Hey, ArchieX, hope the kitchen and your Winter Solstice worked out. Looks like I may have started the classic feature creep on you. That can be aggravating to say the least. Hope you keep up on this program after you have had a break.

Couple of odd things to report:

1> 323 version - Seems to be an extra backslash added to the path given to CCE. I assume it may be on your end as the 319 version does not do so.

2> 319 version - Audio is slowwweeeddd down and thus out of sync.

If you have not run into these, please let me know and I will try to get you all the details you need. In a hurry at the moment, thus the quick brief.

Best, DDogg

Best, DDogg

This also happened to me using a long filename with lots of "."'s
i.e. "the.shield.1x01.pilot.subs-tns.avi"
When I renamed it to "shield101.avi", the problem went away, so maybe there's a clue there.

Another note: when I entered a new default folder (existing on the HD), it seemed to take one run through before it passed the name correctly to D2S; in other words, D2S crashed trying to run CCE because it couldn't locate the .ecl file.
On the second run, it was found - I also noticed the FINAL and PROGRESS directories were put in the root folder the first time through.
Another clue there?

... very handy prog, ArchieX ... thanks ...

Sorry about the delay guys, had more problems than expected, will be back to app sometime next week. And hope to sort these issues for you all.

And also a PAL only version for ArthurFent2k.

Ok,
Pinobird, managed to recreate the problem you are having, so should hopefully be able to fix that quickly.

DeRoc, What folder depth was your file ?

Arthurfent, Working on your PAL version as I type.

Working for next 2 days, hopefully should have a new build by monday.

DeRoc, What folder depth was your file ?

The source is 2 levels deep ("L:\Movies-TV\Shield") and the target is a 1st level folder ("L:\Movies-Encoded").
But I just tried to re-create the problem and it worked fine, so it was probably just a fluke (fragmented drive, maybe).

I'll update if it happens again.
Thanks much, DeRoc

Still puzzled why I'm the only one experiencing the permanent-NTSC-Prob but what the hell, since you're sooo kind... :o

Ok, been real busy on app, done a complete re-write almost, worked out a lot of bugs (I Think?).

Main changes are :

1. Added D2SRoba support.
2. Increased Number of files in batch to 50 (Should be enough now.)
3. Added multiselect to file dialog.
4. Fixed several small code errors that were missed in original.
5. Changed the File/directory creation structure.
6. Streamlined most of code.

Hopefully some of you guys will get to testing and report back soon, I Have done plenty of testing, but as anybody who codes knows, you write an app to work for you, its the others who find the bugs.

Download available from DVD2SVCDBATCH Build 329 (http://www.deckardsma.com/archiex/DVD2SVCDBATCHBuild%20329.rar)

Many thanks to Jikchung for the webspace.

Trying your new build 329 --
The directory problem happened again... I created a new directory, browsed and selected it from D2SBatch, and started a 4-file batch.

The files were trying to go into "L:\\Shield105" (note the double-backslash) instead of "L:\MOVIES\Shield105" so of course DVD2SVCD couldn't continue once CCE tried to find the files.

Upon re-starting, everything proceeded normally with the correct directory structure.

Which brings up an unrelated suggestion: when aborting the batch process, can you bypass the subsequent DVD2SVCD start-ups that occur? Otherwise you get a slew of new processes started, click "OK-CANCEL" for each until they run out, and left with the unfinished directories and partial files.

Really appreciate your work on this program...:D
thanks, DeRoc

Sorry about that, on previous versions batch cancel terminated all processing, forgot to add that in new build.

ArchieX, I did some testing with 329.
On a 25 fps movie with ac3 the audio was way out of sync.
Can you explain me the use of roba with D2SBatch I can't get it running properly.
The renaming, encoding and authoring went fine except for the sync problems.
I hope you are planning to support subtitles.
Thanks for the good work.

Great programm you've made ArchieX!! I've tested some conversions and experienced the same problem as arthurfent2k has... If I check the NTSC2PAL box, D2S gives me a "Encoded_Video_CCE_NTSC.mpv" and "Pulldown_Encoded_Video_NTSC.mpv" so no PAL..
with 329 even when the original avi is PAL it encodes to NTSC, wether NTSC2PAL checkbox checked or not. I didn't encouter that problem with the previous release.

Also, if the batch program makes a mpg, bbMPG says it can't find "Encoded_audio_1.mp2". The problem is, d2s makes "Encoded_audio_1_mp2.mp2" so it gives it the wrong name.

I hope you can fix those bugs, it would be great!
btw d2sRoba and multiselect work awesome :D
thanx!

Hi Archie, Have a problem running this under XP x64 .....

After the audio extraction is complete & the log windows shows D2SRoba being launched, I get this error:-
"Cannot copy file: Cannot read from the source file or disk".
I have to "OK" this message 3 times then D2SRoba loads and completes as expected. Error then appears again with next .AVI file.

I've checked the registry entries for your prog & the paths are stored correctly. Any ideas?

Thanks,
staveley

Ok firstly to Hub, can you post or pm the D2S log file.

Secondly have resolved a number of issues, but would like a couple of people to test before making public.

Anyone interested PM me with your emails or email me GSXR_DEMON@hotmail.com.

Hopefully some of you guys will be able to do some quick tests, so I can resolve any issues quickly and get a "Fully" working copy out.

If you did not check "Do not delete files" then it has been deleted.
The file is created in your conversion folder.

Archie

Edit: Is this when you initially load the avi for conversion or during conversion ?

if the first, then pm me details plz

Hi all - I am getting an odd problem with DVD2SVCDBatch - the avisynth script is trying to load an mpeg2 source rather than avi... any ideas?

here's my script:
LoadPlugin("d:\video\DVD2SVCD\dgindex\DGDecode.dll")
MPEG2Source("")
Import("d:\video\DVD2SVCD\Tylo\RoBaConditional.avs")
BicubicResize(688,480,0.0,0.6)
AddBorders(16,0,16,0)
Import("D:\DVD_OUTPUT\xxxxx\ResampleAudio.avs")
ResampleAudio(44100)
ConvertToYUY2()

Hi-
I'm wondering why the following is inserted into DVD2SVCD.INI:

[around line 37]
DVDMplex Executable=E:\DVD2SVCD\DVDAuthor\BBMPEG.BAT

instead of 'mplex.exe'

because it causes D2S to halt since it's supposed to find 'mplex.exe' in the DVDAuthor directory.
This is strange because it had been working very well before (I've done several batches of 10 or so files each).
I have the correct path in D2S, but D2SBatch re-writes the line above.

Actually, it is written correctly in the INI when the file is converted successfully (which was one out of five in this case) or when D2S is run by itself, and the only reference to BBMPEG.BAT (about 10 lines up) appears as

E:\DVD2SVCD\bbMPEG\BBMPEG.BAT

which seems normal in all the other INI's.

So, any thoughts? I don't have a clue why this started happening.
Thanks for your efforts in getting this program up and running.
Bob

ArchieX

The BBMPEG.bat reference is for when you select 'do not create MPG' it is a blank batch file to bypass Multiplexing.

DeRoc

The BBMPEG.bat reference is for when you select 'do not create MPG' it is a blank batch file to bypass Multiplexing.

OK I see the problem now -- the BBMPEG.BAT file is never created in the DVDAuthor directory; hence the program halt. I've just now copied that file from the bbMPEG directory and will see if that bypasses the problem during this current batch process.

I'd forgotten that I'd clicked the "no mpeg" box...:o

thanks, will report my findings..

Hi ArchieX, I've read all this post and although I haven't tried your program it looks like my solution for batch encoding. I was thinking of starting to program an application just like this one but had no idea where to start off. Since I have some questions about the programming part that are out of the scope of this thread, I will send you a PM.
Thanks in advanced

Ok guys, sorry for the absence, have been busy with work, family and more importantly getting my bike ready for the road as the weather improves.

Done some work on app and have a New Build 335 (http://www.savefile.com/files/9447270) available.

Fixed a few bugs and updated a few features.

SVCD/DVD/VCD Selection from app.
D2SRoba settings screen (Global or individual).

Once again feedback appreciated, I feel the prog is nearly there now.

Hey, nice to hear you're doing and progressing well :)

Well...erm...who else should have Probs with the Build :o

It won't start, when I open an AVI in it the file properties are recognized correctly (resolution, frame rate etc) but when I click start it says it can't open the file, source file can't be opened (running a german XP so i can't give the exact errormessage...the same message like trying to open a previously erased, non-existent file), followed by an error message "Cannot open file "(path)\D2SRoba.ini". This is the same with D2SRoBa turned on or off.

This changes after selecting another avi, then it says (well, not always) "Access Violation at adress 004CB84B in Module 'DVD2SVCDBATCHBuild335.exe'.Read of Adress 00000000"

Maybe I'm once again the only one experiencing Probs...seems my machine is somehow f***ed up

DDogg
20th February 2006, 01:13
Gave it a quick try. Worked perfectly with avi w/ac3 input to svcd. Will test more later. It is really looking good. GJ!

/I did not try the d2sroba option, just a simple OPV. Because of the bug in the avs scripts for avi conversion (converttoyuy2 in the wrong place), using d2sroba with conditional filters can be a real pita. Hopefully he will get off his dead butt one day and fix it <slightly joking here ... slightly>. If not, maybe you could? Dunno what is involved with parsing the avs script and moving the convert line down under the re-size line (so it will not interfere with those filters that require YV12).

I wonder if this may be a cause of some erratic reportage to you?

DD

arthurfent2k
20th February 2006, 10:24
Hm...the same file works with D2S so i guess that's not the point... just tried creating a d2sroba.ini in the folder D2SBatch looks for it (the second errormessage)...so far just the message has changed and now says List Index out of Bound (31).

I'm getting to the point where I think D2SBatch is working perfectly, just not for me and my machine :)

lol arthurfent2k I think we've got the same f***ed up pc:P

ARchie, I too am getting 'List index out of bounds' with the new build :(

Could it be due to having dvd2svcd installed in a non-standard location? (mine is d:\video\dvd2svcd)

Hey there, it's me again :)

Just did the first few tests... seems you sorted it out, runs fine. Still gives me NTSC (got used to that ^^) but otherwise works just fine :)
Will do a few more tests overnight.

Again, great work!

jester1o1
25th February 2006, 03:51
bascially working fine here too. I also only get NTSC output - but at least encodes go all the way through :)

1 caveat - I get a 'list index out of bounds' after pressing ok on the individual d2sroba settings screen - though this doesn't appear to cause any problems - settings are still saved correctly and used by Roba in the encode.

Thanks again for such a great app Archie!

Some odd things are happening:
Isn't D2SBatch supposed to use the settings last saved in D2S

I use AVI-DVD, no D2SRoba, no SVCD, custom Avisynth.ini settings for borders and aspect

but in DVD2SVCD:
1. it used 'bicubic resize' instead of 'custom-bilinear' that I'd entered, causing the wrong aspect

2. deleted the mp2 audio, even though it was checked to use in D2S (but also checked 'keep AC3' in D2SBatch). I understand the logic, but still expected D2S to take precedence on the final settings.

3. D2SBatch doesn't remember the 'conversion mode' setting (I use DVD in my case)

request: a slightly different icon (a double-headed orange, perhaps :)

Anyway, back to v.329 for me - thanks for your continued work on this useful project.

@DeRoc

Could you do a quick run and send me the D2s Project file,DVD.ini file & SVCD2DVD.ini file from the folder (GSXR_DEMON@hotmail.com) Thanx.

I did some changes on Build 335/6.

1.The Keep AC3 now uses the Dont convert Audio option in D2S so that the AC3 is processed (IE. if you are usind the build DVD options in D2S, You would likely want the AC3 to be Muxed). Will add an option not to do this.

2. D2S Batch remembering Conversion mode is My fault, easy fix.

3. Changed the way D2SBatch handles the D2S.ini file, should still remember settings though, so will take a look.

This fixes the European NTSC/PAL Bug in previous versions.

Now saves Conversion mode on exit.

Added option to keep MP2 when Using AC3 (Dont Use Source Audio(AC3)).

Give this a whirl have added the copying of AViSynth to Project folder (Removed this recently) maybe it will cure the problem you are having ???

LanczosResize(720,280)

Well... sadly... it did the same thing.

** BUT HERE'S A CLUE !! ** :D
I did a search in my D2S directory for "bicubicResize" and found several INI files (SVCD.INI, VCD.INI) containing "Avisynth setup=BicubicResize". When I moved them to another directory and re-started D2SBatch, I got the error "cannot find SVCD.INI" which, as far as I can tell, is never needed in the AVI-DVD conversions. I tested D2S standalone without these files and it ran to completion normally.

Could this be the problem -- looking for 'svcd.ini' instead of 'dvd.ini' ?

stynx
28th February 2006, 19:47
Nice, Pal conversion works! though, the name stays Encoded_Video_CCE_NTSC.mpv, so it was a little searching before I found this was actually PAL.

some errors occurred when I ran some tests:

Access violation at address 004CBCEC in module 'DVD2SVCDBATCHBuild 337.exe'.

when I clicked the drop down thing for the roba settings,
but I didn't appear the second time. After that I got this error:

List index out of bounds (30)
when I closed the roba settings.

occasionally this error shows up (when it's converting):

Line 0:
$ret = RunWait ($command, $AudioDir, @SW_MINIMIZE
Error: Unable to execute the external program.
De mapnaam is ongeldig. (*Name of directory not valid)

Don't know exactly when, I will check that later...

got a little problem though.. the framerate is ok: 25.00, but it's size is not right.
The size is 720×480 and not 720×576..
Can I change that somewhere or does the program have to do that?

Ok guys, have been working with DeRoc to solve some issues and now have a new Build 338 (http://www.sbus.pwp.blueyonder.co.uk/files/DVD2SVCDBATCHBuild%20338.rar).

The D2SRoba settings bug is now cured (Said that b4 !).

D2S Settings are now restored correctly (This was causing the MPEG2SOURCE problem).

Correct filters are now being used.

Conversion mode now works correctly

and Program Icon changed.

Those with pal who were getting wrong frame sizes, please test this build and report back.

There was a problem with AC3 in the builds that DeRoc was testing, but this should hopefully now be fixed.

Awaiting your nice comments ( or should I say bug reports).

Archie

EDIT : If you have succesful results please let me know, its nice to hear positive feedback once in a while.
