I see alot of improvements with this new version, the problem I was having with skippy video is gone. I tried encoding a video, and I set it to a 2.3333 aspect ratio, and it showed the preview as that aspect ratio, however it encoded to video to an aspect ratio of 4:3.

Does anyone know if there is a list explaining what the various options do under denoise/sharpen as I'm not familiar with them ?
I think it applies the filter to the preview in real time which is really cool by the way winnydows but I'm just curious to know if one is much slower than the other etc. I tried one of the GPU ones and it was quite slow is the speed of the GPU a factor in that ?

I really like this ap, what I wonder though is how to set it in such a way that it always converts to a certain resolution. Currently it encodes to 480x272 automatically (Ipod Touch) but I would like it to make it 480x320. I now have to set this every time I add an encode, can this be set somehow as a default ?
The same for downsampling to 44100 KHz ...
And another feature I miss (or cannot figure out) is to add multiple inputs at once (and also save them at once) including the automatic selection of the subtitles. This would really speed up the process of adding my collection of vids.

Hi, I've been using XVID4PSP for a few weeks now to convert MKVs to something the 360 will play natively (usually MP4 format).
It's a really nice tool but there is one thing which I'd like to be able to do - the 360 will play XVID files with 5.1 AC3 audio in AVI containers, but it's limited to 2 channel AAC audio for H.264 MP4 files. Would it be possible to add an encoding option for AC3 sound in XVID AVI files?
Thanks!
Also, should XVID4PSP be able to handle VOBSUB subtitle files okay? It always seems to crash when I try!
winnydows
20th December 2007, 19:16
@Kotatsu Neko
But you can use AVI Hardware format for this, is not it ?
No ideas with vobsub, haven`t sample files for this.
@dancoleman81
WMVHD good choise, but still a lot of fixes need do before WMV addition.

I just grabbed the latest version of XVID4PSP and I saw I could indeed encode to AC3 XVID using AVIs! I did a test and it worked great, but can I ask which is the best quality possible - is it XVID HQ Extreme, or XVID HQ Ultra?
I did run across a problem though. I tried to change the aspect ratio on a video and I got a giant red error message written across the preview window - "Evaluate: System Exception - Access Violation (C:\temp\preview.avs, line 11).
One other thing - when you ripp a DVD using something like DVD decrypter, the VOBSUB subtitles are already in the main VOB file (I think?). Might there be a way for XVID4PSP to use those subtitles and burn them into the video? Perhaps ask to use the subs as it asks which language file to use when there are multiple tracks?

Whats the difference between AVI and AVI Hardware? I'm trying to get a movie hardcoded with subs to play on the PS3. :thanks:
Kotatsu Neko
21st December 2007, 10:04
BTW, a really useful tool when adding subs to something is MKVExtract. It allows you to pull embedded subs out of an MKV file so you can feed them to XVID2PSP to burn into the video.

@picachux
AVI set to max XviD quality without compatibility with Hardware DVD.
AVI Hardware set to max of possible quality without compatibility loss, but quality ofcource not so good as in AVI.
PS3 have many locked feautures of XviD in current firmware, so AVI Hardware will be best choise, after MP4 PS3, much much after.

I've been trying to convert an H.264 AC3 720p MKV but whenever I try to add the subtitle file (either in it's original .ass format, or converted into .srt) I always get the "Evaluate: System Exception - Access Violation (C:\temp\preview.avs, line 11)" error in XVID4PSP. I've ever tried remuxing the video, stripping it of everything except it's video and audio streams.
Any idea what's causing this? The file seems ordinary enough, and plays fine in WMP or VLC.
Thanks!

Hi, I just downloaded your latest version and it looks good.
Btw, how can I change the resolution? Cuz it's set to 480x272 for PSP and ripped clips are not in correct AR.
Nvm. just found it and I was like WOW~! THIS IS THE GREATEST PSP COVERTER I've SEEEN :w00t:! wish I still have my PSP :\
50 fps + ! Pretty impressive :)
Btw, how do I add jobs and let it encode one after one while I am away? Can't find it yet :\
*EDIT*
I tested with a file and it doesn't play on my PSP :(
Can anyone help?
It always says Unsupport Data. This happens only when I encode with other encoders which are not automatic like once-click encoders etc.
http://i11.tinypic.com/7wt013k.png
I have an automatic one-click encoder (I bought it) and all its converted files work fine, but the the output files from MeGUI, RipBot, and this XviD4PSP doesn't work!
I've on Version 3.40 OE-A.
Thanks.

Put video to correct folder: /VIDEO.
MKVCrazy
24th December 2007, 21:58
I put that in H:/PSP/VIDEO
and it just disappear on the PSP
Btw, I named it as MAQ20008.MP4
Is there any special name I should give?

H:/VIDEO/AnyFileName.MP4
Better don`t use MAQ mask it may confuse PSP.

Btw, I just found someone's suggestion to change the sameplerate from 48 kHz to 24kHz but I can't find 24 so Im testing it with 22 kHz.
I think it's because of the AVC Level. I heard that 3.40 OE-A is only works with 2.0 or something. But the AVC Level you provided is 3.0 :0

24th December 2007, 23:19
From 3.03 PSP accept 3.0 level.
PSP accept any samplerate <= 48000 hz.
Usual mistakes:
wrong folder for video
wrong firmware.
Are you set format to MP4 PSP AVC ?
Are you shure place video in H:/VIDEO ? Not to PSP/VIDEO!
Shure play this video with XMB player ?
Are you shure use 5.027 RC2 ?
As alternative you can try on small file and you can try MP4 PSP ASP format.
And post encoding log if nothing help.

I beg for your forgiveness.
It was my fault :\
Yes it's now working when I place the file in H:/VIDEO
I was used to put my files in H:/MP_ROOT/100ANV01 for AVC types.
Btw, may you kindly explain how to add jobs and let it convert while Im away?
Thanks alot for your help.

Another small problem again.
When I try to set the video bitrate by myself it crashes.
It was already set to "Constant Quality" and a "21" under that thing.
Then I press the drop down menu and as soon as I press on the "2 pass" it just crashes and will stop me. :\
What can that be?
I've successfully encoded a 2 mins clip with "Constant Quality" but can't set bitrate manually.

Try this one. Or try change preset to 2P before change mode. I can`t reproduce your error. Any way add crash protection for mode switch.

Can you please create a tutorial for converting mkv to Ps3 playable format ? I've tried different files but without any luck. Since there are so many options in the software, it would be great if you can create a step by step tutorial.
Thanks.

Anybody had any success getting EVO's encoded via XVID4PSP? This app is excellent for my blu-rays...probably as simple and straightforward as it could possibly be. It sure beats the hell out of using MeGUI for anybody but the most hardcore users!
Also, is anybody else having issues with the aspect ratio auto detection? I've had a couple of 2.35:1 movies that XVID4PSP seems hell-bent on turning into 16:9. I just manually select the correct input and output AR's, but I'm wondering if there's something I should be doing or not doing that's causing the auto-detect to act screwy.
Thanks again for such a great app, Winnydows! If I can figure out how to rip EVO's, I will DEFINITELY be donating ;)

Odie,
Did you have everything checked when you installed the program? When I had that 2nd option selected (the codec I can't remember), it never gave me that error message. Even with the error message, I haven't encountered any problems with my BDs, but so far I've only tried to convert HD material.

I get a smaller file size in x264 HQ Ultra than in Extreme. Shouldn't the opposite have happened.
HQ Turbo - fastest encoding with very good quality, out file size will be big.
HQ Ultra - optimal combination of speed/quality/size.
HQ Extreme - slowest mode, but file will be as small as it possible with HQ quality.
I'm doing for Ipod Touch
And what is the best settings to have lowest file size .. yet HQ quality.

Just started playing around with this as I want to save some apce whilst getting some good quality stuff.
I converted a movie from vob files (4.2gb) which ended up with a filesize of 670mb at quality q21 - looked great
I conveted a (albeit slightly longer) dvd-ms file from Media Center, which was originally 2.7GB and the resulting MP4 was still 2.7GB!
Why is this?
