I'd suggest using 1352 since there is some bug reports from 1353/1354. Also if you use 1320+ you'll want to use x264 --weightp 0 to avoid video corruption in some standalones and coreavc, and you also won't lose 10-15% speed.

Added Jeeb's r1352 build and added --weightp 0 --nal-hrd but after interlaced encoding the result isn't a "real?" interlaced video. Mediainfo is still saying:
Scan type : MBAFF

Spelling mistake will be corrected :). I can create a guide on how to replace the menu. But for now you won't save space with it. Actually the total menu including the intro takes about 29 MB. (1 to 8 items). In the future I will make it possible to replace/add your own menu. For now you have to do it with the default. In the future I will also add the option to create an intro but no menu. Now you get them both or nothing. After my next version I will start with the guide. Now I am redesigning a large part of the source code to fix some fundamental problems.

How processes are started and managed is a mess right now. Also subtitle conversion will be multithreaded. This is usefull for my avs2bdnxml implementation for High Quality subtitles. And with a little luck I can drop process.exe.

I've encounted with a strange problem,that I can,t resolve.Just for experimental reason I uninstalled AVCHDCoder 09.12.06 and
now unable to install it back.Windows installer sending a message:"The feature you are trying to use is on a CD-ROM or other removable disc that is not available." My pevious good installation was the same Setup.exe file (106MB) that I've got from
Twan's site (thou he says that installation file is .msi (102MB) I couldn't find it anywhere).When I tryed to install 09.10.02 there was another message: " A more recent version of AVCHDCoder is already installed on this computer." No changes in my PC was
made before that,and I have also installed Handbrake,MeGUI,MKVmerge GUI,tsMuxer as standalone apps.I've tryed to uninstall all

It is an exe of 102 MB (fixed the extension on my website). A 106MB setup file doesn't exist in my version history. This is my filezise (currently working at Ubuntu):
102.0 MB (106930496 bytes). 102/106 MB depending on what number you look.

How did you uninstall AVCHDCoder? I'll try to find out where AVCHDCoder stores it's version information.

Next release is planned for Februari 1st, then AVCHDCoder is public for 1 year.

Concerning filesize number(106960kb) - on Rapishare, it's written on dld page,also 106 930 496 k says my Total Commander.
Uninstallation of AVCHDCoder was made by Advanced uninstaller PRO 9.6.After that I manually deleeted some remainig files
from "Documents and settings/user/Local setting... and so on.
If new release planned in a week I'll wait,but will it cure the problem ? May be it's possible to reassemble setup.exe into msi.?

New release will allow you to install it again because the version of the installer is higher. You can only install versions with an higher version number. I assume AVCHDCoder isn't listed in "Programs" in Control Panel anymore? If it is listed you can perform a "repair" or "remove".

.msi doesn't allow me to use high compression for the installation files (and still have 1 installation file). It saves me about 100-200 MB if I don't use msi. The exe gets smaller.

I would like to take a look at your applications, the installer is really big, why? Will it make a lot system changes? Java applications often don't integrate well into Windows, where will the settings be saved on a windows system? I've very good experience with same Java applications like ProjectX for instance but I've also bad experience with Java applications causing various problems on Windows so please forgive me asking all this.

The installer and installation is big because all menu pages are also installed. The menu's are not created like the way multiAVCHD does. The menu's take about 500MB diskspace. When I am able to encode my own menu's the installer gets smaller. Custom intro's are already possible.

AVCHDCoder settings are saved in the registry. You are right, Java apps don't integrate that well. That is why I created a Registry app in C#. AVCHDCoder saves it's data via the C# bridge to the registry. (Commandline)

I also have trouble with processes that are launched. (Character problems)

In the past settings where saved in the registry but since it's loaded in memory and most backup applications don't support backing up registry keys settings are saved in the app data dir now. Small portable applications often use the startup directly. The easiest way to get the app data dir in Java is probably expanding the environment variable %appdata%. Java should support serialization since it supports reflection, serialization is usually the easiest solution to persist settings.

not all settings are saved in the registry. The subtitles presets are located in: C:\Users\<username>\AVCHDCoder\Application Settings

In the passed I also placed the settings file there but it cost me too much time to add new values. (Backwards compatibility, parsing and writing etc) I switched to the registry because it is very flexible. In a couple of minutes a added multiple new settings. (including GUI changes etc)

You can use Nullsoft Scriptable Install System (NSIS). It is free and has good compression.

I'm using 2.45 for more than 6 months with multiAVCHD setup and got rid of the microsoft installer.

No option for me. Now I use a licenced Java version of Advanced Installer. It allows me to create a correct exe file for my .jar file. This means I can create a 64 and 32 bit exe and it allows me to give it a 256x256 pixel icon as iconimage. I tried different jar exe wrappers and Advanced Installer was the only one I find that could do that. Also easy registry support was a thing that I needed. NSIS was not wat I was looking for.

Thanks for new version of AVCHDCoder.Unfortunately,I couldn't install it for for the same old reason - getting warning from Windows installer,but now it's of a different kind :"The older version of AVCHDCoder cannot be removed.Contact your technical support group."I did't mention in my previous post that in "Add or remove programms" it's still present (just a name) and after deleting appears again next time when you open the list.In registry I know only one path to get rid of an application in such cases:HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE >SOFTWARE > Microsoft > Windows > Current version > Uninstall , but there's not a sign of AVCHDCoder.Is it necessary to reinstall OS to clean up remnants of older version or may be it can work as thinstall portable?

Thanx for non-installer,but after some consideration I didn't use it, because my OS already have most of it 's components and I could get things worse making short cuts. I'm not much of an expert, so excuse me. Luckily,I found an app that cleaned up PC from non-erasable remnants of old version.It's called "Your uninstaller! PRO" and here is the site for those who might get the same problem: http://www.ursoftware.com .My fist trial after installation AVCHDCoder 10.02.01 was VC-1,1920x1080i concert of Ken Hensley with 25.000 fps and signs of interlacing on movings objects(combing),though "Media info" determines it as progressive.Output resolution I chose as 1920x1080p (maybe it was wrong,but it's present in options whithout some kind of restriction) and chapter points as in default box every 5 minutes( pushed the button "validate").After conversion, quality for most of the picture is great, but on the moving objects appeared square blocks,frame rate became 23.976 fps,there is no chapters at all and audio is totally out of sync.I couldn't manage to correct audio-video compatibility in MKVmerge through all possible options.So what can be done in this situation?

The reason it becomes 23.976 is because 1080p@25fps is an invalid format. When you encode at 1080i 25fps is possible. So can you try 1080i output? I have no clue why the output is out of sync. Can you send me a sample? (Make sure the sample has the same problem)

When you throw the file into tsMuxer I think it will tell you that it is interlaced. Not sure.

- New 64 bit ?pure? mode: Last versions of x264 can handle directly video input from mkv, mt2s, etc. without need avisynt/ffdshow for all.

It is not possible for now ... (ffms input still in development) but the gain in speed, quality and simplicity is important :eek:. You could put as an optional method or choose it automatically when not required change resolution (source is in 1080p for example)

Thanks for the BDSup2Sub finally a gui that does BD to AVCHD in just a few clicks with good sizes and full sub support. But I'm still looking for the same gui characteristics that outputs DVD/mkv/mp4/xvid and inputs DVD.

I noticed systernals LUA popped up the first time an encode was started and the first time pause/resume button was hit. It's not a big deal but maybe there's a way to hide that LUA?

Also have you thought about what features you were planning on adding next?

I can help with compression check process and calculating, calculate mkv overhead, autocrop usage, mux mkv, calculate dvd overhead (within 5 MB usually), author dvd with dvdauthor. integrating dgnvtools, calculate xvid overhead/encoding. But I can't put it into code outside of batch.

Have you thought anymore about reverting pause/resume so it's less confusing? Pressing pause button to pause for instance.

ffmms x264 input would be nice and gets rid of splitter/decoder dependency, also pointing to x264_x64.exe via avisynth64 when resizing with an x64 OS would be nice.

I don't really know what my next steps will be. In my development version I already added improvements:

I have rewritten parts of AVCHDCoder so I am be able do make better use of my modules. Technically I can build new small tools around AVCHDCoder. For example an easy HQ subs converter.

I am working on a module so you can grab an image from a movie and use it as background video for the intro. Will be done with avisynth script.

MP4 input support. But no High Quality Subs because I do the demuxing with tsMuxer. Also srt only.

There are still some small things that are causing problems. Minor improvements will be done. (Like the pause button, finally :p)



I have some ideas myself:
-Subtitles preview when you are making a subtitles preset.
-Remux mode, Encode mode, remux/encode mode. Remux mode: Remux at all time. (Only pops up when streams are valid) Encode mode: Encode all streams at any time (Current in AVCHDCoder). Remux/Encode mode: First try a remux. If it doesn't fit to your destination switch to encode mode.
Advantages: Still all features of AVCHDCoder like adding subs (HQ for example), removing audio, encoding audio, forcing subs, adding menu's/intro's etc. Can save time if it all fits.

I don't know if I will add this. Sideeffect is that I need to push it in the output panel and people still need to understand what it does. Technically it is possible and not very hard to implement.

Sysinternals shouldn't be popping up. I'll look into it.

I'll try some things with ffmms x264 input. Sounds nice. Can be used if your source size is correct and don't want to resize the video. But I am still decoder dependant for encoding the intro and subtitles conversion on HQ.

Couple of weeks ago I was frustrated by the fact I couldn't find an app that could create mp4 files with specific settings. Like cropping and adding borders at the same time while maintaining aspect ratio and target resolution. Fully automatically ofcourse. Also was frustrated that there was no good DVD creator with the same power as AVCHDCoder :mad:

So I am considering to make a DVD version of AVCHDCoder. But I don't have enough knowledge to do it. I mean the technical stuff like MPEG2 encoding, muxing to VOB, demuxing DVD, building menu's/intro's etc. (CLI offcourse)

What would be very nice: If I can fully integrate it into AVCHDCoder. So there is almost no difference in the user interface. I don't know if I can do that in an easy way. But if you can help me with everything I need that would be very nice !
If everything I need can be done then I will make a DVD version with the same easy functions as AVCHDCoder. Lots of input file types can be reused. (MKV input etc) Only DVD input/output has to be added.

I don't understand how this complicates things. OTOH mkv/mp4/xvid output would require 1 exe each, 1 command line each and simple overhead calculation. A new gui needs many lines of code and would provide less functionality.

If the selected stream is the only pgc in the vts, create d2v/demux audio with dgindex, demux chapters/subs with pgcdemux. If there's more than one pgc in the vts demux audio/video/chapters/subs with pgcdemux then create d2v with dgindex. Pass d2v through avs to encoder.

I don't have MSN or any other IM program and I'm not around much these days and often when europe is sleeping so I don't think it would be of much help.

Thanx for this info. First I am going to do some testing with those applications. If everything goes without much trouble and if it can do what I need then I'll see what exactly my next steps are.

I can easily re-use the current code. With some handy programming I can create 2 applications that is actually 1 application. Then I have the best of both worlds. I have a DVD application and AVCHDCoder is still easy to use. The very very last thing I want is an application that has multiple kinds of output. I believe the power of AVCHDCoder will be lost if I add multiple types of output. If there will be a DVD version it will be another app. (For me it is 1 but the user thinks it are 2 apps.)

RipBot264 is the closest I can think of but it takes 20+ minutes to setup because of the demux, many mouse clicks and only suites mkv/mp4. There's many mkv/mp4 gui's but only BluRip supports BD input which has no bitrate calculator.

What program inputs a DVD and outputs AVCHD/mkv/mp4?
multiavchd outputs 1:1 AVCHD but lacks a true bitrate calculator.

Do you want DVD output or AVCHD output? Because frankly your little quote:

Frankly, I think that if an application outputs MPEG2 DVD's, it would be a bad feature creep to support mkv/mp4 files, as there are already a large number of programs that support BD to MKV/MP4.

I think that if you want to output to DVD, you would use 1 program, and then if you wanted to output to mkv, you would use another.

I have used method linked to in that guide several times and it always produced excellent output.

Hello, then put the command line I use to re-encode Blu-Ray with the latest versions of x264 (r1462 +). You might want to take some parameters to include in future versions of your software:

--tune ?film? --> Sets other options automatically (deblock=1:-1:-1 / psy_rd=1.00:0.15 / chroma_qp_offset=-3)

--pbratio 1.1 --> removed due optimum value its calculated automatically with mbtree option on (default)

--b-pyramid "none" --> this option is now on by default but it is safer to disable it (PS3 compatibility, etc.).

--slices 4 --> better compatibility with Blu-Ray specifications

--colorprim "bt709" --transfer "bt709" --colormatrix "bt709" --> Specifies the characteristics of the color space typically used in Blu-Ray

--vbv-bufsize 30000 --vbv-maxrate 40000 --> They are the maximum values of the Blu-Ray specifications so there should be no problems with any compatible hardware but rarely come to achieve these values with lower bitrates used in DVD5/DVD9

In the next release updates the x264 executable (version r1352 become obsolete) :)

Adub I'm familiar with AVStoDVD and have used it but it doesn't support seamless branching BD's, subtitles, and chapters. I mentioned these drawbacks and offered ways to fix them awhile back in the avstodvd thread.

Considering some of the tools are common in input/output I don't see the point of using different gui's for each output. Also dealing with 1 organized source should be simpler then dealing with a bunch of sources. One big problem with multiple gui's is queuing which is almost impossible unless you can schedule tasks, queuing different outputs in the same gui by changing one option is simple and can be set and forget if all you want is one type of output.

There are lots of problems with a lot of characters (not only AVCHDCoder). I already tested some characters. I will test and add Underscores to the next version. For now just remove the underscores.

Yes, I used ''.'' (Back.to.Future). Usually I only use letters, numbers and the underscores in DVD Files, and the underscores doesn't cause any problems. I also think it will not cause problems in BD-Files.

The problem is not blu-ray but the tools to convert files. Many tools fail on most characters.

I want to thank you, twazerty, for a pretty awesome program. I've used it four times and have to say I'm really impressed with the quality of the final product. I've made two BD5s, one BD9, one BD25 and they've come out mint each time. I'm a long-time user of Ripbot, but finding the time of encoding is taking too long, 19 hours encoding Sherlock Holmes 1080 BD9 on quadcore at my custom, max settings is a little ridiculous. I believe your all-in-one converter does a comparable job at your built-in settings compared to Ripbot and the encoding time is cut in half. I love that I can add a custom menu if I want, tweak a few things if I want. The ease of use is the best thing to say about this program. I'll be pointing people to this program for now on as I'm sold on it as my number one BD5/BD9/BD25 encoding program. Thanks for your hard work, brother.

And who told you to CHANGE default settings!?! If you set everything at max encoding MUST be SLOWER! Alot slower! Some people are a little ridiculous.

multiAVCHD does (output DVD to Blu-ray, AVCHD, SD_VIDEO, DVD).

About DVD to AVCHD... When I posted about it I was thinking about files -> DVD and that's why I said there are a lot of programs to do it.

Blu-ray/AVCHD/files to DVD is now available in multiAVCHD build 737 anyway.

This will defenitely be one of my next steps. The technical design of AVCHDCoder needs to be fixed first. Already done a lot of stuff but still not everything.
