SeeMoreDigital said it played on his TV with the samples. And I was asking about TV system - that's why I re-posted his log, because it is 25fps.

Try to put your DCIM and MISC folders too in the root of the card. Also - it is possible that this file uses specific option - not compatible with TV AVCHD playback - I have no way of knowing.

That's what it did, but I changed it so it wouldn't touch tsmuxer decision about AR (in clpi file). I'll see if I can add MKV AR to be set instead.
Or perhaps there is a way to set the external Force 16:9 flag for each individual title rather than in the video?

If it's not a straightforward fix, please don't worry too much about it. I don't want this change for a minor issue to cause any other new problems.

Can someone try using split points (multiple mts files) to test with Panasonic BD players?

1) Load a mkv file ~ 1GB
2) Muxer tab: Cut-end: 240
3) Muxer tab: m2ts split at: 40
4) check [x] Panasonic output
5) Create a compilation (STREAM should contain multiple files)
6) Test with BD player (SDHC)

Hi everyone

Well I have an TH-42PZ80 and in Brazil we use 60Hz. The sample#10 (SD_Test10) didn`t work at TV for instance. I did not tested the samples sent by SMD but I believe that it won`t work too, due to last reports.

Panasonic BD60 testing build 547 for Aspect Ratio flag detection per title and mixed aspect ratio compilation.

First, I tested 3 clips in a mixed compilation. The clips I used were the MKV source files from the earlier tests I posted, plus one new clip. All tests were done in build 547 without "Force 16:9".

SD_TEST_DS004 720x480, 4:3, 29.97, 02:20s
SD_TEST_DS005 720x480, 16:9, 29.97, 00:46s
SD_TEST_DS006 (http://drop.io/fbraq71#) 720x480, 16:9, 29.97, 02:29s

The Aspect Ratio detection and switching is working, from title to title. The 4:3 and both 16:9 clips were played at their proper aspect ratios.

During this test, I noticed something which I hadn't before. It is possibly a Panasonic bug or poor performance.

On build 547 compilations or single titles, the 720x480 16:9 titles have a long delay before playing. From the playlist, when you press Play the screen goes to black, then the counter shows 00:00 for about 9 seconds, then the video starts playing at 00:10s. So the first 9 seconds of the video/audio is cut off.

I re-checked the source .MKV and multiAVCHD .MTS files and there is no missing video/audio. The full clips play from the beginning on a PC.

So, I checked build 547 with 720x480 4:3. Although there is a slight delay before playing, the full video plays from the beginning on the Panasonic.

I thought this might have something to do with the method to detect 16:9, so I went back and checked my old SD_TEST_DS005 which was authored with build 540 and the "Force 16:9" option. Once again, the first 9 seconds of the video is skipped and playback starts from 00:10s. So, this was happening before only with "Force 16:9" but I didn't notice earlier.

As a further test, I re-authored my old test SD_TEST_DS002 1280x720P with a longer duration on build 547:

SD_TEST_DS007 (http://drop.io/pohzklo#) 1280x720, 16/9, 59.94fps, 00:29s

When authored, this clip is shown as 1.778 in the multiAVCHD log. When played in the Panasonic, the screen is black and the display shows 00:00 for 4-5 seconds, then the clip starts playing from 00:01s. In the case of this clip, the first two words of dialog are cut off (and corresponding video).

I went back and played my old shorter clip SD_TEST_DS002 authored with build 540 (no 16:9 detection) and the full video/audio played properly from the beginning with nothing missing from the start.

This may simply be a Panasonic problem, so I don't know if there is a fix for the delay playing back with this Force 16:9 technique.

Since I have only just noticed this, perhaps someone else can download SD_TEST_DS006 (http://drop.io/fbraq71#) and see if it cuts off the first 9 seconds on their player.

Are you using SDHC card or a regular SD/MMC? Can you repeat the test with the same content burnt to a DVD disc?

6) Test with BD player (SDHC)
Tested on BD60 with build 547.

Source: was the 58m:58s 1280x720, 59.94fps video I used before

In playlist it shows as one title with duration 03:59 (the sum of 4 clips). There is an "X" next to the title and when I try to play, it says "Cannot Play".

I tried a workaround which I used with someone else's sample from the other thread (1280x720_25fps.7z). I hit Return to exit the Direct Navigation playlist and went back to the blue Panasonic default background with no menu. Then I pressed play. The video did play all the way through.

- The beginning was clipped 9 seconds in the same way as described in my post above.

- The playback of 4 consecutive titles seemed to be seamless. Nicely done.

- Skip forward/back did not work. (Operation prohibited.) This may have to do with playing from the default blue screen rather than the Direct Navigation playlist.

Are you using SDHC card or a regular SD/MMC?
I am using a 2GB regular SD card because I do not have any PC with an SDHC slot (only SD). I haven't noticed any previous performance issues though. My earlier tests with 720P and 1080i 14-15Mbps without the 16:9 detection played at full speed without cutting anything off. My current tests with missing 9 seconds are only 3-4Mbps.

Okay - nice... This seems to be a workaround for SPLIT files.

Example:

1) You have 8GB card.
2) Load 4.5GB MKV.
3) Set split at 4000MiB in multiAVCHD.
4) Ignore the warning.
5) Create [AVCHD for Panasonic SDHC]
6) Click the remote: PLAY - RETURN - PLAY.

:)

edit: May be Skip to next will work if you add more than 1 title - you can try.
edit2: I updated multiAVCHD to build 549 to process more MPL and CPI files... You can try again.

Can you repeat the test with the latest build (updated just 1 min ago).
I repeated my compilation test on BD60 with build 548.

I used the previously posted test clip source MKV files, but I combined the HD and Standard Def clips.

SD_TEST_DS007 1280x720, 16:9, 59.94fps, 00:29s
SD_TEST_DS006 720x480, 16:9, 29.97, 02:29s
SD_TEST_DS004 720x480, 4:3, 29.97, 02:20s

I still find a similar delay on the 16:9 clips as reported in my previous post. The 1280x720 is now missing the first 3 words instead of just 2 (cutting the first 1s). The second clip 720x480 is still missing 9 seconds. This problem happens regardless of whether the individual video is played from the playlist or consecutively or skipped forward/back to play.

I don't know if your players support over 8GB cards - you need to check your player user's manual.
The manual mentions SDHC from 4GB to 32GB.

27th April 2009, 14:35
I will try, I have a 16gb card, and a 4.63 gb mkv that i will split at 4000mb with 549.

Since you have SDHC, would you mind also testing this clip to see if the first 9 seconds are cut off? Press play and watch the counter. Mine stays on 00:00 on a black screen for 9 seconds, then jumps to 00:10 and finally starts playing.

SD_TEST_DS006 (http://drop.io/fbraq71#)

The clip should start with a green movie trailer "Preview has been approved for" screen, but on mine it starts with an overhead shot of surfboards.

Build 549 update.
16gb sdhc
I loaded a 4.37gb mkv (ends up being 4.63 after multiavchd is done)
1280x720 23.97fps
Set the mts split at 4000
Loaded perfectly in my NTSC Model SC-BT100 and showed one title 1hr33min...(no "X" by title)
Playing fine as we speak, DID NOT have to do the workaround mentioned above, it just worked.
The only glitch is i cannot FF or REW it freezes and goes back to title menu.

@davsim i will try your sample and report back

@davsim: can you check the split option again with the latest build to see if it will need the play-return-play steps. I think I fixed it, but still..

Also - the 16:9 thing has nothing to do with this 10sec delay. You're using tsmuxer 1.9.9, right? It may be because of the PTS stamps in the video... Also - try with normal MKV file - not a trailer. I've experienced problems with some AVC in MP4/MOV which have audio misaligned purposely at the end of the green warning.

This now plays normally from the Direct Navigator playlist. Still nice and seamless. (9 seconds are still cut off from the beginning of a 720P source mkv).

Don't use [x] Panasonic SDHC option but a normal multiAVCHD compilation with avchd for dvd-r button and [x] stricter option in settings and burn to DVD-RW.

It has effect only with [AVCHD for DVD-R] and will make multiAVCHD not generate AUXDATA/CERTIFICATE/BDJO/JAR/META/etc... folders.

Another thing to try next is to enable FOLDER input mode with [x] Panasonic output and see if it will work.

Can you UNcheck [x] Panasonic in AUTHOR tab, ADD 4-5 AVCHD folders, CHECK [x] Panasonic and create [AVCHD for Panasonic] output for testing?

Your clip starts at 4 seconds on my player, shows disney splash screen.
Thanks. So, it's not just my player, but your delay is shorter (due to SDHC vs. standard SD?).

davsim: You don't have [CUT START] option changed in multiAVCHD, right?

No.

Also - try with normal MKV file - not a trailer. I've experienced problems with some AVC in MP4/MOV which have audio misaligned purposely at the end of the green warning.

That file was mp4/mov/aac source, but it was fully re-encoded with MeGUI to x264/ac3 because of the wrong aspect ratio and resolution.

I also had the same delay on another earlier test file I posted done with build 540. The source of that video was broadcast MPEG2/MP2 audio also fully re-encoded with MeGUI to x264/ac3.

Both of the above mentioned .MTS files from multiAVCHD play fully from the start when played on a PC in Media Player Classic.

Can you repeat the test with the same content burnt to a DVD disc?

Well, I tested with DVD-R. I authored one disc with multiAVCHD build 549 (TsMuxer 1.9.9) and one just with TsMuxer/GUI 1.9.7 alone. Both DVD-R discs had the same 9 seconds missing at the start of the video when played on my BD60.

I played the multiAVCHD DVD-R in my PC with PowerDVD and it played correctly, starting from the very beginning without cutting anything.

I looked at another of my previously authored TsMuxer AVCHD DVD-R discs, which was an MKV I did not encode myself and that disc does not seem to have anything cut off when played on the BD60.

I don't have any DVD-RW, but I checked my multiAVCHD settings and "Stricter AVCHD folder mode" has been checked throughout my testing. I just made a new DVD-R of a 30 sec 1280x720P video with only the BDMV folder on the disc and it played (cut off 9 secs again).

Yes, this works. I brought in 5 AVCHD folders. 4 were single titles and one was a 3 title compilation. BD60 build 550.

All 7 videos showed up in the Direct Navigator playlist and played fine (except for some videos missing a few seconds at the start.

I don't have older builds. If any of the samples work with your TV, can you create a new and replace the index/movieobj files and test? I have no idea what could cause your TV to stop playing the output. Try with a single title, small file, one mpls/clpi/m2ts.

Build 543 used one title, one mpls/clpi/m2ts and bdmv files are the same as in the latest build when using 1 title/file input. If you have a sample that works with your TV - post a link so I can see what is wrong(?!).

I would like to say that above file - from my camera works fine when I put this together with original mpl, cpi, bdm files generated by camera.

Please try to find out what is happening... I was so glad to hear you said that it works for Panasonic SDHC... :(

I don't have older builds. If any of the samples work with your TV, can you create a new and replace the index/movieobj files and test?Bugger...

I did not keep any of my older muxes/samples!

I wonder if anybody else kept any of the older builds?

@jfcarbel: Are you able to test what I asked in post #124?

I will give it a try and report back.

UPDATE:
It now works, my Panasonic BD30 can now play it even with the Stricter AVCHD folder mode checked

Great work, thanks.

Great work, thanks.

So it means no more tricks with Panasonic BD players with these AUX/CERTIFICATE folders if content is true AVCHD.

Deank: can you tell me why i'm getting this error for a .m2ts file that is under 4 gig in size?

You're using old version of tsMuxeR. Please go to multiAVCHD thread (1st page) and download THE COMPLETE FULL Setup_multiAVCHD_2.6.exe. Extract it to a clean location - for example D:\ and try again.

And another thing: you're importing HDwriter folder. Answer "NO" when the prompt with question about individual playlists appears. It is for Blu-ray import, not AVCHD, although it should work.

@SMD: You didn't update your tsMuxeR to other version than 1.9.9, right? Can you just download some of the samples you remember to work. There are links in this thread and in multiAVCHD's.

Unfortunately, all the linked samples all seem to be NTSC. Although my BD35 can play NTSC and PAL, my PZ81-B TV only appears to support PAL.

Is there anybody out-there that can generate a PAL sample for me?

Send me these files mpl/cpi/bdm. Also try to replace only one file at a time: 1st replace the MPL only and check if it will work... if not - restore original and replace CPI only.

Post back.

@SMD: I just generated one:

SD_TEST15 (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/SD_TEST15.exe) (500K) 1920x1080p@25fps with AC3 audio (build 551).

SD_TEST16 (http://multiavchd.deanbg.com/SD_TEST15.exe) (500K) 1920x1080p@25fps with AC3 audio (build 543).

multiAVCHD build 543 (from digital-digest). (http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download-1795_0_26_file_Setup_multiAVCHD_2.6.exe.html)

Also there is a link to 2.6.540 - the first build with Panasonic SDHC here (http://www.digital-digest.com/software/download-1795_0_25_file_Setup_multiAVCHD_2.6.exe.html).

Extract them to different location and make sure to answer NO when the UPDATE prompt appears.

I have just sent you an email with file structure which works (from camera) and file structure which doesnt work (file from the camera authored by multiAVCHD). Later I will send you results of my experiments with replacing files...

OK, here goes my experiences with replacing files:

1. I put the working files (from camera) to SD card - SUCCESS
2. I replaced cpi file for this generated by multiAVCHD (for the same 0000.mts) - FAILED
3. I replaced cpi to original and replaced mpl - FAILED
4. I replaced mpl to original and replaced index.bdm - SUCCESS
5. I replaced index.bdm to original and replaced movieobj.bdm - SUCCESS
6. I replaced movieobj.bdm to original and replaced 0000.mts for this muxed by multiAVCHD - FAILED!

I made another experiments. With the replaced 0000.mts (muxed by multiAVCHD) I replaced:

1. cpi for this generated by multiAVCHD - FAILED
2. mpl for this generated by multiAVCHD - FAILED

SD_TEST15 (500K) 1920x1080p@25fps with AC3 audio (build 551) - FAILED

SD_TEST16 (500K) 1920x1080p@25fps with AC3 audio (build 543) - FAILED

I doubt I can do anything. Panasonic BD players seem to work fine with multiAVCHD output. TV's are a strange breed.

Can you format your SDHC card in the camcoder, record ONLY ONE 10sec clip and send me the whole structure with all files?

(I have just sent you an email)

Unfortunately I can't :( I have a movie which is not backed up. I tried also the movie from another AVC cameras and it worked. I will try to find on the Internet some complete one short clip together with all files. Maybe you have something like this? from another camera? As I said - it works from any AVCHD camera...

Maybe someone from here can send such clip? It would be great!

Here is the only exe file for 543 version requested by SMD:

Was just a pure luck because I didn't pressed the upgrade button. ;)

Offtopic: what type of video files are played by these HDTVs? Only AVCHD?

enjoy,

They play H.264 AVC but the problems come from the auxiliary files (bdm/mpl/cpi), not media-files (mts).

They play also MPEG2 (I dont know how, but there is such information in the manual).
