it seems that the problems that are ocurring are closer to home and should not always be put onto ic
chris
Did you have success with any of the movies people report as problems?

I struggled with IC and DVD95Copy only to find that my machine setup was the real problem. After a crash and fairly thourough restore job, the problems have disappeared - same software. Often times softwares maybe conflicting with other software. This happens more often than people think.

EDIT: I finally gave up on IC, for THIS title only, and used DVD95Copy in conjunction with Ifoedit. I finally have a backup now.

I experienced a strange msg telling me IC couldnt process CSS from disc while i most certainly stripped it. The main movie encoded just fine just the extra material caused this problem. I reripped the whole disc to hdd but no difference. Does anyone had similiar problems with other Disney titles perhaps?
From what i can tell the problem is centered around the DVD player game that is included on the disc.
Other than that i must say i encoded over a hundred movies with no errors whatsoever so far *knocks-on-wood*.
SmartRipper is definately the #1 choice followed by vStrip for specific PBC ripping :P

I'm having a heck of a time trying to use IC on Signs: Special Edition (R1). Either it will hang when analyzing some part of the menu structure, or if I set the menu to 100%, it hangs at the very end of the job, around 97-99%. Has anyone tried this movie with success?

Falves I did Signs Region 2
But first I had to remove MultiAngle in VTS_9 with IfoEdit or IC would report (Corrupt DVD) when trying to load the movie into IC.
I Don't know if its the same with Region 1 but since the MultiAngle is in VTS_9 and there only was 10 VTS I would suspect that this can have something to do with your problem.
Just load VIDEO_TS.Ifo in IfoEdit and check if you have multiangles in any VTS
Hope this helps some !

Drubbel,
The version of Signs I have is definitely different than yours. Mine has 15 VTSs, but I think you're on to something about a multi-angle issue. My version does have multi-angle features in one of the extras, so this could be part of the problem...
I hope Pinnacle looks into some of these more obscure issues with IC. Obviously, if you start removing titles from your backups, that could cause problems. But I always leave in all titles; I just choose different compression settings for different title sets so I can maximize the quality of the movie itself.
In theory, I would think that as long as all pieces of the disc are present and all you're doing is transcoding the video to a smaller size, it should function with no problems. Unfortunately, I'm not an expert DVD author and not a programmer, so I can only hope that those who are (hello Pinnacle experts) can fix these issues in a future release! :p

Falves you dont have to remove any Titels to make this work !
You just need to open the IFO for the VOB that contains the MultiAngle in IfoEdit and then click on Strip Stream.
Then on the next screen dont touch anything exept :
Check remove Angle mark and choose what Angle to keep next to the check.
Nothing more just these simple steps, then just check everything that you want to keep on the next screen Audio/subtitles.
After that you will get a strip VOBId screen where IFOEDIT automaticly will choose right Angle VOBId to keep and the rest unchecked !!
And thats all just try it Im sure you will get it to work.
After Ifoedit corrects everything and makes the new vob/ifo/bup-files
copy them to your old Signs Directory and replace the old files with new ones.
End of Story
;)
I have done this on many MultiAngle Titles using this method and it always worked for me I have also watched some of the movies after this and all where working correct on my standalone.

Was able to copy Reservoir Dogs using Instant Copy. Had same problems as everyone, it would crash when it got to minute 45 of the movie. THe problem is that there is a 20 second total black screen, pause in the movie, at this point. IC cant cope with this.
HOWEVER I did copy the movie using IC, first off the movie is the 10th aniversery special, Wide Screen Disc.
I took out spanish subtitles, and directors commentary. I also took out a mini-documentry that was in the movie. It was kind of like the behind the scenes, but it went back to the filming location with a home cam and began to shoot....
YADA YADA YADA, i took that out, left the trailers and other small stuff.
THe compression level of the movie itself was 95%, the other extras I left in were at 50%.
Title menu at 100%.
All fit on 1 disc. All went flawlessly.

Crashed at 98% right after the "THE END"!
I tried:
-ISO from DVDDecr (1:1 copy)
-ISO from DVDDecr (stripping titles)
-File mode from SMARTRipper (1:1 copy)
-IFOedit stripping everything down to bare minimum (movie only)
-IFOedit subtracting the last VOBids (after the "THE END" segment)
I am planning on trying a "file mode" from DVDDecr (on 1:1 copy) some other time, but at the moment only crashes for this film (only other option split to 2 dvds)
After "THE END" there is a 3 minute black period and then 4 minute of soundless clips this could be the problem but stripping their IDs did not help (I might have done it incorrectly through IFOedit!)
yes, you are correct, the problem is the long pause of black. IC stops working and thinks there is an error when it encounters this. just like on simpsons season 2, disc 4. search the forums for "simpsons" and you will see MisterX's fix. it should work for you too.
