So you write to a blank BD disc? That seems a little expensive for a backup? I've been reencoding using x264 and reauthor movie-only with TSMuxer onto a DVD+R.

No, definitely not. :) I back up to images on my hard drive. However, I know others who do back up using that method and it works fine. I agree, too expensive right now! I just read the entire ISO to my hard drive and mount it with the new version of Virtual CloneDrive. AnyDVD removes the protection on the fly from the mounted image with no problem.

Oh, P.S. 6.4.1.1 was just released and now handles the new MKB v7 that will be released soon. :D

Yea, those guys are absolutely amazing. MKB v7 technically hasn't even been released yet! But someone on the Slysoft forum got a disc early that had it so they updated. That is some amazing support!!

New version:

6.4.1.2 2008 04 11
- New (Blu-ray): Improved region lock removal from Blu-ray discs
which contain signed Java code

6.4.1.1 2008 04 10
- New (Blu-ray): Added support for AACS MKBv7!
(used on new titles to be released end of April)
- New (Blu-ray): Complete region lock removal from Blu-ray disc,
including discs which contain signed Java code!
- New (Blu-ray): Added dialog to ask for disc region on insertion.
- New (Blu-ray): Automatic option remembers previous region settings
per disc
- New (DVD): Support for protection on "Reservation Road", US
- New (DVD): Many improvements to AI scanner and AnyDVD ripper
- Fix (Blu-ray): BD+ removal did not work with some discs.
- Fix (DVD): Problems with some discs
- Some minor fixes and improvements
- Updated languages

The previous version still had trouble with region code removal on certain signed BD-J discs (e.g. Ratatouille region B).

Now I expect BD region codes to be no issue anymore whatsoever
(Thanks also to Supergoof who had the right idea as to what might have been the problem )

New (DVD): Support for protection on "Reservation Road", USThe necessity of this modification would once again indicate that the "AI Scanner" is not based on "Artificial Intelligence", as it doesn't automatically adapt to new protection schemes...

The necessity of this modification would once again indicate that the "AI Scanner" is not based on "Artificial Intelligence", as it doesn't automatically adapt to new protection schemes...

The biggest reason for the addition of the A.I. Scanner was in reducing the needed work to handle newer protections. I believe that looking at what has transpired since the addition of the A.I. Scanner in AnyDVD that it has proven its worth even when issues have cropped up. In some cases there were accidental bugs that slipped in.

The UK release of Curse of the Golden Flower had previously been handled correctly and at some point had a problem again. I believe this protection is similar to the Reservation Road one. Someone at some point probably accidentally made a mistake that caused a bug to slip in to the A.I. Scanner code. The bug has been fixed so that both titles are now handled correctly.

Regardless, this really isn't the point of this thread, is it? I thought BD+ was the purpose? It's nice to see MKB v7 handled so quickly. :) Let's see when they make the next changes to BD+.

There is some misunderstanding on this part.
The AI scanner does detect protections based on unreadable sectors. It does that really well - flawlessly actually.

The other kind of protections is messed-up file systems, invalid values in the IFO files (like streams with negative lengths, data outside the scope, ....).
The AI scanner is not designed to handle this type of protection, that still needs "manual cleanup".

just wondered, before BD+ was beaten, there was a lot of hype comeing from AACS, and sony, saying this won't be beat for such and such, and all the rest of it,

but now BD+ has been done, there's been no news or official news coming from AACS company, i don't suppose any one has any links of official statements from this company, as they seemed to had a lot of talk 5 months ago, and now nothing,

i would deffiently like to hear what the person who said BD+ will not be beat for at least 10 years has to say for himself,

any links any one, thanks

probably because bluray won the war of words now, so AACS will get paid now no matter what, as it is not an optional feature like it was on hd-dvd. just more money the consumers have to shell out to useless crap...

Hmmm that is an interesting point of irony; that despite the format with BD+ winning (due to BD+ itself!) - it will be only AACS that makes the real money from now on!

I.e. if HD DVD had have won, AACS was optional. So by Blu-ray winning, with AACS mandatory, AACS makes a ship load more than if HD DVD had won!

Whereas the BD+ crew lose out big time by this being hacked - as the BD+ will be ditched for three reasons, 1. it is optional, 2. it costs extra, 3. it's been cracked and is ineffective at what it claims!

AACS is not really mandatory on BD. Okay, the papers says that, that's all. If you don't encrypt, you don't encrypt.

Not really - a couple of players (including PDVD and WinDVD (ArcSoft? Think so too)) will not run an AACS-free disc unless it's a recordable.
That's why AnyDVD makes the system believe, the disc is a recordable medium.

Do all standalone players do the same?

Hm, that's not what I mean.

You can have the AACS folder but you are not required to encrypt any stream on a BD. Well right, in that case you have to pay the AACS LA - so AACS is indeed mandatory. I wonder if you're required to pay at all because AACS is not protected the disc in this case.

Ask your manual. AVCHD might be a hint. But be aware: AVCHD is using a different file structure.

Oh, ok, you're right there - but of course even then you won't get past the cashier.

I successfully backed-up some of my blu ray decrypting them to my HD with AnyVDHD.
Is there's a tool to decrypt just the movie and not the whole disc?that would save a lot of time.
Many thanks!

SamuriHL

You need a tool to RIP just the movie. You want the whole disc decrypted. Might seem like semantics, but, it's not. There is a huge difference. I have posted a movie only guide on the Slysoft forum (find one of my posts and look in my sig...I'm late so I don't have time to go find it right now) that uses eac3to and tsmuxer...both absolutely incredible tools. It's a fairly simple process thanks to those utilities.

hey peer, its time for you to look at Jumper BD+, seems they have added some more java, as anydvd says it decrypted it ok,but the result is garbled video blocks. also eacto says the stream is still encrypted too...

They know. They have received the disc and are working on it. There have been a few threads about Jumper already on their forums. This is most likely a BD+ issue, not Java. SlySoft themselves said that they had not fully implemented everything that BD+ can do, only what has been used so far. Maybe that's what they meant by it will take 10 years to break. They have enough tricks and other codes like this to keep SlySoft busy for 10 years...

The whole 10 years thing didn't make sense anyway. If you can play it, then you can crack it.

Fix is already coming up - should be tomorrow, I guess. :)

Java has absolutely nothing to do with it.

Those people are incredible, great job. All BD+ titles can be backup up.

Does it play with AnyDVD disabled? What you're describing is not a BD+ protection problem. Also, what does the status window show in AnyDVD?

Sounds like AnyDVDHD is something I need to go and actually buy! A breath of fresh air in a sea of crappy apps that aren't worth the money.

AnyDVD HD is absolutely fantastic with excellent support. It's not a cheap product, but, is well worth it IMO. Give the 21 day trial a run for its money and see how you like it. (The trial version is only limited in that it can't retrieve new keys from the server. It is fully functional in every other way. This will only limit you if new titles come out that AnyDVD doesn't already have a key for. And in those cases, upgrading to the next version when it comes out will provide all known keys up to that point). Good luck!
