Runs fine for me too, as usual great work Archie :)

Ah, one thing I stumbled across yesterday: What about Duallanguage Avis? Would that be hard to implement?

Thanks DeRoc & Arthurfent2k (Was your frame size correct ? ie 576 lines).

If anybody else has used it for PAL conversion and had the wrong frame size or Format (Jester101 and Stynx have posted problems), please let me know your results.

Hi,

New to this trhread as have just discovered both DVDtoSVCD and this batch convertor in the hope of sorting out my jerky conversions! However, whilst I am having success with DVDtoSVCD with 23.97 to PAL conversions, eevrytime I try one through batch, it's coming out at 29.97 and sized at 720x480. Maybe I'm doing something wrong?

I've tried with both TMPGenc and CCE and same result with both. When trying to use the red D2SRoba option, it always fails to extract the aduio after about 5 seconds saying that it cannot read from disc, so I haven't tried it with that.

Cheers.

Have not done much NTSC to PAL testing, will take a look, and get back to you.

@Orak

Thanks for pointing out that bug, have now corrected the NTSC2PAL problem.

Cant seem to replicate the D2SRoba error though, try the new build and let me know how you get on with both NTSC2PAL and D2SRoba.

Download new BUILD 339 here (http://www.deckardsma.com/archiex/DVD2SVCDBATCHBuild%20339.rar) (Also added option to Downsample Audio to 44100).

Archie

PS: I am assuming that all other functions are working as there has not been any posts to prove otherwise.

If all is well with this new build, I will look at adding :

1: Subtitle support
2: Chapters
3: Multiple Audio
4: Individual D2S settings for each file.

and possibly any other suggestions, dont want the app to get over complicated (was designed originally for speed & Simplicity)

Yep, now works thanks :) Just did a couple of samples and everything was fine.

A small thing though, is it supposed to ask for the location of the D2SRoba.exe file evey time you open it? I've put a shortcut in C:\ so I don't have to browse everytime, but just wondered if there's a way of stopping it.

As for the other problem with D2SRoba, I'm not too bothered about using that. However, for your info, it's actually after the audio extraction at the point where the log says "Creating DVD2SVCD Project File", that I get an error "Cannot Copy File: Cannot read from source file or disk".

Great job anyway :)

No Problems for me with the new build... couldn't test RoBa since the checkbox is greyed out but don't use it anyway :)

@Orak

The app assumes that D2SRoba is installed, and this is why you get the file copy error.

Best thing to do is install d2sRoba, even if you dont use it.

:D fully working for me now!! good framerate and size, don't know it was just me, but its working.
Still some minor problems with the Roba dropdown when the first conversion is finished and I start a new conversion. It disappears when I start d2sroba manually and restart batch, but that's no problem:P

looking forward to subtitle support and chapter input!!

It is installed and I tell it where the .exe is everytime but it still asks me the next tim I open up. Does it need to be in a particular directory?

The file copy error actually occurs whe I try to use D2SRoba.

Do you have any software that prevents registry changes installed, as the program stores these values in the registry.

I have updated the link in the first post of this thread with a new version that does not check for D2SRoba if you dont select it on first run, if you dont intend using roba then download and use this.

However I would like to sort your problem, as you are the only person to report this.

Not that I am aware of, and it has written the location for the DVD2SVCD.exe OK (under SVCDROOT in registry). But it hasn't written the other.

I have Antivirus and Firewall, but disabled both and tried. Also MS Anitspyware, but also disabled that and tried.

Cheers for posting the one that doesn't check, although I figured where the entry goes in the registry, so put it in manually and it now doesn't ask.

Ok guys, it seems that all is well with the last Build (340).

So its time to add the latest build.

A few big updates here.
1: Now you can convert diferent formats (SVCD/DVD/VCD) in one batch.
2: Added Framesize support.
3: Adder Avi AR is 1:1 option.
4: Each file has its own configurable options.

New Build 341 available here (http://www.deckardsma.com/archiex/D2SBatch_Build_341.rar).

Once again, let me know how you get on and any bugs you come across, it has been rather quiet and thats not normal !

Archie

Note : If anybody can help me get used to the workings of subtitles and chapters within D2S, this will be appreciated as I have never worked with them (never had use for them).

Any avi files with subs would be appreciated as I dont have any to work with. mail/pm/im me if you can help.

Archie,

Having a resizing problem with the 341 build. I sometimes do low bitrate encodes at CVD resolution (352x480/576). I have D2S set up for this, but build 341 keeps resetting it to VCD resolution (352x240). I have 341 set to 'DVD', the framesize box is grayed out at 720x480/576. Running a conversion now to get you a log file to look at.

ArchieX
16th March 2006, 17:12
@Jikchung,

Firstly when you set DVD mode the program automatically sets the Framesize to 720x480/576 as is the same in D2S (if you set DVD mode in D2S it doesnt let you change Framesize).

Secondly, have you reset the framesize in the drop down menu of the file, the program sets the standard settings when you change between formats on the general section, but any changes you make in the files dropdown should be stored.

Archie

In D2S, if you choose advanced mode, you can set the framesize to anything you want under the frameserver tab. I use DVD setting with CVD resolution for lower bitrate conversions. This has worked fine with previous builds of D2SBatch. The individual file dropdown in D2SBatch gives me a choice of SVCD, DVD and VCD (no CVD) and the Framesize box is grayed out in DVD mode (which I need for compliance with the program I use for authoring). I see that SVCD and VCD output settings allow a change to CVD resolution, can that be added to the DVD output?
I had D2SBatch set to DVD output, but it is setting D2S to VCD (352x240), I have all the files from this conversion, let me know what you need.

@Jikchung,

Yep your right (thought it was strange), SVCD & VCD on my D2S were set to advanced, somehow DVD had been reset to Normal, will fix this shortly and have a new build up a little later today (Easy fix)

Also Have prevented the popup when using D2SRoba (found it myself).

I've run into a problem with the latest build. When converting from NTSC to PAL, the resulting mpv video file is only 1 kb in size. However, if I leave the "NTSC to PAL" option unchecked it converts fine.

I've tested the same xvid file in DVD2SVCD with "NTSC to PAL" selected, and the file converts with no problems.

Ok have updated app, is on same link as before Build_342 (http://www.deckardsma.com/archiex/D2SBatch_Build_342.rar).

Slight fix in the rename/move files when using NTSC2PAL. (If you dont use NTSC2PAL then dont worry about above)

Couldnt recreate the 1kb mpv file problem, but it could possibly be caused by the above, give it a go and let me know.

Archie

Fugdefino
21st March 2006, 02:35
Ok, the good news is that the 1KB mpv file problem is gone.

The only trouble is that the resulting mpv file isn't PAL, it's a 29.97 framerate NTSC video with 2:3 pulldown.

The same xvid file converts to PAL using DVD2SVCD alone with no problems.

ArchieX
21st March 2006, 22:51
When you select the file, does it state NTSC2PAL in the info window at the bottom ?

Also can you tell me what framerate the file is.

Archie

Fugdefino
22nd March 2006, 01:36
Yes, NTSC2PAL: True.

The Original avi is a 29.970 fps NTSC File.

Fugdefino
22nd March 2006, 16:16
Ok, I've done some more testing with NTSC2PAL selected. This time with a 23.976 fps input file. Once again the output mpv file is 29.970 fps, and not 25 fps as it should be.

This app is not meant to join your files, only to convert (many of) them. You would need to join them with another program (like VirtualDub) before conversion, then you would only need to use D2S standalone.

Not for D2SBatch, some of the dvd2svcd progs might be a little processor intensive.

Hi ArchieX,
I just came accross your program on Doom, whilst looking for batch encoding help.

Unfortunately, I discovered I made a mistake whilst pointing the program to the appropriate .exe file for D2SRoba, whilst installing. I pointed it to D2SRoBa380.exe within the DVD2SVCD folder, instead of D2SRoBa.exe within the Tylo folder.

In spite of uninstalling numerous times, I can not seem to get back to where the D2SBatch program asks for the .exe locations again, as it seems to remember the first mistaken location automatically, even after a registry clean.

Is there some way of instructing D2SBatch where the correct D2SRoBa.exe file is please?

Thanks,
Chump (idiot !)

Chump

it has written the location for the DVD2SVCD.exe OK (under SVCDROOT in registry).

Having just spotted the above, I located the mistaken D2sRoba380.exe entry. I tried editing it, but the darn thing kept re-writing itself. So, .. I took the bull by the horns, and renamed the DVD2SVCDBATCH Key to .old, and re-installed. Hey presto ... it bloomin' worked.
Uninstalled and used the version 342, and it recognises D2SRoba !!!
Yihaaaaa.

I'm off to try my first batch encoding .. at last!

ArchieX,
I ran a couple of AVI's to DVD's overnight. Originals were NTSC, 23.976 FPS; Audio MPEG-1 Layer 3. Batch was set up for NTSC to PAL conversion ( "True" in info box), and tick for use D2SRoba.

I'd opened an AVI with D2SRoba and on to DVD2SVCD v1.2.3. Build 1 to check my settings were correct, which includes ticking the check-box for AVI AR 1:1 in the conversion tab. Without this being checked, AR's of my resulting conversions usually get stretched vertically. With it, they've always been correct.

After shutting down the above and starting up Batch converter, I noticed as it ran DVD2SVCD that the AVI AR 1:1 box was un-ticked, and the final movies - both MPG and VOB's were again vertically stretched. The sound had also fallen out of sync :O(

Using D2S as stand alone, converts them fine. I tried the whole Batch procedure a couple of times since, with same result .... AVI AR 1:1 becomes un-ticked.

If there's anything I could send you to help with this, I'd be only to glad to assist, as this program would save me hours. OR, ... let me know where you think I may have bodged up.
Thanks.

Chump
29th May 2006, 10:47
I just ran another Batch trial, (or two .. using some small avi's I use to test with), ... and as soon as DVD2SVCD popped up, I quickly ticked the AVI AR 1:1 box, as it appeared. It took a couple of attempts to manage it in time.
Anyways, ... I checked the resulting MPG and VOB's, and the Aspect Ratio turned out fine. So in spite of ticking the box AFTER it had started to run, it at least accepted the request to keep AR 1:1.
Unfortunately, ... Batch doesn't remember this tick afterwards, ... so running a few avi's in batch wouldn't leave me with a number of correctly AR'd movies.

I can live without NTSC to PAL, as I have a Multi-region DVD player, but if there IS a fix for this as well ... I'd be well chuffed.
Cheers.

Thanks for the nice program ArchieX. I discovered it a couple weeks ago and have been playing with it. Mostly I like it, but I have found a few problems:

1 - Although I don't have NTSC->PAL ticked (NTSC2PAL: False) the framerate is shown on the right as being 25.000 and the resulting framerate is the same. I can't get it to convert to 29.97.

2 - On some files, not all, I get the following error message:

Executing VCDXBuild. Commandline:
"D:\Programs\DVD2SVCD\VCDImager\VCDXBuild.exe" --verbose --cue-file="D:\Programs\DVD2SVCD\Movie\FARSCA~1\CD_Image_File_CD1.cue" --bin-file="D:\Programs\DVD2SVCD\Movie\FARSCA~1\CD_Image_File_CD1.bin" "D:\Programs\DVD2SVCD\Movie\FARSCA~1\VCDXBU~1.XML"
VCDXBuild failed to create a bin/cue file!

However, when I run the same file with the same specs in D2S it converts perfectly. No problems.

I like your little program but I'm finding it to be less of a hassle to run each file individually through D2S. I don't get the error messages and I get the output bitrate I want.

Peace.

I solved the problem with the bit rate. It was on my end. Sorry about bothering you with that one. I'm pretty sure the other problem is not on my end though.

Whenever you get to it is fine. I'm plodding along happily doing one at a time.

Thanks.
