Yeah I figured it out. I was only doing a test of a small 1:40 minute chapter. When I did the whole movie it went down to like 350 kbps from 650. So is do you even have to change settings in x264?
It's for setting advanced options, not bitrate.

Use Haali splitter and ffdshow for decoding.

Check the subtitle options in ffdshow.

Alright so I checked the option for subtitles in ffdshow, I even supplied the path for them and nothing shows up in the movie. I ave Haali installed and ffdshow. What am I doing wrong. I can't even mux together a MP4 AVC with the .SRT file.

Any chance of supporting HDTV ts files?
I'd like to know it too.

I'd like to know it too.
Well i don't have access to any HDTV ts files so i can't do any testing.
If i had even a small sample (trailer) i could probably find a way to automate the process.

With Haali nothing has to get enabled in ffdshow :)

I'm over it. I needed permanent subs anyway. So now I have some bug reports.
All of these are random so I can not reproduce it:
1) If I'm encoiding a video and it is on the compressing audio stage it used to freeze. I have yet to experience it with the new verisons, but it sill may be there.
2) Happnened two nights ago. The encoding froze on the first pass, but the program was fully responsive. EVerything was working ti just stopped encoding, but acted like it was.
3) Happened 5 minutes ago. I awoke to hopefully a complete 2nd try of Return of the King and when I get there it says MP4Box has performed an illegal operation and must close. Damn it was so close. When I tried playing the movie, it still made one, it said it was not a valid movie file.
The last two are on 0.19 and the first was on somewhere around 0.15.

If you set X264 settings that are compatible with the psp you can use AutoAC.
If you allready now the specs for PSP-mp4 i can make something like a profile for quick selection.
Synergy37
22nd September 2005, 21:33
Yeah a profile sounds nice. It just needs to be at a screen size of a multiple of 116 and no more than 76800 pixels squared. With your autocrop function here are the widths I use right now.
2.40:1 Movie = 384 Width
2.35:1 Movie = 432 Width
1.85:1 Movie = 384 Width
For other settings I just use make it 420 mb. It comes out very nice. If you make a new release and put in a quick selection for PSP I'll test it and give you some feedback of what more is needed and what is good.

Hi,
I am cheking out the AutoAC to encode a DVD for streaming via Darwin. I encoded a file and added 2 hint tracks using mp4creator, and copied it to streaming server directory. I am able to watch the movie using latest snapshot of vlc, but not with quicktime. I guess this has to do with some settings of x264. any idea which settings to enable/disable to get to stream to quicktime clients.
After optimising the file using mp4creator -optimize streaming using http from apache (played using quicktime plugin) works well.
Commands I used are:
mp4creator -hint=1 Desktop.mp4
mp4creator -hint=2 Desktop.mp4
mp4info Desktop.mp4
mp4info version 1.3.5
Desktop.mp4:
Track Type Info
1 video H264 Main@4, 97.760 secs, 421 kbps, 704x304 @ 25.000000 fps
2 audio MPEG-4 AAC LC, 97.856 secs, 84 kbps, 48000 Hz
3 hint Payload H264 for track 1
4 hint Payload mpeg4-generic for track 2

Hi, yesterday I've installed AutoAC 0.20, with all latest software.
I've got a prob: it doesn't open IFO files..
It says: "No IFO file selected".
I rip DVDs with DVD Decrypter 3.5.4.0, and I am sure they are correct IFO files.
Just for a try, I ripped Matrix, the movie and the specials, because I knew they worked well with other software, but this does't read them.
Is there any known problem about this?
Thanks.

You reckon this would work in a VMWare Session?
Reason I ask is I have no idea what files/codecs etc are installed on this current install of XP.
Granted VM Session would be slower, I have 2gig of ram so ram wont be a problem, just cpu ;)
Anyway I reckon it'll work, just makes it easier to have the right versions and no conflicts.
Thanks for the 1 click solution, cbf laerning all the switches and doing it manualy atm ;)

No idea, give it a try.
Well it works but you can't pause the virtual machine to say reboot the host :P
Whenyou resume cpu usage goes to 100% but nothing gets done, this might be because the source files were on a network share (i didn't bother making a virtual disk big enough and adding it), I reckon that when I resume, vmware isn't quick enough to re-establish the network connections and open evrything up again. It might work if everyting is local....
Will ty that next, but there is no reason why this can't be done in a vm session.
Cheers ;)

Got an answer to this from one guy in Apple after I posted it in quicktime list.
I believe that means the timecode in the file is corrupt. The same thing occurs
with most VLC captures. If you have a Mac available and the Apple MPEG-2
component installed ($30) you can use MPEG Streamclip for this purpose. It
works nicely - no corruption.

make sure to use the latest versions of avi2raw and mp4box (which are not the ones linked to in the first post here), but i would assume that the linked versions already create correct timecodes and the problem is caused by quicktime

Hi mezzanine!
I haven't worked with AutoAC for quite a while, so I have a question: does it use the VFW or CLI version of x264?

Hi mezzanine!
I haven't worked with AutoAC for quite a while, so I have a question: does it use the VFW or CLI version of x264?
Itīs the vfw version. He could use x264.exe and xvid_encraw.exe, but then he has to create a gui inside AutoAC for them :(

if you want to use the cli version, use MeGUI.. it does one click encoding as well ;)

It's been a long time and this gui is so outdated, have to drop vfw and add vobsubs (that'a already implemented actually, i just need to add the mux parameters).
I am considering picking it up again.
Mod please move this thread to mpeg4 encoding guis forum, thanks.

I am getting a strange error.
Aac worked for me(i.e. opened for me) when i first installed it.
Since i did not have any dvd with me at that time. I never tested it.
Now are a month or so when i try using it it gives me a strange error
screen is attached.
I redownloaded the program and reinstalled it but to no avail.
Then i downloaded dot.net 2 and installed it too.
I even downlooad .net framework 1 service pack and installed it but to no avail.
Please help
