuild is needed: http://www.numenu4u.com/NuMenu4uUpdate.exe

Updated the build to fix a stupid error with pulldown.
NB there is a bug in HC encoder 0.15A at the moment , that causes an immediate crash. Do not use until hank315 corrects.

Just wondering: Is anyone using NuMenu4u with ProCoder 1.5? Seems that is still outputs a few seconds of black screen at the end of certain segments.
Zeul
13th August 2005, 08:22
I haven't used 1.5 for a long time. The trim() in the avs file will be no different between Procoder versions, so, it is probably a eclpro problem.

I am having trouble using the latest Numenu4u and using it on the movie "The upside of Anger". It fails on the build in Scenarist and it has these error lines:
Error VTS "VTS_3" title does not have any tracks
Error There is no PGC in Domain<VTS_3_T_1>.
VTS 3 is the one with the menu in it. All though I have an idea what the error is saying, I dont really know what's wrong/how to fix it.

Hi Zeul,
NuMenu 2.0.21 with Muxman 0.15i
I've noticed that when I try to strip a button ( eg:french audio) from a menu, (let's say VOB:5 CELL 2 BMP:1) the BMP:1 will advance to BMP:2 and when this happens, I have to select the same button again in order to remove it as it changed from green back to red. On this particular DVD I'm doing I have to keep selecting the same button at least 30 times during the preview playback in order to eliminate it. I never noticed this before with older versions. Is this by design or is it just a problem with the DVD I'm doing?
My DVD is Spiderman, NTSC, R1
jel
19th August 2005, 04:33
doesnt the menu for spiderman have animated buttons?
if that is the case, there really may need to be 30+ bmp's/highlights that need to be altered.
Zeul
19th August 2005, 11:32
Spiderman R1 is the hardest menu to reproduce that we have found so far. Jel is correct it has animated buttons, and in some cells there are over 200 bmp's. Each bmp will have to have the button manually removed. I will look to see if it possible to try and automate the button stripping for the buttons within the same cell.

I have a problem with a DVD where the menu is located in the VTS_01_1.VOB, when I try to process it with NuMenu4u, in the Menu Selection screen the VOB containing the menu is not detected, because NuMenu4u search the menu in the VTS_01_0.VOB.
VIDEO_TS folder files:
VIDEO_TS.BUP 14.336
VTS_01_0.BUP 34.816
VTS_02_0.BUP 79.872
VIDEO_TS.IFO 14.336
VTS_01_0.IFO 34.816
VTS_02_0.IFO 79.872
VTS_01_1.VOB 270.739.456 <- Menu
VTS_02_1.VOB 1.073.604.608 <- Main movie
VTS_02_2.VOB 1.073.401.856
VTS_02_3.VOB 1.073.440.768
VTS_02_4.VOB 1.073.453.056
VTS_02_5.VOB 308.795.392
NuMenu4u Menu Selection screen:
VIDEO_TS.VOB - N/A
VTS_01_0.VOB - N/A
VTS_02_0.VOB - N/A
A solution for this problem?
Thanks

It's a pretty uncommon situation, but I've seen those before. If you're using the latest scenaid the menu should be processed correctly, since it can do Button over video. AFAIK there's no way to do this with numenu4u.
Zeul
31st August 2005, 21:05
NuMenu only processes either the Video_ts.vob or *_0.vobs. Other menus that reside in the title domain are very rare and when they are, are often games. As flu said, Scenaid should have no trouble dealing with it.

Hi Zeul,
I recently did a menu that was approx 70 megs and chose a bitrate of 2750 (which you recomended in the help file, so I tried it of course) and noticed that after everything I had a new menu of about 90 megs.
Does Numenu currently check to make sure it won't actually create a larger menu?
Also, would it be possible to add an option to actually decrease a menu by a certain percentage (10%, 15%, 20%, 25%) or something?. I noticed that my menus don't always look the same "quality wise" from one DVD to another with the same bitrate and a fixed percentage may help with that.
Thanks,
Zeul

Possibly, i may look into that. For now though, i think NuMenu is about as finished as its going to be.
