My music computer still uses Windows 98 and it continued to work even 10 years after the support for this old version ceased.

Meanwhile the PIII has not "evolved" into a Skylab, it simply stayed, biblically, unchanged. :) :)

It resembles the metro start screen if anything, and more precisely the setup screens you get after installing Windows 8/8.1 that guide you through setting a PC name etc.

The performance is nicely improved even on my old Core 2 Duo machine, and I like the navigation changes in Windows Explorer. I mean you better just update - you're going to be running it at some point - then it won't cost you $150 later

Difference between Win7 and Win10 is much smaller than between XP and Vista.

The German computer magazine C'T just published 2 .reg files which turn off Cortana either system wide or just for the current user.

Save the following files with the .reg extension and execute them...
