Hey, been using DVD2SVCD for a couple years now to convert multiple tv eps to place on DVD.
I recently wrote a small app to automate avi to SVCD conversion usind DVD2SVCD, Thanks to all the guys out there who have helped get the program to a Good stable Build
Feel free to use it, and any bugs or suggestions, again please feel free to post these here.
Program will convert avi to all 3 formats of SVCD2DVD and also incorporates D2SRoba support.
Download Current Build 340 (http://www.deckardsma.com/archiex/D2SBatch340.msi)

Hoping to find time to add all conversions, wrote it originally just to do avi's but am planning o it.

My question is whether it can do avi to dvd, rather than avi to some other format. If I want to try it, where can I get it??

Pm me with an email address and I will send a copy (324k) I hope you continue with this and flesh it out. Perfect timing as more and more folks are using A2D for downconverting HD tv caps. I pulled it back out just for that and I had hoped somebody would do a batch frontend like this.
Would like to see a copy if available - Will pm emaill address

Personally I prefer my tool NameLess for batch converting tv caps to DVD, shame no one else (here) does ;p
But I don't mean to bash your app, it looks really handy :)
You might want to change the screenshot though - the filesnames look a bit questionable and mods seem to be understandably itchy about rule 6.

Perhaps because it doesn't have a name, people don't know about it? ;)

I believe the attachment (screenshot) has already gone through the moderator approval process, otherwise we wouldn't be seeing it.

DVD2SVCD does batch conveting of AVI to anything or dvd to anything. Sure, there is no fancy GUI for it all, but hey! Its been working for me for years.
For Batch AVI conversions, just read the Q&A Question 73 http://forum.doom9.org/showthread.php?t=21859

Yeah I used it as well, but was fed up of having to run D2S and stop it for each file. Then manually create a bat file, just wanted to make it easier, click and go.

ArchieX, this is a very well thought out and clean GUI. Very useful. Chickenman's method is great and I use it all the time. Only problem is I have to have both eyes open and actually concentrate. With this clean and clear GUI I can have a half bottle of Irish down and still not foul up. Great job!
Comment: Suggest changing the rename radio buttons to check-marks as I would like to have both renamed and left. The muxed mpg is useful for checking audio sync and a few other things.
Of course, D2SRoba support would be great. Hope you keep this up - very useful already and could be awesome with a few more tweaks and additions.
Good Luck!

Had the time to do some more testing. I'm getting an error (I/O error 103) log window says "Renaming MPG file (MPV/MPA)" then "No MPG file to rename".
First time I've used it set to 'Rename MPG file' as I have an authoring program that I like but it doesn't use MPA/MPV files, works simply with MPG.
Of course the MPG exists. Let me know if you need other info.

Thanks for the info guys, have a new build ready and it can be downloaded from :

Rename function modified for DDOGG.
Hopefully should cure 'No MPG to rename bug' for jikchung .
Keep me updated so I can add and fix.
Thanx

ArchieX-
Still getting "I/O error 103" on rename mpg and the batch stops.
Did not get the "No MPG file to rename" message this time, but the file was NOT renamed.
I am converting AVI to a DVD spec output file, the resulting mpg is named:
MPlex_Muxed_File00.mpg
I am running a batch now without renaming the mpg will see if the error crops up after work (in ~15 hrs or so).
Let me know if you need anything else.
Dwight
PS- thanks for sending the new build.

ArchieX-
Just an update: build 319 working flawlessly with mpg renaming on.
Added info:
Noticed that while the videos are processed with my D2S settings, after the batch completes the D2S settings are changed from what they started with.

There seem to be a problem with processing 25fps AVIs, however. Whenever I try to encode such AVIs with the DVD2SVCD Batch, DVDSVCD is somehow fooled to believe that it's dealing with NTSC source, which makes it do a pulldown, which results in complete audio async.

Hiya, great app. I've experience the PAL (25fps) avi thing, and also for some reason I have it hanging at the encode stage in cce on the 2nd item. Would long filenames have anything to do with it? Thanks

Should have a fix for the 25fps bug by tomorrow, also found a bug in the 29.970 fps. (Thanx to miv and co for this)
Also adding in a fix for the d2s settings. (thanx to jikchung)

Hm...well,(still?) converted my 25fps-Xvid to NTSC? :)
EDIT: Just noticed the Audio is totally screwed, runs 17 Minutes,Original was 34 Mins ^^ Might be caused by Source as it was VBR MP3, gonna check it with another file.
Aborted Testing...Project File says
[MovieInfo]
SourceType=divx - DivX
MovieOffset=
CDOverlapSeconds=
StartupDelays=
VideoFormat=NTSC
though the Vid is PAL :(
But anyway thanx for working on it!! :thanks:
miv

On the contrary, things are working great now as far as the 25fps bug is concerned. I successfully converted a PAL AVI to MPG, no pulldown was done, MPG frame has 480x576 size, and audio is in perfect sync.
Thanks for the quick fix!

24th November 2005, 16:31
But now I want to draw your attention to another thing. When I add 22nd file to the list of files to be processed, DVD2SVCD Batch displays "Access violation" error and things go crazy. I can't even close it by clicking "Close" any more (same "Access violation" window is displayed again): the only way to kill it is from the task manager.
The same problem was in the previous build. It still exists in 323. It's always the 22nd file, which causes havoc.
miv
24th November 2005, 17:33
Also, please consider implementing an enhancement allowing users to add more than one file at a time. E.g. by allowing multiple selection in the "Choose a file" window, or allowing drag-n-drop.

Did another Test...well,doesn't work for me it seems.
Did an 42min Avi with 25fps (as correctly recognized in your GUI)...
extracted .wav was ok, encoded .mp2 had 17 Minutes Runtime and Video was NTSC :(
Using D2S 1.2.3b1 with CCE 2.5 if that helps... anyways, tried 13 different avis on 2 machines now,all with the same result. Even the filenames are Encoded_Video_NTSC etc... can't see why it doesn't work out for me. Seems i'll just have to stick with the old methods :(
EDIT: Just saw this in D2S Log:
---AVS Begin---
LoadPlugin("F:\PROGRA~1\DVD2SVCD\dgindex\DGDecode.dll")
AVISource("D:\VCDEAS~1\Serien\GILMOR~1\5X04-W~1.AVI",audio=false)
ConvertToYUY2()
AssumeFPS(29.970,True)
Am I the only one experiencing this?

Firstly for miv, never anticipated anybody wanting to encode more than twenty files at once !!!!, its an easy fix though, will sort it later for u and look at multiselect.

Next to Arthurfent2k, puzzled as to your problem.
Can you download this file :
ftp://archiex%40deckardsma.com@deckardsma.com/YAAI.exe
load up your avi and save info to a file.
then pm me the file or email it.
Will run some tests and hopefully correct the problem for u

arthurfent2k : Got me a little stumped now, downloaded the file you gave me and ran it through d2sbatch & d2s, both results came out perfect and exactly same.
when you convert manually how do you do it and also what codec pack do you have installed ?
Really want to sort this 4u as I love a challenge..
Archie
ps: fixed the wrong videosource reading (doesnt affect the job though)
arthurfent2k
25th November 2005, 12:30
Hm...if I run that file manually everythings fine,so I guess the Codecs not the one to blame...maybe something in my config's screwed up...
codec installed and used for serving is DivX 6.0.
When converting manually I usually don't do much,Settings are quasi fix...I select the Avi, switch Frameserver to DVD for Preview and check 16:9 or 4:3, then switch back to 352x576 and Go...that's all :)
Gonna try it on my little server machine with a freshly installed DVD2SVCD...
maybe even the Target CVD has something to do with it
Thx for taking the challenge *g* will post if my new tests brought something up
EDIT: Well...still NTSC on another machine, fresh install of D2S....going crazy over that one :(
No.2: Output Format doesn't matter too...720x576 setting results in 720x480

ArchieX-
Still getting settings changes to D2S settings after batch conversion completes.
arthurfent2k
26th November 2005, 15:03
Hmm...just one Question:
Would it be very much work for you to create a build which just encodes everything it gets in PAL? :)
I know its probably asked too much but for me that would be plain perfect as all i want to batch encode are caps of german tv-series, not a single one of them NTSC...but quite a lot of them :) I dare asking for that because i hope its just commenting a few lines out but if its more than that forget it ^^
If its too much work please say so (excuse my english,I'm afraid i can't quite express what I mean... )

Archie, after running a test DVD2SVCD batch messed up the roba settings.
After a normal encoding with roba D2S wasn't able to finish the job
When CCE pops up I get a message ecl could not be used or something like that.
After reinstalling DVD2SVCD eveything was ok.
Greetings PB
ArchieX
27th November 2005, 23:31
Was this using D2SRoba or the ds2 roba encoding settings ?
Batch app doesn't (or shouldnt) touch d2s encode methods.
lmk which of the above and a bit more detail on what exactly went wrong.
Cheers

During the encode stage I think Roba was using the ecl file in the batch folder (wich isn't the file it should use).
Then DVD2SVCD shut down and I got the message could not use ecl file .
