Tnx winnydows, I'm always enjoying your updates.

I tried both 4.115 and 5.000, but I really don't understand the 5.000 interface. I guess that's just because it's new and i have to get used to it.

But for now, I like the old interface better. I'll get used to the new one soon enough:)

Hello!

XviD4PSP works fine with my administrator account, but today, I've created a limited user account for my son.

With this account XviD4PSP can't access "c:\temp\fake.avs", so I've created a folder "Temp" in drive "D:" (the limited account can access to "D:" drive), but when I open a video (directory "D:\Mes vidéos\XXX.avi") the video is flipped vertically!!!!

I didn't change any setting but temp folder and destination folder.

I've switched to my administrator account, opened the same vidéo which is diplayed normally (no vertical flip)...

All the videos are flipped in limited user account.

I tried the setting "offset & flip" in "settings\video decoder configuration", but there's no changes.

Any idea???

Thanks...

Hi, the software is really nice but it gives me an error when I try to convert a video. This happens right after the first pass is completed. I took a screenshot of the error message.

I think need try private updates. Find me in Skype - winnydows. Today best time - I have time for tests.

@sergentrazor
5.0 work without codec problems (a lot thanks to FFmpegSource creator). So you don`t get flip if you have problems with codecs.

Hi all

I have just started using this program for the first time, and have come across a problem, hopefully someone can help me with it! When I load an Xvid file for conversion to iPod format, I get the following message:

DirectShowSource: I cant determine the frame rate of the video, you must use the "fps" parameter. (C:\Temp\preview.avs, line 1)

I have gone to the location specified, and there is a file called preview.avs there, but I have no idea what to do with it??? I have looked at the video file in Gspot and it says the splitter is Radlight Ogg Splitter, video decoder is Divx, audio decoder is Radlight Vorbis Decoder. Can someone help please???

Many thanks
Bigweed

Hey winnydows, nice work with the new interface in the 5+ versions. One quick question; is the pmp container format output gone? It's what I always used in the 4 series. Also, in the 5 series how do I make use of embedded subtitles in an mkv or ogm?

I realise that XVID4PSP doesn't natively support DVD subtitles, but is it possible to rip the subtitles via some other method and then combine them with a DVD input in XVID4PSP?

Hi, I'm new to all this. I've tried doing DVD Shrink w/all my movies that I own so that I can watch them on my PSP. Everytime I try to do it, it shrinks it and saves it. I followed the instructions as far as re authring them. The trouble is when I go to XVID and start the encoding I get error messages. On one PC it says it doesnt know what audio means and directs it to a temp folder .av1. On the second computer it gives me that one or sometimes it tells me its in access violation and the preview screen is all messed up.

Using v4114 on two machines running WinXP.
Machine 1 works fine.
Machine 2 - I open an MKV file and the first preview plays file, video and audio.

The MKV has two audio tracks.

If I leave it on track 1 (Japanese), everything works fine.

If I switch it to track 2 (English), the original preview plays fine (Japanese audio still, but machine 1 also does this, then uses the English track to transcode), but when I try to preview it in the "Main/Advanced/Info" window I get a message like "DirectShowSource couldn't open as video or audio FILENAME.OGG"

This works fine on my older, slower machine.

I tried DLing v4115 and 5.023 Beta - no help.

I tried re-installing K-Lite and now both versions can handle the files.

But I am going to stick with ver 4.1.1.5

I archive several TV shows, and I use Xvid4PSP to transcode them so that either 1 or 1/2 season of shows will fit on one DVD-R. It's so annoying to DL a 24 episode show that is just a little too big for one DVD-R.

I like it because I can set it for this aspect ratio, that resolution, and set the filesize to come out what I want.

On version 5 I managed to find the settings, but I can't find filesize at all, so I'll stick with the older one for now.
If I want to use trial and error to get the correct settings I'll use Pocket DivX.

Just my $0.25, and hardly worth that much.

Keep in mind that everytime I give advice about transcoding, this app comes up first in the conversation. :)

spent the last couple of hours testing out converters for my ipod touch and everything else is just crap. I'm serious, winnydows, this is by far the cleanest, most efficient and elegant solution around. can't believe it's free.

although it worked perfectly (at least on the tested resident evil dvdrip), I got a couple of questions;

- the touch could do 640x480, but the installed profiles use 480xX max, why is that?

- I actually changed that in the script since most of my tv shows and a lot of movies are 640 or below I figured it would speed up the transcoding process but in fact, an xvid (original size 640x272) that had the HQ Turbo profile applied did only 2fps compared to the same xvid using your unchanged HQ Turbo profile which did 30+fps. to me that doesnt make any sense. by removing resize from the avisynth script and therefore leaving the video dimensions untouched it should lessen the transcoding job and not increase it, right? meaning, it should be a lot faster than when resize is applied.....

- finally, a bit of a n00b question....there is no way to just take all xvids (my understanding is, it's a mpg4 codec too) and repack them into another container than avi and have them play on the ipod touch without having to transcode everything, right?

cheers for now. keep up the amazing work!

Thanks for the software update Winnydows, I will update my 5.023 version as soon as my encoding is done here ;)

I was searching for a conversion tool to convert WMV-HD files encoded with the WVC1 video and WMA Professional 10 audio codecs to MPEG-4/AVC files that can be played from the internal hard drive of the PS3.

Currently, I got the best results with Xvid4PSP using the MP4 PS3 profile "X264 2P 4000k Extreme" :) Picture Quality is almost the same as with my original WMV-HD files

Most of the WMV-HD files are encoded in 720p @ 24fps and they are recognized very well in Xvid4PSP, however with 1080p @ 24fps WMV-HD files Xvid4PSP stops after encoding approx. 1h58mins

Maybe I should downscale 1080p to 720p to overcome this problem? Some of my 1080p WMV-HD video files have 1920x1040 pixels and not 1920x1080 pixels.

Can you please help me how I should downscale 1920x1040 to 720p without loosing the aspect ratio of my source file?
Should I downcale 1920x1040 to 1280x720 with black bars or to 1280x693 without black bars?

Is it TRUE that a PS3 with FW1.93 is NOT capable of playing MPEG-4/AVC files >4GB from the internal hard drive? I can copy files >4GB to the internal hard drive but cannot play them :(

Thanks,
Fico

4gb limit is true.
I think better way fit to 4gb without bitrate down lower than 4000 is 1280xX downscale without black bars. Aspect In Out combos helps you save source aspect.

I've got a problem. I've been using Xvid4PSP to encode videos for my iPod Touch for a while with great success, but just recently the audio encoding (neroencaac.exe) is crashing everytime I try it. This is a great video converter for the ipod touch, but one thing Ive noticed is that the video is rather jumpy with lossed frames. It gets better when I put it to lossless, but the file size is huge and its still not very good. This doesnt happen when im using other converters.

On both the ipod and pc. But now that I look at it again, when the frame drops it actually makes sort of a shaking effect in the video for about a second. The audio is fine though. Ive also tried using different decoders/encoders and different input formats, so this is a core problem.

Hello, and thanks to anyone involved in this excellent tool.

The screenshots on page 1 of this thread show Nero as the audio encoding tool with the ability to select ABR mode as an encoding option. This now seems to be removed.

I was wondering why or is VBR or ABR now used as default? And is Nero still the default encoder? The sound quality is very important to me and I would like to use at least ABR if possible.

CBR appears to be the current default.

Thanks for any clarification..

Edit - Sorry,I was using and older version.Just discovered version 5 and all is clear now. Thanks again to all involved. Fantastic tool!

Hi!

Thanks for the hard work! I really enjoy using XviD4PSP.

However, I've been having several issues with XviD4PSP_5025_beta (update installed) that were not present with 5024.

1) Unable to see the divx video I'm trying to re-encode from the preview window
2) Unable to start an encoding session remotely using Window XP remote desktop; x264 never starts!?
3) Hanging during 2nd pass
4) Unable to start 2nd pass (due to process not being present?)

Every time, I try to convert a 704x396 divx6 with mp3 192kbps using the "X264 2P 768k Ultra" profile.

Edit: So I've finally been able to encode what I had to encode; issue #3 or #4 did not occur. Not sure what triggers these issues; could it be related to the fact that I'm multitasking while encoding?

I am missing the "send to/copy to" commands from the old versions.

Blame PSP's LCD. (It cannot be fixed by encoder)

Really? Do UMD movies also have this problem as well?

Yes, but it's covered up because they either adjust the levels dynamically with the UMD Player in the PSP or they encode the movies within the levels that cause less of that ghosting.

Basically, I think you can duplicate it by just using PC -> TV color settings when encoding. The problem is that your blacks will no longer be dark black but more of a grey.

In v5.0 there no longer seems to be a tool called the "Thumbnail creator". Was that deleted?

Fixed again, I forgot that I had re-installed the K-Lite Codec Pack. Just re-installed Xvid4PSP again and the issue was resolved. I also love the option to add in Subs when encoding.
