Upgrading from 1.1.0.4 to 1.1.0.5 I bumped into a little problem. I tried to demux 2 VTSes and at the end it didn't show me the bitrate calculations. I then checked the CCEData.txt and it was completely empty.
I downgraded back to 1.1.0.4 and it worked fine again. Did I forget to check an option in this new version or might there be a problem with the calculation part?

edit: I've found that there is a bug with the latest version where if you create VTS folders it doesnt work correctly. I'm looking for a fix now and will get a 1.1.0.6 out shortly with this fix.

hi there
v1.1.0.5
just tried on a PAL movie with deinterlace on and got the following avs script which docce crashes at:
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\DoItFast4U\mpeg2dec3.dll")
Mpeg2Source("VTS__03_P01.16~9_1.d2v")
LoadPlugin("C:\Program Files\DoItFast4U\decomb.dll")
FieldDeinterlace()te(mode=1,threshold=50)
#NODROP2öB
ResampleAudio(44100)
i have noticed that on the last few releases the ResampleAudio line always reads as:
ResampleAudio(44100)am Files\DoItFast4U\mpeg2dec3.dll")
after deleting the extra bit docce accepts it.
have tried on a NTSC film and get #NODROPBáB is this right?
also when dif4u loads the bitrate extras box reads 1750ÿÿÿÿšÌÖwÖ\Ôw and the min mb to demux is 200wÿÿÿÿšÌÖwÖ\ÔwS03
thanks

Eyes` Only,
Last night I tried out the DIF4U v1.1.0.5 and found the following:
1. The funny characters produced in .avs file is fixed.
2. AC3 Delay corrector is now working.
3. The programs still did not detected pure NTSC interlaced.
4. The uninstall.exe file in the installed directory has a missing 'l' (i.e. instal.exe). This problem existed in previous versions but I keep forgot to mention it to you.
4. The check for update version did not give you a correct file name to download, you have to manually edit the file name for it to work correctly. The file name it gives is:'DoItFast4U...exe' instead of 'DoItFast4U.v.1.1.0.5.exe'. The same problem existed in v.1.1.0.4 and v.1.1.0.3 as well
Regards.

just wait a sec guys.. d4g is testing 1.1.0.6 for me real quick, if it's ok, it'll be up within the hour.
adamandhelen: reset your avs scripts in the avs editor, and change your thresholds manually.. the problems should not resurface if you have 'save settings on exit' checked.
xitrum:
1. cool
2. groovy
3. uhhh.. it shoulda.
4. that's not a bug. that's correct. nsis installer uses uninstal.exe by default, i think. Even if it doesn't, nothing wrong with being different, eh? :D
4. (shouldn't this be 5?) i've rewritten a part of that function, just to see if i can fix it. Of course you wont be able to test it til 1.1.0.7...

Use your updater and get beta version 1.1.0.6.
Slight changes:
:p Subs are now put into separate subdirectories for every stream (BBWoof's idea to improve import speed!) <-- Start of 1.1.0.6
 Corrected CCEData.txt bug in 1.1.0.5
 Edited the web update function to fix problems with incorrect filename for new beta/final builds.
Known Issues:
New features need DVD Decrypter 3.1.5.0.
DVD2AVI still drops frames with VOBID Demux (a new attempt at a fix is coming soon!)
files outside of the VIDEO_TS folder not included in bitrate calc (feature coming soon)
Sub directories left behind even if the .sst is detected as blank and removed (fixable later)

Eyes` Only,
3. I tried on the same disc that I had problem with on the weekend and it not detected the "pure interlaced" video. It did detected it as NTSC video source and used "force film" to reduced the frame rate to 23.97fps. But the DVD I got is a Pure interlaced NTSC with no Telecine, so the frame rate should be keep at 29.97fps and the program should put the following lines in the .avs file, which it did not:
LoadPluggin ('c:\program files\DIF4U\Decomb.dll')
FieldDeinterlace()
4. If the nsis installer uses uninstal.exe by default, then in your install programs when it create the DIF4U group in the menu, the uninstall menu should be link to the "uninstal.exe" program not "uninstall.exe"
@hendrix
I did use the DIF4U v.1.1.0.5 version II

Yeah it should point to uninstal.exe. W00ps! Add/Remove programs seems to work well though.

have transfered to latest version with loads of grief.
has anyone tried to do an iso lately with the new dvddec it doesn't seem to be able to crack the decss. i have had previous version since it came out without problems.
@eyes only
is this something your aware of. if it is can you replace this version with the old one in the downloads, so us idiots who deleted the old one can have it back. what features are unavailable in dif4u when not using 3.1.5.0?
cheers
Xitrum

I did a couple of iso files using the DVDDecrypter v3.15 a couple nights ago without any problems.
Eyes`Only
17th April 2003, 07:30
The newer, faster vobid demux is the only thing so far that DVD Decrypter 3.1.5.0 is needed for, but I have included the old code so if you have 3.1.4.0 it will work still.
Light_UK is aware of the CSS issue, and he told me he has 'reverted back' to the old way DVD Decrypter did it, but I have no idea when that version will be made public (I don't even have it!)
Xitrum: I don't know what to say about that.. your .d2v has all 0's, which normally means 100% progressive. It could be possible that we can't detect pure interlacing 100% either!
OK guys, here's another fun one for ya. Use your updaters and get version 1.1.0.7.
What's new? Full support for all versions of Avisynth (2.0.7+). How does it work? At startup, DoItFast4U will autodetect your version of Avisynth, if it determines that your present AVS scripts are incorrect (ie. you've just switched from 2.0.7 to 2.5.1) it will ask you if you want to correct your scripts, and when you say yes, it will write scripts that go along with your Avisynth version. Oh and if you try to hit "Do It!" without having an Avisynth installed, you get bitched at. That should stop all the n00bs from hitting the channel asking why they can't put .avs files into CCE, eh?
A lot of research went into this. I even found and tested a modified version of the addaudio script, which allows you to preview in WMP (I think?), as well as use the .avses in both CCE 2.5 and CCE 2.66+. All required .dlls are included. I tried to make it as seamless as possible for those of you that want to try it out. If you don't, good ol' Avisynth 2.0.7 still works great!
Also new: Selection for Roba, Multipass, or One Pass methods of encoding. Why? You ask. Simple. I haven't been impressed by the results I've been seeing with the Roba method. I've attached a screenshot to illustrate my point. The top window is the Roba method, the bottom is a good ol' fashioned multipass. Notice the Q factor is lower in the bottom window (the lower the better).
Also, for those that love to take risks, I've added an 'aggressive sizing' checkbox to the calc. Using this causes the DVDCalc to up it's algorithms and try to get close to 4.37. I have no idea how well it works, or if it will cause oversizing. It's another one of my many experiments.
Oh as for the vobid stuff.. it looks like the stuff Light_UK put into DVD Decrypter for me isn't going to work for what I had planned, so I'm going to have to parse the entire .ifo myself, and that's going to take some time to code, so that's definitely not ready yet :(
As for the ability to use the other files on the DVD.. I'm still trying to think of the best way to add this.

Eyes...i downloaded 1.1.0.7 w/avisynth 2.0.8 and kept getting the
frame size 824x56 not supported error message so i replaced the decomb.dll and mpeg2dec3.dll from the DoItFast4U folder into the new.avs folder and everything worked - is this a bug or am i an idiot?:D
Eyes`Only
17th April 2003, 16:46
An idiot? Of course not! You're actually insightful for realizing the problem and a solution so quickly! My correct course of action will be to just edit the scripts to point to the mpeg2dec3.dll and decomb.dll in the root install folder (not the new.avs one). I'll put out a fix immediately!

I notice throughout the forum users report the frame size 824x56 not supported error message - that message pops up your .avs script points certain dlls and files in the wrong place

I have noticed a few things that I am not sure whether or not they have been reported in the forum or not, but here goes anyways. I am doing Southpark Season 1 Disk 3:
- the CCEData.txt file for the extras is way off. The average bitrate indicates 555988. As far as I know, that bitrate doesn't exist.
- In the DVD Structure window, for PCG's that have an audio track of 0x81 don't seem to demux at all. All the PGC's with 0x80 demux just fine. I had to go in manually into DVDDecrypter to do it and it worked.
- Slightly off the topic, but when testing DVDDecrypter vs. SmartRipper 2.41, Smartripper is 10x faster with demuxing from a local image file on the hard drive in most cases. Any explanations for this? I could see it as being as ASPI issue if it was actually directly from the DVD-ROM.
- Can anyone explain what the "Vob ID Information - DoItFast4U!.txt" file is used for?

I also noticed that beta version 1.1.0.9 is available for download. The installer version seems to show the right version, but when installed, it indicates version 1.1.0.8. Any ideas?
Eyes`Only
19th April 2003, 21:51
Hmm I'm not sure if that version is the corrected one or not!? But, since it's gonna keep buggin ya to upgrade, I've uploaded a new .exe file to the server :)
By the way, the reason for the new beta is because the calculations for bitrate in 1.1.0.8 were flawed.
rkorkie
19th April 2003, 22:02
I wouldn't say it was buggin' me, I was just checking to make sure it was the version you intended to upload. Thanx anyways, the new file seems to be right. Any ideas on my other quandries?

Found a Bug in newest Beta.
I´ve done Resident Evil with DIF4U and wnat to try your DVDCalc first time.
But if i start this, Audio sets to 2x 1ch and 2x DTS.
DTS are OK, but the 1ch are DD5.1 448 kb streams!
In the renamed Ausio streams, they also named as 1ch.
Also somethings "wrong" with the calculation.
It told me, that movie will be 570 minutes long!
I don´t know what DIF4U use for calculating, but there aren´t 570 minutes and after all, average Bitrate was 710 !
Iy you need a Logfile, I will send it to you ASAP.

Did a bunch of testing on this one myself before putting it out there for you all... I've modified the calc to get around 4.36GB when you use the Max DVDR setting in the calc (use safe for a slightly 'safer' size). Depending on how accurate the 4.36GB settings go, I could try to hit 4.37.. it's up to all of you! Personally I like having a bit of margin for error.
Use your updaters and get version 1.1.0.10.
Changes:
 Fixed a memory leak with AVIFILEINFO.
:p All NTSC .AVS scripts that do not need pulldown run after encoding now have 'nopull' automatically added to them.
:p PGC Demux with 'all angles' only demuxes audio for first angle now (subsequent angles use the same audio/sub streams)
:p PGC Demux with 'all angles' skips subs demux for angles > 1.
 Added "Empty Directories before Demuxing" option to menu.
 Detects and correctly demuxes MP2 audio streams now.
 Fixed uninstall bug where right click explorer shortcut wasn't being unstalled from the registry.
:p User is now prompted to create directory when starting DoItFast4U if the last working directory doesn't exist.
 Audiostream list now shows number of channels per stream and whether it's 'Director Commentary' or the like.
Note: due to a weird 'bug' in the previous version, it's possible AVS scripts could be messed up if you switched Avisynth versions, hitting the 'reset avs script' in the prior versions or this new one will fix it though.
fourtyfour: I haven't investigated your Res Evil issue much yet, I will soon.

Everyone,
I want to try to get to the bottom of the PAL TFF/BFF detection issue. If you are an advanced user, and KNOW you have an .m2v that is BFF, please contact me via EFNet or email, and lets make arrangements to get me a copy of your .m2v (just the first 5-30 megs please) so I can do some advanced diagnostics on it. I can do file transfers via IRC, ICQ, and/or MSN Messenger. Thanks!

I'll send the samples as well to BBWoof, 'cause he might be also interested.
But do you think, it's really worth the effort? I mean some users had very nice results by using FieldDeinterlace and the speed-drop should not be that bad...

Well in that regard, if I can detect BFF hopefully I can detect interlacing and then I'll be able to automate the deinterlacing lines for PAL also! Right now users have to manually do that, because of the detection limitations we face.

I think there is a problem with that latest beta version using the batch Pulldown option. When running it, DoItFast4u hangs, then crashes with a windows error in the DoPull GUI. It doesn't make it past the first file. Although the pulldown does complete, the original mpv file does not get deleted obviously. I never had this error in previous versions. Has anyone else had this before?

Actually, the windows error is "DoItGUI MFC", if that helps to clarify anything.

Yesterday I took the time to do some testing with DIF4U 1.1.0c.
It's a great tool, I'm very impressed!
I tested it with a Season DVD (Ally McBeal). The Disc contains two Titlesets.
First one has three PGCs, which are the three episodes, second Titleset is very small, it's just this "FOX Trailer".
I wanted to keep english and german languages and subtitles and leave the spanish language out.
DIF4U creates for every Subtitle Language I checked a dummy sst and a dummy jpeg for every PGC. Eh....why?
Reencoding with DoCCE4U worked very well for me (after some registry editing, but that's another story :D ).
After Authoring I ran IfoUpdate as described in the doitfast-Guide at Doom9.
Cinemaster doesn't play the "result" at all, when I try opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO.
When I open the VIDEO_TS.IFO in IfoEdit and hit "DVDPlay" it starts normally with the FOX Logo. After that the german Menu appears for two seconds and then it becomes black. Somehow funny the buttons are still there "in the darkness" and are clickable
I gave Authoring a second shot, using an audio-dummy (from doitfast-guide@doom9) as placeholder for the left out spanish language, but that made no difference.
Any ideas?

My testing with an Ally McBeal R2 Season DVD went successfull now.
I still have problems playing it with Cinemaster and the DVDPlay Function in IfoEdit when opening the VIDEO_TS.IFO (Menu becomes black after a few seconds, but buttons are clickable and highlighted when moving the mouse over). I think it's time for me to try another Software Player....
Burning:
From experiences in the past I knew that RNM stops at once the burning process (although it gives you no details, saying just "Data Terminated with Errors" or something like that), when it recognizes that something's wrong with the structure of the DVD, but that didn't happen :)
And in my SA (Pio 444) it all works like a charme :D
BTW: the Dummy Subs that were created, were from ReAuthorist and not from DIF4U...I think they were created, 'cause my selected substreams had the IDs 21 and 22 and so a dummy was created in order to do do not leave Substream-ID 20 empty. I just set it manually to the same language as in the original IFO (Dansk) in Scenarist after Importing the Script.
Now that I saw how all is working together, I'm deeply impressed. Keep up the fantastic work you guys!

absolutely not one iota of code has changed since 1.1.0c til now in that pulldown function. I'm guessing you have a corrupt mpv, or you're running out of disk space? That's the only 2 times I've seen anything like that occur!
69Mws: glad to hear you're having better success with the new versions. The version you are now using now is very close to what will be 1.1.1. Enjoy!

I will check the disk space issue out. I know it's not a corrupted mpv file cause they all do work in the pulldown. Does your application check ahead for the next mpv to pulldown and then check for disk space, and if it finds there will be not enough, it produces that crash? Cause yes, you are right, I am typical on the fringe of the amount of disk space I need to this stuff, but I make sure there is always enough for at least 1 pulldown...

As I showed you on the menu, it only works with RA 0.6.0.7+. It will require no configuring, working off registry settings with RA's new installer. Hopefully Aqua gives it to all of you soon.
(Even if you were to tweak the registry where DIF4U looks for the location, it would do no good because pre-0.6.0.7 versions don't have CLI support so they wouldn't auto-set the working directory.)
hmm I should fix that DoCCE4U not installed eh? That'll teach me to copy/paste functions!
Interesting thing when trying to rip the matrix region 1.
When demuxing by VOBID it gets caught in a loop on VTS2. It shows "Demuxing VobID (FIRST PASS) using DVD Decrypter 3.1.6.0"
when that's done it vobsubs a few PGC's then clears the log window and starts over demuxing.....
I left it go and it did it probably about 30 times before I aborted
any thoughts?
It from the new DVD Decrypter?
- D3s7
hrm...
think I figured it out... who woulda known that there was like 50 vobid's :)
the way the log window clears is a little wierd though... and still shows Demuxing VobId (FIRST PASS) <-- I take it FIRST PASS = vobid it's currently working on.... it shows which VOBID it's working on when it's vobsub'n

In 1.1.0.14, something seems to be wrong with the latest version of vobsub that Gabest sent me, it is not putting 3 lines in the .sst that need to be there.
The lines that are missing are:
PA (0 0 255 - - - )
E1 (255 0 0 - - - )
E2 (0 0 0 - - - )
BG (255 255 255 - - - )
I'll be releasing a fixed version soon, as soon as I can get a hold of Gabest!

OK, I've uploaded 1.1.0.15.
Changes are in the changelog. The vobsubbing has been fixed.
For those of you that downloaded 1.1.0.15 within the first hour it was released, you will need to re-download it at http://doitfast4u.doom9.org/DoItFast4U.v.1.1.0.15.exe, as the new vobsub version wasn't in that installer. I've replaced it on the site, so new downloads will be correct.
Contact me if you have problems.
Oh I spent a good 24 hours working on a new help file. Give it a looksee. Help>DoItFast4U Help...
Don't know if someone already mentioned this little "bug":
When a checked (for Demuxing) Titleset contains a PGC with zero playtime (00:00:00....), DVD Decrypter won't process it, but it also doesn't skip it.
Instead you are prompted to choose another PGC. After choosing the next PGC, the process goes on as usual 'til the end.
I had this issue in german RC2 of "Atlantis 2" (VTS 09, PGC 02).
