Sadly, I own Panasonic Viera TH-42PY85P which has SDHC slot, but no AVCHD support.

Many thanks everybody for your help :)

After much testing I have determined that the only version capable of generating compatible PAL muxes for use with my Panasonic PZ81 TV is.... "Build 540 - 2009-02-24".

I can now confirm that all builds above 540 fail with my Panasonic PZ81 TV but work fine with my BD-35.

This is most bizarre as I felt sure that other builds worked with my TV

Good. I think I know what the problem is.

Can you take a look at all CPI/MPL files generated with 540 that work on your TV?

Check if CPI have CLEX segment and MPL have PLEX segment at the end (using HEX editor).

Please try again with the latest update (it is still build 552 but will update). There is an option in AUTHOR - ..for Panasonic Viera TV sets. Check it and test.

I really didn't see anything wrong with the cli/mpl files, but changed the 'title' to be displayed - let me know if it works.

Where did you uploaded this new version? because on the multiAVCHD thread the build version is written "551"

Hi,

When I press the button AVCHD for Panasonic TV, program after short while ends with error:

(RT) Invalid array index. Array is empty - Line 10138.

:(

It seems that it creates all files but ends with above error. I put these files on SD card (tried to author mts file from the camera) - effect the same - TV doesnt recognize this...

deank
29th April 2009, 14:33
Can you execute multiUPDATE and try again?

(at this point line 10138 - files are not complete and won't work)

OK, error disappeared but the effect is the same :( TV do not recognize it.

Some time ago I tried to author AVCHD movie by TMPGenc Xpress and it worked on this TV. Program of course made recompression, so this solution is non-sense. I can make it again and send you all files (except mts), how do you think? It would be usefull for you?

I'll wait for SMD to test with his TV. The sample files he sent do not indicate what could be the exact problem and difference between build 540 and 553.

On the other hand you were never successful with any of the samples posted in this thread, so I wouldn't expect it to work for your TV. The samples you sent contain data which I cannot recreate - like menu, navigation graphics, etc.

espero
29th April 2009, 15:07
SMD was successfull only using older version... I am almost sure that his TV and mine uses exactly the same AVCHD module...

It is impossible that in files which I sent you there are some menus, navigation graphics, etc because this camera do not support such features. And also Panasonic TV's do not support such things - these features are not needed for them and if they exist they are being ignored...

EDIT:
IT WORKED!!! I authored the same 0000.mts from the camera using build 540 and it worked!

I tried to author some other videos (720x576, 25fps, vob (mpg)) using build 540 with no luck. TV says it is not recognized:

Maybe option aspect ratio 16:9 should be on?!

What about option AVCHD/BDMV version 001 and 002? maybe this should be changed?

I binary compared all files from build 540 and 554 and the only difference is the time-stamp - nothing else. You can try this in 554: delete your .ini file and do another test.

Also - can you check with mkv file, not mts.

There are 4 bytes that are different in the playlist, but those are generated by tsmuxer... What version do you have?

espero
29th April 2009, 17:39
I deleted ini file, checked again Panasonic SDHC and For Viera options and... the same.

I do not understand it either.......

I cant use mkv because I tried 3 of them and also one vob (720x576,25fps) and it doesnt worked even on b540...

deank
29th April 2009, 17:44
Execute multiUPDATE.exe and check again. It will work now... please let it work.

espero
29th April 2009, 17:51
cpi only difference is 1 byte but in mpl there are 13 differences, I think that something wrong (for this TV) is in playlist...

deank
29th April 2009, 17:53
Did you check with multiUPDATE.exe to update your multiAVCHD.exe? now playlists are identical. and cpis and everything... it is the chapter marks that cause the problem - just the same way as with Panasonic BD players... they refuse if there are chapter marks and TV's also have problem with it.

espero
29th April 2009, 17:54
Did you check with multiUPDATE? now playlists are identical.

YES - IT WORKS!

So the chapter marks shouldnt be there...

There is another problem, why any other mkv's, vob's etc are not working...

deank
29th April 2009, 18:05
Ok, lets see if build 555 will handle it all.

Hopefully it won't break anything in Panasonic BD players with SDHC - in fact it may make this 10s cut which davsim experienced go away.

How do you import VOB in multiAVCHD? I never said it is supported anyway. Do the other file-types work and do they play on your TV?

Hi SMD

Actually I`ve been tried on the Viera brazilian version of 42PZ80. It plays AVCHD, but I don`t know but the last sample that Espero sent which worked (build 540) did not worked in this TV. For a while I thought that my TV was the problem but I got some files thru DMC-TS1 (Lumix with AVCHD lite) and the files had played ok. My question is if you are just using videos in PAL to make work at TV
Is it possible to send your samples to me to make tests on my TV?

It is possible that your PAL TV won't accept NTSC videos (like the alaska 29.970fps).

Process again your old mts file (25fps) with build 556 just to make sure there are no other issues.
Try with another PAL clips (25pfs).

* edit * : You can use "CUT END" in Muxer tab to shorten your test times :). Put 120 in the box and it will cut just 2 mins from your video.

A simple trick you can try:

Open (with HEX editor (http://www.handshake.de/user/chmaas/delphi/download/xvi32.zip)) 00000.CPI for one of the files you can't play and change zero-based offset 0x0108 from 5X to 4X.

You can also try the same with the MPL file for this MTS/CPI pair @ offset 0x82.

I noticed that Panasonic's HDwriter (the version I have is 2.5E) will accept nothing but 1080i/1080p (values 0x4X and 0x6X).

Now I will try to reencode it to 1920x1080i and then play like you said...

edit:
reencoded volcano.mkv to 1920x1080i - doesnt work :(

edit 2:

WOW!!! :)

IT WORKS!!!

I changed the vaules as you said, and IT WORKS!!! Can you add such function to CHEAT these TV's? I changed 5X to 4X in both: CPI and MPL.

I think Panasonic Vieras only accepts 1980x1080i and 1980x1080p, ane maybe even not "p" since the cameras are only "i". I havent 1080p material so I cant check this...

Run your multiAVCHD and it will update to 557. Let me know if it works.

You will find a new panel in AUTHOR tab for Panasonic. Set your desired forced resolution (it seems 1080i works).

* edit * I got a report that it is working now with 1080i forced resolution.... finally.

Yes it FINALLY works :) but... only for 25fps
Do you know what is the offset of fps setting in cpi and mpl?

Maybe we can do the same cheat with fps setting?

Second thing:
I tried this cheat (with 1080i setting) on MPEG:
Video: MPEG2 Video 720x576 (4:3) 25.00fps 4946Kbps [Video]
Audio: MPEG Audio 48000Hz stereo 320Kbps [Audio]

and it doesnt work...

I restored the title name (file name) instead of multiAVCHD for TVs Direct Navigator Menu.

FPS is in the same byte you changed... Change is only possible in CPI files. 0x42 to 0x43 for example.

1 - 23.976fps
2 - 24fps
3 - 25fps
4 - 29.970fps
6 - 50fps
7 - 59.94fps

etc... experiment...

I doubt MPEG2 audio will work whatever tweaks you apply :)

Don't expect a TV set to has all the functionality of a Blu-ray player... It is just an AVCHD player - that's it. That's why Panasonic BD players play almost all SDHC content. It is not the same.

No luck :(
I changed in cpi offset 0x0108 from 44 to 43 (29.970fps to 25fps) on the 29.970fps file (alaska.mkv)
