Little bug in 64bit version (I didn't check 32b): no files are displayed in the file open window, no matter what is selected in file type drop list, even *.* doesn't work. I need to manually type *.* in the file name box to display files in a folder.

This is a known bug caused by skinning component's open file dialog. You can try betas, it is fixed there.

I've re-uploaded 32bit package.
Thanks. It works.

An other new beta. This one should solve many issues. It has better unicode handling (all temp files now have non-unicode file names etc).
Change log:
-Added: Copying RG tags from lossless source to lossless output
-Added: File length filters when adding files
-Added: ID3v2 tagging to TTagger for better unicode handling
-Added: Option to select between TTagger and Lame for tagging
-Added: Options summary list to main window
-Fixed: Volume change option caused encoding to fail
-Fixed: Open file dialog failed to show any files
-Fixed: Secondary option for embedding artwork didn't work
-Updated: Opusenc to 0.1.7
You can download it from here (https://bitbucket.org/ozok/taudioconverter-audio-converter/downloads) as usual.
This is how it looks at the moment: http://i.imgur.com/vkTuyhV.png (http://i.imgur.com/vkTuyhV.png)

It looks feature rich and has lots of different encoder choices but it won't encode anything! I've tried running as admin with no change on Windows 7 x64.
0.9.0 beta 2370 x64 change log shows 0.9.1
Drag & drop doesn't function but using the add button works on this one whereas it didn't on v0.9.0.1930 x86.

You'll need applesoftwaresupport installed to be able to use qaac. You may try fdkaac, it doesn't need anything to run.

Thanks. I just extracted appleapplicationsupport.msi from an iTunes download, got the few files that were needed from that and put them in the Qaac folder. That seems to be doing the trick.

BTW why does TAC need to "decode" the audio when the source files are standard 44100/16bits WAV files ? (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1625124&page=7)
I noticed that also?

2370 x86:
I am not getting output file names?
The temp file is named 0.wav or 0.m4a, but then when it finalizes the output, it is simply named ".wav" or *.m4a" (no name, extension only).
If I run again, overwrite condition is set to increment, the files are then named "_1.wav" or "_1.m4a".
With TAC 0.9.0, output files are named correctly.
I am not using any folder structure, simply have the output folder set to: C:\OUT.
ozok
24th October 2013, 00:46
Naming is done at the last stop to make sure encoders don't deal with unicode file names. This was added with one of the beta release. It is strange that TAC cannot get file name from source file. Can you post the full path to these files, so I can try it myself? You can send a PM too.
About wav files being decoded again, this should have been changed ages ago, I'll try to give it a higher priorty when I start to work on TAC again.

-Playback speed change option. You can change playback speed of audio files. This will effect the duration of output file and it is applied after trimming.
Looks like only whole numbers are allowed?
So if you were doing PAL to NTSC (if I'm saying that correctly) or vice versa, you couldn't get it "correct".
eac3to has stuff like:
-slowdown convert 25.000 and 24.000 content to 23.976 fps
-speedup convert 23.976 and 24.000 content to 25.000 fps
So presumably you would need 1.04271 (or 104.271%) [or .922154 (92.2154%)] to accomplish the same.
With TAC I would have to choose either 104 or 105%, neither of which will give me the expected time (length).
Looks like SoX should be able to accept whatever is passed to it:

(The naming suffix on the encoded variety is a little funky.)
The only diff between the two "installs" is with settings.ini.

And I can still replicate the failure using the original "install".
It has to be settings.ini, there is nothing else.
It's the 10th line in settings.ini:

I guess this happens because TAC tries to get tags in order to use them in "Custom Folder Tree" but since source file doesn't seem to have any tags, it returns an empty string. It should have used "Full Folder Tree" instead when this process fails, but something is broken there. I'll take a look and report here. Thanks.

Edit: I've just found an other bug that prevents artworks to be embedded to output files. Please don't download this build below (2459), I'm about to upload an other build. I'll post it here asap.
Beta build 2459 is here after a long pause.
Change log:
Added: Options to use flac for tagging instead of ttagger when using flac or flaccl
Added: An option to save logs to a zip file
Added: Speed option now has a decimal part
Added: Seperate log for command lines
Added: TAC will now check output file's size to see if encoding was successful
Added: TAC will use 64bit version of refalac when it's possible
Fixed: Disabling writing tags didn't work
Fixed: Speed option failed if it was the only activated option
Fixed: "Custom folder tree" created empty file name if source had no tags
Fixed: When "Custom folder tree" was selected, output file wasn't constructed using tag data
Fixed: Lame didn't write artwork if it was selected to write tags
Fixed: lossywav didn't work with wavpack
Fixed: lossywav information wasn't shown in main window summary list
Updated: AlphaControls to 8.48
Updated: QAAC and refalac to 2.24
Updated: Opusenc to 0.1.7
Updated: Wavpack to 4.7.0
Updated: LossyWAV to 1.3.0f
Edit2: [QAAC and refalac to 2.19] to [QAAC and refalac to 2.24]

Beta build 2472.
Change log:
added: a few more error messages for cue sheet processing
fixed: samplerate and channels options are now shown all the time in summary
fixed: artworks weren't embedded in some cases
updated: fdkaac to 0.4.0

Build 2472 working well for me, ozok. Thanks for all your efforts. TAC is one of my favorite audio converters :)
Small note: I've noticed a couple of times that the .exe's of your builds have different build numbers than the release build numbers. For example, the .exe of the 32-bit portable build 2472, when you hover over it lists 2459. Yet when you run the program it says 2472 in the About section. I thought I'd mention it since this happened before and I didn't know if it was a mistake or not. Thank you.

Well, I do my tests and development on x64 build so its build number gets increased. When I release a version I update build number of 32bit build too. But latest version was sort of a hotfix and was prepared in a hurry so I must have forgotten it. Apart from that both builds have the same functionality.

It appears that you cannot drag & drop a .ts file into TAC, yet you can Add it (File | Add Files).
Oh, & been meaning to say, 2472_beta (& don't recall offhand if earlier beta were the same), the UI, had* been opening horribly, "drawing" was not correct, when a skin was selected.
I've got an i5 with onboard (on CPU I guess it is) Intel HD 4000 graphics.
*had
Had, because the other day I installed a graphics driver update from Intel. And on now opening TAC, skinning enabled, it seems fine. Don't know if it were the driver update that helped, because I typically have skins disabled in any case.
(Interesting. Enabling the skin causes TAC to use ~8 MB more RAM.)
ozok
7th November 2013, 17:43
Thanks for headsup about *.ts, it was indeed missing. I don't know much about how skinning is done, I don't have the source code for it but it makes sense that it uses more memory, all the extra bitmaps to draw etc.

On a different computer I'm see this also.
First I open 2244, then 2472.

Edit:
Seems that not all the skins cause the behavior.
iOS dark does, yet Opus does not?
ozok
7th November 2013, 20:59
Well I had seen some controls not working properly but that's something on a whole new level! There isn't much I can do about this, except for suggesting disabling skin or using an other skin than default one (iOS Dark). I'll inform skinning components developers ASAP about this. I've encountered some problems that only occured on certain skins only.

Hi Ozok,
I have a recent 64bit beta and sometime it fails or I get incorrectly encoded files when converting from a cue - I tried from AC3 to flac, and from wav to flac with the same result. The source is one big AC3 audio file of 102 min., divided in a cue into 23 titles. The one before last title gets not encoded sometimes, while the last always encodes as long as the whole file: 102 min. instead of 2 min. The last title is in fact mono while all others are stereo, so I wonder if it can cause such issue.
I can upload the source, and error logs somewhere if you like to check it. It's 340 MB big.

Maybe some eac3to integration? (gives loads of benefits, DTS core extraction, DTS Master Audio decoding with ArcSoft).
Still, best audio GUI I've seen since CUETools! :D
Oh, glad to see you chose QAAC over Ahead's by the way. iTunes sucks, but it does still have the best AAC encoder (well, this was the conclusion of the tests done over at hydrogenaudio).

@kleen somehow cue parsing library I use cannot parse your sample correctly. I didn't like it much anyway, I'm trying to write my own parser at the moment. And it looks good so far but there are many things to do.
@bcn_246 maybe in the future, for decoding DTS instead of ffmpeg eac3to can be used as a second option.

Trim needs some manner to more accurately set positions.
The way it looks the only way to set positions is with the mouse.
And while I may be able to cut 7 seconds out, but I'm unable to cut 10 seconds. My hand, mouse, just aren't that accurate :-).

Hi Ozok,
audio processing from a video file is broken in recent beta build:
* Extracting (copying) doesn't work at all. TAC displays error message that x.audio cannot be created;
* Conversion works partly, for example when converting from a DVD, TAC doesn't convert audio from the first VOB but processes all others.
* Conversion works OK with a single file, like mkv, mp4, ts.
* Not sure: seems that mp2 in a video file is recognised as mp3, at least it's shown so by an error message ("file -0.mp3 cannot be created").
==========
Seize the opportunity, here is my additional wish list for your spare time :p
1. File naming convention:
1a) If there are more than 9 audio titles (files) to be created may you please add a leading 0 before 1 - 9? It would help sorting files, and play them in the correct order by an audio player which doesn't handle tags well.
1b) May you please add in the Options entry for a file naming convention, so it can be changed by a user? Like: %#% (file number), %performer% (or artist), %title%, %song title%.
2. Audio from a video file:
May you please add support for chapters marks (and names) in MKV, MP4, BR, and DVD? Would be great to split audio according to chapter marks and have another option to handle it as a single file. Now, TAC processes i.e. each VOB within the same video title as a separate file, which is "no" for a music video ;)
Thank you!

Extracting (copying) doesn't work at all. TAC displays error message that x.audio cannot be created;
I've fixed the problem with audio extraction from video files. I forgot to change start/end code in audio copy part, so given start/end values were invalid. kolpotoru had sent me a sample file, but problem there was different.
Conversion works partly, for example when converting from a DVD, TAC doesn't convert audio from the first VOB but processes all others.
Maybe the first vob doesn't have an audio track. You know, the one with legal warnings in it etc.

Added in one of the latest commits, it was necessary after adding CD ripper.
b) May you please add in the Options entry for a file naming convention, so it can be changed by a user? Like: %#% (file number), %performer% (or artist), %title%, %song title%.

Interesting idea, I'll see what I can do about it. Extracting audio from DVD can be done with MEncoder but I should add it to the package and it'll increase the file size. FFMpeg cannot open DVDs AFAIK.

No, I tried with custom made DVDs that I know how they were authored. TAC didn't work with VOBs that have one or two audio streams (AC3, and mp2). I didn't try to get audio from menus but film/concert part only.
