I'm encoding Blade Trinity with AutoMKV...
I prefer to transcode the audio tracks rather than use the 'copy original' option...
I like to include a stereo and surround version since stereo often sounds better on low-end systems and a 2-pass volume boost often helps all round...
Blade Trinity even has a DTS ES 6.1 (7 channel) surround... does anyone know when BeSweet/Belight might support AAC/MP4 6.1 surround... ???

btw
Is there a way to convert DTS 6.1 to MP4 6.1 ...

I'm not sure that an aac encoder supports the correct mapping for 7 & more channels. Actually, I haven't tested with these kind of sources. So, if you can provide a sample I'll look at this.

I've been working on The Aristocats (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Aristocats) but am yet to transcode anything successfully into 5.1 MP4a ... ever !!!
I used BeLight 0.21 (BeSweet v1.5b31) since it supports VOB's since I use DVDDecrypter to direct-copy my audio tracks...
(I've avoided using DGIndex because it seams to convert to "AC3 3/2" rather than "AC3 5.1" ... by eliminating the LFE channel).
However, all speech is missing (the speech track seams to have gone AWOL).
I did a similar project with Band of Brothers (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Band_of_Brothers) using the BeSweet GUI with similar results... and I couldn't even figure out how to set the quality level...
I then tried converting to WAV in 0.21 (works and sounds fine) and then converting to MP4a with RC1 but it closes within 1 second.
I know I'm missing a few apps but I don't think I'm using them...

(I've avoided using DGIndex because it seams to convert to "AC3 3/2" rather than "AC3 5.1" ... by eliminating the LFE channel).
DGIndex only extract the track, can't recode eliminating the LFE.
You can safely use DGIndex to extract the ac3.
However, all speech is missing (the speech track seams to have gone AWOL).
I did a similar project with Band of Brothers using the BeSweet GUI with similar results... and I couldn't even figure out how to set the quality level...
I then tried converting to WAV in 0.21 (works and sounds fine) and then converting to MP4a with RC1 but it closes within 1 second.
Using Belight 0.2.2.0 RC1 all work without problems, transcoding ac3 to aac. Or you can use a command line for BeSweet like:
"E:\Encoding\_ENCODING FILES\Audio Files\BeSweetv1.5b31\BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "h:\Incomming\BoB 1\BoB 01 English.ac3" -output "h:\Incomming\BoB 1\BoB 01 English.m4a" -logfilea "E:\Encoding\_ENCODING FILES\Audio Files\BeSweetv1.5b31\BeSweet.log" ) -azid( -c normal ) -bsn( -vbr 0.5 -6chnew ) -ota( -g max )
instead -vbr 0.5 you can use -cbr 320 or -abr 256 for instance.
If I convert to 6 individual WAV tracks how do I convert them to 5.1 MP4a using BeLight... or BeSweet... ???
Then you need a .mux file like BeSweet input.

Can anyone be of assistance in this matter, I've searched and inquired on several forums for over a week now with no answers.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I finally found out how to install and use Besweet and Belight. The question I have is this: The program immediately converted my VOB Audio files into MP3 Files with no problem but at the top of the black pop up window indicating what the program is doing there is this message "Error 64: unable to get ogg.dll interface download and install ogg vorbis DS (direct show filter)".As this did not effect my converting VOB files to MP3 is this download necessary? I am using Besweet 1.5 and Belight 0.21 as I was informed through doom9 that Belight 0.22 does not support conversion of VOB files. I also downloaded to the same folder the VOB Input dll file. Would Belight 0.22 support converting VOB files to MP3 if this VOB Input dll file was present, or does it not support it at all? I appreciate the information
Thanks

About error 64 : you need libvorbis.dll in your BeSweet folder...
And no, 0.22 builds don't have vob support yet.

I already have what is listed as the newest version of Besweet on my computer (1.5b31) which should have libvorbis.dll included should it not?

I am trying 0.2.2 RC1, and I think that I found a few bugs in its user interface which didn't existed in previous version (0.2.2 b9).
1. If I load some AC3 file, the Azid Settings / Dynamic Compression is checked when it shouldn't be. If I uncheck it, and click on the Advanced Settings, it will check itself.
2. If I load some file into the batch list, right click on it and choose Remove unchecked, I got an error message: "Access violation at address 00504502 in module 'BeLight.exe'. Read of address 00000030." After that, everytime when I click on the Advanced Settings, I got: "Access violation at address 004F36AA ...". Also, if I toogle between AAC Stereo and AAC 5.1, I got: "Access violation at address 00504F19 ...", and if I click on the Start Processing, I got: "Access violation at address 0050F563 ...".
This will happening until I remove an item from the batch list with Clear list from the context menu.
3. Same thing is happening if I only right click on the batch list and don't choose anything from the context menu. After that, with click on the Advanced Settings: "Access violation at address 004F36AA ...", toogle between AAC Stereo and AAC 5.1: "Access violation at address 0050F563 ..." and this will repeat until I remove an item from the batch list.

BeLight is still complaining that FAAC.exe, SpeexENC.exe, Aften.exe, Flake.exe and Aud-X.exe are all missing but otherwise all is well...
However... BL refuses to load up a WAV file... it's happy with AC3 or even .VOB AC3...
It recognizes the .WAV extention but it doesn't actually load up...

The OTA algorithms to TimeStretch are outdated, and SoundTouch for AviSynth 2.5.7 seems the better free quality option. You can use BeHappy (or wavi without .NET dependence) to make TimeStretch functions.

I used the latest version (3.55) of WinAmp to rip the the CD's into PCM WAV and then Belight with 'Q1 and HEv2' to convert into M4a...
It works like a charm, I love the VBR and the files, at max quality, are still less than 1MB/minute-of-audio...
Unfortunately WinAmp doesn't seam to download the front CD-cover like WMP... which comes on the Zoom Player interface on playback...
I still have issues with loading files or directories since it crashes if 2 or more, files are present even if I un-check the one...
Folder batching would have really put the cherry on the top to an otherwise lightning fast experience... each file takes less than 20 seconds and that's for an 8 minute Bach Fugue... a far cry from movie audiotracks that allow you ample time to make coffee, order out pizza and have a shower...

How about using Transcode 0.3 source codes? You already did TranzGUI with them.
BTW, I think that I found some unexpected behavior with TranzGUI. It don't have its own thread, so I post a report here. I tried search in the forum, but nobody reported similar problem.
I have WAV files ripped from DTS-CD, they are 16 bits, 44.1 kHz, 5.1 ch. If I open such DTS-WAVs in TranzGUI, it says that file is stereo, and if I click on 6 Mono Wav I get error message: "Works only with a 6 channels file !!!"
Tranzcode CLI works just fine with such files, both 0.3 and 0.4 versions.
Please, could you tell me if I am doing something wrong?
I forgot to mention, if I rebuild such DTS-WAV files with DTS Parser by Hypercube Softwares, TranzGUI works fine with them.
EDIT 2: I just tried fresh new AC3Filter Tools and its bsconvert CLI. After its conversion resulting file is recognized by BeLight and works fine. Here is what it says about input file:
Stream format: DTS 3/2.1 (5.1) 44100Hz
Bitstream type: 14bit low endian
Frame size: free format
Samples: 1024
Bitrate: unknown
SPDIF stream type: 0xc

hi guys,
a stange thing happens with 0.22 rc1 (had no problem with 0.22 beta 9) : i can't open ac3 files.
Whenever I drag & drop one in the file zone, or try to open in the menu, it just doesn't appear. it's like i hadn't done anything.
I've tried with other kinds of files (mp3 at least), it works as intended. I just can't add any ac3 file to the list.
Would you guys have any idea of the possible source of the problem and/or a way to fix it ?
Once again, I didn't have any problem with 0.22 beta 9 (ac3 files could be dragged & dropped or opened just fine).
Thanks.

I don't know what went wrong on your side, but I can tell you that ac3 import works very well on my side.
Tested with 0.0.2.0 RC1 and 0.0.2.0 Beta9.
So there is something burked at your side.
Maybe a file comparision on the two installs shows you where the troublemaker lies :p
Maybe there is something missing....

thanks for the reply. but i don't have "two installs". i just had a folder with besweet & belight 0.22 beta 9 in it, and everything worked fine.
then i downloaded the 0.22 rc 1 from the website, and unzipped it (autmoatically replacing the old beta 9 files when applicable), and that's it.
any idea ?
thanks...

@Kurtnoise13
Thanks for your time.
Here is a small attached sample of one of the ac3 files. I tried to open the sample in BeLight to make sure and it is not opening.

Ok...it seems that this is the same issue (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1019084#post1019084) reported by Castellanos. :(

Here is a small attached sample of one of the ac3 files. I tried to open the sample in BeLight to make sure and it is not opening.Whenever I find an AC3 file that can't be opened in BeLight it's most probably because it's broken in some way.
I have found that running such files thru' "Delay Cut" fixes the issue. Like so: -

@ParkerLewis
Where did you get your ac3 files from?
The one in your sample is slightly corrupted.
As SMD mentioned it can be fixed with Delay Cut.
But this is just a workaround.
If you demuxed the files from a video let us know witch one took the part, to see what went wrong.
Strange anyway, the beta can open it but the RC1 not.
The resulting wav encode in the beta throws an error but the file is playable.

This kind of ac3 streams can be obtained cutting a audio-video container by video boundaries (video frames) then the first and last audio frames are incomplete.
Also VirtualDub implement the delays adding 0 bytes at the beginning of the stream, then is a very common issue.
The same problem in BeLight when open an ac3 extracted with VirtualDubMod-Demux if previously a VD/VDM delay was applied.
Maybe if BeLight use mediainfo to analyze the stream take the error like fatal when is a simple delay.

Hmm, yeah, seeing the thread, it apparently is :/

Well, in the end i just decided to go back to 0.22 beta 9 for the time being (i just needed to convert a few files) but you're right, the "run it through a 'certified' program to make it correct any errors it might have" trick is the classic correct answer to such problems :)

I'm not completely sure I understand your last sentence... would you like me to give you a sample of the vid ?
In any case, it's your regular xvid file in a .avi container. I demuxed the .ac3 with Vdubmod (the "latest" one, as old as it is now)

Well then, i guess here's the source of the problem.

If the initial bytes before a frame header are know and also the bitrate we can know the delay:
delay = bits / bitrate = (bytes x 8) / bitrate
And here with your sample:
delay = 720 x 8 / 192000 = 30 ms.
Only one cut like this can be assumed but if you plain to do many cuts and after join the results, the end delay is noticeable.
