What was the error msg? Something like "List index out of Bounds"? If so, I believe that is caused by a VOBID not referenced in the .IFO.

for the people above with problems
are you all ripping the COMPLETE DVD using DVDDecypter in File mode or Smartripper in the same mode?
are you leaving the ripped files and then opening Instantcopy?
are you doing a complete 1:1 using InstantCopy

If the answer is yes to all 3 questions then sorry I cannot offer advice aprt from checking the actual settings in your ripping program are correct

If you think they are then post your settings and maybe I or someone else can help

what you ripped with and what settings
did u mod files before using IC
what you have stripped using IC
what % settings on movie etc
fault it showed or how it crashed & when
any other info you can think of

I think DVDDecrypter is the better ripping program in File mode, no problems for me since I began using it ages & ages ago

If you are actually modifying files before using IC I have found that using the delete playback button in ifoedit causes problems for IC as it displays the Out Of Bounds warning

I first came across OOB when I deleted the warning/logo/trailers etc using DELETE PLAYBACK in ifoedit after ripping, (the shortcut way)

removing anything using the delete playback in ifoedit InstantCopy will display OOB warning as it firstly checks all ifo's and using this button makes the ifo file incorrect somehow

yet if you play the DVD using PowerDVD it's ok and will probably still play in a standalone aswell but basically IC don't like it

to delete all the usual intros at the beginnning, 1st find the VOB ID using either ifoedit preview or vobrator and remove the VOB ID's using the Menu/VOB extras buttons and strp them so it rebuilds the VOB's and updates the IFO/BUP files

It's best to make backups of the files you are modifying (IFO/BUP/VOB), just in case it doesn't work properly. This is just in case it goes wrong you can always rebuild the DVD without ripping again

Personally I think it's better to strip everything out 1st (audio/subs/unwanted VOB ID's) using ifoedit, making sure it's all ok to play then use InstantCopy to do the compression bit as I think IC has problems stripping the DVD

Everything has worked great so far and it also seems to give a better size result at the end as using IC to strip audio & extras seems to give mixed size results

I know it's extra work but at least you get a working DVD at the end of it without the worry of will it work or not if I use IC

hope this helps anyone who does use delete playback button

I agree valnar is right if the file is really small, just remove it after, obviously you have to extract the PDI file before burning to do this(also recommended)

but for the DVD's that insist on playing a whole load of rubbish before getting to the main menu, these extra few MB's I would rather remove 1st and let IC have more space to work with

If IC crashes during processing but then returns to the Device Selection window, will it let you click on the Details button and if so does it say anything in the LOG tab?. I get this below when I cancel manually

just asking, nothing else, to see if it keeps a record while it is running

If I close the program using Task manager, when I restart it, it states' an abnormal program termination has left temporary files' and ask if I want to delete them

Its referring to the PDI files but could it also be the Log file?

I click no then goto Details and there is no Log Tab option!, but this is a forced shutdown of IC so I'm wondering if the Log is still there during a 'normal' crash or can you access it before opening IC and if it is does it say why it stopped?

and does anyone know exactly what the Processing tab is for?(is it just relating to the burning?)

or could it be for problem discs as when you click on NEW button it gives a list of Exclude, Mark Error, Patch, Skip Track

Hi,

I copied both disks of Spidey RC2. No real problems at all. The only oddity was, that IC bawks, if you try to reduce the quality of title 25 (or was it 26? one of the music titles) below 45%.

I copied everything of disk1 except the trailers (deselected in IC) and everything on disk2 except the french menus (ripped before IC with IfoEdit).

Cheers,

Rush Hour2 R1 Crashes at about 78%
The Great Mouse Detective R1

Both ripped w/ Decrypter in ISO (Complete DVD)
I then mount each(depending on which I am IC'ing) via DAEMON tools. Tested to make sure the ISO played and menus worked fine.

Mouse Detective: I tried a complete 1:1 copy since it was small enough, using the auto % compress. I removed all languages and subs except English.

RH2: I did remove the last 2 groups (6 & 7 I think) Bumped the main movie % compress to ~80%. Removed all sound trackes except Dolby5.1 and only kept english language and subs.

I'll try it again and make note of all settings.

arggggggghhhhhhhhhhh!

do not use IC to remove Titles, are people not listening? :D

especially the last few ones as these contain the logos etc and if they are missing the DVD goes t''s up!

what do they contain?

ravenone_2000
3rd March 2003, 01:31
Titles 79-80 Are the LOTR trailer preview
Title 81 is an Indee Film about something in New York.

One last question, if I use IfoEdit to remove the titles while the files are all in VOB type files, how do I get them back to ISO?

MackemX
3rd March 2003, 01:39
which version of DVD Decrypter are you using, I use 3.1.4.0@ default and rip in file mode selecting all files

then I would goto the ifo/VOB which has the trailer in and delete only the VOB ID (VOB extras, not delete playback) that refers to the trailer, nothing else. If it has 5 vob ID's but only one reference to the VOB ID for trailer delete just the one VOB ID, not all 5

then use PowerDVD to check all is ok when it get's to the bit you have removed

or just take that chance IC will do it for you :)

can I ask how many VOB ID's the trailer VOB has, and how many trailers there are in the VOB?

I totally agree!!!

This "registry hack" thing DOESN'T WORK CORRECTLY!!! If this feature works correctly, it will be available when you install the program for the first time. Why would Pinnacle like to hide such option?

I'm using 3.1.4.0 also, with the defaults(except I use Brute Force/CSS selection)

I'll have to wait to check the ID's since IC is running on the ISO file right now and I don't want to do another RIP to possibly interrupt IC. Hopefully IC will work this time :)

BTW, per your previous post, there is not an ability to go into IC and look at the log like you were getting during a manual cancel.

p.s. Thanks for all the help in trying to trouble shoot this and everyone else problems w/ IC.

hooray, someone agrees

maybe they did initailly plan on having it included but found it to be too buggy, so removed the feature but still released it until they sort out the problem

they advertise 1:1 backups not 0.99999:1 so unchecking even one Title containing a logo may have consequences depending on the contents of that VOB

Some VOB's contain more than one VOB ID, yet only seem to have one video scene, uncheck it in IC and it removes all VOB ID's and sometimes confuses the DVD player when it looks for missing VOB ID's

I cannot stress this enough

If you talking about the "Force CSS present" option, then no I don't have it checked. I have just the "Brute Force -> I/O Key Exchange" checked under the CSS Cracking Method.

p.s. The movie is at 67% now and finished the main movie without a crash. So, if the crash happens again, it is probably as you mention, a problem with removing the last two Title Sets.
