I am also getting "runtime error 13" "type mismatch" directly after it demuxes the vobs. I am trying to do Gangs of New York D1 R1. Windows xp sp1. Tried twice, same error.

First, appologies for the lack of support so far, but please read below.
@ Darklistener
Thanks for your enquiry. A new version has been completed and will be up on the website by Tuesday.
Known Issues:
There is still a problem with some OS (mostly Non-English) and freezing of vobedit/ifoedit.
A synch issue has also arisen. Basically if a cell is long enough, it will be out of synch with the video. If your menu is static or the motion is animated, this is not a huge problem. However if your motion menu is taken straight from the movie (eg Back To The Future R2), there is a noticable delay. I believe this is more problematic with PAL sources, as NTSC sources seem to have a lot of very short cells, PAL has a few long cells.
Occasionaly the video can stutter, this again is due to a different GOP structure.
I don't think these issues are going to go away, especially synch, and stutter. This is all due to trying to use a cce m2v stream which has a different GOP structure to the original.
Fix:
At the moment I am working on a radical new approach that doesn't use Ifoedit or Vobedit. This removes any OS issues, and the synch/stutter problem. Basically its analyse the new VOB and rewrite the IFO to match, keeping the same navigational commands. So far I am about half way through. This is not like using vobedit, because the whole VOB file has to be rewritten, not remuxed to include all the menu overlays. Then the IFO rewritten to match all the new positions of the vob file.
I did consider making an SCP script for Scenarist, but all of the menu overlays would need to be created as a bmp image that scenarist would import, exactly matching the positions of the original.
The muxing will be carried out at command line, so having to avoid vobedit (which causes synch issues anyway).
This advanced release is a little way off yet, but I feel is the only way forward. So bear with me while I learn all the mechanics of a VOB file and IFO file. If this proves to be unworkable then I will have to look at the scenarist root, but initial tests look promising.
What started out as a bit of fun, and a helper for me, is becoming a full time occupation!

Has anyone tried to NuMenu gangs of new york disc 1 video_ts.vob? Region 1 NTSC. Numenu complete removes vobid 6, which is the main vob id you need to re encode to downsive the video_Ts.vob. the first 5 vob ids are very small and short, but vob id 6 is like 800 megs, and numenu just drops it. any ideas?

@ Steel
Are you stripping any languages? ie is IfoEdit called?
Zeul
Steel
26th July 2003, 15:18
No, I am not stripping any languages. VOB ID 6 is an "extra" on the dvd. Cutscenes or something like that.

26th July 2003, 15:25
@ Steel
Strange. Is cell 6 demuxed and in your demuxed_vob folder? Is it put in new_vob_id folder?
Steel
26th July 2003, 15:28
yes VOB ID 6 is demouxed.
Steel
26th July 2003, 15:34
ANother thing I've just noticed, VOB ID 6 is not listed in the menu language unit in the video_ts.ifo. Im not sure if that has anything to do with it or not. I can email you the IFO file if you'd like.

has an avs script been created?
if not open up ***.d2v file and are there any listings?
Steel
26th July 2003, 15:49
VOB ID 1 = Unknown
VOB ID 2 = FBI and Copyright notice
VOB ID 3 = Miramax Logo
VOB ID 4 = Uknown
VOB ID 5 = Parental Setting Warning
VOB ID 6 = Some sort of extra thats looks lie a preview
Steel

It goes through the whole process without any errors, and the new menu it makes is missing vob id 6 completely.

Ught oh.. found a bug in the new version
File path location - the button for IFOEdit.exe's location actually updates VOBEDit's path...
On mine, the path to IFOEdit always is showing empty w/ no way to update...
--- closing w/ the "X" so not to save I checked the reg and it's pointing correctly for both entries... I'm running a test to see if it works and is just a visual problem

The requested URL /NUMenu4U.v.1.1.0.58.exe was not found on this server.
Additionally, a 404 Not Found error was encountered while trying to use an ErrorDocument to handle the request.
:)
Link is suppose to be .60.exe I'm guessing?? (seeing how that's there)

Just installed and started the new version. It runs on my Win2k box which previously had the frozen vobedit problem, so that seems to be fixed.
[Edit] Oops, spoke too soon. It never actually finished. There's good old vobedit hanging out there with nothing to do...

I'll let you know mroe after I test more

Hi
I have tried to reencode my menu with numenu4u V. 1.1.0.60.
The demuxing und reencoding works fine.
The files in DEMUXED_MENU_VOB,FRAMESERVING,
NEW_M2V, NEW_VOB_ID seems fine.
But where the new menu should be is nothing.
So my question is: how can I rebuild the menu
with this files?
With Scenarist? If yes then how?
Can anyone help?
sry if there are spelling mistakes or something else.
I'm from germany so please excuse it :-)

you get any errors? numenu come up saying "Complete"??
If so the menu files should be in your VIDEO_TS directory
Zeul

As stated by D3s7 you're files should be in VIDEO_TS dir or further to you're previous post does NUMenu4U actually finish?

I'm having a problem re-encoding the menus from Pulp Fiction (NTSC, R1). NuM4U gets through the CCE part and then at the VobEdit step, just sits there with an empty (nothing in the filename line) Save As dialog box and stops. Doesn't freeze, just waits for a filename. Any ideas?

Hi
I tested around and i got
the same problems how kuestess got.
the other thing i didn't understand
is that i have ifoedit 0.95 on my pc
and located in numenu4u the ifoedit.exe
which is from version 0.95 but when
numenu4u opens it on the top is
written ifoedit version 0.94
any ideas?
thx :)

Is it possible to encode menu's < 25meg? I get an error message saying it must be at least 25meg.
I'm trying to convert a PAL menu to NTSC, it's only 22meg in size, and using NuMenu4U makes the conversion very easy!
Zeul
11th August 2003, 17:09
@Eldorado
I have set the minimum threshold at 25Meg ( I didn't see why anyone would want to bother re-encoding a vob of such a small size). However I hadn't considered ppl doing a format change like yourself. I will address this issue at a later date, offering to change the min demux threshold.
ps as an update on the long overdue NEW! version, progress so far is that a complete reauthor of the menu vob is now done (not a remux), which removes all synch/stutter/GOP issues. My only stumbling block is demuxing the subpics @ commandline. VSrip (the obvious choice) only works on non-menu vobs, but am working on a fix for this.
Ifoedit is to be used for reauthoring individual cells (at the moment), and as such I have written a small commandline utility to add a cli control to ifoedit (this needs a lot of testing by YOU!!) Please pm me if you would like to try the ifoedit_cli.

Well....I've been working with The Big 3 for some time now and it makes it so much easier, I really love working with them.
But now I've tried NuMenu4U and somehow I can't get it to work...(this gets complicated). I start it up and it does it's thing. It even finishes, but there's no new menu...eventhough VobEdit has Remuxed, there are no new files  anywhere.
I also learned that, because CCE (btw I'm using v2.5 crc patched for Athlon) makes a different IBP sequence, you can't remux the new m2v files.....you need to reauthore them....but there are no ac3 or wav files to be found....just demuxed m2v files and the old vob files....
And if don't close any program and continue with DoItFast4U, it still overwrites the video_ts folder.....:scared:
Since it has a very simple UI, I can't say what creates this problem.
I'm using WinXP Eng with SP1, CCE 2.5, the latest versions of The Big 3 IfoEdit and VobEdit etc.
Any thoughts anyone?

I'd read this entire post before asking my question, but apparently I missed an entire page....sorry
I read that the remuxing also bring a few problems and you're working on the problem, so I can remove that question.
But there something still not clear about the empty menu folder: I start it up and it does it's thing. It even finishes, but there's no new menu...eventhough VobEdit has Remuxed, there are no new files anywhere. On page 7 Darklistener had a simlar problem, but in his case NuMenu4U wasn't finished.
Or have I missed or misunderstood something yet again?
Zeul
16th August 2003, 15:47
@Snowface
I think this issue is caused when the vob is run through IfoEdit, but the destination path hasn't been set properly. It seems intermittent, but the new release (coming soon!) will work differently, so this won't happen.

Hi Zeul,
I have heard about NuMenu4u for a while, in fact, I did try it once when the first beta was released, but I had problems trying to get it to work at the time, so I never tried it again, but I'm still following your progress with the program.
I'm just wondering, whether am I correct in assuming that what you're trying to achieve can be done quite easily with the combination of DVDShrink and the big 3s?
If a movie has a large menu in size, what I often does is used DVDShrink to shrink down the menu and the extra, but leave the movie at 100% (for faster processing). After DVDShrink finished, I just deleted the main movie files. I then used the big 3 to reduce the main movie from the original disk. When that completed, I then used IFOUPdate and IFOEdit to update my main movie files with the rest of the movie files produced by DVDShrink and that always worked.
The only thing different I can see, is that with your program I would end up with a better quality for the menus because the menu are re-encoded with CCE.
