Ok here´s my report.
Something is wrong with subtitles split by VobID.
this is was IFOEdit says.
english 0x20,0x21
german 0x22,0x23
german 0x26,0x27
english 0x24,0x25
english 0x28,0x29
german 0x2a,0x2b
this is was DIF4U says:
english 0x20
german 0x21
german 0x22
english 0x23
english 0x24
german 0x25
But this is was comes out after DIF4U in subs:
VTS_01_VSUB_V01-00-English.sst
VTS_01_VSUB_V01-01-English.sst
VTS_01_VSUB_V01-02-Deutsch.sst
VTS_01_VSUB_V01-03-Deutsch.sst
VTS_01_VSUB_V01-04-English.sst
VTS_01_VSUB_V01-05-English.sst
the *.bmp files are still english if english in filename and german if german in filename.
Do you see what´s going wrong with this movie?

crap! I see the problem. I'll try to have it fixed in the next beta.

OK, now I didn't realize just how tricky it can be to detect subs!
Here's another beta, where I've at least gotten closer to crackin it! Let me know how it goes.
Changes:
 Added option to check for updates on the web (final and betas)!
:scared: Subs now detected more accurately.
:scared: Trailing '\\' character is eliminated from Working Directory, avoiding '\\\' in CCEData.txt paths.
 Progress bar and new percentage display now accurate while creating VIDEO_TS folder.
Beta testers: Make sure to turn your auto web update on!
http://doitfast4u.doom9.org/DoItFast4U.v.1.1.0.2.exe
edit: No guarantee that subs are correct still, but I'm trying to get them perfect, bit by bit. I've redone almost all the code for subs to compensate for multiple streams per track, so this is very BETA.
d4g: No idea. The latest betas definitely have ifoedit 0.95 in them.

Try this, set up DoitFast4u to rip your movie, hit the Do It button, let DVD Decryptor load up and start ripping the movie.. then hit cancel.
DoitFast4U is now stuck, can't be closed and the program window is blank except for the green progress bar at the bottom which keeps flashing.. right clicking on the program on the task bar doesn't bring anything up, and I'm using a remote program to access my computer, so can't send a ctrl-alt-del right now :)
I have the autodetect video type checked if that matters at all, maybe that's what it's trying to do even tho I've cancelled and told DVD Decryptor to delete the incomplete files?

Report:
DIF4U and *.sst output are exact the same. :)
Good Job Eyes´Only (couldn´t say it often enough :) )
a little bit offtopic:
Do you know why 2 subtitle (like: ID 0x20,0x21 in IFOEdit are subtitle number 1) "merged" to 1?
0x20 is for wide ; 0x21 is for letterbox.
If I set L and W in Scenarist, one subtitle each should be ok?
A wide subtitle stream should be able to use as a letterbox one?
About Vobsub in DIF4U:
If testet Subtitle output with a 42 Seconds PGC with subtitle.
VobSub worked 10 Minutes for a 42 Second Track!

So here´s my question:
How does VobSub work?
Is it possible to create the *.idx for whole movie only without extracting subtitle?
Or is the create-time of *.idx responsible for this long duration?
So with this *.IDX, I can use this file for fast extracting subtitle with SubRip 1.14 (newer versions makes a lot confusing subtitles)
and have a fast solution for the subtitle timecode.
Without the IDX, SubRip are slow, too
@ d4g_
look at this or the other DIF4U thread:
I linked a thread from doom9.org where exactly talked about the IFOEdit "bug". There is also a solution available in this thread.
ok i did one movie with vobid and the calc was out around 400 megabytes..... does anyone know how to calculate exactly when doing it by vobid
thznx D4g
ok i clicked all angles on my dvd but the movie doesnt have angles but what happens is when dvd decrypter gets to the end it stop and say cant rename file for some reason and im using iso image to do the ripping with
but when i click all angles off then it processes it all with no problems......
why does it holt on the renaming part i noticed other people having the same problem but i just cant fix mine ....
thanx

why does it holt on the renaming part i noticed other people having the same problem but i just cant fix mine ....
Hmm.. I'll try to explain it in easy terms to understand:
When you click the angle button, DIF4U sends a command to DVDDEC saying 'do angle 1'. DVDDEC says 'what? no angle is here.. guess I'll just do it normally...' and proceeds to demux it normally. Now, second pass, DIF4U says 'do angle 2'. Now, if this disc really had angles, it would do 2,3,4 and so on until there were no more angles. DIF4U detects no more angles by DVDDEC coming back without demuxing anything. Well... when there are no angles, and DIF4U says 'do angle 2', DVD says 'what? still no angles here.. guess I'll just do it normally again', and rips the exact same streams, resulting in the error when it tries to rename, because the file already exists. (Renaming errors from DVDDEC are caused by it trying to append the delay of audio files onto the filename).
Now, luckily, I've watched for weirdness like this, and I have DIF4U only try this pass twice, before moving on. If I just let it go without checking to see if a user had used angles when there wasn't any, it would loop over and over again, see?
If I set L and W in Scenarist, one subtitle each should be ok?
A wide subtitle stream should be able to use as a letterbox one?Yes.
About the vobsub question, it isnt possible to demux the sub with 100% accuracy any other way but starting at the beginning and going til the end, according to Gabest, because vobids flipflop, and the video isn't as continuous as you may think.
DoitFast4U is now stuck, can't be closed and the program window is blank except for the green progress bar at the bottom which keeps flashing.. right clicking on the program on the task bar doesn't bring anything up, and I'm using a remote program to access my computer, so can't send a ctrl-alt-del right now
No idea. I'm assuming it works for everyone else? No other reports have claimed otherwise.

All right. If it not work another way, I have to do this manually for special movies like EP2.
Thanks for explanation.
About the freeze bug:
I uses DIF4U since Eyes´Only released the first version.
And I never had any problems like these.
About split by VobID:
Why does DIF4U split 1 Angle only by VobID?
I have a structure like this:
PGC1:
Angle 1 (uses VobID 1,2,4,5)
Angle 2 (uses VobID 1,3,4,5)
PGC2
VobID 6
PGC3
VobID 7
.
.
About the Angle:
I think DVDDecrypter does a "wrong" job for split by VobID if a movie have Multiangle.
If I want to rip a movie by VobID, I must select Angle 1 or Angle 2 .
I get only 1,2,4,5,6... or 1,3,4,5,6...
It takes a lot of freespace on HDD that will not be used everytime, cause VobID 1,4,5,6... are still on HDD with another name (Angle1/Angle2)
Maybe a rename processing could be a small solution.
like:
VTS01_VobID_1.vob
VTS01_VobID_2.vob
VTS01_VobID_3.vob
(rename after first run of DIF4U)
instead of
VTS01_Angle1_VobID_1.vob
VTS01_Angle1_VobID_3.vob
VTS01_Angle2_VobID_1.vob
VTS01_Angle2_VobID_2.vob
So DVDDecrypter will ask if any VobID should be overwritten in second run of DIF4U.
I can select no and DVDDec doesn´t decrypt this VobID again. :)
=>I don´t need double size of HDD for this.
What do you think about it?
Eyes`Only
3rd April 2003, 17:51
What do I think? There shouldn't be angle numbers in the filename for vobid demux. You should be able to click all angles and it demuxes and gets rid of the angle in the filename already. That's the way I designed it. I'll look into it.

Yes, it works.
Hm, something was wrong with my last testings.
Sorry for making trouble for nothing (shame on me)
I had some "couldn´t rename Audio cause file already existing..." with split by VobID. (with the Angle 2 audio streams)
After cancel these popups from DVDDec no probs at all. (without vobSUB)
If I should mail or paste the Log, let me know.
BTW: thanks for Audio delay correction to you and the author of AC3 Delay Corrector, too. Looks very nice :)

d4g:
ehm, what has CCE freezing to do with DIF4U?
Did you used the CCE Data with DoCCE4U or just import the *.avs into CCE and start encoding?
I think it´s more about a problem of your system and doesn´t have anything to do with DIF4U. ;)
Eyes: I´ll check it once more and send you the log file if it still there.
thats doesnt answer my question whe i do pgc with the cce txt file all encodes are fine but as soon as i do it with vob id it freezes on the main movie of a vobid thats doesnt make sense does it....when there oly different files names so it should encode both files even if one is v01 or po1 thats wht i dont understand.....
im going to try to prioretize the docce 4 u to high and maybe it will fix the prob but apart from that i have no clue coz its not system if pgc titles are fine but splitting by vob id it freezes
does anyone else have tis prob or just me and im a pal user
this is my ccetxt file from dfu notice that it has no average bitrate its 0 on teh ones i did by vobid

That´s the same with my files.
You only have to do a calculation manual.
I uses Powerbit for calculating every Bitrate for DVD.
The tool is selfdescribing.
take the duration of the whole movie with audio and so on and calculate.
Then set the avg. bitrate in every loaded VobID.avs (in CCE direct or in DoCCE4U)
BTW: Please use points in your posts.
That´s really hard to read your sum of words without points. :)
one more question i have does it rip your subs when u ripp by vobid
for me it doesnt and now im trying to work out why?
im going to try an earlier release of doitfast4u and see if it does then

OK everyone,
As you all know, the new version of DVD Decrypter is out.
What you may not know is that behind the scenes, Light_UK and I have been working to add powerful new features that will make DoItFast4U! a more pleasant experience!
For starters:
All of the AC3 bugs should be fixed (bad headers which demuxing by vobid, etc.)!
All of the vobid errors that were being seen when using DoItFast4U in vobid demux mode (could not overwrite blahblah because the vobid was split in the middle of the pgc) are now fixed!
Well.. basically.. any error that was reported to me and was a "DVD Decrypter fault" were corrected!
Now onto the new:
Light_UK has added switches and modes that now enable DoItFast4U to work even more efficiently, and will save lots of time, effort, and troubles (probably creating new troubles along the way, but hey that's what I live for, right?)
To kick off the action, I now present to you my latest beta. What's so new about this beta you ask?
VOBID Demux can now be done in ONE PASS!
What? Did you hear me correctly? Yes, you did. Using the new file mode available and splitting by VOBID, the video and audio are now demuxed in ONE PASS. (The subs still take a bit, but I've got good news on that too). :D
I did work with Gabest today on getting the subs demuxing working properly with the new one pass video/audio demux. The sub demux still goes by PGC though.. we'll see what we can do about that in the future. However, Gabest has increased the sub demux by incredible amounts, also!
This is a major breakthrough in the whole scheme of things. To give you an example of the speed increase these two ‘improvements’ have made:
Test Computer: Asus p4t-e, p4-2ghz-cpu, 1GB RAMBUS 800
DVD Disc: Matrix R2
Mode: ISO MOUNT
Demux by: VOBID
Demux what: VTS02, video, all audio, all subs (including processing and converting to .sst!)
Start time: 16:07.51
End time: 16:47:42
A total of 40 minutes! This is from the minute I hit “Do It”, until I got the “Completed” dialog box. That includes video/audio demux, sub demux, sub processing, d2v creation, and AVS creation. Nice, eh? This used to take anywhere from 6 to 10 hours!
Is this the final way of DoItFast4U! VOBID demux? Nope, not even close. Light_UK and I also worked out a way for me to do an experimental VOBID demux where you can CCE and the result will be the exact m2v (no dropped frames). It's not implemented yet, but the functionality I needed with DVDDEC is now there, and I will be adding this and testing it here shortly. For now, this will have to do.
So without further ado...
Use your updater and get beta version 1.1.0.4.
Changes:
:p VOBID demux now does one pass for video/audio
:p VOBID now works with Calculations
:p Vobsub speed DRAMATICALLY increased!
 Fixed bug where if one PGC had no audio, the rest of the PGCs were never sub demuxed, and sub processing never occurred.
 Added new icons to UI
 Log window enlarged for easier viewing
 Global Options>Other Options replaces Audio Options, now giving you access to three thresholds
1. Encoding Theshold
2. Vobsub Threshold
3. Main VTS Proximity Threshold
 Default AVS now uses Decimate(mode=1,threshold=50) for better output. (use 'reset to default' button in the AVS Editor to autochange it to this)
Known Issues:
New features need DVD Decrypter 3.1.5.0.
PCM Demux is currently disabled. :(

I have to do more test with more-features-DVDs. :D

Another bit of weird news for all you 1.1.0.4 testers out there..
I did a test using Harry Potter 2 R1 Disc 1
As some of you may have noticed, I changed the algorithms for dvdr sizing in DIF4U in 1.1.0.4. One of the reasons it wasnt more accurate before was because I was rounding up on decimal places, thanks to Aqua's quick lesson on how to use the AVI API (thanks!) I decided to use the sizes to as many floating point decimal places as I could.
Here's the result:
Ending size of project: 4,703,557,632 bytes.
That's 759k from max size of a dvdr! I've never seen more accuracy in an automated program in my life! heh
I'm a little scared of this accuracy, as it doesn't give much margin for error, so I need some feedback on what others are seeing also, please!
(Note: I had the calc set for DVD-r max size, not 'safe'.)
Thanks!

Here's a bug I found...
My internet connection was disabled and when I started Doitfast4u with the "Check for updates" set to "on", it pretty much crashed. I had to manually go into the registry to change the value back so it didn't check the internet. Otherwise, I had to CTRL+ALT+DEL but if I didn't know to go into the registry it wouldn't have worked at all.
Thanks for a great program!

hehe Eyes, so true I should have reported my weird bug about 'disappearing subs' here rather than PM.
Sorry for this, I just wanna avoid 10000 people laughing at you at the same time :p :p
But I must now go for it since I've got some (bad) news about it.
As a reminder for you (and first time information for the others) the bug was the following :
DVD Mulholland Drive R1
happens with VTS 07, 5 PGC, movie in PGC1, dummy PGCs 2 to 5
Select VTS07 only.
Select Audio 0x80 English
Check Vosub All PGC
Deselect Audio 0x81 french and Audio 0x89 DTS English
Deselect sub streams 0x20, 0x21 English
Select sub streams 0x22, 0x23 French
Now if I click on VTS07 in the DVD structure window (or on any PGC included in VTS07) , all sub streams simply disappear from the subtitle streams window. They will never reappear after that and no sub will be extracted at all. If I don't deselect any subtitle stream at the beginning, then this bug does not appear and sub are always present in the subtitle streams window. It seems if you deselect the first sub streams but want to keep the other ones, the bug occurs.
Now, here is what I found : subtitles were NEVER extracted, no matter if the subs disappeared or not from the "subtitle window".
No subs, no idx file, nothing.
This is really weird.
Did anybody experience the same paranormal phenomenon ?

Hi,
I'm not sure whether this is a bug with the beta version of DIF4U v1.1.0.4 or something that I did wrong. I was trying to search this thread to see if anyone reported the same problem that I'm having, but can't find a post that mention the problem.
On the weekend I was trying to test out the new version, everything is fine except that the .avs file produced contained funny characters, here is a copy of what I got in the .avs file:
.;Ôw
Mpeg2Source("VTS__04_P01.4~3_1.d2v")
.;Ôw
.;Ôw
Also, I put a tick against the option "Autocorrect AC3 delay" but nothing seemed to be done with the AC3 delay in the audio tracks.
Also I just wanted to ask Eyes` Only that whether the algorithm for the pulldown utility had been modified at all? The reason why I asked that is because I normally use DIF4U on PAL movies only and these doesn't need to use pulldown. However, on the weekend I tried to backup an NTSC movie and need to used this utility after CCE. The re-encoded video stream looked OK when replayed, but after using pulldown, I noticed that the video often has jagged egdes when there are sudden movements such as people started to dance or a car suddenly take off.
My last NTSC backup was about 3 months ago, and I did not recall seeing this problem at all. Intially, I thought maybe I did not allocated enough bit rates to the stream, but doesn't matter how much bit rates I allocated, even when the re-encoded video stream size is bigger than the original, I still have the same problem. So I went back and examined the resultant video before the pulldown and after the pulldown process and notice the differences after the pulldown.
I was not sure which version of DIF4U I used 3 months ago, as there has been a lot of upgrades since.
Regards and thanx for the great tool.

Whew I threw a house party and now I'm recovering from alcohol, but I thought I'd attempt to catch up on the latest comments...
Waldok: your subs problem is wild. I guess I will have to obtain that DVD soon and find that issue. It is possible that a memory issue was causing that.. in my 1.1.0.5 I've corrected an issue which my debugger was screaming about (analyzing a no-cce m2v for length causes AVI API to freak out!) which was causing memory issues. So after I put 1.1.0.5 out there, let's see if it still happens.
Xitrum: Yes, I noticed that the Autocorrect AC3 delay menu item is being ignored, and fixed that. I think I've corrected the code that would cause that AVS issue with a fresh install also, these changes will also be in 1.1.0.5. Badness did have the correct info on how to repair your AVS scripts though, I'm glad I had the foresight to include that button!
Verbal: It amazes me too :D Thanks.
Oh and the web update crash when not connected to the internet will be fixed in 1.0.0.5, so you guys can just leave it set to 'on' all the time once it's out.
If i can think straight enough to finish my changes (I think eating will help...), I'll probably get this out to you guys soon!

Couple things:
1) Found w/ 1.1.0.4 - even if I deselect all Subs it still running vobsub but resulting in a very small .scc file in the subs dir (kinda defeats unselecting them if it's gunna run the process anyway :D )
2) have a dvd that it marked as "Irregular DVD (Multiple Main VTSes)" but still only selected one as (MAIN) - rip still calculates the bitrates a the "main" rate for both.. just a visual thing
3) Said it in an email but I'll post it in case anyone else is thinking it. DVD's w/ more then just the VIDEO_TS folder - IE PC files. Current doesn't look at those - thus throwing off the bitrate calculations a little. If you could include these in part of the rip (not sure how easy it would be.. maybe a box to include XXX bytes extra as an alternative and let the user manually copy)
4) Anyone look at automatting the last step in the whole process.. we have DIF4U for rip / initial - DCCE4U for encoding - ReAuthorist for putting the structure back together but missing last step of mixing and IFOUpdate'n new files...

I've thought about it, but the process is kind of variable.. sometimes you should check the copy ac3 table, othertimes not, etc.
So a User Interface to automate this would have to be more complex than just a 'copy' button, you'd have to be able to select/deselect what you want to use in ifoupdate for each .ifo. I think we'll have something like this soon though.

Eye` Only,
Thanks for fixing up the AC3 delay and the .avs file in the next release.
I figured out the other problems with jagged edges last night. The NTSC source I used was pure Interlaced NTSC with no telecine. However, your program DIF4U did not detected it. Initially, I thought the funny characters produced in the .avs file supposed to take care of the interlaced video. However, last night I ran it again and I notice that DIF4U first ran DVD2AVI at 29.97fps, after that it ran DVD2AVI using force FILM and the frame rate was at 23.97fps. Whereas, it should leave it at 29.97fps and add the decomb.dll and Deinterlace script in the .avs file.
Just want to let you know, as there might be some bugs in the NTSC Video detection algorithm.

I think it actually DID detect it, it just used the wrong script. I found this bug a couple days ago and it's also fixed in 1.1.0.5 :D

Eyes` Only,
That's great, I'll test it again when v.1.1.0.5 is available.

Special thanks to Daniel, the author of AC3 Delay Corrector. By using the technical specs I supplied to him about DTS, he's supplied me with a way to correct DTS Delay now, as well as AC3. This is a beta feature, please report back success/failures with it so we know if it's good or not.
Use your updater and get beta version 1.1.0.5. Edit: removed. 1.1.0.6 will be up soon.
Revision History included in Help menu. Lots of changes!
Known Issues:
New features need DVD Decrypter 3.1.5.0.
DVD2AVI still drops frames with VOBID Demux (a new attempt at a fix is coming soon!)
files outside of the VIDEO_TS folder not included in bitrate calc (feature coming soon)

D3s7: cc should not have been demuxed unless you had "cc" checked, in which case vobsub is used to get the cc data.
Xitrum: Please tell me if the correct script is being used for pure interlaced now.
