I agree - I don't think it's a problem either but since I was testing, I tried to pay extra attention to everything so I could report back on what I found.
Thank you for letting me try it! :)

Just want to say that I am very happy to see GKnot get a revival.
I have always been keeping my components up to (stable) date locally but this is becoming a bigger and bigger update as time moves on and GKnot doesn't.
As of right now I use GKnot to get the cropping/resizing and "Bits/(Pixel*Frame)"-calculation (yes, I do find it useful for estimating bitrate usage).
Then I save an avs-file and integrate the values I got from GKnot into MeGUI so that I can encode using x264's CLI.
I just find the cropping/resizing in GKnot a lot more comfortable to use than any of the other tools'.
Would be neat to integrate AAC support into it all too.
Currentl I have to do audio encoding first in MeGUI so that I will be able to roughly calculate final filesize using "Size" in the audio-section.
Might sound unnecessary, but since the MeGUI-people didn't want to put "Bits/(Pixel*Frame)"-calculation in their tool, this was the choise left to me...
Since VDubMod's matroska-support is now so old it's even complaining about it itself, maybe it's time to switch the matroska muxer to mkvmerge (from MKVToolnix)?
Also, if someone would actually be doing a proper update of GKnot, maybe it's about time someone did an updated GKnot codec pack?
Not one of those mega-packs of course, just updating the codecs to current (stable) versions and possibly replacing ancient ones with the new generation...

Gizmo - have you considered posting about your beta in other video forums?
That would give it a lot more exposure and more people a chance to try it.
Just a suggestion. :)
I would've posted about it myself at videohelp but I don't know if that would be proper or not...
Thank you again for all of your time and work on reviving this fantastic tool!!!!

gizmo27

Yes I think you must add filter manually in the avs file.
But maybe there's another method...

Here (http://lion4free.free.fr) is avaible a GKmod version by Kurtnoise.
modified : the audio part, the use of x264 cli version and the AAC calculation in the "calculate frame overhead", tab "bitrate".
Good try

The feature is missing unfortunately still can you it still insert?
Bitrate =>

Calculate Average Bitrate and Calculate Avi File Size
And that is opened the VirtualDubMod with the encoden, so which one can see with which FPS number is encodet. And the Progress encodings is as far.

at sourceforge I've seen there was an app called virtualdubmod bugfix/cvs...
What is it exactly ? A more recent vdubmod version ? Can I replace in the package the old exe by the virtualdubmod bugfix/cvs new one without problem ?
gizmo27
4th June 2007, 10:40
I'm about to update the package with the GKMod and new apps always for testing.
I'm looking for people who would be able to translate GK (the new interface changes, not very long), in all the previous GK version languages (overall russian), except french and spanish. Thanks.
Some people, please ?

No result :) Some mistakes in GK code... x.264 CLI don't need VD for encoding! :) I'm tried to rip with one AC3 track. I rip very much of cartoon :) and was configuring GK like usually. GK with vfw working - GKMod not working
I very like GK and using ONLY GK. So.... I'l be waiting GKMod!!!

you can't create a *.avi file with the x264 CLI version.
(but it's possible to create one with the x264 vfw version)

So... Gizmo... please explain how to use GK with x264 CLI. I use vfw.
But... when I’m trying to use GKmod I see the error mentioned above! What’s wrong. SOS!!! :-)
virtualdubmod updated ;-)

I've eard to say that it's possible to make an avi with x264 cli : downloading and using avctoavi.
after that, how does it works, I don't know : I use Xvid to make avi.
but I'm sure you'll find tutorial easily (probably on this site)
good tries and see you soon

Gizmo27, you don't understand me. I know how to use GK. :-) One thing that I want... Did you encoded anything with x264 CLI using GKMod. I don't care the container - only one thing.... do you have at least one successful encoding attempt :-)
I'm asking you because you shared the GKMod ;-)
How to encode MPEG-2 to any container with x264 CLI using GKMod? How? I have the trouble ;-) I configure GKMod like GK and try to encode.... but see the error. Way to x264.exe is pointed..

sorry. I haven't tried the x264 cli yet. But I'll tell you if I've got some results. Have you tried with virtualdubmod bugfix/cvs (http://sourceforge.net/project/downloading.php?group_id=65889&use_mirror=dfn&filename=VirtualDubMod_1_5_10_2_b2542.zip&25920176) ?

I'd like to introduce new filters in avisynthplugins : to add mt_masktools and removegrain 1.0
Can I ?
And if possible I'd like to know if the new mt_masktools.dll filter has the same parmameter than the previous masktools.dll ? what are the new params ?
paramameters = binarize, combmask, dedgemask, etc... (you can see them in "filters" option in GK)
Thinking about the avs script, is it the same writing ?

The problem is overall for Russian, Chinese, Greek, Hebrew, etc... In fact, all the others languages excepted French (cause it's my native language)

Do you know some people who would be interested by translating GkMod ?

i havent followed AGK and GK that close, but i understand that AGK was discontinued? Or was it GK? GKMod is a continuation of GK right? So what are you doing is a continuation of AGK?
buzzqw

AGK is a closed source application, so no new development could be made by community, only Len0x can update autogk
BUT gordianKnot is freeware and opensource and so some volunterous guy is trying to update the software
