Hi !
In the 'Bitrate' Tab (in the 'Total-Size'-Area) it would be nice if one could choose not only CD-Sizes but DVD-Sizes too (4,7 GB; 8,5 GB...). I know it's only a little littleness, but please ;)
Keep up the great work

yes something like that would be nice like you have in auto gk were you can choose say 1/4 or 1/3 of a dvd and with the new dual layers coming out could even impletement that at the same time
but no rush on that feature i think is required anytime in the future when you feel like implementing it into the program if you want to of course
keep up the great work we all appiciate it greatly :D

DVD sizes will be implemented in the next version (> 0.31): respectively 4479 MB (4.7) and 8099 MB (8.5).

would a divx player or xbox read the disc and file/s if it was in that udf??
and if you still at least kept the files split then it would still be okay wouldn't it say for examply you made a 3gig movie file if you split it to 2 1.5gig files then burnt it to the dvd that would work correct??
i havn't got a dvd burner as yet myself but am planing on it very soon

But users will not be able to choose more than 1/3 DVD (1493 MB) for first size, 1/4 DVD (2025 MB) for second. Maybe I could add (like you did in AutoGK) a "2Gb Max" choice ?

I use GK to get my HDTV-Rips (i can receive Euro1080 with my DVB-Card) on DVD. I'm using VirtualDubMod with XviD to shrink, let's say a 2-Hour, 15 GB Music-Concert-Rip (1920*1080) to a 4,7 Gb mkv-File (1280*720) and then burn it using UDF. By the way, i can enter the DVD-Size manually anyway, so this should be no problem.

dunno if its normal or has any solution, anyway i never open avi files with GK, try to use a simple avs file to serve the avi and open the avs.
Something like
avisource ("c:\miclip.avi")
should work.

Hello everyone,
dieu_tout_puissant:
I think well of Xvid codec then, since great changes GK 0.28 to 0.31 alpha it is not the same thing.
I don't the answer of your question because i have noticed too.
( actually i uses GK 0.28 again )
However, SBC play well; that is not the case of Xvid, Divx.
Lenox must know why

0.30 alpha & 0.31 alpha installed. Same problem when saving avs-file.
Please, can somebody tell me why cropping is before deinterlacing ???
I get green lines in bottom of video with this setup.
If I change cropping after deinterlacing green lines disappears.

Hi-
Please, can somebody tell me why cropping is before deinterlacing ???
Maybe len0x and the Glouch are giving you credit for understanding how to crop interlaced material in the YV12 colorspace. You have to crop top and bottom in mod 4 (each crop a multiple of 4). Or do as you are doing and move the crop after the deinterlace. Here's some more information:

I am trying to rip a NTSC DVD, region 1, and in GDIndex I get sometimes (75% from cases) 23,970 FPS and sometimes 29,970. Normally my movie is 29,970. Every time I get 23,970 I have the video/sound desynchronized. Thanx.

Yeah yeah, I know that, but that's not ideal solution. I reported this bug because I was thinking it's strange. It was the same with the 0.28 version and when you unistall the xvid codecs, that works fine (even if you use another decoder for xvid content).

Hello dieu_tout_puissant,
I make your test, everything seems to point you are right.
However, after replacing the last version 1.0.1 by the xvid devapi-3, it works so fine.
Try it, you will see ;)

As for the XviD/avi not opening, I dimly remember reading about the issue, and it being said that no, it didn't work, and that there was no fix for it yet (there might be now, that was a good while ago, like 3 weeks :D )
Since this is the case, perhaps an extra drop-down menu in the cropping section might be helpful. It could restrict the Auto Crop function (as well as manual cropping) to the appropriate mod for the chosen color space.
This is where GK starts turning into autoGK :p Seriously, smart crop all does that already, I never use auto crop, I cant say.
IIRC cropping has always been between IVTC and deinterlacing anyway on all the GK I've had, so I wouldn't say it's anything new.
@andrei, that's a problem for the DVD2AVI forum, not here :)

not sure if these bugs have been reported already but heres my 2 cents -
1. When audio encoding to OGG boost parameter is still used when I specify for it to be kept off
2. Chapter import dialog box and settings remain the same when switching between different movie settings (1,2,3 etc...) Does this mean it is not possible to specify different chapters for each film?
Other than that the new GK has some nice improvements! Good job len0x, I'm looking forward to the final release :)

First at all, i love this version of gknot0.30 alpha, it's really a great work.
So i have made some tests here and found some little problem.
1.) I use robot4rip and gknot 0.30 alpha to make a divx5 with 2 audio streams in a *.ogm
container from a DVD. This 2 audio streams(one english one german) are created with Robot4Rip.
I choose in the DivX Encoding Control Panel for the audio source the german audio stream
and the radio button "Nur muxen"(in the english version maybe "only mux").
But the popup menu for the language comment is grayed out, so i can't choose the german
language comment(i think this popup menu is only for gknot's created audio streams).
I would prefer here a possibility to determine the language from file name of this stream.
Here is the part of gknot's log file, where the german audio stream has the default english comment.
...
Audio 1:
Mode: Just Mux Source File.
SourceFile: H:\DVD\Projects\m\m Track 2 Deutsch DELAY 0ms.ogg
WavFile: H:\DVD\Projects\m\m Track 2 Deutsch DELAY 0ms.wav
Mp3File: H:\DVD\Projects\m\m Track 2 Deutsch DELAY 0ms.mp3
OggFile: H:\DVD\Projects\m\m Track 2 Deutsch DELAY 0ms_1.ogg
OggQuality: 0.200
OggLanguage: English
Azid:
Lame:
Delay: 0
Interval: 1
Preload: 500
Mux: 1
Recalc: 1
DeleteWav: 1
...
VirtualDub.stream[0].SetSource("H:\\DVD\\Projects\\m\\m Track 2 Deutsch DELAY 0ms.ogg",0x00000204);
VirtualDub.stream[0].AddComment(0x00010000,"","English");
...
2.) I have seen same behaviour as BluDChyLD told about chapters:
"Chapter import dialog box and settings remain the same when switching between different movie settings (1,2,3 etc...)" But all my finished jobs have no chapters.
I will try this with version 0.31 again

I have a little problem of achieving the exact file size in GK and ill explain:
i have an home made Vob file which is d2v of course, its running time is 2m13s ... separate mp3 file which i want to mux and its 1606KB,im trying XViD and i want the total file size to be 20MB,if i check the frame overhead i get 19.1MB if i leave it unchecked i get 19.2MB,in the audio1 tab i left it on No Audio.
Why GK can't reach the exact 20MB target i set for him? (or at least 19.9MB - 20.1MB)
Previous version of GK i used to check the frame-overhead and the audio1 tab was set to VBR mp3,and i was able to do it.
Am i missing something?
EDIT:
each time when i use the same options but changing the resolution,i get a different file size.

Very probably you have hybrid source (or FILM with improper flags set). So force film should NOT be checked in DGIndex. Just select 30fps source d2v file and do IVTC (inverse telecine) in field operations of old SaveAVS window (haven't used new one yet). If its FILM then default decimate mode 0 will do, otherwise you might have to use mode 3 of it.
P.S. DO NOT USE tomsmocomp on it :)

@all,
I hv uninstalled old GK and installed the new 29 alpha and 31 alpha.
Iam facing a strange problem!!!!. Hv added few filter like undot and c3d, and in the advacne saveavs window, TRIM option set to "both"( encode saperately), checking preview gives me an error saying unknow function "Undot" which in fact the dll is placed in the avisynth pulgin dir. But if the trim option is set to none, movie or credits, the preview wrks fine with any error.
I tried saving the avs with trim option set to "both" noticed that the plugins are not loaded!!! only the cmds are added to avs, thats where the problem with trim option "both",
with trim option set to "both" the script tab vanishes!!!! is it a expected behaviour ???
Am the only 1 facing this or any1 else hving this problem :(
Using xpsp1.
any help apperciated!!!
-cjaar
Hmm, I seem to be having a problem with 0.31 alpha.
Fresh install of XP, installed 0.29 Rippack then upgraded to 0.31. Loaded DGIndex, created my D2V file, loaded d2v file into GKnot and get the "not a valid d2v project, avi or avs file" error!
Any suggestions? I've read a few fixes in the forum but none of them seem to make any difference (and most of them are over a year old so I suppose not relevant to this current version anyway)

edit : hmm, dunno what I've done but it's working now....

Damn. Robot4Rip is basically the only tool I've found that can queue for DVD Decrypter, which is infinitely useful when ripping several PGC threads. Means I don't have to sit there, wait for the PGC to finish, then click to start a new rip, wait, click, wait, click, ad infinitum. Um, anyone know an alternative or a way to queue within DVD Decrypter? :)

Hi Carraway,
just keep on using robot4rip. Move all robot*.* files to a safe place before installing a new version of gk, move them back afterwards and tell r4r to use Donald Grays tools for mpeg decoding.
Works quite fine for me, and yeah, I'm in love with r4r, too :-)
