just to let you know: I've another program that I liked to install but this error message poped up during installation...
"error: RPC.STUB incompatible, install will now terminate"
I fixed it...
This appears to be a common problem caused by Microsoft releasing a new dll that is not compatible with Win98. Some developers have made an installer which includes this dll, thereby destroying your system. Here is a fix:
Download: http://download.microsoft.com/download/msninvestor/Patch/1.0/WIN98/EN-US/mcrepair.EXE
Then run it, and when it prompts you to overwrite newer files, make sure you click YES for each file (not "No" or "No to all"). This will replace all of the 3.50 DLLs from XP with older versions compatible with Windows 98 (2.40.4515).
This patch works for Win98 users.
after installing this patch I managed to install my other application and - a miracle - autodub as well made no complainings when I tried to open it.
I hope this is a usefull hint for others.
thanks and cheers

hi darkcracker!
turning the usual sequence upside down. first the complaints and then the honey:
complaints
1: oh gOd this tool is ugly the structure and look makes me vomit
blinking text: IRONY - STUPID JOKE - IRONY - STUPID JOKE - IRONY - STUPID JOKE
2. codec-settings tab: the value for the quality in the bitrate calculator does not adjust to the resolution chosen in the video tab.
3. i'd like to ...
... set the denoise filter before the resizer
... use temoralsoften2 instead of temporalsmoother (faster)
... have a joblist
... have the filesize and bitrate of bitrate calc 'connencted' to file size field of xvid second pass and divx bitrate field
honey
thanks for the tool it is soooo great!
it seems to be quite mature now.
and, it makes my life much easier
convincing other guys to use xvid and
not to use strange tools like vidomi
support for ogm is planned, i hear.
whew thats really cool!

Hi Darkcraker,
One think which would be reqlly nice is the SimpleResize filter also,
much faster than bicubic, and nice results (input width limited to
factors of 4 though).
Thanks for your great tool !

About the latest Autodub 1.5,
I'm using Win2000, when I press "Parameters" for "Crop Movie" in the "video" section, I always get an error message like this :
"No suitable decompressor found for this video stream".

field deinterlace would be nice for the deinterlace options, if that cant be implemented, what is a good one to use?
Dark-Cracker
13th September 2002, 10:24
hi,
but u can use Decomb who give u some good result (it use fielddeinterlace) , deinterlaceQ was very speed and TomsMoComp was very good for the action movies (because it use motion compensation) i have use the CPU=0 (tomsmocomp(1,0,1) ).
in the final 1.6 version i will add blend=false for the decomb filter (the result will be more sharp) and put the cpu detection at 15 for tomsmocomb. just wait the final relase to have the better deinterlace settings :)
PS: i think i will perhaps remove the "VerticalReduce" filter.
PS2: i put the DUP filter at the end of the script do u think if i put this filter after the resize and before the smotth filter this will give a better result ? (i hope neuron2 will read this post).
Bye.
PS3: if someone are interested to writte a guide or a documentation in any languague on autodub it can feel free :) i will be happy to host your creations :)

13th September 2002, 12:08
hi,
i think i will show in the titile bar the quality indice and the compressibility test result because it these 2 figures are on a different tab.
for the compressibility test 5% :
Divx3 : beetween 50-70 %
Divx4 : beetween 50-70 %
Divx5 : beetween 40-70 % (40-50 with b frame and 50-60 without b-frame).
Xvid : beetween 40-70 %
a percentage higher than 70% --> higher the resolution
a percentage between 50% and 70% --> OK
a percentage lower than 50% --> lower the resolution
or of course increase or decrease the desired final file size.
i think the xvid compressibility test was very close to the correct result, if someone could make some test it will be great :)

hi,
the error "le fichier ne contient aucune information recuperable !"
(in english : "can't find informations in the file") it's because
i have forget my autodub.ini file in the package and the path of the applications are not the same on your computer (sorry i was tired when i have made the archive :) )
simply delete the autodub.ini file and start again autodub, this will solve your problems . once it will be started it will autodetect the path for the virtudaub, nandub and besweet path, simply click on "save" and "close" to update the application path in the autodub.ini file.
after select a .d2v file to enable the tabs.

Until now, I did encodes only with Vidomi and was pretty sattisfied. Then I tried AutoDub and was delighted at first. I have Celeron@900 and got 10-12 fps with Vidomi (DivX5.02 - 2pass, YV12, sound encoded at same time). With AutoDub I only get 4 - 5,5 FPS + sound encode.
It took 22h to encode a movie. Is there a way to solve this?
P.S. I did some tests on small clips and it looks it`s the same speed with or without filters checked.
Regards.

@Maximus
very nice guide :)
i am actualy working on a new version of my siteweb once il will update my homepage, i will add a link to your guide. thank u again
PS: perhaps a little explination on the filters will be great :)
@Koke
first celeron are not very opitized for the compression after u can't compare virtualdub (used in autodub) and vidomy (who use a part of mpeg2avi the most quick compresser) after vidomi use directely the .vob file else virtualdub use avisynth & plugin to load the frameserver (.d2v) it often for this u not have the same speed, and of course not the same quality :) if u want speed use mpeg2avi with a gui else if u want quality use virtualdub. to increase the speed under autodub check in the first tab the process priority, after use a bilinear resize (fast but a bit blur) and don't use filters (this slowdown the encoding process).
Ps: i have a PIII 1Ghz under virtualdub i got 14-15fps with mpeg2avi i got 17fps, but not the same visual quality :)
Bye.

sorry my english was very bad can u explain me this sentence : "Besides, donīt see the "starting credits" option anywhere."
if i am right your resolution was too low to see the slidebar in the crop windows ?

hi,
i often record movies or series from tv with my vidac card (www.vidac.de) to mpeg2. iīve tried vidomi which is a nice simple tool but the deinterlace function isnīt very good there.
the good thing in vidomi is that it can encode parts of a movie and that means that i can cut out advertisements. vidomi cuts also the sound out and everything i ok.
the problem here is deinterlacing because itīs mess in vidomi therefore i wanted to encode in vdub. the cutting in vdub takes very long ....
sorry for the long stories.... :-)
now my question: is there a possibility to encode parts in autodub? could autodub not take over the jobs in vdub?
i hope you can help me
thank you very much....

I love your program man ...good job. I would love it if you could add some other options.....
I usually encode my audio with mp3pro because I can make the final size very small without much quality loss. so...
* The choice to add my own audio from audio (just general muxing) menu without having besweet encode it and all that ( I do it myself but would like autodub to add it to the encode) Ie select mp3 format from open audio stream box/path
Also when I would go into the xvid manual settings for the strength I would set it to 50 percent and when I go back into there it's changed back again to 30 percent.
* Save my own profile settings
* I would like to decide the size or range of the movie so I can cut out any beginning and end (credits etc) that I don't want. Ie trim/cut etc.
I would like to choose my own temp folders(which I can) and my own destination folder which for some reason it won't let me. I think it's because I'm a little new to this proggie but it still rocks.

Hi dark, hope you can read this........i am just wondering if you continue with your project.
The "starting credits" option that i mentioned in my early post, was about the frames between 0 and the end of the starting credits of the movie......all the xvid versions has this option to set.....
I noticed that AutoDub worked fine with the last official Koepi build (04/10).....after that, when i tried to encode something , virtualdub crashes......no matter which version i use (NICīs, Koepiīs, Umaniacīs)
Anyway, thanks for your time and wonderful program.
