Greetings Dean and crl2007.
Trying to make a backup of Slumdog Millionaire Region A BD, stripping off some undesirable content and unneeded audio and subtitle tracks of the main movie. Here are some unexpected issues that I came across:
1. It took more than 40 minutes just to scan the 36GB disc on a W7 system with Q8400 CPU and 8x LG drive WH08LS20. Seems to get bogged down at 00099.mpls (http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11243&stc=1&d=1278945317) (the main menu, I think). For comparison, Clown_BD_Copy took less than 30 minutes to create a backup copy on HDD.
2. Only one audio track was listed, the 5.1 channel DTS_MA English soundtrack (http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11245&stc=1&d=1278855203). The other 3 AC3 tracks were apparently not detected.
3. Can you kindly explain how you modify the In and Out Time and playlist mark in the mpls? BDedit and readmpls seem to report different things. Take 00149.mpls (http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11244&stc=1&d=1278855203) for example, the original has 4 chapters. But the blank stream that you created has 5 chapters according to readmpls, but only 1 according to BDedit.
4. Can't get the option to split into two BD25 volume to work. Appreciate your guidance.
Attached is the BDMV folder (http://www.megaupload.com/?d=5C70PJ7A) and log file (http://forum.doom9.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=11246&stc=1&d=1278856263) for your ref.
Many thanks and best regards.

1. The hanging is caused more likely by broken directshow codecs or the hang of mx264. When it hangs, check in task manager and kill mx264 or x264. It will go again.
2. Sometimes, multiAVCHD has some problems with various discs format, especially if they were authored wrong from the beginning. Do this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=150511) for the main movie and just use multiAVCHD for blanking intros, removing extras etc.
3. The IN_OUT time is modified only for the original mpls, not for the edited one. And in BDEdit, you just modify the IN time of the original mpls and it will calculate the OUT time and playlist marks by itself.
4. In Re-Author Mode, you can only split in 4 GB chunks, for Playstation 3 playback, you can't use the options in the AUTHOR tab. And if you split, the only thing that will split will be media bigger than 4 GB / 25 GB, but you'll have the same disc, same size, not two volumes. I don't know any software to split a Blu-Ray disc into two volumes, like DVDFab does for DVD discs.
Sorry for the long period and no answer, but I've been extremely busy.

Thanks for your kind reply, crl2007.
1. The hanging is caused more likely by broken directshow codecs or the hang of mx264. When it hangs, check in task manager and kill mx264 or x264. It will go again.
The system does not hang and there is no mx264/x264 in the task manager. It just takes a long time to complete scanning the disc.
If you take a look at the culprit 00099.mpls, BDedit shows 1000 chapter marks. Is this causing problem for multiAVCHD?
2. Sometimes, multiAVCHD has some problems with various discs format, especially if they were authored wrong from the beginning. Do this (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=150511) for the main movie and just use multiAVCHD for blanking intros, removing extras etc.
I checked with tsMuxeR and eac3to and both detected all the missing audio tracks. Doesn't multiAVCHD use these two programs for demuxing?
3. The IN_OUT time is modified only for the original mpls, not for the edited one. And in BDEdit, you just modify the IN time of the original mpls and it will calculate the OUT time and playlist marks by itself.
The example chosen is a blank dummy stream inserted by multiAVCHD. The new mpls generated appears to be a modification of the original. The original mpls has four chapters, but BDedit and readmpls can't seem to agree on how many chapters the new mpls has. Is there a bug here?
Is there a reason not creating a new mpls with just one chapter? Isn't it just a dummy stream?
A related question: can the duration be set to 0?
Does volume splitting work if I input the whole BDMV folder structure in Normal Mode?
Many thanks.

1. Yes, that many marks causes this loadout.
2. No, multiAVCHD uses his own stream detection method.
3. That's the default method used by multiAVCHD. The duration cannot be set to 0.
4. Yes, but still you will have 2 pieces or more, not 1.

Hi,
I'm new to multiAVCHD
I'm trying to reauthor a BD which has four playlists pointing at the main movie.
All I really want to do is remove the non-english soundtracks, to save a bit of space.
So I go through each of the four playlists and delete the relevant soundtracks.
I then reauthor the BD and it outputs FOUR copies of the main movie file, resulting in an 80GB image  (the original is around 25GB)
Any pointers on what I'm doing wrong?
TIA for any advice

Hi Guys!!
First, thanks for any tutorial here, is it like Heaven :)
Everything works fine but, i still never added properly subtitles track into discs with SE or DC or Theather Cuts...I do exactly same as in tutorial but i have two problems: 1. File has (in case two versions of movie in same disc) double size. for example Gladiator has 2 versions on disc, disc has 45 GB, after multiAVCHD finishes disc projects has 87 GB physically. Why??Why AVCHD some kind of reason "joining" these files??
Any Help Please??i missed something??
2.playlist editing not works, 87 GB large disc after adding subtitles not recognise subtitles which i added...maybe because i adding subtitles into both versions??
Thanks for any advice!!

You are doing something wrong. I can't see into your pc and see what you are doing wrong. My advice is to read the guide more carefully when re-authoring a disc.

multiAVCHD simply doesn't support multiple versions, sharing the same M2TS files in different playlists (branched titles). It is clearly stated here (http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?p=1361598#post1361598).
In re-author mode features as PIP (Picture-in-Picture) are not supported (yet). Blu-ray titles, featuring alternate endings with branched playlists may or may not work as expected (either one branch will work or you will get huge oversize, having both/all versions in the final compilation). I don't have such titles to test with. TextST (subtitles) should work.

But in the guide I wrote how to still use multiAVCHD for branched titles. It just requires some manual editing after multiAVCHD finishes.

Or what's easier if you don't want to get double sized output from MultiAVCHD:
1) Make sure that branched playlists numbers are greater than all individual m2ts playlists. For example:
Theatrical playlist (00010.m2ts+00011.m2ts): 00001.mpls
Extended playlist (00010.m2ts+00012.m2ts): 00002.mpls
00010.mpls (00010.m2ts)
00011.mpls (00011.m2ts)
00012.mpls (00012.m2ts)
Then 00001.mpls should be renamed to say 10001.mpls and 00002.mpls should be renamed to 10002.mpls
2) Open it with MultiAVCHD and make all the changes you need in 00010.mpls, 00011.mpls and 00012.mpls and don't touch 10001.mpls and 10002.mpls
3) After MultiAVCHD has done its job (you won't get double sized output), rename 10001.mpls and 10002.mpls to their original names.
4) Open MultiAVCHD output with BDEdit and add/remove edited audio/subtitle streams in STN table for 00001.mpls and 00002.mpls
As I don't have much HDD free space I prefer this option.

You have to edit every single m2ts from the branched titles and replace every single clpi and edit the movies mpls.

You know,This disc has the video split across multiple *.m2ts files and my exact problem isn't adding subtitle to it,I did it by tsMuxeR and crl2007 method,Everything is working fine on my lptop (PowerDVD 10 and TotalMedia Theatre 3),But,On Playstation 3 and Blu-Ray Player it has a problem just same as Iron Man 2 (Iron Man 2 splits in several m2ts files too),The movie doesn't start, screen remains black..
What should I do to solve this problem on PS3 and BD Players?
I only want to make my disc compatible whit PS3 an BD Player

When i load the saved project, it doesn't show where the bluray is in my partition. I saved the same bluray folder in 2 different partition, 1 for re-authoring and 1 for backup. Could you show the patch in next version.

Hi
Some Blu-ray have the same playlist.
http://picload.org/image/alodop/playlist.jpg
I add subtitle to this Blu-ray using guide(palylist 3 was edited). I test it with "TMT" and I found that the language ID was not changed. I change the language ID for playlist 47 manually using BDedit(for playlist 3 automatically done with multiAVCHD) and after that the language ID has been changed. So it seems that in this case playlist 47 is master not playlist 3.
My question is, how to find that which one is master playlist before editing?

Hi, before my question I just want to say THANKS a lot for being making this program, dude...
Well, this is my problem: I've added subtitles to a BD that originally doesn't have any, Using multiAVCHD I was able to make a succesful compilation, everithing works okey, menus, chapters... except the subtitles, that doesn't show at all, with my bd player I can see that are hidden or something, coz I can read "spanish" but in a grey color and I can't select them, I tried to edit the BD with Bd edit and everthing seems to be normal, the subtile track appears to be ok, coz the subtitle is not "hidden", if they were "hidden" the subtitle track would not appear and everything could be resolve with just pusshing the button of "+". but the are there and I can't see them with any player. So I don't know that to do : (
Please help!

multiAVCHD should have added your subtitles correctly in the mpls too. But if that did not happen, you can try to manually add the subtitle stream in the playlist by editing it with BDEdit.
http://thumbnails30.imagebam.com/12945/4d9c0a129443737.jpg (http://www.imagebam.com/image/4d9c0a129443737)
You press on the number from 1 and then on the plus sign from number two. And from number 3 you edit your language and order.

Thanks for the answer, but the fact is that I can see the subtitle stream added by multiAVCHD with BDEdit, but power dvd or totalmedia theatre are unable to show the subtitles, they appear to be hidden or something, because both programs shows that there is a subtitle track that says "SPANISH" (but in a grey color) so I can't even select them to see them- they are there but I can't select them with the bd player software-

@crl2007
Hi!
I have a very unusual situation that I'm hoping you can help me to resolve. This is the background of my dilemma:
I recently acquired a USED Blu-ray disc ("Face Off") from a retailer that was going out of business. I also have owned the DVD version for several years. When I got around to attempting to make a backup copy of the Blu-ray several days later, I discovered that the disc contained an insurmountable, invisible flaw at 73% of the main movie - and the retailer was no longer in business.
So I now have:
1) An incomplete Blu-ray disc, lacking only the main movie .M2TS (00003.m2ts), and
2) A fully functional DVD version of the same movie.
I have now successfully converted the DVD's main movie to a BDMV(Plus all sub-directories) + CERTIFICATE Blu-ray compliant "package" (H.264, 1080p, 23.976fps, Level 4.1, bitrate approximately 3,000, and audio of 640 kbps 5.1AC3). This plays perfectly as a Blu-ray "movie only" disc on all standalones and my PC.
I am seeking a way to incorporate this homebrewn "Blu-ray" into the commercial (flawed) Blu-ray. The following approaches have FAILED:
1) Simply changing the name of the homebrewn movie-only .M2TS to "00003.m2ts" and adding it to the "real" Blu-ray's contents.
2) Changing the names of the homebrewn movie-only .M2TS., .CLPI, and .MPLS to "00003" - and adding the homebrewn "00003.m2ts" to the "real" Blu-ray's contents and replacing the "real" Blu-ray's "00003" .CLPI and .MPLS files with the homebrewn versions.
Is there a way to use multiAVCHD's re-authoring capabilities (while retaining menus and extras) to accomplish this, despite not having the commercial Blu-ray's main movie .M2TS as a starting point?
Thank you.

AFAIK that bitrate does not follow the BD standard. As it may play as a separate entity, replacing it manually in the original BD is kinda tricky. You can try this too:
You replace the main movie and the clpi fil with those created by you. After that, you open BDedit and edit the mpls files of the main movie by deleting the m2ts contained there and adding the one you made. Then you have to copy the in_out times and chapter marks from the mpls you created. Save and in theory it should work. multiAVCHD doesn't have a movie replacing feature. AFAIK deank no longer has time to add new features.

@crl2007
Thanks again for your suggestions ;>}
However, I actually tripped across a very simple solution that required virtually no effort:
1) Loaded my initial homebrewn "00003.m2ts" (bitrate of 3,000) into multiAVCHD and transcoded at a bitrate of 12,500 - and saved as a Blu-ray "package".
2) Added my revised homebrewn movie-only .M2TS "00003.m2ts" (The missing/incomplete Blu-ray movie-only title) to the "real" Blu-ray's contents. (I did NOT swap in the .MPLS and .CPLI files from my homebrewn DVD-converted-to-Blu-ray).
3) Simply used the wonderful BD Rebuilder to compress the entire package to a "FULL DISC" BD9, with all menus and extras in tact. Everything functions perfectly, including main menu, movie playback, extras, popup menu, scene selection. The only things not captured were subtitles and additional audiostreams (due to the faulty/incomplete original main movie "0003.m2ts). The important factor here is that BD Rebuilder apparently fixed those .MPLS and .CPLI files as required.

So BD Rebuilder did what I said earlier, but automatically. It's good to know, not to waste time modifying it manually. I'm glad you figured it out.

You should use tsmuxer.
Try following steps:
1.Prepare subtitle for 00004.m2ts and 00008.m2ts separately(you may also do it for 00016.m2ts).
2.Use tsmuxer to add subtitle to both file.(if tsmuxer again failed, notify me!)
3.Replace 0000.4.m2ts and 00008.m2ts and their clipinf file(00004.clpi and 00004.clpi)
3.change intime(00:10:00.000) for all playlist that contain 00004.m2ts and 00008.m2ts
In this way you will keep both version of the movie.

Yes, you should cut subtitle with exact time of each part.
I assume that you are familiar with tsmuxer and bdedit, are you?
what is your moive title?

Replacing clpi is not arbitrary, you have to replace it.
