Menu play doesn't work

I changed first play in Video_ts.ifo to "jump to PGC 2" on a dvd to get the menu to play from the beginning, but when I push play from the menu, the player exits the dvd. Originally it had "jump to titleset menu". I've never encountered that before. Any suggestions?

you'd better check, what commands are not executed, since you don't visit your 'titleset menu' menu first. you can check this easily using the pgcedit. once you find the commands, add them to your 1st play...

How do you go about checking in PGCEdit for which commands are not executed? Just to clarify what I'm trying to do, I want the video leading up to the main menu to play before the menu. With "jump to titleset menu" it goes straight to the menu, bypassing the lead-in. Is there a way to do that with PGCEdit? I'm only used to IFOEdit. TIA.

ok, now i got it. you want to have something extra play before the original menu... i can figure out 2 ways:

1) check, what needs to be set up before the title play (e.g. trace all the way to the menu and click from there the button that plays that title and once you get to the title check your registers)

or

2) there must be something in the pre commands for that title that prevent it from playing directly from the 1st play. you can just remove them, but then you risk that it won't play correctly or plays even if it shouldn't when entered from somewhere else

so, it's safer to go route 1)

now the question is, how do you play it from the original disk?
is there a button in the menu or does it play automatically before the main movie or what's the story?
