So the strange "buttoncolors" that I am getting could be because i'm using Scenarist 3.0???

Tore
25th April 2004, 02:51
Just tried reencoding the menu of Starwars ep2 (Pal, region2).
This time i rebuildt with Scenarist 2.7.

The colors of the highlightlayer is better with scenarist 2.7 than with 3.0. So i am going to stick with 2.7 in the future i think.

Going to try a couple of more dvds later, now its time to go to bed.

im using dif4u 1.4.7.0 and numenu4u and im trying to backup the movie back to the future. the 1st dvd of the new boxset.

(i tried searching for it, if anyone else had problems but it finds too many threads that are not relevent)

when it goes to nm4u it just sits there with 100% processor after it demuxes vts_01

dif4u says opening numenu4u!

then nothing happens... i have followed the guide here perfectly... i even double checked everythign and there is alot to check in all the different programs!

http://www.doom9.org/index.html?/mpg/scenaid.htm

i hope someone can help.... if im supposed to make a new thread ill do that...

It's probably fieldorder.exe.
Just kill the fieldorder prosess in taskmananger, numenu4u will then continue.

Just tried reencoding the menu of Gangs of New York (PAL, region2).
This dvd contains 3 menues.
VTS_01_0.VOB --> 240mb
VTS_02_0.VOB --> 035mb
VTS_04_0.VOB --> 270mb

The original M2V files in the DEMUXED folder is 2.6mb in size. The reencoded MPV files is between 3.9 - 4.3mb in size.

Using CCE 2.66(latest ECLCCE), and one pass with 1800 as average bitrate.
Or should i use Multipass instead of onepass???

My problem is that the finished menu in VST_04_04.VOB is aprox 400mb big. Almost the doble size of the original menu.
How is that possible??

Am I doing something wrong?

D3s7
25th April 2004, 17:02
Personally if your doing a bitrate of 1800 I'd do at least 3 passes but that's just for quality

Try checking the "re-encde interlaced as progressive" see if that helps with your file sizes

Post the size if you can of the originalfiles and re-encoded here if you could...

Tore
25th April 2004, 20:43
When i reencoded the VTS_04_0.VOB menu with variable bitrate, the encoded menu was correct.

The size was redused from 400 to 130mb. So now i'm satisfied.

Trahald
26th April 2004, 00:25
with the one pass option, average isnt used.. only the q-factor which results in unknown size.. i have mine set to 45 which reduces the menus nicely. average only is a factor for multipass and roba.

the one pass is good for a quicker numenu process. q = 45 should always get smaller menus but not gauranteed.

Thanks again for the new version! Found a new problem with selected buttons color, already sent email with screenshots, script, subs and IFOs. The previously problematic Donnie Darko menu looks perfect now, however.

The menu with the color problems mentioned above was also special in that the video streams were field picture coded (as opposed to frame pictures). Because for field picture streams the TFF flag is always zero, the field order was incorrectly judged to be BFF. I had to manually set offset_line=0 in the ECL files. As far as I can see you are now using my modified version of DVD2AVI with the logging function. I'll post a new version that will generate a log file that you can use to correctly judge BFF/TFF for field picture streams.

As suggested earlier, could you please consider removing the "Quality Setting" and "Matrices" options from the CCE options? I have to manually turn off the damn filters in the ECL files every time :) Instead, please provide adjustment of quality_prec and GOP size.

I have noticed that when using multipass VBR, quality_prec is set to a too low value of 3 in the ECL. I don't think this was intentional...

Each bitmap is now analysed, and if no image is present (ie a full
blue screen) then this sub is removed from the script;

I checked and this is done even when there is a button for such "empty" sub. Hmmm, not good. It didn't cause a problem with this particular menu (Donnie Darko) because there is just an invisible button during menu transistions (pressing enter aborts/skips the transistion). But consider Finding Nemo (going to try that next) with the virtual aquarium feature in the menu. When you click that the screen shows only the menu background (beautiful BTW :) ) and there's a transparent button covering the entire screen that will take you back to the menu. I suspect this button/sub will be removed in this version... going to test.

Thanks!

Try selecting a different directory to demux to and see if that helps

i also have the same problem, but looks to me as if it's an audio problem from the log "audio process: check audio source (line 22)" ;)

i did this yesterday so forgotten a few things, but, numenu said it couldn't locate a track (think it was first audio track) and i needed to load script into scenarist manually, but that failed... any suggestions?

i can run again and provide any stuff required for a fix zeul ;)

cheers for the program :)

it's probably something really stupid but i can't seem to figure it out.

using dif4u 1.4.7 w/ numenu scenarist ed., cce sp trial 2.66.01.07 eclcce v1.8b that came with numenu. followed the new big 3 guide. numenu completes the demuxing and vobsubbing and launches cce

this is what i get from cce:

couldn't find appopriate video codec for 'YV12'

and then after i hit ok it gives me the 2nd window:

vinfo_open() failed: *** Could not open the file <X:\lost\D_VTS_01_0\FRAMESERVING\007.vaf> ***
The system cannot find the file specified.

[Windows error code: 0x2 2

it's an amd box running xp sp1

the funny thing is i somehow got it to work once before but it froze at the stage of importing it into scenarist (maybe because i'm still using 2.6?)

please let me know if i need to pull anything from the log.

I wan't to author my motion menues using dvd lab and export it as dvd folder

reauthor and load to Scenarist

Please help advising NuMenu4u settings & suggestions

D3s7
3rd May 2004, 21:50
If your authoring in DVDLab, then why would you need to use numenu?

Lex55
4th May 2004, 18:00
It's much easier to create motion menues using dvd lab

import to scenarist to Author with a better Authoring system.

D3s7

Again... if your using DVDLab to make menus, why reauthor with NuMenu..

I don't know dvdlab but, I dont think that create motion menues
with scenarist is complicated if you got it once.
If you use only one programm you wont get problems which the other programms come with.

@fourtyfour
If you mean DTS streams in the main video play, then yes. If you mean DTS streams in the menu - then no. I have never seen a menu with DTS audio. From the files you have sent me, i can see that the ifo was not properly updated - this would result in no other sub or audio streams being selected (even though the button commands were correct). Did you run NuMenu4u with full scenarist control or update the ifo later?
@AlanPartridge
This error seems to be a common one, and it (and others) is being caused by a problem in the way NuMenu4u handles more than 1 BMP per cell. The latest build addresses this, but requires a bit more testing before a public release.
@Sn8kbordin
Not seen this before, please send me the script - see pm

Hm, maybe Iīll do the movie again.
Iīm a little bit confused by the sum of ifo files on my dvd folder :)
Possible, that I sent you the wrong ifos.

Iīll do the movie again.

You need:

--- Ifos created after NuMenu4U (have to start that before DIF4U, cause of an runtime error mentioned on other movies in this thread)
--- Original ifos.

Am I right?

Hi
I downloaded NuMenu4u Scenarist Version from this location:
http://numenu4u.users.btopenworld.com/setup.exe

is this the latest version?
I had a little problem because the eclcce of numenu4u tells me
that my cce version is not supported yet. I'm using CCE-SP 2.67.00.27
and it works with eclcce 1.81 in batchcce fine.

Another problem I have is that the option re-encode ac3 streams is grey.
Can't check it. I'm using scenarist 3.

Zeul

Yes this is the latest build. I didn't know that there was a more upto date eclcce. Just copy & paste eclcce.exe and the dll into the install folder. Re-enocde AC3 streams has been disabled at the moment so that is why you cannot select it.
