I truly appreciate that comment.

I was prompted to write this guide after facing the frustration of finding information on ripping/demuxing/etc... blu-ray discs about a year ago. I know that the trend is going towards eac3to/mkv, that kind of thing, but i just find the AnyDVD/TSMuxer method (and now BDInfo :P) so easy to use, easy to explain (and quite frankly less intimidating for newbies :P ) that I like to try and keep this guide popular. I know that this guide has a few views, and a number of comments, but your praise for its actual usefulness is wonderful. I often wonder if this guide actually helps people, and hopefully it really does!

This is a really great guide and I have been tampering around with the movie WAL-E. I am not sure if this is a Disney thing or not, but when I try to MUX the main movie I can hear the movie with the director overdub from the STREAM folder using Powerdvd I muxed and only get a black screen for video. I can MUX other stream files so I know that TSMUXER is working as it seems to be only the main movie. I alos tried creating the .ISO and also get blackness, yet at least the director is gone. I have tried everything and getting frustrated. I am still a newbie and maybe chose the wrong movie to start with. IF there is any suggestions I would greatly appreciate it, thanks.

Download BDInfo (select v.0.4.1_most stable version):

I suppose you have AnyDVD-HD.

After AnyDVD completed scanning start BDInfo and open the disc with BDInfo.

It will show you the main mpls on the left upper corner.

Open this mpls with TSMuxer.

Thank you for your response Rica. As a side note I have used all of the tools, especially BDInfo and the main feature has up to four .MPLS files which I tried using. I have been choosing the streaming files mostly becasue TSMuxer gives me some errors when I choose .mpls files. I feel that the real confusion is exactly which .mpls file is the actual one to choose. Like I said, I think Disney may have done their home work on this one. :)

mpls which you see on the upper left corner is always the main mpls. If you are having issues with mpls files in TSMuxer use the main m2ts which you will see on the right side of the main mpls.

Yes, this is exactly what I get as well, except I get three .mpls files to choose from descibing the same feature film, yet with other differing stream files. Would you be kind enough to send a snapshot of your loading the mpls file into TSMuser just to make sure I amd loading correctly? Thanks.

Maybe I'm missing something here, but just open the .MLPS identified by BDInfo in TSmuxer. It's extremely easy, and I'm not sure what is causing you issue.

BDInfo will identify the .MLPS file you need to open in TSMuxer. Open it in TSMuxer, chose your streams and that's it.

Yes open your main mpls (in our sample 0003.mpls), it is under BDMV\STREAM.

YEs, this is item by item I used to find the exact .m2ts file. This is what is puzzling. I can play the main feature, as I said with director dialog, from the STREAM folder with all video. Once I MUX this file it is always black. In fact there seems to almost be an overlay in which it looks like a silouette of people on a couch, but still black. When MUXed this still apprears but at least the directors voice is gone and the movie just plays. I am thinking that Disney has added something to their file, unless they rearange the order of the Video and audio, just a guess.

This is default not by selected by myself.
Selecting BD doesn't change the result.

When originally played in PowerDVD there is a clean video, except the director narrates over the film. It seems to be some setting in TSMuxer that doens't translate. When I play the newly Muxed STREAM file that is whn it shows black.

I just tried to Mux this again. It takes 45 min. If you see the sihouette, there seems to be some kind of overlay.

I've just read through you're most recent posts, and you are somewhat all over the place...if you approach this step-by-step and verify/follow the steps outlined, you will almost surely be able to get this to work correctly. That being said, please don't take this as an attack, but at the same time, let's try and focus so we can resolve this issue :)

First off, make sure you have the most-up-to-date version of TSMuxer.
Secondly, make sure you select "Create Blu-Ray Disc" in TSMuxer
Thirdly, make sure you create an .ISO of that using ImgBurn.
Please check and confirm what version of PowerDVD you are running

Can you confirm, first, that you have completed these steps exactly as described?

Please be patient, we'll resolve this for sure :P

Ok, I will try my best at the step by step:

1) I used BD info per the guide to try and find the proper .M2TS file. BDInfo indicates there are three different .mpls files associated to the main feature or 2003.M2TS file. I then verify this file using PowerDVD (Version 7.3 which came with the burner). This main feature will run yet I hear an overdub of the director describing the film.
2) Using Ts Muxer (now version 1.8) I mux the same .M2TS file to a new folder. When I verify the newly created STREAM folder with the new muxed .M2TS using PwerDVD, the video is black with the same director overdub. The blackness is strange because there seems to almost be a black filter and eventually a kind of black silhouette with people on a couch eventually shows ont eh screen. I have checked other .M2TS files and there is one file that does show the PIXAR intro with people sitting on a couch, yet this .MPLS file is not designated in BDInfo.
3) I use ImgBurn (version 2.4.2.0) to create a .ISO file. Using PowerDVD, the video is also black with the silhouette, yet at least the audio is the true main feature movie without the director overdub.

I hope this makes sense and as I stated before I am thinking that Disney has done their homework on this one. Any information is much appreciated, thanks.

The main movie .M2TS of "WALL_E" contains 3 audiostreams: a 64 bit 6 channel .DTS audostream of the actual movie audio, plus 2 two-channel .AC3 "Director's Commentaries" audiostreams.

If all you've done using PowerDVD is either open the .M2TS file from your hard drive or from an UNMOUNTED .ISO image file ("QuadcoreHD" overlooked telling you to use either "Virtual Clone Drive" or "Daemon Tools" to MOUNT the .ISO image file to a virtual drive), your "good friends" at Cyberlink/PowerDVD will refuse to play the DTS audiostream and, while doing so, totally screw up the playback of the video...

Once you've MOUNTED your .ISO image file, IF YOUR SYSTEM MEETS Cyberlink's BluRay playback "requirements" (CPU, videocard) PowerDVD will "see" your .ISO image file as a disc in a drive - and should then play it properly.

As an alternative, to simply play the .M2TS, use "EAC3to" (plus one of its several GUIs) to downconvert the .DTS audiostream to 16 bit, 640kbps .AC3 audio...

WALL-E definitely works with the method in my guide beacuse i purchased the movie when it came out and have processed it in the same way :P

One thing that is curious - you mention there are 3 .mlps files that play the main movie....i don't beleive this is the case, there should only be 1 as far as I remember. Unforutnately I'm at work right now and can't verify this claim, so please excuse me if I'm wrong. You need to find which .mlps playlist file is the correct one. Do this by opening them individiually. From what I remember, most Disney/Pixar BDs have both 480p and 1080p streams when the correct .mlps is selected (please note i'm referring to opening these in TSMuxer. Open the files referenced by BDInfo one by one). Make sure to only check the steams you need - let's try getting rid of the 480 stream, and only keep the master audio track (don't select PGCs either). Once you've done this, repeat the process outlined in the guide.

ALso, go to this link and make sure your system is equiped to play Blu_Ray discs:

Please post a screenshot of BDinfo after it has analyized the disc as well as a shot of TSMuxer after you've opened the correct .mlps file.

LAstly, if trying what i've outlined does not work, I'd like you to rip the entire disc to your HDD then try it again.

PS. Remember: this process DOES work for WALL-E because i've processed this movie sucessfully :P

The problem was definately the wrong version of TS Muxer. Per your instructions in the first guide, I used the old version and was never able to open or insert .mpls files at all. The new version allows me to open these fiels and choose the correct files per Quad's previous mention after I removed the uneeded files. Thank you for all of your help, much appreciated.

One last thing. This is probably a stupid question, but if I wanted to burn to a Blu Ray, do I burn from the .ISO or the new DDMV files that was created from TS Muxer? (again, much appreciation)

Marley and Me is using a version of BD+ copy protection that is not yet supported by AnyDVD. I understand that they are working on it. I would expect an update to AnyDVD that supports that title in a few days, although I can't be sure when they'll have it done. I do know from the Slysoft forum that they're working on it.

No, that's definitely not correct. BD+ is an evolving protection mechanism. There have been several times in the past where new versions came out that Slysoft has to work on breaking. They will be dealing with this one, as well, but, it will take some time.

As i understand it's not a BD+ issue instead the content code is interacting with the Java programs (BD-J) which are on the discs as well. I believe SlySoft doesn't have a proper BD-J platform so they have to reverse engineer the (obfuscated) java classes every time a new batch of BD+ corrupted discs is released.

I made a simple BD-J platform several months ago.

The conversion tables (fix-up tables) are rather big so it's impractical to ship them all in a database together with AnyDVD-HD.

I guess this can be worked around if AnyDVD-HD could probably contact their server with vuk or some other uniquely identifying key for the movie and get that over the internet. True that if you dont have internet connectivity this wouldnt work. Sorry about being off-topic in here.

I have updated to that version, yes. I do not have any of the problem BD+ discs that have been reported. However, watching the flurry of updates yesterday on the Slysoft forum I can tell you that there are still some discs that don't work, but, a lot of them were fixed. So my advice stands, try the latest version with your disc and see if it works. If not, then I would visit the Slysoft forum and post a log for your movie and they will add it to the list of discs to fix. Nonetheless, I know Marley and Me Region A was on the list of discs fixed in this version of AnyDVD.

Not sure what you're asking exactly. I don't do any burning of Blu-rays myself although I have the ability to do so on 2 of my machines. I tend to make my backups as ISO images and store them on large hard drives. I play them back with TMT3 paired with a Xonar HDAV 1.3 which is truly awesome. I'm using a program called ClownBD (the author was spoofing the CloneBD program that Slysoft is reportedly working on) that ties together a lot of freeware apps to make a movie only backup in ISO form. It's really nice. Nonetheless, I don't want to be pimping another solution to backups in QuadCore's very nice backup guide. (Sorry for the OT stuff, Quad.)

I'm not following. You have a registered version of AnyDVD that is now showing as a trial with 6.5.4.0? If that's the case, then you'll need to contact Slysoft about that. I can't help with registration issues as I don't work for them.

not to put words in anyones mouth, but I think he's asking for a full version of anyDVD. Hopefully if this what he is in fact doing, he'll take a look at the rules before proceeding.

Oh and on a sidenote, Samuri, please don't ever feel that you have to apologize to me for going "off topic" lol. You're dispensing (as usual) excellent information. Not to mention you've helped me more times than I can count with various issues, and I can sorta count pretty high :P

I was trying to give him the benefit of the doubt on the registration thing, but, yea, my instinct told me he was asking for a pirated version. I was hoping a gentle "go contact Slysoft about your broken registration information" would guide them to the right place. :)

As for the apology I just felt that I was steering him to a potentially competing solution to this guide and felt the apology was warranted. But, even though this guide is very useful and fairly straightforward, I can understand how some people who are new at this might like a point and shoot interface. That's the only reason I mentioned it here.
