Key features so far:

- Dual-Core supported decryption of EVO / M2TS files (for harddisk to harddisk speed records ;o))
- Support for every pack type of an EVO (including in-place decryption of ADV_PCKs, excluding Sequence Key Sections)

Hi, all. I'm, finally, getting around to ripping my box of HD DVD discs, and I'm surprised there are missing keys after all this time. I would have thought all of the HD DVD releases were captured in the June 2009 list of ~300 films (Post #1 (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=120611)), but it seems there are a few stragglers.

I had to add Twister to the June 2009 update (on post #1), so thanks to @planet1 for the "recent" post; That code did the trick. I've only ripped a handful, and I failed on two of five (Twister being one of them). I'm sure I'll find more.

I'm looking for a key for Notting Hill, and, if anyone has one in their archive, I'd appreciate the help. Otherwise, I'd be happy to discover it and contribute the code myself if I could be directed to a process or program that would do it.

You also need the aacskeys DLL files to use with DumpHD from this post (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1835773#post1835773)

If it's a HD-DVD/BD combo drive, it will only work if you have not inserted a BD disc with MKBv72 or newer because the host cert will be revoked. Otherwhise this will allow DumpHD to get the keys for any HD-DVD disc

Thank you very much for the guidance. I've, actually, not used DumpHD before, so thank you for opening my eyes. Up to this point, I've just been using MakeMKV.

I found the DumpHD thread (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=123111) that also featured the link to the aacskeys files. I'll take a harder look at the DumpHD utility and see what I can do.

I'll dig into the DumpHD app and see what I can figure out. However, I just wanted to let you know I appreciate the assist!

Okay, I have done a bit of research to educate myself on the process you directed me to follow. I have some findings to report. First, I would guess that I'm in a good spot as I'm using the XBOX HD DVD Player, so there's no chance the Host Certificates will be revoked by a current Blu-ray Disc (MKBv72 or newer).

I have been working with DumpHD on my macOS Catalina machine. This has presented some challenges, but I think I now know what I'm doing.

The DYLIB (the macOS alternative to DLL) included with the aacskeys-0.4.0f archive (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1883655#post1883655) doesn't seem to be working. I posted a note in the DumpHD thread (https://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1907310#post1907310) about my issue.

At this point, I've got a good setup with the key files and the java app. It's starting fine, can read my HD DVD, and that's about as far as I can get for now. At least I've got a way to get the Disc ID now. :)

I'm looking forward to being able to contribute my own VUK's for these relics of HD. I will try on Windows 10 as well to see if I have more luck there.

I wanted to note that I do use MakeMKV as my primary tool. That seems to work fine with a portion of the HD DVD discs, but there are some that need manual entries in they KEYDB.cfg file. (That's how I got Twister to work.) I don't know if there's a work-around using the libraries included with that package. I might investigate that as well.

As mentioned in my post, the macOS version of aacskeys does not have the hostcert fix, so it cannot use these new host certs. Not sure that is the problem you have

With regard to the HD DVD disc format in general. A couple of weeks ago when I tried to play some discs on my old Toshiba player, most of them could not be read anymore.

I've had a few Warner titles like this but not in the amounts reported on the internet. I've also had several DVDs with this problem so it's probably just a problem with certain batches of discs. I'm more worried about the players now, my top standalone player became unusable, giving all kinds of errors, also on dvds. And one of my bluray/hddvd combo PC drives has started having trouble reading blurays, hopefully it won't spread to the hddvd part.

Sad to hear this, but all the more reason to rip one's favourite HD DVDs or re-author them to BD-R (regular not millennial discs).

May I enquire what your preferred method for removing the pulldown (from AVC & VC1 streams) is?
For some reason the forced bitstream setting (23.976 fps via mkvtoolnix) does not do the job adequately.

I'm not sure if it's the combo HDDVD/DVD discs that are going bad with old age or what but this one has a corrupted file for the second part of the main movie. So I was only able to backup half the movie. I tried using a Xbox 360 drive and a LG BD/HDDVD drive. Same results with both.

My other non-combo discs seem to be doing better as this is the first corruption I've found. This disc doesn't appear visually to be bad though...no scratches or anything. It looks brand new. The other poster used the term "de-laminating" but I'm not sure how bad it has to be before it's obvious.

Over the years I only watched this one a couple of times in a standalone Toshiba HDDVD player. The last time I watched it it was okay. I haven't hooked up the Toshiba again to see if it can read the corrupt file or not. Anyway, I'm ripping all my discs before any more go bad.

Some blu-rays that used to play perfectly start to fail here too.
For one of them a good part of the production batch seems to be affected:
"Der Schuh des Manitu Extra Large".
I bought that disc a few years ago and was happy for 4..5 plays.
Then it started to fail once and forever on a BD-80 and a UDP-205.
No more ripping possible on ASUS BW-16D1HT, Pioneer BDR-209.
Then I bought replacements, 4 in total, only to find that all of these failed.
Too late for ripping for all 5 discs I bought. All of them were squeaky clean, no scratches.

I have been dealing with the same thing over here. Most of my Warner Bros. discs have "disc rot" and can no longer be read by any means. It was a pity as my Harry Potter discs could not be ripped for my youngster's enjoyment.

My Universal discs still seem to work fine. Also, my copy of Twister works fine even though it's a WB title. I'm almost convinced the double-sided discs (DVD on one side, HD DVD on the other) are the ones at issue. The Twister disc is case-in-point as it's got a label on one side of the disc, and it's still fine. All of the Universal titles have a label.

EDIT: Just to follow-up, my hypothesis is wrong. I've found a couple of discs with a label that have gone bad. In addition, my copy of Miami Vice (2006) which was still wrapped, had a label on the disc, and a Universal title would not read when attempting to rip (constant fail). I guess we're now seeing why Blu-ray won; I've never had this problem with those pressings (knock wood).

I also could confirm the key (& everything else) for the German Terminator 2 release, but unfortunately I was not able to rip the disc via MakeMKV, or more precisely, couldn't even 'open' it. Although it was still sealed and the disc looks flawless. :/
Somebody did that successfully? Seems like it's some bug with MakeMKV, I'll give DumpHD a try at some point on a different PC..

Transformers only changed to EUR, as my UK Discs fully match the entries of the NL release.
The entry for the third Matrix incorrectly used the volume date, I changed it to the correct date of the title key file, as I've read somewhere. For Silent Hill BTW I have no idea how the date in the KEYDB came to be; it's not the volume date nor any date I found on disc..

Would also have the MKB version for all my mentioned titles, but leaving that info out for conciseness, and I guess nobody cares about that anymore.^^
Keys in the new format will follow, as will few more keys sometime later - HP4 and The Island hopefully (have the latter, but dead as well), and maybe some more.
