Do you want a source code like that : I add the line "gizmo27 add begin"..."gizmo27 add end" for example ?

I was more hoping for a proper *.diff file. When you checked out sources from CVS (I assume you did that) and modified them locally you will probably have an option in your CVS client to generate the diff from current CVS files.

Having said that - did you modify anything significant in the GUI (like graphics etc)? Because if yes then binary files might have been modified and then diff would be more problematic.

Not really : I used the GKMod source files provided by Kurtnoise.
I haven't used any CVS for that. I don't know how does it works.

Kurtnoise began to add some code in the source and after I continue

But I never used CVS

I don't know how to make a diff file but I'll search how to

Put "DGDecode.dll" in the directory "plugins" of your Avisynth program and your problem will probably disappear ;)

Ok I did that and now I get a new error and the job will not start.

The error now says:

"Avisynth Open Failure:
MPEG2Source: Couldn't open source file or obsolete D2V file."

Edit
My mistake! I copied over the old DGDecode.dll file from my plugins back up folder, not the one from the current installation.
Once I copied the current DGDecode.dll file, I didn't get the error.

I clicked for it to start the job (BTW, the confirmation for starting the job says something like "Ja" and "Nein" - not a big deal for me but thought I'd mention it since this is the English version)
. The Encoder panel says the first pass has started however, VDubMod didn't pop up like it always use to.
I have no idea if it's really working or not since I can't see that. If this is a new feature, I'd really prefer to be able to see VDubMod while it's working. I always like to see what FPS I'm getting ;).
Is there an option for this?

One other little thing - I'd prefer to have the old way of choosing audio options. It's much easier for me and more precise to be able to type in the audio bitrate that I want, rather than the slider.

Thank you so much for letting me try this! :D

I have made this diff file (not a proper one as you said) with my changes and the worfdata ones
I know Kurtnoise had created the "Ux264Form.pas" for the x264 cli but after I don't know completly what he add or modified : I can forgot some things so I don't want to tell.
Maybe if you ask him...

I don't know if it can help you but :

GKMod_0.35.1_b2_src.diff.zip (http://gordianknot.free.fr/gordian_knot_tests/GKMod_0.35.1_b2_src.diff.zip)

And this my info_gizmo27.txt :
For all my modifications (mod) and add : I've writed "// gizmo27 add" or "// gizmo27 add begin (...) // gizmo27 add end"
or "gizmo27 mod"

File Ux264Form.pas :

=> What Kurtnoise did is to make a *.setting file containing the command line for x264 (variable string named x264CLIenc)
The matter was GK didn't want to start because the file didn't start with the line "REGEDIT4, etc..."
To make GK encode I've created procedures that go into the file and rewrite the contain with the old structure

So when you click on the button btaddx264 (procedure btaddx264clic, procedure EncodeX264), it runs my procedures and rewrite
the contain/inside of the file : I know what you'll say it's not professionnal at all : but I'm not a programmer and I try to
find by myself what was the matter On this side, sure, the code can be improved ;)

But I did that cause I wanted to see GK again ever if I'm not a professionnal developper

=> I stock the value of X264CLIEnc into a variable (cmdencfirstpass, cmdencsecondpass) for the multipass : firstpass and
second

File Encode.pas :

=> I call the procedures which rewrite the *.settings file : I call them in the procedure "EncodeX264"

File EncoderThreads.pas :

=> following the case of encoding type (mkv, mp4, single or multipass) : I've created procedure which open MS-DOS command line
and give the command line into and encode

File VNandubJobFile.pas :

=> To fix the bug with muxing audio-video with vdubmod I modified in the procedure TJobScript.AddAudioVMod this line :
"List.Add(VModStream + 'SetInterleave(1,500,1,0,' + IntToStr(EncAData.delay) + ');');" (put "1,500,1,0,........." by default
... (I'don't know if it's a good way but it works)

Regards,
Gizmo.

I hope I'll can make and provide a true diff file soon

Encoder log says it started 2nd pass now so I guess it's working :D (I'm doing a full length movie)
Still no sign of VDubMod.

Full length movie using DivX 6.8.5.11, AC3 audio
Windows XP, SP2

Final results:
File size is correct and the audio is in sync :)

Something is still screwy with the audio however. When the file is played back using Media Player Classic (v 6.4.91) I see a flickering square in the video. When viewing the list of audio filters during playback, MPC shows a list of 12.

I manually added the audio to the test_movie.avi. The flickering square is gone and viewing the list of audio filters during playback, MPC now shows a list of 6.

This isn't like the little pixelly squares you could get on a lousy encode. The video quality is fine :)
This is one big flickering square that is visible on the finished AVI file. When I manually add the audio to the video, it's fine and MPC doesn't use twice the amount of filters playing back the audio.

Oh - just a couple of more things - some how GKnot lost the ability to retain my resolution and audio settings. I'd like to see that back because this is most helpful when lining up batch encodes, especially for things like TV series.

And a problem with the "Audio 1" and "Audio 2" options in the Bitrate tab.
It wants to set itself to "No Audio" for Audio1 and "AC3" for Audio 2.

You must specify all the program paths, after you need :

=> x264.exe (http://mirror01.x264.nl/x264/?dir=./revision1047)

=> DVD Decrypter (http://www.infos-du-net.com/telecharger/DVD-Decrypter,0301-631.html) or DVDFabDecrypter (http://www.homemedia.fr/logiciels/133-telecharger-DVDFab-Decrypter.html) (most recent that DVD Decrypter)

This is some tests results from a man which can be very useful :

In the x264 encoder configuration on GK, "Mixed Ref Frames" never can be selected, usually it's possible with a max of 2 Reference Frames.

Missing to some options for the x264 which improve the video quality :

-In the "Partition Decision" menu, x264 offers now 'RDO on all frames' option (like Megui but there it must be '--subme'), 'RD refinement on I/P frames', and 'RD refinement on all frames'

-In 'Method Search', there's 'SATD Exhaustive' method (more low but why not ?)

(In the 'MB & B Frames' tab, '4x4 Intra Search' isn't activated whereas 'All' is activated by default. It's activated if we choose else than "all" and re-select 'All' after (just a detail but...))

-Finally, missing (maybe to add in the 'H.264' tab) the slides (with numerical values with commas) : 'Psy-RD Strength' (1,0 by default) and 'Psy-Trellis Strengh' (0,0 by default).
And in the 'More...' tab the remaining : 'Adaptive Quantizers' containing a pop-up list (containing the value by default 'Variance AQ (default mask)' and 'Disabled'), and a slide (numerical value with comma)
'Strengh' (with the value 1,0 by default).

And now there are the screensshots which illustrate what it was said before :
http://img443.imageshack.us/img443/9971/meguiadvancedx264configdd2.png

If you don't do that, encoding doesn't works !

I currently need just one thing. To be able to use VirtualDub and not VDubMod. VirtualDubMod is no longer updated, unlike VirtualDub. Or probably I need a little time, to write some kind of bridge program, that transfers GordianKnot VDubMod commands to VirtualDub, and uses VirtualDub only when needed (MKV/VBR MP3), and from what I've seen VBR MP3 is supported in the new VirtualDub 1.8.8.

//Edit
Ok, few things. I can't see VirtualDubMod, so I don't know if things are working well. And I can't choose the bitrate for a movie, well I can, if I edit GortianKnot.ini and change "cbHideTabs_Checked" to "True", some of the fields are moved there, but it's not very comfortable to use.
And how do I apply "gknot.patch"?

I think the best should be to give the choice to the users : to use VDubMod for those who'd like to use it again and to use VDub for those who'd like to use VDub

No ?

Spiderm@n
31st January 2009, 23:45
Actually, I was just thinking about a bridge app. Where it asks for VirtualDubMod, you put the bridge and instead of VDubMod it starts Vdub, choosing the right parameters. It's some keys that GKnot uses to call VDubMod, and are not presented in VDub, that's why you can't choose whitch one to use freely. Anyway, it'll be a bit harder, because I'm using Vista x64, and I'm still using something as old as Borland C++ 3.1 (a pretty old DOS IDE), and programs written in it don't work in x64 OS. I'll see what I can do, may be it's time to learn something new :):):).
