Not in all cases. I only have this issue sometimes with blu-ray sups. The subtitles of the TV series I am encoding right now have the right endtime.
Ok, sorry, then lets say in "all" Blurays.
I have now converted about 20 Blurays, and all of them have these issue with 1.14.
Earlier versions were right, but since (i think) 1.14 there is these BUG.

I did a movie today, and it was wrong there. Maybe it depends on the runtime and that's why it didn't show up on the TV series. (Both movie and series are blu-ray)

yesterday I needed like 60-90 mins (and I didnt type slow) to go through the 2500 lines of the zodiac BD english subs. is there anyway to speed that up? thats really a huge waste of time. the first few 100 lines I needed to correct like every line manually, before it slightly went better to only every second, third line etc. its simply too much time.

That would make sense, I used a very clean VM to do my rip work in, so it may not have it installed, I will install and hopefully get it going. It does run fine on my vista laptop.

Only one thing left that I'd like to see fixed really (apart from the last timecode business)!
When you have lines with mixed italicized and non-italicized text, SupRip treats the line as one or the other, and highlights some of the characters it doesn't recognize as e.g. italics
i.e., if you have this line:-
this is a line of some text
it might treat the whole line as non-ital, and highlight characters from 'some text', which you would then type in manually
only problem now is that whenever it finds characters from 'some text' in italics in future, again on lines where it treats the whole line as non-italicized, it will simply recognize them as being the letters you had trained, leaving them in the .srt as non-italicized, and you would have no idea they should in fact be in italics!
hope that makes sense :-)
the only solution I can see to this is to allow the user to SPECIFY when training a particular letter, whether or not that letter SHOULD be in italics
(or simply to delete the training data for every new subtitle file, which kind of sucks coz you have to retrain it all again)

If your final structure for the video is a bluray or avchd format, and you're not changing the resolution from the original resolution, you can just add the original .sup file to tsmuxer along with the audio and video.

Also if you are changing resolution to 720p, 576p or 480p you can resize sup's with BDSup2Sub (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145277) with very little work.

Hi
The .srt file can be fixed manually in e.g. Wordpad. Instead of "00:00:00,-001" I have added two seconds more than the begin entry.
Then the subtitle is displayed. However, it does not disappear anymore! The last subtitle then just stays until the end of the movie.
Can sombody explain to me how I can avoid this?
I use mkvmerge to mux the .srt file to a .mkv file which I play in MPC using DirectVOBSub.

hi deathlord. Why you use srt-files?
mkv in combination with MPC and VSFilter(Vobsub) is a very good solution. Now you should use the sub/idx format of subtitles.
No wrong entries in the timestamp. exactly position of the subtitles.
or is there another reason why you use srt-files?

ohh. thats easy use this tool. http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=145277
there you can convert direct from bluray.sup to vob.sub/idx.
you can keep the resolution of the subtitles at 1080p. VSFilter plays fine the 1080p.sub/idx.
so you dont need OCR anymore to convert your bluray.sups

I've been ripping subtitles from my dvds (copied with vobcopy) using SubRip 1.50b4 in wine for a while. Recently, I get "THIS SUBITLE ITEM CAN'T BE PROCESSED" on all dvds (including ones that had worked previously).
I have tried inputting the actual vob files, a custom vob file created by PgcDemux with "nsi," converting the .sup file from PgcDemux to .sub and inputting that, and using transcode to create a bmp inputting that. I have also uninstalled and reinstalled wine, created a new .wine folder, and reinstalling subrip, as well as defaulting all the settings.
I'm on ArchLinux x86_64.

I made an .srt file using SupRip, and want to make some significant edits to it, but when I try to open the simple .srt file with Subtitle Workshop or Subtitle Creator, they say the srt is an unrecognizable format. But in Notepad it just looks like the usual simple format:
1
00:00:37,705 --> 00:00:40,289
Blah
2
00:00:40,374 --> 00:00:43,376
<i>Blah</i>
3
00:01:35,763 --> 00:01:37,764
[ Blah ]
Why would those programs not like this? Is there another subtitle program that will import an .srt and allow me to edit? Afterward I will use the .srt as an input with tsMuxeR.

Impassioned plea to Taktaal to fix the now long-standing 00:00:00,-001 bug! :)
Spent quite a lot of time last night trying to figure-out why my tsMuxeR output (bluray mux) displayed a total run-time of 13 hours instead of 1h 58m, and it was because I'd neglected to find and fix this last time on the .srt I'd been editing. Guess I will know better next time, but... :(
The original was a BD subtitle that I needed to re-position into the 2.40:1 image area.

@laserfan and anyone else that might benefit from this.
If all you're doing is a) resizing or b) repositioning your bluray subs, use BDSup2Sub
Its a great tool for what you're doing. Its not an ocr program, all it does is resize the original sup's picture/image data. Actually it does a lot more than that but for your purposes you can reposition all the subs to wherever you decide. You can then output that as a .sup in either 1920x1280 or 1280x720 size.
alcOre
PS...not trying to take away anything from the great tool that is SupRip, but it has had this time stamp bug on the last ocr'd sub for awhile now. Besides, if your final output is avchd/bluray, your don't actually need to ocr. Using BDSup2Sub is a huge time saver.
PSS...The title BDSup2Sub is a bit misleading, since it does have output support for bluray .sup. 0xdeadbeef (the author) should probably eventually rename his program.

I know all that, and I will continue to SupRip many/most subtitles:
1. To use a smaller, much less obtrusive font size (and different font while I'm at it)
2. To make individual edits on the text especially if SDH e.g. to get rid of "sound effects" and other [BIRDS CHIRPING] type stuff
Sometimes I will make a new sub to suit my specific needs, and retain the original intact--it's nice to have options.

2. To make individual edits on the text especially if SDH e.g. to get rid of "sound effects" and other [BIRDS CHIRPING] type stuff
At least removing whole captions or parts of it is possible without OCRing. Just export to BDN XML + PNGs, remove complete captions by editing the XML or remove text by editing the PNGs, then convert BDN XML + PNGs to SUP again. Indeed, if there's a need for it, stuff like this could be integrated in the GUI as well.
Changing the size of a caption by means of an additional scaling factor would be perfectly possible on bitmap level as well I guess. Nobody ever requested that though. Changing the font style of course is only possible via OCR.

Indeed, if there's a need for it, stuff like this could be integrated in the GUI as well.
Removing [BIRDS CHIRPING] or "MAN ON TV:Blabla" on a PNG level would be a lot of work, so OCR would probably be the better choice to remove unwanted text, since it can be automated. There are however sometimes wierd captions that I would like to be able to remove. So this could be interesting.

I thought of "painting" a rectangle (via mouse click/drag) in the preview window and then allow the user to either delete all pixels in the rectangle or to crop the whole image to this rectangle.
Changing the size of a caption, would be a great option. So please do.
I'll consider it. Could take a bit longer though as I won't have much time next week until Friday.

in how far does SupRip stores character data of letters/subs they already have identified (also after windows reboot)? is it like everything will go faster when having lets say 10-20 BD subs already done with it, or is all that data not saved at all?
if its saved, then where? in some kind of file in the windows directories? or just in the subrip directory? would come handy in case the program or windows would have to be re-installed.

Sample SUP uploaded here (http://www.sendspace.com/file/jim8q7).
For example:
Problems on subtitles no.: 1, 86, 95, 187, 488, 539 (on 539 is also a problem with upper accent).
No problems on subtitles no.: 8, 10, 20...
Regarding the last subtitle bug with wrong end timecode (00:00:00,-001) can you make something like forcing the duration of last subtitle to a safe value, for example 3-4 seconds?

Yes and yes.
After you OCR a few SUPs, the rest are faster to ocr. Keep in mind though that it does not keep getting better and better to the point that it will ocr everything you throw at it perfectly.
As far as backing up the file that keeps your personal ocr'ing choices in it, yes its saved in a file that you can backup and restore. For windows xp, the file is stored in the following directory : "c:\documents and settings\[user name]\Application Data\SupRip" where [user name] is your windows xp user name. As for windows vista, I'm not completely positive on the directory hierarchy...I believe its "c:\Users\"[user name]\AppData\Roaming\SupRip", but I can't be sure since I hate vista.
Save the file/files in that folder and restore to that folder if you need to reinstall windows or whatever.
