Ok, will change that on the next release, in the meantime people can rename avi2raw.exe to avi2raw60.exe to get the GUI working.

I think this new "AutoAC" application should have it's own thread?

Perhaps bond could get it right this time :D

Saw your sreenshot: Hybrid gain is not ok for aac in BeSweet. You have to choose pregain and normalizationn to 100% :) See discussion with kurtnoise in the BeLight threat.

The gui does not output aac directly from besweet. It does normalization, dynamic range control, dplii downmix and outputs to wav, faac does the aac compression.

i seem to just get to the first part where it starts to scanning the dvd files, and it just freezes there and under processes it shows its not responding and is taking up 100% cpu power :(

EDIT: i now know you cant use spaces in folder name, i changed the name of the folder and it is ok now :)

EDIT2: now it stops after the audio encoding and gives an error window.

also i cant open the X264 tab to config the codec setting, this is probably the reason for above. dont know why,the tab clicks down but nothing opens. if i go into vdub and open the codec tab it opens fine and i can open the x264 codec and set the thing up there ok.

I don't understand one thing:
what's the x.264 settings for? you said it is a one-click solution. Does this mean that if I check "single pass - bitrate" it will only use 1 pass or what? I have to decide the advanced settings my self? Is the aac stereo or 5.1?

No, it's always a 2-pass encode, you can change x264 like b-frames etc. AAC is stereo

p.s. One-click meaning easy and everything is done automatically. If it was literally one-click you would only start the gui i suppose (no, sorry even that needs a double-click) :).

this is what I get from MKVmerge:
Error: 'D:\DVD Temp 2\jay-z.mp4': The video track does not start with a key frame but contains B frames. This is not supported.
And BSPlayer gived me this error:
List index out of bounds (0)

Could something be wrong with your GUI? Why is this happening? I have the latest ffdshow and I also have the 3ivX decoder pack which contains a mp4 splitter, right? I also have nero showtime and nero media player.

I don't think there's something wrong with the GUI, i'm using standard procedures to create mp4 files with AVC/AAC streams.
3ivX splitter does not support AVC in mp4 streams yet.
Try Osmo4 player from GPAC project, Mplayer or the LATEST nero showtime.
Did you manage to encode video and audio with my gui ?

Did you manage to encode video and audio with my gui ? [/B]
Yes, I had no problems encoding the video/audio. I only have problems with the decoding part.
3ivX splitter does not support AVC in mp4 streams yet.
Yes, I've found that out the hard way.
Try Osmo4 player from GPAC project, Mplayer or the LATEST nero showtime.
I already got the latest nero showtime, but it says
Due to patent license restrictions, H.264/AVC decoding is not available. This feature can be added by installing the Nero 6 Ultra Edition retail package or the Web version. Could this be because I updated the Nero OEM package that came with my DVD Writer? I'm getting Osmo4 now.

Do you think you can add an option to select the output container yourself, with choises like
1 .mp4
2 .mkv
3 .avi
? that would be more than nice.
edit: tried oslo4 and it didn't work. It just froze to death.

mezzanine
5th March 2005, 19:17
AVC in avi is not a good idea, MP4 is the way to go.
There are other tools to output x264 in avi or mkv.

Make sure you download the latest osmo4 build
you can find it here:
http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/gpac
or mplayer found here:
http://www.aziendeassociate.it/cd.asp?dir=/mplayer

PLEASE!!! Can you promise me you'll add another container for output in your future builds? I have AVC in avi and it works perfect!
Pretty please? I can't sleep tonight if you don't tell me yes or no...:D

bond
5th March 2005, 20:16
avc-in-avi is not perfect at all
you will get dummy frames in the stream, which dont belong there, you will loose frames and you will get a delay between audio and video in .avi (especially with the new b-frame mode in x264, which allows the useage of b-frames as references)

learn how to use .mp4 or .mkv (you can easily transmux from .mp4 to .mkv with mkvmerge) and learn to stop being used to .avi ;)

ok i run kaspersky and after shutting it down, i did get the codec window to pop up once. now after re-opening AutoAC it wont open again, even with AV off?

i set the codec to defaults the first time, and it ran all the way through, but i still get this:

Found total frames of the movie: 0

right after the crop avs is made, this is on 2 different dvd sources?
also if i choose "automatic resolution" the program errors at "System.IO.FileNotFoundException: File 'E:\!DVDs_Decrypted\smalldvdfortesting\movieonly.avi' not found.", but if i choose the res myself then it runs all the way to the end. but its not finding any frames so i dont know?

its not autocrop as it runs through ok with that on or off,its only when i check auto resolution that i get that error.

i am running on an A64 amd setup if that makes any difference.

EDIT: i ran the same exact files, dvd source, on my Athlon1800+ server box and it all went as it should. i now have a .mp4 result which works in nero showtime2. so its my main encoding box which is the problem, but both systems are running winXPsp2, both have kaspersky AV/outpost firewall etc.. codec config box opens fine aswell on the server box.

damn and its no good as i cant run these encodes on that box as its used for other things. and its way way way slower than my a64 setup.

i will keep looking tho and let you know if i find the problem, heres the log from the server:

I wish i had an A64 to test the gui, i only have a poor old celeron@1800. I can't find out what's wrong, i suppose it's avs2avi maybe you could help me out and try to do some encodes from cli and see what's going on with it, if you don't know how to do it send me a pm and i'll send you a small guide.
Thanks you are really helping me here, i don't know if you are the only one using my gui or the only one that had problems so far.

Pretty please? I can't sleep tonight if you don't tell me yes or no...:D

You can use GK for avi or mkv containers, but as bond said you should not mux AVC in avi, mkv is a very good container if you want to avoid MP4. I would like to have the option of container selection but that takes time and my free time is limited.
There are many players capable of MP4 playback with AVC/AAC and if they don't work for you i'm sure a directshow splitter with AVC support will be available soon.

I tested out AutoAC build 030205 with a 93 minute movie. I first analyzed it with DGIndex and found that it was 29.97 fps, FILM, progressive. So I checked the "Forced Film" option in AutoAC and left everything else on the default. After about an 8 or 9 hour encode, I opened the resulting video in Media Player Classic to find that it had 93 minutes of audio, but only 74 minutes of video. So the video had the correct number of frames for a 23.976 fps video, but it was being played at 29.97 fps. I've been using Gordian Knot to make XviD and x264 videos for a while, and have never had this problem. Was this a bug in the program or something I did wrong?

Maybe it would help to demux the video from mp4 and remux it with the correct framerate. If the videostream-number is 1 or 3 (you can easily check this with mp4ui) you can load the video to mp4muxer (http://mp4muxer.movie2digital.com/) and he will do all this for you automatically. You just have to set a flag to 29.97 in the settings dialog :)

You probably did something wrong because if it was 29.97 it's not film, film is 23.976. You should have left it to auto, that way the d2v is analyzed and if it is film for more than 94% a new d2v is created with force film.
AutoAC does set the frag for framerate when muxing.

But just to be sure i will have a look at my code and double-check that the flag for film during muxing is working.
