In the prev/cut window, should the slider move along as the preview plays or only when manually slid?

jsoto
6th May 2007, 01:45
In the tiny preview, the slider moves during the playback, but in the main preview/cut dialog, the slider only moves to the final position when the playback stops (also, the sector/elapsed time are updated when stops) .

Thanks jsoto!

@FredThompson - I don't think there's been changes to LGPL or Preview.

A full release would have all the files. Imagine you were a new user, downloading VobBlanker for the first time. What happens when you want to preview?

I'm just pointing out that some of the files are missing from the full release.

Thanks, jsoto!

@ FredThompson: VobBlanker has no external exe for the preview.

Preview, help file and lgpl are missing from the release. Must have been forgotten in the excitement?
VobBlanker does not use an external app for preview (as r0lZ said)
help file was already included: VobBlanker.chm
lgpl file: Here you're right. I forgot to include it and I have to. I've just changed the zip files on my sites to include it. BTW, it is not the first time I forgot to include lgpl.txt in the exe zip...

I'm assuming you're not using the last beta http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/betas/
(which does not include any additional file)

but the official release
http://download.videohelp.com/jsoto/vobblanker.htm

I typically get each beta and decompress it on top of the previous builds. I grabbed the full 2.1.3.0 and did the same which is when I noticed those files weren't in the release.

Am I correct in believing vobblanker.hlp, preview.exe and preview.ini are no longer needed?

jsoto

Am I correct in believing vobblanker.hlp, preview.exe and preview.ini are no longer needed?

From the changelog (in the help file, BTW):
Vers 2.0.0.2 (09-05-2005)
Changed: Help file and help integration using htmlhelp instead of winhelp
Means VobBlanker.chm (html style) instead of VobBlanker.hlp (old style)

Vers 1.6.0.1 (08-12-2004)
Added: New integrated preview using jeanl DVDPreview class

Are you really keeping preview.exe in your HDD since 2004? :D

Cu Rippraff
Yep, you have a lot of old stuff...
All the required files are in the exe zip package.
So:
To run VobBlanker:
VobBlanker.exe is enough. No moer files are needed
Help file:
VobBlanker.chm. No more files. Old style (winhelp) was using the files
VobBlanker.hlp, VobBlanker.cnt and VobBlanker.GID
del_angles
del_angles.exe is enough.
You can also do this work with pgcEdit and forget this exe..
changelogs in txt format (info, not needed to run)
ReadmeVobBlanker.txt
Readmedel_angles.txt
sound files
You can delete them (VobBlanker won't complain) if you don't like them, or change by other wav files. Just keep the name and VobBlanler will use them
DoneKO.wav
DoneOK.wav
Cleaning stuff
Remove_VobBlanker_settings.reg
Remove_VobBlanker_WindowCoordinates.reg
To be used (manually) to clean the registry. The second one is interesting. VB stores its main Window coordinates in the registry when exits to recover the same position and size when starts. But, if the window coordinates stored in the Registry are corrupted for any reason, VB starts but you're not able to see the dialog, because it is out of the screen. This issue happens rarely, but it happens (I've also seen it in other progs, like IFOedit)

No more files.

jsoto

EDIT:
mfc42 is statically linked in VobBlanker.exe You do not need any "additional" mfc42.dll

Hi everyone, I supouse it is NOT a VB bug, but I just wonder if maybe someone could help me with a strange thing that itīs happening to my NERO RECODE 2 movies.
I opened a post which explains my problem in detail
http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=124383
but nobody answer to my specific problem and recently Iīve made a new discover.......Itīs related to VB.
If I make the FULL dvd with NR2, no problems appears, all the things that I set in the movieīs menues shows OK when I see the film, but, if for any reason I have to "edit" the dvd using VB (removing trailers, etc) and later do a transcoding with NR2 using this "edited" version of the movie, problems appears as described.
I tested so far Spiderman 1 and 2, Thank You For Smoking, Casino Royale, The Prestige (all original Zone 4 dvdīs) with VB 2.1.3.0 with itīs default settings, and used NR2 latest version (the one that cames in the latest Nero 7850 package)
As I said, I think it is NOT a VB bug...I think itīs a NR2 bug which reads bad info of the "edited" dvd, but I donīt have any clue. The strange thing itīs if I use DvdShrink on the same "edited" movie, all goes perfect....
I hope someone could give me some help.
Thanks

Hi!

As an experiment, try performing your "editing" with a different program than VOBBlanker - and see if you still have the same problem after using NERO Recode 2...

I'm already paralyzed from the neck down so please, nobody shoot me for what I'm about to say because that would put a serious crimp I'm my day. ;) I'm tired of Windows (and MS, and WinOS's futures look bleek) so next month I'm planning on getting a Macbook {Wheelie4 shields himself with his Dell}. I know OS X may not be any better than WinOS's (never used a Mac) but doubt it could be any worse. :) jsoto, ever contemplated a version of Vobblanker for mac OS X?

I considered that option but my WinXP+SP1 disc is the disc that came with my Dell and not an original WinXP disc. If I understand correctly you can't use an OEM disc.

Yup, you understand correctly. That bites. I've got a Dell Inspiron 9300 running Vista Ultimate right now and my next laptop will very likely be a Mac. I'm not abandoning Windows...I'll likely put Vista on it, but, I'd like to be able to run OS X, as well. Of course, my req's for functionality in a new laptop won't be met this year by any company, so, I'll be waiting a while. :)

Hi jsoto, i need to convert a disk from PAL to NTSC. Im trying to patch the dvd changing the video attrib. All is working ok in all the vobs except the video attrib of the file VIDEO_TS.VOB. After i process the dvd , all the files are patched except the video_ts.vob.
So my dvd player still recognizes the dvd like a PAL.

Sometimes i use ifoedit to change the remaining traces of the PAL dvd but not always work. Can you add an option to patch all the vobs in the dvd?

OK, after a couple of weeks Iīve made some free time and space in my hdd and Iīve made a new test, this time with DvdRemake Pro and latest NR2 (and of course with latest VB too) on the movie PURSUIT_OF_HAPPYNESS region 4.
Unfortunally the results were as I expected....movie made with DVDRemake Pro and NR2 works perfect in the languaje and subs selection, and the movie made with VB and NR2 results were wrong again.
Itīs a shame that jsoto canīt test this. I really love using VB+NR2, because itīs faster than any other couple of programs.

blutach
11th June 2007, 01:03
I wonder if this is a problem due to logical remapping of enabled streams? When a stream is removed from the middle, a gap is left in the VTSI_MAT table. Perhaps NR2 closes these gaps and therefore make the stream selection menu go awry. Try unsetting this feature or using it only when PgcEdit's DVD Shrink plugin tells you it is safe to do so.

Please also read the VobBlanker help file. Search for "More settings" and read the bit about "clear audio/subs status when blanking". Unticking this setting might help you.

First I want to say "THANK YOU blutach" for taking the time an effort to answer my problem. Second, I want to remmeber you Iīm not a profesional in using this tools......in fact, I lost a couple of days learning how to delete a couple of trailers from a dvd with DVDREMAKE, so, when you say "Try unsetting this feature or using it only when PgcEdit's DVD Shrink plugin tells you it is safe to do so." I donīt have a clue about what are you talking about....Iīm not using pgedit or any plugin....I only tried DVDSHRINK 3.15, NR2 latest version and now DVDREMAKE to make this tests. I use all these programs with itīs defaults settings.....I will certanly try unticking "clear audio/subs status when blanking" box and try again. The only problem that I have itīs time and "power machine"...Iīm on an Athlon 2100+ with 512mb of ram and each test itīs a pain in the a$$ :(
The only thing that I really would appreciate is someone could verify my problem.......because no one deny or verify this (specially jsoto), and, as far as I know, the problem appears in a 100% of the movies that I tried.....itīs not an isolated case. Itīs something that happens every time I want to encode a movie using VB and NR2 and itīs a very nasty bug.
Again, thanks for your time and answer blutach :)
alx

PS. Jsoto, donīt take this comment in a bad way, but itīs really frustrating that no one, with a powerful Q2D machine and 4gb. of ram, and a 8800GTX graphics card like you, do a test in your holidays :P JK

Furthermore, it is not incumbent on him to purchase a commercial product like NR2 - he does, after all, provide his program free of charge; it is not even "donationware".

As for looking at streams, there are lots of guides and posts around to learn from. The DVD Shrink plugin for PgcEdit is downloadable from the PgcEdit site and you simply choose "Check streams remapping safety" and note the results. Most times, it will come up negative.

I am reasonably sure if you did not enable remapping of streams (not sure in NR2 even has this option), then you would not have an issue.

Hi again blutach :)
If I may ask, why download and install a dvdshrink plugin for pgcedit if I have NO problems with DVDSHRINK??? could you please explain what do you want me to test with it??......and, BTW, I want to use VB over pgcedit because itīs the fastest and easiest program for me to "clean" a dvd (delete a few trailers, remove some special "stupid" features, etc)...
Iīm just pointing a (not say a bug) "feature" in VB or in NR2.....maybe an incompatibility between this two programs, nothing else.
BTW, Iīve tried unticking "clear audio/subs status when blanking" with the same results :(
Thanks again

Let me start by saying I have a love/hate relationship with one function of VobBlanker. I lover that fact that I can replace menus with custom stills, but now I'm so obsessive about it that I probably spend twice as much time in Photoshop than in VobBlanker when processing a disc. :)

Now I have a problem that I've encountered a few times. I have a main movie with IlVu that has the menu in the same VTS. I would like to process the menu but not the movie, but I don't think that is currently possible.

Am I missing a way to do this with VobBlanker? If not is there an alternative method, preferably something short of reauthoring the menu in Scenarist.

Also, if I'm not mistaken about this, is the limitation due to a technical problem or just due to the UI of VobBlanker?

Am I missing a way to do this with VobBlanker?

By default it will say Skip when you open the files. Change it to process.

Then at the top, under the Output Folder path box, check "Process Menus" and uncheck "Process Titles". Have it output to some other folder.

Then just copy the files from that output folder to your main folder.

The IlVu movie vobs will not be touched, just the menu.
