Hi,

I found that only the first (engl- DTS-HD) language selection actually generated a demuxxed audio track. When selecting any of the other (DTS) tracks simply no track extraction was started. I guess something is really wrong here ... (used the 09.09.09 version).

Mmh strange. Did the source contain 3 times dts-hd? And did you select 3 times Untouched?

I am testing now with 3 audiostreams. 2 DTS and 1 DTS-HD. But everything works fine here.

Maybe the problem stems from the fact that the main movie contains 4 parts. Audio consists of 1 DTS-HD track and two DTS tracks. AVCHD builds the correct new m2ts track out the the four parts. When selecting any of the DTS tracks and switching them to do not touch, generated no extracted audio track - which of course generated a problem later in the process, when the audio track was missing .... Only selection of the DTS-HD track actually generated an extracted audio track (this was not switched to do not touch). I will send some more details on that later, but the process already failed at the very start, as no Tsmuxer commands for the audio are being generated in the case of the DTS tracks.

Thanks for a great program, it is starting to mature and developing is coming along nicely :thanks:

Regarding different split sizes, I would like to see, because they are the sizes I use when a movie will not fit on a DVD9:
DVD9+DVD5 and DVD9+DVD9

Another thing I would love to see is HD audio "pass trough", because when encoding "short" movies I would love to keep the HD audio.

I am normally down converting the CORE track of TrueHD using this eac3to command line:
c3to.exe input.thd+ac3 output.thd+ac3 -down2 -192

What it does is that it down converts the core audio to 2 channel at 192kb/s and that saves some space and leaves more space for the video bitrate :)
Would that be possible to do for TrueHD audio, if you were to support HD audio output in future versions of AVCHDCoder ?

HD audio formates are supported in a limited way. Only the DTS formats are supported now with and without pass-through. True-HD is partially supported. Only the core can be extracted now. Pass-through of True-HD not yet. Maybe LPCM support will be supported in the next version.

I will consider the option to convert to 2 audio channels. My goal is to support more Audio types. These will be added to the next version:
FLAC, AAC and maybe Vorbis/OGG and LPCM.

Sorry if I did not make my self totally understandable, but I am not down converting the TrueHD audio to 2 channels only, I am down converting it and remuxing it in to the TrueHD audio stream again, so that the core audio of the TrueHD track is only 2 channel at 192kb/s ( not the normal 5.1 channel at 640kb/s ) that way I "shrink" the TrueHD audio's total filesize, but still keep the HD audio intact :)

Does that make sense to you to maybe add that option for trueHD audio in the future ?

I get it. But I don't understand this completely:

Both ways is something to say for.
Current way is similar while playing a dvd in your recorder. So While converting it is in "Play/resume" status and whil je hit the button it jumps to "pause" state and icon. It isn't a normal button but a toggle button. And well the other version is already known :) I like my way. I find the opposite (your idea) very confusing. Current way is more like a direct indication. And for better understanding I added tooltip information :) This problem is very annoying :p both ways are wrong. :)

On a VCR when you hit the pause butten a pause icon apears on the tv. (AVCHDCoder also shows a pause icon when paused.) Makes more sence to me.

You are right. In some previous version it was switched. Also the button was seperated from the status. I can switch them, no problem. But consider this:
When you are playing a movie and you ask for information it will tell you it is playing. A play icon makes more sence. Everybody mixed up these things. My idea was: When you pressed the button it stays pressed. And the indication is paused.

But after some thinking the best way is to switch them.

A better way will be to create a pause/resume button and a messagebox. Hit OK to resume. Or very large text in the statusbar.

I understand where you're coming from. The issue lies with trying to combine a button label with a displayed status.

I like your idea of having a message box along with a generic 'pause/resume' button. The message box can display something like "Video Encoding is Running" (in green text) and "Video Encoding is Paused" (in red text).

Found another bug (albeit I'm getting nitpicky here): In the Output panel, the bar used to change colour depending on how high the bit rate was (i.e. red for low, yellow for medium, green for high). However, it appears that the bar is always red now.

It is not really a bug. The Theme I use doesn't allow me to change color. It is always Orange. When I choose to use the System Theme I can change the color of a progressbar. But I like the new Theme more :) To achieve the same effect like a colored bar I added the small icon with a couple of bars. (Graph style)

I am getting more and more reports that are related with Panasonic blu-ray players. FF, REW, Next and previous doesn't work. It doesn't work on at least the following 2 players:

Panasonic BD60
Panasonic DMR-BW850

Ok. In the passed I fixed the same problem by lowering "--keyint 240 --min-keyint 24" to "--keyint 24 --min-keyint 2"

I don't know what's wrong and it works for me in MPC-HC but without --aud it's slower to seek. I have seen some oddities with TSMuxer handling .264 files in the past with async and seeking. I've since switched to mkv x264 output to feed to tsmuxer and haven't had a problem since except for appending many mkv's which seems to be fixed now.

--aud may be the ticket but if it doesn't fix the issue here's a few other things that might:
- x264 --nal-hrd (need a custom build)
- fps=23.976 (or another framerate) in the meta file
- level=4.1 in the meta file
- remove insertSEI and/or contSPS from the meta
- output as mkv (--aud has no effect)

From the little experience I have with a Panasonic BD30 they seem to be very picky players.

Need to recheck my MPC-HC. Stange that it works for you. Anyway I send a user with a Panasonic a sample with the --aud option. And it seems to work. I now let them test an alpha version of AVCHDCoder with the fix.

Added - Subtitles that are in the same directory as your source video will be added automatically to AVCHDCoder.

Menu's won't be copied. If you want to make a full backup use BDRebuilder. I don't know if I ever will add an option to make a full backup. Maybe maybe not.

Perform the System Configuration Check. I expect that VC1 decoding doesn't work.

Edit: I bought myself a Panasonic Blu-ray player(DMB-BD60) (Local discount this week) to test the discs. Actually all Panasonic owners are right. I am not be able to Fast forward/rewind and skip. Pause/resume does work.

I am going to retest the --aud setting myself. --nal-hrd wont be a solution because of the special build. I will try the rest. You will hear the result asap.

It's probably because Windows 7 doesn't allow directshow access to it's VC-1 decoder. To fix you can Download this (http://www.mediafire.com/?hwktztiyijt) and run win7_vc1.bat.

Just open ffdshow videodecoder configuration and select wmv9 at the VC1 decoding. After that open the windows 7 filter tweaker. Now you are be able to select ffdshow for VC1 decoding. Also select ffshow for MPEG2 and H264. 64 bit codecs/ffshow is useless because AVCHDCoder doesn't use 64 bit encoding. (Will be one of my next steps to add this)

In the next release of AVCHDCoder you are be able to change the decoders in AVCHDCoder itself.

@turbojet, I will try all the things you mentioned:
--aud may be the ticket but if it doesn't fix the issue here's a few other things that might:
- x264 --nal-hrd (need a custom build)
- fps=23.976 (or another framerate) in the meta file
- level=4.1 in the meta file
- remove insertSEI and/or contSPS from the meta
- output as mkv (--aud has no effect)

I am going to retest the --aud setting myself. --nal-hrd wont be a solution because of the special build. I will try the rest. You will hear the result asap.

Using x264 to create --aud --nal-hrd is the BEST option and not to let tsMuxeR do the work, because it is not possible to create proper NAL units when muxing. I strongly suggest that you use HRD/Interlace patched x264 build. Otherwise you cannot create 720x480/720x576 compliant output (it must be interlaced).

ContSPS must be present in the meta - it is required by blu-ray specs.

Best way to go is to use level 4.0 (with no slices) and not level 4.1, which REQUIRES 4 slices.
