Yes, i'm afraid.

damn :(

if i see this in the preview window of DGVC1DecNV, and after encoding it is in the finished result, i assume i need to figure what else could be in the chain? i didnt think there was much else that could effect the output from DGVC1DecNV in the preview.

i caught this accidentally so it could be happening with all my vc1 encodes at random frames :(

i take it my post #148 is only happening on my system? No, I have duplicated it and Nvidia is on the case.

i have been trying many different things to see if i could catch it here. Big O came through again with a fix! Redownload 1.0.0 and get the updated nvcuvid.dll. It's a pretty rare case apparently.

Isn't Nvidia support the cat's meow? :D

@woah!

Big O is interested to know what encoder was used or where that clip came from. Anything you could tell us would be valuable. Big O thinks it's a very poor encoder and is wondering who is using it. Thanks.

Isn't it The Dark Knight Blu-ray Disc? If that's true, it's Warner who made that disc.

EDIT: Yes, it is. I just downloaded the sample.

its straight off the bluray disc the dark knight. it has a weird setup where by they use film 2:35:1 for most parts and like the clip i posted is in 16:9 format which was filmed with a imax camera.

still seeing a pink block at frame 168 of the problem clip you have already? i see it in preview and after i process the clip and use virtualdub to see its frame 168.

its the only one i see nor tho....

Do these titles work without Direct3D? In other words, can you successfully use these tools over Remote Desktop?

I've seen a very small blocking here when i look carefully: (which is not so appearent as in your screenshot)

@Blue_MiSfit

The CUDA decoders require Direct3D.

@all

Please get the new nvcuvid.dll from the 1.0.0 distribution. I believe all the blocking and pink squares should now be history. Thank you for your patience.

yes all now looks perfect thx :)

quick question, what is the max bitrate for bluray ? i thought 50mbps was max including audio. but once processed the log shows a Bitrate (Max): 50.731

Guest
15th December 2008, 04:20
That's a spike. I don't know how the spec is defined. It all hinges on the time period over which the bitrate is measured.

woah!
15th December 2008, 04:59
its just you said nvidia thought this was a bad encoder used, so maybe it is outta spec too, i have heard people are having issues with audio cut outs with this disc too...

I don't think the driver includes nvcuvid.dll. In any case, you have to use the one I supply.

...For those not acquainted with my tools, the NV on the end denotes a version that runs on an Nvidia graphics card GPU. I don't have any plans to develop a non-NV version because I am not aware of any decent open source decoder...
I came here to see about a "non-NV version" and of course, due to neuron2's remarkable powers-of-documentation I find my answer in Post 1!!! Having now experienced what I believe to be issues w/both MS' and libavcodec's decoding of VC1, I find myself looking to get an NVidia graphics card, which in my case means also upgrading my old P4/AGP system completely to a new PCI Express 16-capable one. Santa-are-you-listening.

Anyway neuron2 if you have any occasion to leverage w/Nvidia the enhanced "pub" they're getting with your new tool, you should do so! They are gonna sell some cards as a result of your efforts! :)

They are gonna sell some cards as a result of your efforts! It would be nice to think that, but the community of Avisynth afficionado's is pretty small. Now if I make a DirectShow filter based on it...

Anyway, I think the Nvidia/ATI market share ratio is like 2/3 already, if I can believe what I read.

9600GT is a good choice for price/performance.

Believe me, even neuron can not rescue Ati which is a candidate of Guinness with its most reading thread (issues thread) on avsforum. (almost one million reading) :D
Ati owners always have to buy a new card hoping they won't meet issues anymore; this explains 2/3 :)

Tough it's sad to see ATI going so down in Video i mean we talk about the guys that where top in Video research back then :( when Nvidia only thought about how todo 3D and now we see Nvidia overthrowing ATI in Video, but it's also their fault they keep to closed in terms of their Video stuff and Nvidia was much faster leveraging that opportunity so i feel sad for ATI and their R&D guys :(

don't want to go to much oftop there could still be light at the tunnel for you i hope AMD/ATI gonna do the right thing and go as open as Nvidia with their UVD2 support for non licensed Developers
http://www.phoronix.com/scan.php?page=article&item=nvidia_vdpau_gpu&num=1 <- this is unique a very long time Linux waited for that and Nvidia made it reality 1 AMD/ATI are currently slow and behind Nvidia. It isn't over yet, though the question remains are AMD/ATI gonna support non licensed Developers on UVD2 and bring out a patch for Mplayer ? :)
Don't supporting those wouldn't fit in their strategy they already gave access to their Driver but keep UVD2 a 3rd Party Licensed Developer Secret ? (btw Nvidia goes the other way keeping their Driver a Secret opening VP2).
Still a Main Standard needs to be developed for Linux but it's a first direct step to SOA Hardware Video Decoding by both. Just lets wait for next month and see what and how AMD/ATI is gonna offer Developers for Linux and Windows alike in terms of UVD2 access they could gain at least under Linux the head with being complete open by then :). Also another thing which imho is of interest is the question of are UVD2 and VP2 programmable ??? could they be leveraged for other Video Codecs in the future by updating (somekind of pre loaded firmware inside the Driver ?). This way Nvidia for example maybe could even add X264 High Predictive Support in future Driver releases :)

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=woq2gZOGQeg <- 100% CPU utilized playback via libavcodec
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Cw1IZuskREU <- 100% CPU utilized playback via Nvidia VDPAU VP2 Hardware
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U7R90A7ZqLU <- And this is what im 100% sure by now what we have in our Nvidia/ATI GPUs working :) (a dedicated Video Processor a ARM11 logic for Nvidia the same Video Engine inside the APX 2500)

Nothing different to what ST Micro, Broadcom, Sigma and others Develop, just by Nvidia and ATI :) and in reality this has nothing todo with CUDA @ all should be complete independent of it just called that way for Marketing Purposes, everything that comes after the Bitstream Decoding though is Shader based (ouput via Direct3D on Windows) and so CUDA like Deinterlacing, DeNoising, Scaling soon Super resolution Conversion and could potentially need some CPU time :)

Thanks for the tip on the card (which I see is only $90 bucks BFG Tech at Frys atm). :)

Hello.

A little question. I've a PC made specialy for video processing encoding.
As i don't need high 3D capability, i've buy for it a simple little nVidia 6600.
I don't care about speed, but is it possible to use DGVC1DecNv with it ?
If not, which is the first or "lowest" nVidia card that support DGVC1DecNV ?

Thanks.

No, CUDA doesn't run on it and the GPU doesn't have a VP2 video decoding unit.

If not, which is the first or "lowest" nVidia card that support DGVC1DecNV ?
GeForce 8400 GS (try to get a G98-based model), but if you ever want to use the GPU for filtering HD video, I'd recommend a bit more powerful card (8500/8600/9400/9500GT).

I've look at the prices, and i think i'll buy a 9600GT.

Another issue I found is when trimming material. The resulting .dgv file has 2 beginning frames of macro blocked garbage.

* DGVC1DecodeNV now replaces leading orphaned B frames with copies of the first decodable frame. This avoids delivering macroblocked frames when cutting at an open GOP.

Hi,

there is an open source decoder for VC-1 in current ffmpeg(libavcodec) (http://ffmpeg.org/index.html). Is it possible to use this lib to build a DGVC1Dec that is independent from nvidia cards?

Regards,
Daniel.

Have you already tried using ffmpegSource (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=127037)?
