First of all thanks for this great prog :)
With the new release the window height is too small - see attached pic.

@Sunhillow: Well, you shouldn't change the default fint size in the desktop settings.

Thank you, that's it!
btw: using "large fonts" worked with 1.0.9
Default is "small fonts" which actually looks quite tiny. :scared:

I haven't read through all 156 post so if someone posted this already don't shoot me.
I noticed a small change/potential bug in the way DVD2SVCD RC2 handles the Anilyzing video if you forgot to have DVD ripping checked when you first selected the IFO.
Previously if you selected the IFO and didn't have ripping checked the popup would ask you if you wanted it to be as a warning, then you would go and check DVD ripping, return to the Conversion page and it would continue onto analyzing the video as normal.
Now it just stalls at the last stage and does not continue to analyze the video. You have to select the IFO all over again.
Not a real big deal, but wanted to point it out just incase this was not intended to work this way.
Mark
edit: It now seems to happen whenever you change out of the Conversion tab. You must get the IFO again regardless of whether it already analyzed the video or not.

Hello!
First of all: this tool really is a great piece of work, thank you very much.
Testing this version i noticed two things:
1)As I experimented around in the frame selection window, the movie suddenly began to run reverse in slow motion (in stop modus), and when i pressed play, it run forward, but stuttering. This went on till the program hang up and i had to close it with the task manager.
But I am sorry, i really cant remember what i did before that, so i guess it won´t be much help for you, dvd2svcd.
2)(quite unimportant, i don´t know if you even call it a bug):
As i installed the bundle, i have chosen a cd - rom drive for the installation - folder (error of mine), and win XP gave me an I/O - error.
greetings, winxi

aloha,
well, I just modified the dvd2svcd subtitles file.ini to remove one of the subtitles streams (I removed the english and kept only the spanish one) and now DVD2SVCD goes on and creates the image .cue/.bin files. SO looks like the bug is what I guessed before, due to the lack of a blank space before the -s1 option...
Hope that helps :D

@Fmazzanti: Yes, I confirmed that in an earlier post/reply to you (albeit it was and edited post) ;) Bug found and squashed.

EDIT:
On retrospect I now see what is wrong. You need a very important line in the script namely AddBorders(0,^TopBorder,0,^BottomBorder) so it is no wonder that it didn't perform as expected on the standalone.
Ok. That was it. I'm posting the latest version of the Temporal Smoother script and I'll add it also to the "avisynth script database for d2s" sticky. You might consider substituting it with the one you have in the Readme.txt (I'm including the differences in Italic/Black fonts):
[AVISYNTH_BicubicResize-TemporalSmoother]
0=LoadPlugin(!MPEG2DEC2.dll)
1=BicubicResize(^TargetWidth,^TargetHeight,^b_value,^c_value)
2=AddBorders(0,^BorderTop,0,^BorderBottom)
3=TemporalSmoother(^Strength,^Radius)
!MPEG2DEC2.dll=F:\Program Files\DVD2SVCD\MPEG2Dec\MPEG2DEC2.dll
^b_value=0.0
^c_value=0.6
^Strength=2
^Radius=1
Thanks again.

I posted the bug in a single thread. It was refering to 109b3.
I am not sure but I think that I ran a Star Trek episode on auto some time ago with 109b3, with horrible results: Strobe effects - wrong field order. It could be, that I interrupted the process once and recovered it, which would explain the failure, wouldn't it? As a result of the failure, I used B. Since B never failed so far, I leave it on B to begin with.
If you tell me which version should not have this bug anymore, I will happily test it because season 3 just arrived...:)
But I would have to know, which version is recoverable incl. field order.

I did a conversion of 'Dinosaurs' with two audio-streams and three subtitle-streams.
The resulting SVCD had two audio, but no subs.
Multiplexing and cutting finished.

Anybody knows why winsubmux doesn't work anymore in my case?
dvd2svcd
24th October 2002, 16:22
@labersack: Maybe because the stream starts at stream 1 instead of stream 0, otherwise try mailing new_age if you still have some test data. New_age have been very helpfull with winsubmux in the past.

Yes, I only uses stream 0 for 'alien subs', because my player shows them without being asked, so I have to unselected all the time if I don't want to see it. Most time I watch without subs, so I want to show nothing if I don't select one.
btw: in Version 1.0.9build3 winsubmux did the job, only in the beta there were problems.

Untill now I did not, but I will let it run this night with 109b3.
With 110R2 three DVDs didn't had subs (Dinosaur, Lady and Tramp 2, Star Trek IV, all Pal R2), and at least two of them are 'repaired' by doing a CrashRecovery with submux, the third I try at the moment.
Will post the results tomorow.

Hmm, I wonder if it's because I do all 3 subs in one run instead of 3 runs (like submux does).
pacohaas
25th October 2002, 00:01
submux should be able to mux all 3 at once as well, correct?
Also, maybe this has something to do with it:
Muxing Deutsch subtitles, CD 1
Muxing Deutsch subtitles, CD 1
Muxing English subtitles, CD 1
Muxing Deutsch subtitles, CD 1
Executing SubMux. Commandline: on all the other cd's there are only the first 3 "Muxing" announcements.

DVD2SVCD -
Sorry by the delay.
About the chapters don't work in MPEG1 with TMPGEnc, I and KWAG can't make the chapters. I'm sending you the requested file.

On the face the xml seems to be perfect, maybe your player doesn't support chapters in VCD's ? Did you try PowerDVD? Anyway, I'll try it out.

Also, maybe this has something to do with it:
on all the other cd's there are only the first 3 "Muxing" announcements. Nope, that's just what's written in the log, the important thing is the commandline which is being executed. Afaik the only difference between 1.0.9 and 1.1.0 is that winsubmux is only run once per cd in the latter. That's why I'm suspecious about it.

:confused: I haven't been able to make chapters with 4 movies now.
They are all NTSC. I've tried on two different machines. Both Windows XP Prof. Are yours PAL ?

With 110R2 three DVDs didn't had subs (Dinosaur, Lady and Tramp 2, Star Trek IV, all Pal R2), and at least two of them are 'repaired' by doing a CrashRecovery with submux, the third I try at the moment.
Will post the results tomorow. I think I have found the bug. Take a look here:

No. I burned with VCDEasy. But I did mount the image with Daemon tools, and there were no chapters. Tested with WinDVD. Just two chapters. Your logo ( Default title picture. Chapter 1 ) and the movie ( Chapter 2 ).
I had set VCDXBuild with movie info ( IMDB ) and everything, and the chapters were indeed in the file "dvd2svcd chapters file.ini", but they never get to the .bin image.

Weird, because I can see in the XML from Funil99 that the chapters are in the xml file, and so they should be in the bin too. I'm sorry but I'm lost here.

The conversion with 109b3 is finsished, and chapters with submux are working on stream 1,2,3; strem 0 is empty as I want to have it.
I've seen you screenshot. Is iit possible to make SVCD and CVD subs at the same disk? I ask because in my disk there were also no subs at stream 2 and 3.
Right now I'm trying a conversion with 110R2 and submux, but this time with sub-stream 0,1,2. Will post the result later this day (It's a short movie of 77 min, so I do CBR).
@DVD2SVCD: do you still want to have the .ini? I've deleted it, but I can set all to the used values and send the new one to you.

I was just about to try my first 5.1 audio encode.
I installed I-Author, etc...
When I went to laod the IFO an error pop up came and went so quickly I couldn't read what it said. The error did have an OK button to push, but didn't wait for an input.
I think I know the reason for the error. I just wanted to report the way the error pop-up was acting.
edit: wierd. I just tried it again and this time the error message stayed until I hit ok. It was the one about the bitrate being beyond what I-Author could handle.

i wanted to encode Simpsons Full DVD set 2nd Season:
VCD 1150 Video/224 Audio,CCE CBR -> got ~0,45 speed max.
it turned out that my DVD Player (Toshiba SD220E) only played the sound but no picture ..
so i changed to RC3 and chose also VCD Template in the frameserver tab
hell i get now encoding speed of ~0,7+ .. :D:D (on a P-III,512RAM)
i will check if mpeg2 speed was increased also
thank you dvd2svcd

Hi DVD2SVCD,
Could you double check the CQ file size prediction if possible. I got a movie that even though the settings on bit rate are all set to 1 CD and 800MB, I got two .bin files. The second being ~8MB in size. On the other hand, another movie came out to a single ~750MB .bin file. Using the formula that's now integrated in FitCD, the same movie came out to ~-4MB offset from 800MB( the muxed audio/video mpeg file ). I just got an E-Mail from a user with the same result, and another user posted here: http://kvcd.net/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1512&sid=f31a59b99114d9e038470e326ff68f8d
This is using 24 frames per spread(sample) and a spread resolution of 100 snapshots.
Thanks,

Well, I just started the first test run on an episode...
Here is what I observed when preparing the Interface for the first run:
1. Audio Tab and Conversion Data Tab still don't correspond.
2. When choosing "Keep Interlaced", none of the relevant fields in the advanced options actually change. This may be irritating to users, like me...
3. Message: "Drive is type 1 (no DVD drive)" certainly doesn't raise confidence...
4. The setting for Interlaced resize got me a little confused here! When do I need that? Allways? Looked like it was just a simple resize?
Well, I'll know more in two hours...
Well, perhaps a check for valid pathnames could be done. I made a typo d:/abc which only poped up during conversion time.

1. Yes they do.
2. No ofcourse not, I don't change the users default settings. That would irritate even more users. I handle it internally.
3. Don't get you, what message are you talking about?
4. Interlaced resize is only used if you want 4:3 with added borders (don't use "keep interlaced")

1. No they don't. (Do you want the long or the short argument? :D )
Well, at what stage exactly are they to match? I uninstalled 109b3 before I installed the RC3 bundle. So I basically started from scratch. I had to tell the audio tab, that I wanted german as first language and english as second. After I returned to the encode tab, it was still set for english as first and only language.
2. Results from my encode confirm this.
3. It is the second line in the Log-Tab, the first line is about WNASPI.dll
As a side observation, this version produces a read error from DVD when the DVD wasn't opened with a dvdplayer first. 109b3 worked from scratch.
4. Perhaps this did not cross my way yet. Where can I read up on it?
After action report...
My first test halted et encode time, because I made a typo d:/svcd instead of D:\. It wasn't really possible to clean the system of that typo. Recovering, followed from a change of main directory to d:\svcd did not stop the input stage of cce to enter the wrong path name. I manually edited the input.
The task finished, but the SVCD had no chapters, which was aparent at the vcdxbuild stage, when only one chapter was to be created.
I am currently rerunning the _whole_ job, see if it works with chapters now.

1. You have to reload the ifo when changing the audio. That's the way it has been for some time now.
2. Ok.
3. Still haven't seen that error. Just disregard it.
4. No big deal. To Keep interlaced and Aspect Ratio: Don'use any deinterlacers. Deselect Progressive and zigzag in CCE Advanced. Select Interlaced Resize in the Frameserver Tab.
Side note, please post the wnaspi line from the log here. Also, what windows version are you using.
Side note no. 2, dvd chapters does indeed not work every time (I have only been able get dvd chapters to work on PAL movies)

WNASPI32.DLL 4.6.0.1021
Drive is type 1 (no DVD drive), no need to authenticate - OK.
I am using a toshiba 1612 and win98se.
Here is another result on a PAL episode:
Still one chapter but watch the chapter file:
[CHAPTERS]
Chapter0001=0
Chapter0002=1
Chapter0003=1
Chapter0004=1
Chapter0005=1
Chapter0006=1
Chapter0007=1
Chapter0008=1
Never seen this... it knows it has 8 chaptors, but is clueless as to where...

I am test the chapter thingy, maybe it's something else altogether, but I'll figure it out.

I vote for that. 1.0.9b3 seems really stable for people authenticating. I think it's quicker than the new method (albeit nic's might be able to auth the real hard ones perhaps).

I think the short display delay of the movie"s length, DAR, etc, has solved in rc3. :)
"WNASPI32.DLL 4.6.0.1021
No need to authenticate (was already) - OK."
If u remember in rc1 and rc2 the fist two lines of the log file were:
" Try to read DVD..."
Got to wait finishing the encoding and post the log file.
PS: fisrt time i use the Tmpeg and Kwag templates to test the quality of the final mpg.

The authentication can't be the problem. Here's the start of my log on a NTSC DVD:

Authentication successful!

Chapter0002=1
Chapter0003=1
Chapter0004=1
Chapter0005=1
Chapter0006=1
Chapter0007=1
Chapter0008=1
Chapter0009=1
Chapter0010=1
