Worst film ever! Show and tell

Hey I really liked Mortal Kombat, and Tomb Raider. Final Fantasy had bad CGI acting with those almost emotionless faces.

Ed Wood's movies were pretty bad. Also I saw a french version of Fahrenheit 451 in high school english that was absolutely terrible! Someone could make a _much_ better version of it. Could be made into a great film.


The rating on different films in IMdb is because people have different tastes in movies.

I rented Pearl Harbor (2001). It spanned two DVDs. After watching the fist DVD half, I returned it. I don't think I ever failed to watch any other rental all the way through simply because it sucked so bad.

The biggest disappointment of all time was Star Wars Episode I. Star Wars had become a part of the fabric of our culture like no other movie. Money was really no object in making the movie. There was many years to plan this movie and mountains of material to use. Yet, when it came out, it was a stupid cartoon with live actors and CGI backgrounds; little more than a long children's toy commercial. The only interesting villain is quickly killed, and the hero is totally unlikable. I could go on for a long time about bad things about that movie.

I can't believe no one mentioned Battlefield Earth. I know the book was cheesy, what sci-fi opera isn't? But I thoroughly enjoyed the book nontheless. However the movie was a horrible dissapointment.

The worst offensive of a movie is to be boring. Evil Dead and Battlefield Earth are not guilty of this. Both are cheesy in the extreme. Both are stupid. Neither had cute girls. Yet, RottenTomatoes gives Evil Dead 100% and Battlefield Earth 4%.

I guess when the budget is low, people excuse cheesy and stupid.

The sequals to Evil Dead were better.

Battlefield Earth isn't nearly as bad as claimed. If it were so bad, it would have been ignored rather than lifted up as a bad example.

Lee Van Cleef has never acted in American Ninja. He has made some poor ninja movies, but the serie was called 'master ninja'

There is only one true American Ninja and he is Michael Dudikoff :)

yep and it was a tv show. the pilot and i think a couple of story arcs were released as movies aswell but they are still cheap "shot for tv" stuff. so one cant really expect too much from that.

Were these Lee Van Cleef ninja-movies the same films were he was always acting with his ninja-mask open? so that he had the costume, but his face was always showing? I remember seeing some of Cleef's ninja-movies in finnish-tv when I was a little boy. Name of the movie was then translated something called 'Java's tiger'. I guess it had to be the same.

I've got a new possible addition to the list on the way to my house right now: The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0144096/ I just picked it up for $1.50 on ebay. I predict a result ranging from mediocre to brutally horrible. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for the latter. Either way i'm sure i'll enjoy it.

Bubba Ho-Tep anyone? If I wasn't a night person I would've definitely fallen asleep during that one. Down by law (it's black and white so it already has a huge disadvantage in my book) was also one of the films that I watched in its original size, browsing the web in the background because I couldn't ass myself to concentrate, it seemed so boring. And you can add a lot of rated 18 cut down to get a 16 rating movies you can get in Germany to that list.. they often are cut in a way so that the story makes no sense anymore. Bruce Willis' Last Boyscout was an excellent example.. it had whole pieces of the story missing.

Hehehe. I liked SMB. It was not in anyway true to it's roots. But it was still kinda fun and original. The broblem with bringing SMB to the screen is that there was very little TnA to flaunt[princess is just flat] and the violence was fairly PC.[jumping on your enemeys and not shooting or disembowling] The engaging part has always been the game play and not the story or the characters. They are largely secondary. Is it any wonder why they are making a Metroid movie and not say Crash Bandicoot, Sonic The Hedghog, Packman, Rockman, etc movie? They may be ok for saturday morning cartoon fare. But not the movies.

IMO Down by Law is pretty good (it's not a masterpiece maybe, but I liked it). I found the little Italian guy and his accent pretty funny :D

Karate Warrior 2 - this movie is so fu..... bad that it is stupidly funny. My friends and I found it at Blockbuster, where they where selling old rented out movies for 10-20kr (1-2$) and laughed our asses off while watching it.

Yay, I can finally post! At last I've found a thread running in an area I feel qualified to comment on :D

First off I'm surprised no-one's mentioned http://www.badmovies.org Unfortunately I've seen a disproportionate amount of the stuff on there!

As to personal bests - well there are too many "B" movies to rate the best but Death Race 2000 has to get a nomination. After all it has the immortal line "You know Myra, some people might think you're cute. But me, I think you're one very large baked potato"

Battlefield Earth gets my vote for the worst big budget attempt of recent years.

And then there's this little gem I found while channel surfing. It's called "Dragon Fighter" and I think this short clip illustrates the very worst piece of editing I have ever seen!

I wish I could say I hacked it together myself but I couldn't even begin to approach that level of creative genius :)

I think the moment I decided I had to capture it for posterity was when the screen split into three randomly sized parts and that fourth angle that didn't fit into any of the available space just faded in from the side...

I'd have to say without a doubt that The Extreme Adventures of Super Dave is one of the worst movies ever created. Since getting the dvd i've had to watch it in short stints since i just can't sit through it all in one sitting. Maybe they should've gotten the editor from Dragon Fighter to really liven up all this horrible humor, but they probably couldn't have anyway since his trial version of Adobe Premier probably ran out.

As a first post, I'd like to point out that everyone missed Joan of Arc with Leelee Sobieski as our favorite heroine and Neil Patrick Harris, TV's Doogie Howser as the evil king (the guy's like 30 in the film and still looks 12... and surely nothing close to evil). I had to turn this piece of crap off after an hour and a half (nearly an hour before it was over) wishing I'd spent the time stabbing myself in the eye instead.

This is the kind of film that's created for viewing only in mental wards to the recently lobotomized to ensure the procedure went correctly. Not to mention it had to compete with Milla Jovovich being Joan of Arc the same year, and she's got miles of cred on Leelee (cuz she was in Dazed and Confused, of course).

One of the worst movies I have seen recently is "Dark Angel". It has nothing to do with the TV series. Had Jesica Alba been in it; well it would have been much better to watch. No this is the movie with Dolph Lundgren where he plays a cop invesigating strange murders. There is this stupid looking alien drug dealer come to earth. He has this gauntlet thingy with a toilet snake that pops out of the wrist area. He then lodges this in his victims forehead, injects them with heroin, exsanguinates them, and filters the endorphins from their blood. Because it is the "Ultimate" drug. :p And if that was not bad enough the only thing the alien ever says is "I come in peace". He usually says that right before he kills someone. Oh and the "Space Gun". :rolleyes:

dude, dark angel was an awesome drinking movie. i still remember some of it.

if you want to see bad, go to a video rental place and check out the horror section. i mean the horror movies you've never heard about.

b-grade does this stuff justice - straight-to-video stuff, home-shot with maybe 10 bucks and a pizza as a budget. great for a laugh though (and they somehow manage to put a director's commentary on these...)

Don't know if it's the worst, but I recently saw Womb Raider (adult take on Tomb Raider) and it sucked pretty bad. Terrible, terrible plot and acting. Yeah, I know it's an adult film, but still. Actually, that was the first adult film I ever rented, don't know if they're all that bad. If so, why sit through 2 hours of dreck with nude/sex scenes here and there when you can just get some real porno?

Haven't seen it, but House of the Dead looks really shitty too.

It's the story, the effects... I suppose it is just like "plan 9 from outer space". It is so mind-bogglingly bad it became cult because of that. Because I cannot find anything else noteworthy about it.

If you want bad taste in it's purest form, try "Ilsa, she wolf of the SS". Now there is some bad taste for you!

We can't compare Bad Taste and Plan 9.
Ed Wood was persuaded he was making a science fiction masterpiece, whereas you have just a ridiculous and boring movie that became cult because of this.
Peter Jackson did a science fiction/gore-movie parody/comedy. It's intended to make people laugh and reach its goal quite well (whereas we laugh at Edward Wood). (see the confirmation of his humour in Braindead)
As for the effects: Jackson made everything in the movie (the make-ups, the false guns, a steady-cam, etc.), used an old Bolex camera (30 sec shots max, no sound, designed for holydays movies!), played two roles... This guy is somehow a genius!

Sorry for this expression of my opinion on this, but I like too much Jackson's work :p

PS: the Making Of Bad Taste is an even more intersting film than Bad Taste itself... (yes, I admit that there are much fascinating movies than Bad Taste...;))
