Chroma motion estimation?
Dark-Cracker
25th November 2002, 08:58
hi,
i don't use the chroma motion with the new option on xvid because i don't know when use it (it seems to me it used for the anime).
i have added the B-frame offset be cause i don't know the correct value to use (i have let the default value 100).
Bye.

By default (without chrominance ME), only luminance values are used in motion estimation - that's standard for most codecs AFAIK. IThat's kinda like a b/w picture was used for detecting motion. Using chroma values generally makes ME more precise. This is especially meaningful for animation as you can imagine but it helps with any source.

It seems that the more HQ and high-res the encode is, the more effective chroma ME becomes (check out my "benchmark" thread in HDTV section). But when quantizer value is increased, the difference becomes neligible again :-(
@Teegedeck: please confirm that the videostream remains fully MPEG4 ISO compatible. If it is, then maybe we can have chroma ME enabled by default for ME=6. The speed hit isnt that big.

The Standalone DVD&DIVX player can only read MPEG-4 ISO compatible AVI's ( Simple Profile, + B-Frames).
And it read XviD encoded with Chroma=On very well.
SO it suggest that the videostream remains fully MPEG-4 ISO compatible.

excellent software. One thing that would really be great is the addition of a more modular mp3 encoding system perhaps apart from besweet. I would love the program to be able to link to a LAME exe file and be able to send it commandline commands. I like to dabble with alpha versions of LAME and to use custom commandlines that people post on hydrogenaudio. Another variation to this would be to open up a mp3 directly without autodub even touching audio encoding and to mux that directly to the final avi. Even though I could do this very easily with avi_mux I just think one less step would be useful.
I can't wait till we have straight yv12 encoding all the way with this software.
Keep up the great work!

Not a good idea. The only ones you should use are these: http://www.hydrogenaudio.org/index.php?act=ST&f=15&t=203&s=

hi,
sorry for my late answer i only have internet when i come back in my house the week-end.
@Mango Madness
u can use the lame_enc.dll in the besweet directory, i have add the most important functions for lame like PSY or ATH and i think u could do a lot of tuning :) of course i regulary read the best settings for mp3 encoding on hydro. forum and i think the mp3 output give a great result. but perhaps i will try to add in other release the possibility to add custom command line or the possibility to mux directely an .mp3 file already encoded.
@tangent
autodub use it :) :) :)
@ookzDVD
still some problems in this release of divx , i will perhaps wait a fixed version (and i hope with the advanced settings removed in this release).
@majerle
i will fix this bug with oggmux in the next beta :) thank for the bug report.

It would be great if this software could also open avi files!
Do you think it would in futur?
Maybe there is already a way to do this, but I don't know how!?
Anyway I have a subscribsion to digital satellite tv and capture great recent movies in avi HQ and would like to be able to try use this software with those files!

This looks like a great program, but it won't let me change the input resolution. I'm converting a svcd and it says it is 480x480 when in reality it is 720x480. Gordon knot lets you select the PAL/NTSC and aspect ratio of the input and for that I shall continue to use it untill you have solved this problem. keep up the good work.

@OBcecado
Autodub support avisynth 2.5 as virtual dub support it..., just change mpeg2dec with mpeg2dec3, and change the varius supported filter. Always giving the old name to new dll. :p
@birdy
Well, will be a cool features. :cool:
@Mango Madness

@kairos
I haven't tryed a svcd to divx conversion, but have you tryed the 1:1 rapport ( and put the exact dimension). Btw a svcd isn't 480*576 ?

hi,
i correct a little mistake , the correct link is :
http://www.eclipsedvd.firstream.net/autodub/Autodub1.7_beta3.zip
(copy and paste was not always a good friend :) )
@OBcecado
i will wait all the filter were converted for avisynth2.5 to completely add the yv12 support. actually simply change vdub by vdubmod and the filters and u could edit the script before start to encode.
@birdy
i will try to add this feature :) a lot of people have asked for it , actualy u could open a .d2v file and once u have acces to the script editor change mpeg2sourc(...) by avisource(...).killaudio()
but u need to calc the bitrate manually and change by variating the desired file size. else wait i will add this feature.
(i will add a lowbitrate matrix made by trbarry i hope this will give u good result for tv encode)
@Mango Madness
i will add support of the koepi build 14-02-03 (with VHQ) as soon as possible. stay tuned.
@kairos
hum have try to switch beetween PAL/NTSC, ratio 1:1 allow u to put manual values . could u send a sample of your svcd (around 1Mo) to try to fix this bug ?
@majerle
very good answer :) i am not always on this thread to check the msg, and feel free to answer questions if i take time to answer.
yes i have correct my mistake in the url (wrong copy and paste :) )
to use custom matrix simply go in advanced settings for the xvid and instead of using H263 or MPEG, select MPEG Custom and this will enable the combo with the custom matrix (i have added 9 matrix).
if u want to add a new matrix edit the matrix.ini file , and increase the total number of matrix in the file and autodub will automaticly add it in the combo.

Still no AVI file import option :(
I was hoping for this option in the next release! But I guess we still have to wait.
@Dark-Cracker,
In one of your posts you explained how to open an avi, but it was not clear to me! Can you (or anyone who knows) explain this more clearly?
Should after opening a d2v file edit the avs file created or there is another script that should be edited?!!

Hmm..just tried this latest beta of yours and when in the final tab trying to edit my Avs -script and saving it (so far so good) but when starting encoding gives me some french error and closes the whole program. All I did was that I added:
LoadPlugin("C:\PROGRA~1\GORDIA~1\DustV5.dll")
and used
GoldDust()
And this script worked fine when I tried it with AVS2AVI both DivX 3.11 and Xvid 170302.
So why doesn't your software like Steadys Dust-filter or is it not allowed to add other filters to avs-script?

To the author of Autodub XP:
Is it possible to include a 'CUSTOM LAME COMMAND' in the Audio encoding tab?
Because I'm using the follow commandline for encoding the ac3 sound into mp3:
"BeSweet.exe" -core( -input "E:\file.ac3" -output "E:\file.mp3" ) -azid( -z1 -b1 -c normal -L -3db ) -ota( -hybridgain ) -lame( --r3mix )
So I can just put this 'raw' line into Autodub XP...
Can be very useful if you use f.e. latest (beta) BeSweet compiles that support new switches or something.
Would very appreciated :)
BTW your program rocks! Great results!

hi,
it seems to me -z1 and -b1 are useless because there are not supported in besweet (it for displaying information about stream).
i think the best solution is to create an audio profil : select the advanced audio panel and enable the switches : hybridgain, dynamic compression, and LFE to LR 3db, and --r3mix, and save this audio profil , next time u want to encode simply select your audio file and open your audio profil.
i think added the possibility to writte is hown commandline requiered too much erorcheck to work.
